Team HPSpA
-
Here is team HPSpA which basically stands for bulky special offense.
-
==========================
Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/86 Atk/80 Def/92 SDef
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Hypnosis
---
Bronzong is really useful. I usually go for the hypnosis and then stealth rock but it doesn't always work out. A lot of times I have to switch out because of the threat of a spore from Smeargle or because I get taunted. The thing is usually I find plenty of opportunities to switch back in and go for the hypnosis and stealth rocks. Bronzong does a good job of punishing frail sweepers with STAB gyro ball and earthquake. Many times I can come in and use hypnosis against a threatening pokemon to save the rest of my team. Bronzong is a very much expendable pokemon but usually he has quite good longevity and I can use him throughout half the game.
---
Celebi @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 36 Def/220 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Recover
- Leaf Storm
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Fire]
---
Very simple Celebi. Just come in and start unleashing fury with three attacks and recover for longevity. Leaf storm hits very hard with life orb while hidden power [fire] deals with Scizor and other steel types. The biggest drawback is how helpless I am against Heatran so earth power might be considerable over something like psychic. Celebi is pretty bulky and has decent attack and okay coverage.
Psychic replaced with earth power mainly for Heatran and because psychic wasn't too useful.
---
Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Surf
- Calm Mind
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
---
This thing wins plenty of games. My team doesn't focus on removing the counters for this set but rather just focuses on functioning as a solid team and with that said this thing often gets an opportunity to come in and seal the deal. This functions as a great status and sleep absorber. Obviously calm mind to boost special defense while my natural defense is very high. Few things can stop this set especially after a calm mind on a switch. This is the VIP of the team. By the time the opponent is down to 4 or 3 pokemon this thing can often just come in and win straight away. Other than that it's a great pokemon to switch to defensively.
---
Latias (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Surf
- Recover
---
An offensive calm mind Latias. Has difficulties against Scizor so it's very important that I don't send it in until the opponent's Scizor is weakened some. I was tempted to put hidden power [fire] on it but recover just seems a lot more balanced and hopefully I can play around the pursuit weakness. Great pokemon to go to to absorb elemental attacks from special attackers and then start setting up. Empoleon is the only pokemon that resists both attacks.
---
Metagross @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 28 HP/252 Atk/228 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Thunderpunch
- Explosion
---
Scarf Metagross has now replaced scarf Jirachi. In testing I felt it had a little less utility but definitely more threatening attack options with more power behind them. I'm happy with this replacement as it serves the original role of taking out threats while packing a lot more dynamite to my team. Explosion is especially a nice addition giving me the possibility of revenge killing pokemon that have been setting up too much on me.
---
Dugtrio (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 40 HP/252 Atk/216 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Sucker Punch
- Aerial Ace
---
Dugtrio is pretty cool I think. He can take out Blissey as soon as I scout for ice beam or know one isn't coming. He can also come in on a lot of other pokemon and take them out and sometimes even sweep the rest of a team if the opponent doesn't have anything faster or immune to earthquake left. Mainly I found Dugtrio necessary because Blissey walls my entire team without him.
---
So that's the team. It's doing pretty good so far I find it very tasteful in terms of offense but very solid and resilient. Advice would be appreciated.
