The Animal I've Become

Note* I normally don't use Rotoms because I have a personal "Vendetta" against them, but if my team could benefit from it, then please suggest it.

Introduction

Hello, I chose to post this team after it has had quite a bit of success but I think it is time to show you guys. There are certain alternatives to the team and you will see them in the team building section. Thanks for reading.

Creating The Team

First thing I knew I wanted was anything but Skarm/Bliss so I picked one. Just from personal preference I chose Blissey.

242.gif

Yep first pokemon was Blissey, so I set out on finding forms of entry hazards, since Blissey will nearly always get Rocks up I just was looking for Spikes and Toxic Spikes. I was Adamant on not using Skarm/Bliss so I chose to use Forretress.

So I had my spikes (And if I wanted to, I could put Stealth Rock on Forretress too) but I needed toxic spikes. I also needed a lead. Being able to absorb Toxic Spikes was nice, not to mention Sleep Powder, what pokemon am I thinking of? Bingo, Roserade!

After this I was almost sure that fire pokemon would come in and absolutely sweep me. Out of all of them ScarfTran was definately the biggest challenge to work around. So the only thought that occured was fighting fire with fire.

Oh god damn it now I have a massive fighting type weakness, this team is doomed to fail, I am almost sure of it. Not only that but I have a ground weakness (Hitting all on my team for at least neutral damage) I guess I can you Weezing to cover these, and completely cripple some sweepers too.

Now it is time for a Spin Blocker. I originally had Dusknoir but I really wanted to change it and try out Mustertomb (Refer to external website: www.monakuskarion.com if you want to know what "Mustertomb" is). It works sometimes but I might change to Dusknoir again.

OR

After I had used the team awhile I realised it needed a bit of tweaking, and I used the combination that I created to run with good synergy in this team. For this to work Forretress would have to have Stealth Rock but It usually isn't a problem. So I decided to show some initiative and use my created (I can't be sure I created it but I haven't seen it on the strategy dex) combo HeatASS. Here is what I got

For the Purposes of the RMT I will only be rating the first one but I will
put my Latias set at the end

So now that I have done that it's time for a closer look

The Lead

407.png

Roserade @ Focus Sash
Timid| Natural Cure
252 Speed| 252 Special Attack| 4 HP

~Sleep Powder
~Toxic Spikes
~Leaf Storm
~Hidden Power Fire
*Overview*
This is a standard lead Roserade that can shut down a lot of leads right from the start. The main aim is to put the oponent to sleep and set-up from there. A lot of common leads will not want to stay in on this because you can run a risk of being KO'd or put to sleep. This guy works for me 99% of the time, the exception is when Sleep Powder misses.

The Spiker
205.png

Forretress @ Leftovers OR Shed Shell
Relaxed| Sturdy
252 HP| 40 Attack| 216 Special Defence

~Spikes
~Rapid Spin
~Explosion
~Earthquake

*Overview*
Forretress is, in my opinion the best spiker in the game. Superior defence, access to Rapid spin and can usually get two layers of spikes (Three when your opponent switches) and thats without going under 50%. This guy is also my Heatran bait, which (if it is scarfed) can be countered by my heatran. This guy does his job amazingly and will stay a important part of my team.

The Sponge
242.png

Blissey @ Leftovers
Calm| Natural Cure
216 HP| 252 Defence| 40 Special Defence

~Wish
~Protect
~Seismic Toss
~Stealth Rock

*Overview*
Blissey is arguably the best Special Wall in the game. With pseudo immunity to Status (Natural Cure) and supreme HP/Special Defence it will claim itself high importance in most stall teams. With its bulk it will nearly always get up Stealth Rock. Protect allows you to scout what moves might be comming at you which is really helpful in determining Special Sweepers or Mixed Sweepers. Blissey is normally my "Go to Guy" for special attacks.

