The Almighty Archfiends

Since hardly anyone plays GSC or RBY =/ I decided to make a DPPt team. Anyways I'm all ears because this isn't exactly my best generation.

Bronzong @ Choice Band ** Babil
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 84 Atk / 80 Def / 92 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock
- Trick

I start with Babil the defensive Pokemon, whose sole job is to trick common leads like Tauntless Azelf, Swampert and hopefully Skarmory. Before using this set I was using the standard set but sadly it got walled by the likes of Skarmory and friends. Also, I don’t have explosion because Lucario is a far greater threat than Blissey to this team.

Vaporeon (M) @ Leftovers ** Cagnazzo
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 HP / 252 Def / 68 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Protect
- Surf
- Toxic
- Wish

Next in my roster is Cagnazzo, my Bulky Water whose job is to pass wish to the rest of my team. Instead of having Hidden Power I use Toxic because Cagnazzo can still beat the much more common Tauntless Gyarados and fellow Vaporeon as well as those annoying Kingdra.

Heatran (M) @ Choice Scarf ** Rubicante
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Earth Power
- Explosion
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Rubicante acts as my “Revenge Killer” and is very useful in cleaning up late game. Just like Babil I was using a different set. Sadly, my team was too slow and had troubles with faster Pokemon which made me decide on using Choice Scarf as my item. I also use Hidden Power Ice over grass because Barbariccia and Cagnazzo can deal with Swampert and Rubicante destroys Mence if it dares use Outrage to knock out one of my Pokemon,

Zapdos @ Leftovers ** Barbariccia
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Heat Wave
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Roost
- Thunderbolt

Barbariccia handles Physical threats that Babil and Cagnazzo can’t handle: Taunt Gyarados, Breloom, and Scizor. Barbariccia can also handle the likes of Swampert and Hippowdon with Hidden Power Grass which ultimately made me change my previously used Sleep Talk set into a defensive Roost one.

gbc212.gif

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band ** Scarmiglione
Trait: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- U-turn

Scarmiglione hits hard! Choice Band Technician Bullet Punch is too good to pass up. U-turn also helps me scout for possible counters. Scarmiglione also helps me beat Gengar with ease thanks to Bullet Punch and Pursuit. Just like Rubicante; he, can dispose of weakened Pokemon.

gbc248.gif

Tyranitar (M) @ Leftovers ** Golbez
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Curse
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Last but not least, the “Curselax” of DPPt! Golbez is my final Pokemon and his job is to take out special threats that may cause this team some problems. Bulky Waters like Vaporeon are in awe as they fail to KO Golbez and get KO’d themselves by a Cursed-up Crunch. And if you’re wondering I’m using Crunch over Payback because it has more PP. While, Golbez is awesome, he just lacks the power to stop the metallic nightmare Skarmory.

Threat List:

Aerodactyl: Babil and Cagnazzo

Alakazam: Babil. Scarmiglione and Rubicante can outspeed it and OHKO it

Azelf: Golbez. Babil can trick it

Blissey: Lol, Golbez and Scarmiglione destroy it

Breloom: Golbez can take spore and Barbariccia can counter it

Bronzong: Cagnazzo and Barbariccia

Celebi: Golbez, Rubicante and Scarmiglione can beat it without HP Fire

Cresselia: Golbez and Scarmiglione

Donphan: Never see this thing but Cagnazzo and Barbariccia can beat it

Dragonite: Cagnazzo can stall it out and Rubicante can beat it with HP Ice

Dugtrio: Babil, Cagnazzo, and Barbariccia

Dusknoir: Golbez and Rubicante

Electivire: Babil. Rubicante can scare it away

Empoleon: Cagnazzo and Barbariccia

Flygon: Babil and Cagnazzo

Forretress: Cagnazzo, Barbarricia, Rubicante

Gengar: This thing is a thorn in my side but Golbez can usually live through
Focus Blast. Rubicante and Scarmiglione out speed it and destroy it.

