TEAM AT GLANCE
INTRO
This team is in the making since 3 months and I think this version is the best right now. It is an offensive team that is able to build up pressure early on and hold it through the end of a match while having a good defense or without having to go kamikaze. Bronzong and Swampert may seem to be defensive pokemon but fit in this team perfectly, and together with Gyara and Tran they complement each other perfectly. Those 4 are set in stone atm, and are the heart of the team. However that doesn‘t mean that im not willing to replace them if something else works better. Improvements can always be made. So, now onto the team!
TEAM
@ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/152 Atk/56 Def/48 SDef
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
3 Spd IV
- Gyro Ball
- Hypnosis
- Stealth Rock
- Explosion
Description: Standard Bronzong, with many key resistances a very important member of the teams defensive core. Provides early SR support and wins many 1v1s. Hypnosis stuff and explode when your done. Nothing much to say really. I ran Lum before and it worked well but I really missed the lefties and when im not facing a sleep lead you just wasted your item slot for nothing. I also tested Shed Shell but just like Lum if it works its great but if not then its a waste of space on such a great pokemon. Lead Gengars tend to switch out anyway now because they fear Lum. 3 Speed IVs to get SR against enemy Zongs. I‘m not sure about the EVs yet, any help is welcome here.
@ Choice Band
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 64 HP/252 Atk/192 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Payback
Description: Choice Band Gyarados catches many people off guard. This thing punishes all these Deoxys and Scarf Gengars that impertinently switch into you turn 1 it isnt even funny. Waterfall first turn to test the waters (heh); if they bring Vaporeon or Celebi, no problem as I'd have switched out if I'd DDed up anyway, and they still don't know I run CB (hopefully). Earthquake and SE for type coverage and for enemy Gyarados. The last slot is the interesting one; Payback nails Celebi (252/220+) switch-ins for around 68% average, following with 34% meaning it dies every time with SR even if I do minimum damage. It also kills Starmie that is problematic since I have no real switch-ins for this, and it does 75% to 252/252+ Cresselia with 2 Paybacks. Ice Fang is not necessary, the only times it would be useful is to hit Chomp and Breloom lol, but who switches Chomp into Gyara and Waterfall does ~70% anyway. The other option is Toxic, hitting those bulky waters, Pory2 and stuff I can't beat 1on1. It also allows me to use a bulkier EV spread, so I have an easier time switching into Heracross and friends, and allowing Heatran to run a third attack.
@ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 240 HP/216 Def/4 Spd/36 SAtk/12 SDef
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
Description:All-out attacking Swampert with Stone Edge for extra Gyarados coverage. A very reliable Metagross and Deoxys counter that I see on every team now, and a great all-round tank. This counters a lot of stuff and hits very hard as well. This causes a lot of switches so I can see the opponents team early on giving me lots of information about his team. Hydro Pump for the 2HKOs on Skarmory and Weezing, and also two-hits Gengar. Swampert has been working extremely well and this usually takes out at least 1 pokemon and also puts big holes in dangerous pokemon like Gyara and Chomp. 4 Speed EVs to outspeed other Perts.
@ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Will-o-wisp
- Explosion
Description: Scarftran, together with Zong and the 2 waters last member of the fantastic 4. Toxic is no joke, and allowing me to poison those Waters first turn is an immense help. Works as a special wall and has a lot of opportunities to switch-in and outspeeding threats like Azelf and Gengar and getting a quick KO. Max Speed to outspeed other Scarftrans and Explosion when finished. Also kills any SD Luke who is a major threat.
HP Grass is the second option if Gyarados runs Toxic. (Pert weak)
@ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Extremespeed
Description:Lucario is a monster, enough said. Well SD Luke, there is nothing much to say he just kicks ass. With 1 SD under his belt nothing can switch into this safely and Gliscor has a hard time sticking around with gyara, swamp and deoxys always threatening a ko. I prefer Crunch for Celebi, Cresselia and Dusknoir since Zapdos and Gyara are covered quite well and Bullet Punch well I have Zong and Pert for Gengar anyway. Im considering putting some HP Evs so I could be able to set up on waters like vappy if I have to. (bulkario anyone?)
@ Expert Belt
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Atk/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Superpower
Description: Deoxys is amazing, allowing me to revenge kill stuff who could be very dangerous. Destroys Standard DD Gyara, nails Garchomp locked in Outrage, kills Blissey and much more. Functions as late game cleaner with amazing type coverage, and easily saved me a lot of matches should the opponents Gyara or Mence get a DD or two. SHadow Ball for Cresselia and Gengar; this also works as last resort to kill enemy Deoxys if Zong and Pert are down.
OUTRO
Overall this team has great synergy and nothing is just dead weight here. I have played around 80 matches with this team and this team has a win ratio of around 90%. Im considering Starmie somewhere as it would fix my bulky water weakness and would fit nicely overall but I don‘t know what to take out, if any. Well, thats it. Rate My Team!
