Team that has done very well on Shoddy, and that likes a rate.

This is my newest team, and it has faired pretty well on ShoddyBattle, maintaining a 37-0 streak. I've been looking through this team to see if I have any weaknesses, but I can't seem to find any that can't be solved by some mind-boggling games. I'm still interested in your opinions, so feel free to rate.

The idea is to wear down the opponent's Pokémon with Choice Band Gross and Choice Scarf Garchomp, while still countering the majority of threats with Gliscor, Starmie and Blissey. Once my opponent's Pokémon have been withered down, I can either finish them of with Choice Band Bullet Punch and Scarfchomp, or go for the full-out sweep with SDLuke.

@ Choice Band
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP/236 Atk/12 Def/8 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Meteor Mash
- Bullet Punch
- Earthquake
- Thunderpunch

Choice Band Metagross is a pretty cool lead, and can scare or deal a lot of damage to quite some other leads away (like Gyarados, Gengar, Abomasnow, Tyranitar, ...). The EV spread always lets him survive an Adamant CB Earthquake from Dugtrio, while in return OHKOing it. If it comes in on the Thunderpunch, I'm dead, but Thunderpunch is too sexy to this off here. It OHKOs Gyarados and 2HKOs Skarmory, which is ... nice.

@ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 172 HP/216 Spd/120 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Surf
- Rapid Spin
- Recover

Standard Rapid Spin Starmie, Thunderbolt to kill Gyarados, and Surf for a nice STAB. Starmie is my main Infernape counter, outspeeding the non-scarf variant and OHKOs him with Surf. I've opted for a bulky EV spread, as it needs to come in on those Close Combats, and needs to survive a Dragon Danced Earthquake from Gyarados

@ Focus Sash
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Extremespeed

Everyone knows this by now, it is quite awesome. I've opted for a Focus Sash, so I can atleast get in one kill if I don't get in a Swords Dance. I know Life Orb has a lot of benefits, but laying down Stealth Rocks is not a priority on my side, and I don't have spikes which makes Hippowdon always live through a Swords Danced Life Orbed Close Combat.

dpmfa445.png

@ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Fire Blast

Choice Scarf Garchomp is awesome, and there isn't much to explain here, as anyone has met at least one of these once.

dpmfa472.png

@ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 244 HP/12 Atk/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
- Roost
- Stealth Rock

Gliscor, my physical wall. Handles those Fighters very well, also is my main Garchomp counter. The only thing I'm scared of is the Swords Dance + Outrage variant, as after a Swords Dance, Outrage does ~70%. I can switch to Metagross after this though, and finish it off with CB Bullet Punch. The EVs let it reach a leftovers number, and I've maximized his physical defense. I've poured the rest in Attack.

@ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 20 HP/252 Def/236 SDef
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Seismic Toss
- Ice Beam
- Thunder Wave
- Softboiled

Everyone knows this, EV spread gives it a leftovers number, and has extra SDef because it needs to stand it ground better against those Choice Specs users.

Notable problems:
The only thing that has given me problems is a Cursepert, though I've only run into one while battling, and I managed to kill it of by sacrificing Starmie and then Close Combating it to death. Any suggestions to handle Cursepert / the move Curse better is welcome.

Machamp with Ice Punch could also give me trouble, as Gliscor can't really wall that, so any notable suggestions on this would also be welcome.

IMO the most solid combination of sets for Garchomp+Lucario is Swords Dance for Lucario and ChainChomp for Garchomp. Seriously, Draco Meteor destroys most of the stuff that likes to wall Lucario, namely Hippowdon, Gyarados and Donphan. Fire Blast OHKOs Skarmory most of the time. IMO those two would work nicely in tandem, because I have used that combo before.

Life Orb>Focus Sash on Lucario. Even if you can't OHKO the hippo with Close Combat, atleast you will be doing a lot to it. Plus, Focus Sash is ruined by Stealth Rock/Spikes, and you can't just assume that Starmie will handle them all since it is weak to Pursuit.

This is a pretty solid team just take into account what I said above tho.

Metagross can do more than 50% to Hippowdon with a Choice Banded Meteor Mash. With some prediction, ScarfChomp can come in on other Garchomps, and kill it with Outrage, which is very nice. It also brings some speed into my team. Nonetheless, I still appreciate your advice and will try out ChainChomp once this has been fully rated.

Well I am confused with where you are getting your calcs from, but CB Metagross does a maximum of 50% with Meteor Mash, which Hippowdon easily Slacks Off even if you hit for max damage twice because leftovers makes the net damage of one turn of max damage 44%. Even with Stealth Rock laid down you can't 2HKO. If you happen to get an attack boost during that period, they may have another physical wall awaiting such as Skarmory, who resists Meteor Mash and can set up Spikes, Phaze you or just Roost off the damage.

I was pointing you into the direction of Chain Chomp for the above reason, plus you are already laying down Stealth Rock so why not abuse Chain Chomp?

Bullet Punch does atleast 32% to your standard 16 HP / no Def Garchomp, and a max of 37%. I think predicting the switch and using Meteor Mash is better than relying on Outrage to take out another Garchomp, who may also be Scarfed, or they might have a Weavile waiting to kill you. Also take into account you might miss with Outrage in the sand.

Gliscor handles Garchomps anyways and you already stated that. So if you are using ScarfChomp to "counter" other Garchomps like you said, why is Gliscor there?

Anyways, I would really like to know where these calcs people are getting are from.

this looks solid but i can see a mamoswine doing som damage once chomp is gone. but hey every one is mamswine weak lol. great team all around good job.

Max/Max HP/Def Hippowdon: 600 attack vs 368 defense, 100 power(*1.5), 420 max HP: 41.67% - 49.29%

Though, some use less HP, and throw in some SpDef, which turns this from a 3HKO into a 2HKO.

Looks good, but if you're going to be using ScarfChomp, Go either Hasty or Naughty, so Fire Blast has more power.

Solid team. I can see Gengar rampaging through this team once Metagross is gone. Blissey can absorb his hits but even with the extra defensive EVs Focus Blast will prove very troublesome to Blissey.
I love how this team takes advantage of the popularity of Sand Storm teams to gain free boosts.
To get rid of your Swampert problem you should run Grass Knot over Thunderbolt on Starmie. Surf/Thunderbolt gets walled by Swampert and Garchomp but with Grass Knot you will be able to dent Gyarados while destroying Swampert.
Your Garchomp is fine and works wonders as a revenge killer. Contrary to what tennisace has to say Adamant is just fine. Since you are not running Crunch on it, Cresselia and Bronzong will wall you regardless of nature. I suggest you run Crunch over Stone Edge. Without Fire Blast Skarmory walls your team that is of course if you go with Grass Knot on Starmie.