The "Offensive Resistance"
485.png

Heatran@ Leftovers
Timid| Flash Fire
252 Speed| 252 Special Attack| 4 HP

~Substitute
~Toxic
~Fire Blast OR Flamethrower
~Earth Power

*Overview*
Heatran offers a lot of usefull resistances and it has perfect synergy with Forretress. The main goal is to come in and boast a Choice Scarf and Sub on there switch, from a sub not much can threaten Heatran TOO much without being hurt a lot. The main exceptions are Blissey and Snorlax. Toxic may seem stupid with Toxic Spikes but in late game it can really help, esspecially if the spikes have been soaked up/

SweepSt(o)pper
110.png

Weezing@ Black Sludge
Bold| Levitate
252 HP| 252 Defence| 4 Special Attack

~Will-o-Wisp
~Haze
~Pain Split
~Thunderbolt

*Overview*
Weezing offers more perfect synergy to this team, with both Blissey and Heatran fearing fighting type moves and Ground type moves hitting the rest of my team for at least neutral damage, Heatran being hit for 4X Damage. Haze may seem like a stupid decision but it can completely destroy sweepers and can even work on Crocune 75% of the time. The rest of the moves are pretty standard on Weezing being able to shut down a lot of common sweepers.

MustaTomb
442.png

Spiritomb @ Leftovers
Bold| Pressure
252 HP| 164 Defence| 94 Special Attack

~Will-o-Wisp
~Calm Mind
~Shadow Ball
~HP Fighting OR Pain Split

*Overview*
I am sure you all know 105's Mustertomb set and it does not need much description. It is decent for my team but the only thing it suceeds at is Spin Blocking, which is okay because that is all it is needed for. If there was any member of my team that I would swap it would be this, I would trade it for Rotom-H but seeing as it is banned I would be satisfied with Dusknoir. Please tell me what you think about this spot.

Note* If this Latias is used it will replace Blissey

380.png

Latias@Leftovers
Timid| Levitate
252 HP| 252 Speed| 4 Defence

~Wish
~Protect
~Dragon Pulse
~Roar OR Surf

Edit* This RMT has been posted on another forum awhile ago so I am painfully aware of the huge Infernape weakness. So I will probably replace something for a LO +3 Attacks Latias. The thing is, idk what to replace.

You're lacking in physical muscle. Gyarados will help your Infernape weakness and provide a strong physical sweeper.
Pursuit would be great for Spiritomb so you can trap and kill Starmie and not have to worry about it anymore.
WoW might be better for Heatran because there are so damn Tyranitars running around now that they will be inevitably switching in on Heatran then grimacing in disgust as they get burned (if there are no Toxic Spikes). I know Weezing already has WoW but it's just a thought.
I don't like Explosion on Forretress because that makes a big gap in your defensive game if you explode on the wrong thing.

Those are just a few things I noticed. This does look like a decent team, it just needs a bit more offense.

Check out my team at http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71661

Heatran would be much better with the torment tran set:

Heatran @ leftovers
Calm
244 HP / 32 SpA / 12 SpD / 220 Spe
- Substitute
- Torment
- Protect
- Lava plume/ taunt / toxic / wil o wisp

Torment, combined with Heatran’s impressive set of resistances and considerable bulk, turns Heatran into one of the toughest Pokemon to KO in the game. The idea behind this set is that not many Pokemon carry more than one attack powerful enough to break Heatran’s Substitutes. With that in mind, Torment allows Heatran to stay safe by using Protect to prevent his opponent from breaking his Substitute with their STAB or super effective attack. That means that every other turn, Heatran can attack with Lava Plume for free without having to worry about being damaged. This set slowly chips away at Heatran's opponent while maintaining his Substitute at the end of the duel when they faint.

Problematic pokemon are swampert, gyrados, latias and rest talkers e.g. calm mind suicune. Swampert and gyrados, are problems as they useualy carry two supper effective moves (earthquake and waterfall). Latias and restalkers are problems as they can both set up on heatran. Blissey handles rest talkers, and prediction is made alot easier when the oponent is tormented.

The last slot is just choice, toxic handles latias without refresh. But lava plume with it's 30% burn chance is the favoured option.

This is an amazing set with toxic spikes and trick support (trick because it's fun to torment choice pokemon)

Next roserade is not fitting on this team, she may be a good lead, but this is clearly a stall team, and roserade is an offensive pokemon. Forretress can have toxic spikes over earthquake, and then roserade has no need to be on the team. I would suggest a lead celebi in roserades place, celebi also can make use of stealth rock and trick, to help your team out. I just said celebi cus she has simular typing to roserade.

