As almost everyone already knows, Baton Pass has been a contentious issue in the OU metagame for a long time, leading to its eventual ban last week. During May, Baton Pass finally caught on, and its popularity vastly altered the May usage statistics, causing several previously common OU threats to fall to UU. The UU community decided to allow these new Pokemon in their tier, vastly changing the UU metagame. As a result, we the RU community, are about to feel the flow on effects.
When the June usage stats come out and the tier shifts are announced, RU will have a number of new Pokemon to play with thanks to the change in the UU metagame. As the RU community, we will have to decide whether this is a good thing, and whether we want to allow this. And with just a week left before the end of June, this is a discussion that we need to start now.
The biggest thing to keep in mind is that if we allow this to happen, any changes will be temporary. Thanks to the Baton Pass ban, the OU metagame is finally regaining some sort of stability. By the end of next month, UU will lose most of the Pokemon that dropped as a result of Baton Pass. Once that happens, any Pokemon that never deserved to drop will return to their rightful place in UU. We need to keep this in mind, and be careful of which Pokemon we allow into our tier.
