With his huge physical defense, he can come in on any attack or the DD and then Ice Shard you into oblivion. . . And Mence doesn't have the luxury of Sand Veil hax like 'Chomp does.

EDIT: Mamoswine will ALMOST die, while Salamence will die to a LO Ice Shard. Most likely, though, Mamoswine's coming in on the DD, so BB isn't usually a problem.
 
Max it'll do is probably 75-85% when switching in. Ice Shard OHKOs it.

And Magnezone is a counter to Skarmory, even with Shed Shell, because Magnezone forces the Skarm user to either switch out or die. Think how stupid it would be to apply the "lol it doesn't trap it" argument to, say, Weezing as a Heracross counter. Just because Weezing doesn't trap Heracross doesn't make it any less of a counter.
 
Doing it for Skarmory was right.
Magnezone. Counters. Skarmory. Even with Shed Shell. Anything that forces an opponent to either switch or die is a counter. End of discussion.

By your own logic, that Tyranitar does not counter Zapdos, because I can just U-Turn to Hippowdon. We both know that's stupid.
 
Not without doing damage, and taking none :D. The whole point of that post was to say that saying Zapdos is not countered because it has U-Turn is a retarded argument, along the same lines of logic as Magnezone does not counter Skarmory because Skarmory has Shed Shell.
 
Hey, this thread is for countering, not crying like babies. Magnezone does counter Skarmory because it does not always carry a shed shell and Tyranitar does counter Zapdos because it does not always carry U-turn. U-turn is aslo SE so it could just be an attack attempt.

How does Counter beat me?
My highest damage is Head Smash.
You come in on one and take 51-60%.
I outspeed you for the 2HKO.

Or you come in on my Aqua Tail and take ~1/3 of your life.
I hit you again with it, your counter doesn't OHKO me.
I hit you again with it, you die.

My EQ is a 5HKO on you and your EQ is a 4HKO on me, but I got one before you. Still plausible in your case with Counter and Reflect.
Double-edge is a BIGNUMHKO, you'll kill me first.

In any event, if you can't stop Head Smash, you can't really be a counter.