For forretress I would also swap explosion for payback, payback with 44 atk ev's (so you would have to lower his sp.def to 212 ev's) can OHKO gengar, 2hko latias (so you can't be CM recover stalled and it 3hko's a bold defensive rotom form.

I would make spiritomb a rest talker, as you lack recovery, wish is not going to heal 6 pokes. A set like dark pulse / wil o wisp / rest / sleep talk could be useful

I would swap weezing for a roar gyrados. Roar gyrados can phaze the oponent, take advanatage of the lack of SR due to rapid spin. He racks up entry hazard damage, has his own recovery, takes status and has intimidate, which is really useful for stopping a sweep.

I will definitely try out the Torment Heatran. I have been longing to use it for quite awhile now, it's just being walled by opposing Heatran is a bit annoying.

On the roserade issue, I believe it hold a vital part on my team. I can usually keep him for late game so that he can absorb any toxic spikes that the opposition might put down. He also lays down t-spikes of his own and can effectively cripple pokemon with Sleep Powder. I think if I gave Forry t-spikes as well it might just be a bit to much, because he is a vital part of my defensive core.

Explosion will definitely be going out and payback is probably the best option. Thanks for your help so far guys.

Hello, skinner. I think you do know me.. Anyways, let's get on with the rate.

Roserade is fine, standard shizz. Now, you might want to switch the 40 atk EVs to 40 Def, or 40 SpD/216 Def on forretress, since it's your physical wall. Also, personally i think you need gyro ball over earthquake. The EVs could be changed around, but if you want it this way, then it's fine, i guess.

Blissey is fine, standard shizz, although i would go for bold nature, for the defence boost.

I like heatran, a lot. And as other people have said, you can try TormentTran instead of the current version.

Now, i like weezing, but you could try rest over pain split. I know it seems stupid, but just try it and let me know how it goes.

I have seen MusterTomb, used it even. It's quite good, although i feel you need a recovery move, so rest/pain split is a must over HP fighting. Just try it. And, make it a point to kill all normal types before sending out spiritomb.

And, with your blissey team version, without latias, +2 SpA Infernape sweeps your team.

+2 Flamethrower vs. MusterTomb: 105.9% - 125.3%
OHKOs Forry, CC OHKOs heatran and blissey, and flamethrower OHKOs weezing. Not that I like it, but you might want to replace bliss with latias.

Good Luck with your team, very solid.

I've tried rest actually, and to be truthful it is not very good. Sleep and freeze are the two status that really affect him. WoW doesn't cripple him too much, nor does paralysis. I am aware of my Infernape weakness, so I was wondering if a Scarf Rotom-S would be a good addition to my team. Torment Tran has been going really good, thanks, the only problem with it is that it is walled by other Heatran.

Thanks guys :) Keep up the rates

You said "Please rate mine" on my thread so here goes =]

First glance at the team and it looked like no offense at all. I'm not saying that's bad, but you should add more offense. First of all, replace Blissey with Latias.

Latias @ Leftovers
Timid Nature
252 HP| 252 Speed| 4 Defence
Moves:
- Wish
- Protect
- Dragon Pulse
- Roar

Ok you still are faster than Mence and take care of him with Dragon Pulse.

Secondly, screw Spiritomb. He is being used a lot of times now and to be honest, he still isn't great. I would replace it with Vappy and use it as an OFFENSIVE spot.

Vaporeon @ Choice Specs
Bold Nature
188 HP | 252 Defense | 68 Speed
Moves:
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Signal Beam

Honestly, beast. Gosh, it can eliminate many threats here. Signal beam will dish out some nice damage to Starmie who will switch in and try to T-bolt you. As well as Latias, so Signal Beam or Ice Beam on Latias switch-ins. As for Water-types switch-ins, HP Electric, rapes. A lot of people switch-in Gyarados thinking they can start Dragon Dancing with no problem. Heh, they will be wrong and you OHKO them :)
Surf also covers alot of threats to this team, such as Infernape.

Hope I helped. Good luck with your team.