Gliscor: Cagnazzo

Gyarados: Depending on the set, its either Cagnazzo or Barbariccia

Heatran: Cagnazzo

Heracross: Barbariccia. Rubicante can revenge kill it if it becomes a major problem

Hippowdon: Cagnazzo. Babil walls it

Infernape: I usually go to Cagnazzo

Jirachi: Babil and Barbariccia. Golbez beats the special sets

Jolteon: Golbez

Kingdra: Cagnazzo stalls it with Toxic

Latias: Golbez

Lucario: Lucario is a major pain in the ass. Barbariccia can somewhat deal with the physical sets. If worse comes to worse I have to scare it off with Rubicante

Machamp: Barbariccia

Mamoswine: Cagnazzo

Metagross: Cagnazzo and Babil

Ninjask: Scarmiglione scares it away

Porygon-Z: Golbez beats them without HP Fighting. Luckily, I haven’t seen Porygon-Z for a while…

Rhyperior: Cagnazzo and Babil

Rotom-A: Golbez and Rubicante

Salamence: Special sets can be countered by Golbez. Physically sets are the real problem: I usually lure them to use Outrage and KO it with Rubicante

Scizor: Barbariccia

Skarmory: Another pain in the ass (Simply because it can Roar away Golbez). Babil can Trick it if I’m lucky. Barbariccia and Cagnazzo can counter it.

Smeargle: Golbez can take the Spore. Scarmiglione can scare it.

Snorlax: Golbez

Starmie: Barbariccia

Suicune: Barbariccia

Swampert: Cagnazzo and Barbariccia

Tentacruel: Barbariccia

Togekiss: Barbariccia

Vaporeon: Cagnazzo and Barbariccia

Weavile: Babil

Zapdos: Golbez

A few points here and there. Dont use trick band, seriously if a metagross gets that, he could come in and explode, which i recall almost can nearly OHKO skarmory. However trick iron ball/macho brace is good, iron ball also means pokemon such as gengar lose levitate, aswell as other flying types. It also makes it easier to take down other bronzongs. It also means that you dont HAVE to use trick, + it can power up gyro ball.

Physically defensive zapdos is fucking win, but honestly i see no need for Hidden Power [Grass], other than swamperts, who i rarely see not being a lead. Hidden Power [Ice] is really just better, and if you do decide to keep Hidden Power [Grass], use discharge > thunderbolt, 30% paralyze means you can stop salamence much easier, and possibly getting and extra turn of Leftovers recovery.

On CurseTar, i prefer Payback over crunch, dont worry about skarmory, vappy/heatran/zapdos easily take care of him.

Wow awesome, the elemental archfiends from FFIV!!! I recently replayed the DS remake so I had to check out this team. I think something like Magmortar would be better off as Rubicante though but that's just me =)

Besides that, HP grass seems fine unlike vGX suggested. I have some experience with Zapdos and after your opponent has seen that you have HP grass they won't bring in Swampert and you can predict more easily.

I'll consider using macho brace but the main reason why I used Choice Band on Babil is because people usually switch into Skarmory when they see my starter and think free Spikes! But in the end, they get screwed over by Trick.

The reason why Skarmory is considered a problem to my team is because:
1) it resists Crunch.
2) it has spikes.
3) it can phaze Golbez and make him virtually useless.

If your having problems with Skarmory try this over

Tyranitar (F) @ Lum Berry / Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP/240 Atk/16 SDef
Brave nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Flamethrower
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Stone Edge / Crunch

Or maybe put Light Screen on Zapdos so as to let tar become impervious to Special attacks. And maybe make Tran a Restalker.

If I don't use the Curse talking set on Golbez then random special sweepers like Salamence will just rail through this team. Light Screen on Barbariccia seems like a great idea I might try it over Hidden Power. Lastly, if I use Rubicante as a sleep talker then stuff like Lucario will sweep me faster because I have nothing faster than it and all my Pokemon will obviously get OHKO-2HKOed. And besides, my team really needs something fast because everyone besides Rubicante is slow as a slug (not counting Scarmiglione's Bullet Punch).
