Team Neptune [OU RMT]

After looking over the most recent team I had created, I acknowledged a cold, dark, deep, blue figment resonating when I asked myself to name it. What more fitting a name then 'Neptune'. Neptune is ferocious, poisonious and cold.

This team is of the Offensively Bulky persuasion.

Swampert.jpg

Swampert (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 244 HP/244 Atk/20 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Stone Edge

Attacks chosen to ensure maximum coverage.

First up to bat is my ol' pal M. Swampert and we BOTH know what your thinking. Where are the stealth rocks / taunt / trick n00b? SR is causing some mad overcentralization, so my new nickname for sr is 'crackrocks' 'cr'.Because that is what they have become. So you might be asking me now, "Geeya, where are the crackrocks". It goes a little something like this Dorothy. I am exploiting the 'get sr down asap' mindset that this college has grown so favorable of. Meta is the number 1 lead and I can easily say that, 85% of the time SR is layed down by Metagross or Heatran expecting me to get up 'rocks'only to be murdered by Stab CB Waterfall or EQ. Swampert has the capacity to hit all kinds of things with his extensive movepool. SR has become less of a priority for me. And the suprise factor of CB Swamp is grand coming off 110 Base, He's overall bulky with 244 hp evs, and has a single quad vulnerability that can easily be transfered into lower damage by Gengar Mence and Jirachi. NightFalcon was the person who introduced me to the idea of CB Swampert, and i've used it on a couple teams. It works very well as far as a CBer goes. And is my favorite recipient of Wish. 20 speed grants him enough speed to...out...speed 160. Which is really all desired for Machamp, Porygon2, Blissey hindered natured Swampert and Tar. As well as the other stuff that gets Para'd by Ratchi. Water Type is a very good (possibley underrated) attack type like flying. Swampert can do his damage and come back in on wishes from Jirachi and Vappy, and then unleash more damage with a carefully selected attack judged on the revealed opposing hoser's team.Swampert is Water with Icepunch. He's Cold.

Mamoswine__the_Mammoth_Boar_by_NiaWolf.png

Mamoswine (M) @ Salac Berry / Nevermeltice
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 Atk/ 4 Def/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Ice Shard
- Substitute
- Earthquake
- Endeavor

Will be testing endeavor.

Mamo's usage has declined due to the new strain of infection these things are spewing. I originally had Mamo replaced with a form of Boah. But Tar just doesn't have enough to deal with a Mence after a DD, whereas Mamo can almost always revenge kill when they Outrage. I gave Mamo the Def EVs because I needed something that could come in on SD Lucario and then take it out before it try's to CC using Mamo's scarf. So Def evs are for Lucario's LO (SD) ES. This adds to Mamo's bulkyness which allows him to recieve wish/pass greater. Having two grounds is also awesome, as they both have an immunity. Getting rocks down on this thing, really isn't a big deal, This Mamo can get walled fairly easily. Mamo and Swamp both have mean EQs that will definitly hurt things with even neutral typing. Mamo adds a priority move, and speed. But is fairly unrelyable in getting up CR. I get it down when I need to, eventually. I could lay down faster and more efficient if I changed Mamo to a Zong where I would give him Toxic. But I need the DDMence cover. No worries though. I don't know what everybody is getting so fussy about scizor for, Mamo and Weavile are still very usable. Mamo is an Ice type, and at the same time, neutral to sr, so it's Cold.

167px-Jirachi_Pic1.PNG

Jirachi @ Iron Plate / Leftovers / Berry
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 232 HP/248 Atk/28 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch / Sacred Fire
- Wish
- Thunder Wave

My tried and true set.

