The Concert Thread

Going to the all american rejects concert at the metro (chicago) in april.

I've been to warped tour. Went to summer fest in Milwaukee and saw Panic at the Disco and Neon trees. Went to the state fair and say Train and Blake Shelton. Saw The Devil Wears Prada at a small venue. Also saw Starship, Gin Blossoms, Blue Oyster Cult, Marshall Tucker Band, Foghat, uhhhhh and some others at a local music fest.

Lucky you, have fun lol.

I have seen Cut Copy, Royksopp, Docter P. and Flux Pavilion together and Crystal Castles.

Oh now that sounds like a good concert.

My first concert was The Wombats in Sydney. The venue was packed to the brim, mostly with slutty teen hipsters. Overall though it was an amazing, energetic performance with a great audience. The opening acts were top notch too.

Since then I've only seen one other, being a double show with The Drums and Cults. Both of them sounded ridiculously good, if not even better than they do in studio. I wanted to see Fleet Foxes live in the opera house earlier this year but missed out.
The biggest problem for me is being under 18 (also, school). In time that won't matter, but for the meantime it means missing out on some really good shows, like seeing Cage the Elephant, Crystal Fighters, and possibly Bloc Party this year.

I'm pretty excited about seeing Morrissey on March 14th and Manu Chao on the 17th :toast:

Next will probably be The Mission, in May

Also, one of the finest concerts I've been to was Sonic Youth last november. They disbanded shortly after ):

morrissey will never come to my country because of the seals

the fucking seals

NoFX for the second time in June is all I have planned at the moment. Morrissey is on my list of people to see before they die/retire but I keep missing his tours.

I'd really like to see NoFX live, they're a really good band.

As for me, I recently went to see Anthony Green on his beautiful things tour. (Any Circa Survive fans on Smogon?) I'm also extremely excited for April as Lydia is starting to tour with the Maine and Arkellis, and I was so sad when Lydia decided to stop making music. ;-;

As for past concerts, I've seen Circa Survive, The Drums, Arcade Fire (was one of the best concerts i've been to) and some local bands play at the house of blues.

I have also lost the ability to count the shows I've seen, though only a few were standouts.
My first, at the tender age of 14, was The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and no band has ever topped that performance. I'd honestly recommend seeing them to anyone who has the opportunity - they're absolutely phenomenal live, even if you're not a huge fan of the studio material.
I saw Cake live about a year and a half ago, and will be seeing them again in May. One of my favorite bands of all time, definitely agree that they're a stellar live act.

Lost count of the bands and times I've seen shows but I have a habit of seeing Screaming Females when I'm randomly looking for a show. They're always playing in Brooklyn or Manhattan. Good live act and they're cheap to see so check them out if they're ever in your area.

hmm let's see

i've seen Anamanaguchi four times (twice at consecutive PAXes, they play shows in Seattle a lot and I get in free most of the time because we're pretty close to them) and hung out with them every time, they're really, really awesome guys (Peter and I play words with friends a lot it's my claim to fame B))) ), they have incredible energy and always have a fucking great show

i've seen a stupid amount of chiptune bands and artists play because my roommate is a semi-prominent figure in that scene; Starscream, Spamtron, all sorts of talented guys

i saw As Tall as Lions open up for dredg, which is still probably my favourite show of all time - i'd never heard of ATAL before and now they're one of my favourite bands (dredg was also fucking incredible, this was the Pariah tour)

saw Silversun Pickups / Muse at keyarena, which was a great show - really, really awesome light show for muse and they actually played Ruled by Secrecy, which surprised me; silversun was incredible and Nikki (their bassist) is the cutest little thing she was rocking out in her little red pumps and this tight red dress i want to kiss her face

and i'm seeing Radiohead for the first time in April and based on what my friends have told me about the Tampa show a while ago i'll be crying like a baby the entire time i can't fucking wait

How good was Blue Oyster Cult? I've seen some live footage of them and they look like they do a pretty great live set, is this true?

You are one lucky, lucky man.
Anamanaguchi + Starscream are my favourite chiptune artists. Its a shame the australian scene is so lacking, although I know that its only growing larger and more popular, especially in Melbourne. I hope to one day see at least Anamanaguchi live, they are definitely on my list.

Also muse + silversun sounds glorious.

I'm seeing Florence and The Machine (who I'm a little bit in love with, won't lie), Snow Patrol and the Temper Trap in Dublin on the 8th of July. You cannot fathom my excitement. Totally making a weekend of it.

I was on that Cartoon Network show Fridays a couple times when they had musical guest performances so I saw Los Lonely Boys, Cartel, Ne-Yo, and Morning Wood. But that was when I was in the 5th grade.

My first real, full concert was on my 15th birthday. My best friend was going to see Muse and had an extra ticket so she took me along. That was an excellent first concert.

Since then I've been to an impromptu Man Man concert and I saw Beirut (holy fuck it's a good thing it's March because I would have lost No Fap February just thinking about that concert) last October. I'm going to see Dr. Dog on Sunday and I'm going to Andrew Bird in a couple weeks. I just bought tickets for me and my girlfriend to go see Of Montreal in April.

I also do gigs myself. Bass guitar and vocals yay

I really fucking love Beirut.

i plan on seeing radiohead in late may, foster the people in mid june and maybe passion pit like a week later. can't wait.

shoulda saw the black keys a few days ago. i didn't know they existed at the time though. :/

I've actually never been to a real concert. I lived in a small town with no one really interesting coming near by (except for One Republic once) and after I moved here, it still isn't too common. Of course, we got free tickets to a Flo Rida, Ludacris, and jay Sean concert but I was out of town that day. Most of the other ones are during the Indian summer break, which for me, since I'm in an international school, is during my exam season. Like, for example, the David Guetta concert tomorrow, will probably end the morning of my math exam -_-

I did see a parikrama concert, because it was organized by a group of schools, but then again, whose heard of them? The opening acts sucked too, so it was kinda underwhelming, though they were pretty good.

Have tickets for front standing Radiohead in Brisbane, so keen

Although it might clash with a university assessment day, but how hard is to to sell Radiohead haha

Oh god so lucky. I was trying to go to my aunt's in April
I guess there is still the TV version of the concert. ;-;

Good: Had the money for the tickets.
Bad: Didn't have money for tickets for the plane.
Incredibly bad: My aunt got sick and was translated to a hospital.

Late post and I've already written it but thanks shitty computer. But
ELTON JOHN
Amazing concert featuring the man himself, Nigel Olsson, Davey Johnstone, and Kim Bullard, featuring 2Cellos which I had never heard before but they did most of the introduction and they were great. It was pretty much a "favorites tour" which was mostly classics with a few no-name songs that Elton decided to throw in. My seat wasn't terribly close but I still enjoyed it immensely