I bet now people are wishing for that Levitating Jirachi that sounded so strong before he went Platinum. Until it is shown that Serene Grace Jirachi is 'Uber' I, aswell as many other's plan to continue to use it ;P. I had a tiff in choosing between Fire Punch and Sacred Fire but I ultimatley chose Fire Punch due to it's 75 base power... This has become my favorite signature 'ratchi. I adapted him from Twave-Sr-boltbeam Mesprite. Only He can wish support alongside Vappy, giving my Bulky Offense team 2 wishers. Just fine.Jirachi can come in on CBBPunch Scizor and easily set up Twave/Wish/Fire punch. He is the 'Equalizer' 'Tranq' 'Enforcer' 'Persuader'. He can flip games on their asses. Utterly walled by bulkywaters and heatrans. I was originally running max speed and attack adamant but figured I would try out a bulkier version to fit this team's stature. Jirachi is already sufficiently bulky without any defensive investment. So this is just pie on the cake. Jirachi is great for getting my team in a better position, yet is in no way uncounterable. Scarf is most expected on 'ratchi. So I make use of that sad fact.Especially when they make the mistake of switching Heatran into a 'CScarf' Iron Head XD (Twave). Good typing, wish support, flinching, Iron Plate is new to me. It seems like a worthy investment to boost IH to 145 base. Lefties is more standard, Occa and Shuca work for getting a para in i can imagine. Stall Breaker extrodinaire. The triangle to crown my pyramid; Support / Attack unit and only poke on this team that isn't cold.

Vaporeon.jpg

Vaporeon (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 216 HP/252 Def/20 Spd/20 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Protect
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Wish

Standard Wish support Vappy.

I had to test around with this thing. I had Roar on it over surf. Then I had surf over ice. Then Mence pissed me off again, So now Im only inclined to reveal my water attack and wait for a Mence to pop out. I threw away Roar for this more offensive Vappy. Im happy with it. Vappy is a good physical wall, and decent special wall, passes wish, stalls, has good coverage, forces switches & absorbs water! It's a Vaporeon. And like a Vaporeon; it is the residential bulky water of team Neptune. So it's automatically cold.

salamence.jpg

Salamence (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 236 Atk/112 Spd/160 SAtk
Naughty nature (+Atk, -SDef)
- Outrage
- Draco Meteor
- Earthquake
- Flamethrower

Mence with her most efficient array of attacks. Sans Brick Break and DD.

The last time I used a Salamence on a serious team on Smogon University server I can't even remember. I needed something fast and powerful and this CS Salamence succeeds base 130 pokemon with 112 evs. 236 atk evs give it 400 atk stat and 160 s.atk give it 295 s.atk stat while naughty. Two powerful Stab Dragon attacks, EQ and Flamethrower being used the least. Mence is the only thing on my team that is considered weak to SR, but she can also recieve Wish with her ability and base defenses factored in. My type resister and revenge killer. Salamence requires no set-up is and is cold blooded.

gengar.png

Gengar (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Protect/ Hp Fight / Explosion

Attacks chosen to ensure maximum coverage. Better coverage then most Rotoms.

HP fight may be bad when dealing with other Gengar's and scary new Latias as it reduces the max speed by 1. But it is more relyable then Focus Blast in many cases. I hope the trend of HP fire Gar's continues. It's a shame speed is so valuable on him. Protect is great for outwiting CB Scizor. For instance, if a CB Scizor comes in on a Tbolt and I protect and see that it's trying to pursue me, I can easily KO with FBlast. Gengar can easily wall and counter Lucarios. Gengar is a fast sweeper and is easily the least bulky part of this team. But that's cool with me, because he is immune to 2 types and Explosion. Gengar is cold, in the way that your darkest nightmares are cold. Poisonious, in the way that Liquid Methane is poisonious to organic life on Earth. And both poisonious and cold in the same way that getting OHKO'ed by him is a poisonous and cold sentiment to your f*cking 'EGO'.

Building Process

So I've been begging the question recently, 'What types MUST A team typically need to succeed' Steel, Dragon, Ghost, Water, Ground. Such were the types that came to mind as being the most imperative to team synergy. Steel grants resistance to popular Dragon attacks. Dragon type means powerhouse Salamence / ChoiceFlygon with immunity to Ground and resistance to all kinds of shit. Water means, 'residential bulky water of the a' typical team.' Ghost means immunity to FIghting, and in most cases Ground. Ground means defensive and immunity to electric.

"So" I thought, "Water?" I've been using this CB swampert that just dominates all kinds of things. It (was) my favorite pokemon. It's an incredible lead for putting the pressure on early match. It's probably more effective on shoddybattle then on wi-fi. CB Swampert is in.

Swampert's favorite thing in the world is Wish support. I needed 3, ney, 4 wishpassers! There then developed the design flaw. I could only really utalize two and still make it a hardcore offensive team. I have enough self respect to not use HaxKiss & IronRatchi on the same team. At this point I chose my darling 'Stall Breaker Jirachi'

Blissey was out of the question.I remembered Vaporeon, the bulkyness and the icebeam for murdering paralyzed Salamences. Heatran/Scizor counter. Zapdos is gone now. Another water couldn't hurt! It's been awhile since I used a Vappy!

I've been using Flygon on a couple teams latley. I wanted to use a Draco again. I suppose that was when I chose Mence.'Mence the Menace:revenge killer op'. I decided to Scarf it to take out everything faster then its base 100. And subsequently standard 130 after that. I lucked out and managed to outspeed adamant 252 speed Gyarados after it pulls a DD. Im still working on it. It probably needs more Sp.atk.

I needed a ghost. Too much damned Scarf Rotom-C as my standard spectre. I went with Gengar. Gar basically has an attack stat of 400+ with LO. And he's fast like Froslass. If Scizor becomes too much of a problem (possible, but unlikely) I can easily switch to Scarf Rotom-H and fry his ass. I originally had a Tar in Mamo's position.

tyranitar.png

Tyranitar (F) @ Lum Berry / Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP/240 Atk/16 SDef
Brave nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Flamethrower
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Stone Edge

But oddly enough I needed even more Mence coverage...

Before all that I was subbing Mamo with Mence after I just decided to give Tar the chop altogether. I needed something that could both kill mence easily after it gets a DD, and I needed something to kill Lucario's that set up with SD. If I recall correctly. The Defensive EVs I invested in Mamo should let him survive Adamant LO Extremespeed from Lucario after an SD. With a scarf, Luke cannot touch Mamo if it goes for the CC. So it was a win win with scarf endeavor.

And that is how I made this team!

This team seems very very solid. I just have a few things.

Swampert- I will leave him alone seeing as I am under the impression that an early Stealth Rock is one of the most important things in OU, while you are not, so I don't think much would come from that arguement.

Mamoswine- What is the point of scarf? He still has Ice shard. Therefore, I think a Life Orb Mamoswine would be your best bet. You should go Jolly to outrun Lucario. If you dont want to change Swampert, Mamo could run EQ/Ice Shard/Stone Edge/SR and function better I think.

Vaporeon- Depends on Salamence. If you keep your speed the same, run HP Electric for Empoleon.

Salamence- I think this needs to hit 439 speed, for standard Empoleon, who rapes you hard (232 speed evs). Salamence is your only real answer to Gyarados, so I would use him sparingly because of the threat of Stealth Rock.

Jirachi- If you have perfected that set, go ahead and use it.

Gengar- You have no real U Turn resist, as Salamence is SR weak and Gengar is frail as anything, so I feel this should be Rotom. TrickScarf is a viable stall deterrent, and is a good answer to Lucario, but RestTalk will allow to counter Scizor throughout the game, I would test both.

Good Luck with your team.

Just like to post real quickly to say that the point of his team and general idea is that his offense hits so hard that they are forced to recover or switch before they can lay down Stealth Rock or even do much damage after that. He took this idea from me and I took the idea from JesiahTEG =P.

I don´t have time for a full rate right now but Jirachi should have 36 Speed Evs to outspeed Tyranitar thus preventing from being revenge killer when sufficiently weakened.
Good Luck!
