The day before Friday the 13th (Wobbuffet Warstory)

note: Gen. Empoleon's system is awesome so I'm using a lot of it in my battle, such as the Percentages and the Rules.

note 2: sorry that its another warstory so soon but this was a good battle that was fun to play and had an exciting finish. Besides, I posted the other one like 4 days ago man.

I was having a grand ole time on Shoddy, having built a new Uber team and having win streak of over 20. Feeling hot and indestructable, I challenged Theorymon, "the innovator of uber" to a match to truly test my team out. What could possibly happen!

Enjoy:

Theorymon sent out Apollo Justice (lvl 100 Deoxys-e).
kd24 sent out Groudon (lvl 100 Groudon).

The game starts out with my lead Groudon matched up against his Deoxys-e. Lead Groudon is personally my favorite lead because it matches up so well with other leads like Deoxys-e, Darkrai, Scizor, Dialga, and other Groudon. Although I usually like to get up my Stealth Rock quickly (Stealth Rock is what turns so many 2hkos into 1hkos in the uber metagame), I was on a taunting streak ie: every deoxys lead so far had taunted me first turn. Not wanting to get mocked by Deoxys, I comfortably Earthquake, knowing it is a 2hko.

Theorymon doesn't waste any time laying down Spikes and I know from others that he runs a Wobbuffet + Lucario team, the very one that inspired mine! Not wanting him to get anything more than 2 layers, I simply have to strike again. I don't know his complete team and I don't want to fall victim to a Rayquaza or Latias switch-in so I Dragon Claw, hoping to catch a switch in should he preserve Deoxys, while still being able to ko Deoxys if he stays in.

Deoxys-e dies and I am up in the lead early but in Ubers, 2 layers of Spikes can be gamechanging and I still don't have my Stealth Rock up yet. I have to get it up soon, otherwise I am asking for disaster.

He brings in his own Groudon and I decided to Stealth Rock, thinking it was probably Rock Polish sweeper Groudon, a set that I really have no problem with anyway. Unfortunately for me, it was a support Groudon and he now has both 2/3 Spikes up and 1/1 SR up. I don't really have a switch-in to Groudon because my team is just so frail and Groudon has delivered Stealth Rock and a ko already. I may be able to get a very good lead of 6-4 if I am faster.

I am faster and stronger, so I have no idea what he could possibly be running. Perhaps I won the speed tie and the damage percentage war? It seems as if he is probably going to sacrifice Groudon to put mine out of commision so I take a risk and switch to MixQuaza, the perhaps the scariest Pokemon in ubers today.

Even bulky Groudon can't take a Draco Meteor. No one ever expects Rayquaza to do this either and he is probably thinking about Thunder Waving Rayquaza right now. Draco Meteor is also an easy 2hko on Wobbuffet if I happen to catch him on an odd switch.

I don't understand why he switched and can only account it to a misclick switch. I ExtremeSpeed on his Palkia figuring it to be Scarf and realizing that nothing of mine can switch into him. ... I pay for it. I completely forgot about Stealth Rock and Spikes which brought Groudon into killing range. I don't have enough firepower with Lucario to finish him and I am already formulating my winning plan. I still have 2 ExtremeSpeeders left in Lucario and Rayquaza and I still have an extremely fast sweeper against a Palkia at midhealth, a almost dead Wobbuffet, and a unknown Pokemon. I decide to bring in Rayquaza to try and take out Lucario with Extremespeed.

I take out the Wobbuffet with Dark Pulse and keep my win streak that night alive. Great Game Theorymon!

Pros:

- Shiftry obviously, he took out 1/2 of my opponent's team
- Groudon and MixQuaza did a lot of good work, taking down my opponents team.
- Lucario set up Palkia for Shiftry and also took down his Lucario.
- It was a fun and exciting game

Cons:

- I am so weak to Lucario
- Darkrai and Wobbuffet did nothing
- He probably would have won if I didn't crit at the end ... but thats the siren's lure in Pokemon.

I'll send this to Theorymon later sometime to get his comments as well but I have no idea when he will be back.

Thank you for reading! And if I am missing something, please tell me so I can fix it!

An Uber warstory without Kyogre!

Deserves to be archived just for that, the great comments and battle notwithstanding.

And that Theorymon pic was epic.

I'm not going to lie, that picture at the end was my favorite part.
Good read overall though. Methinks Shiftry will soon be Uber strong.

So who the fuck is Apollo Justice?

Aside from the daft names, nice warstory without a certain fish, and must I say, you win a domain name for that pic.

He made a big mistake in staying in on Mixquaza with groudon. His mistake being he should have realised that you switched that in as it posed a serious threat to Miles the Groudon. He should have realised this and switched. This rule particularly applies to pokemon that normally act as counters otherwised why would Kd have switched it in only to die.

Apart from this folly great match. I love Theorymon's nicknames and the shiftry sweep at the end was beautiful.

Obviously from the DS game "Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney".

:happybrain: No shit dude, I know that, but as in 'Who the fuck is Apollo Justice, the pokemon?'

Basically, it'd be better if we knew which pokemon was which.

It says Deoxys-e in the log and in the comments multiple times:

Theorymon sent out Apollo Justice (lvl 100 Deoxys-e).
kd24 sent out Groudon (lvl 100 Groudon).

The game starts out with my lead Groudon matched up against his Deoxys-e. Lead Groudon is personally my favorite lead because it matches up so well with other leads like Deoxys-e, Darkrai, Scizor, Dialga, and other Groudon. Personally, though, I like stories where we still completely know which nicknamed pokemon are which.

Y'know, like when said monster comes in, their nick is stated, but then edited in their actions to their species name.

I'm not going to lie. I really don't like people commenting on the fact that this is a good warstory because Kyogre is absent.

But anyways

Switch to who? Tbh keeping his Groudon in was his best choice; nothing could take a Draco Meteor and he needs Wobb for Lucario set up.

I think my favorite part of the warstory was the hilarious picture at the end. The game seemed a bit too fast, and for quite some time, you were left hopeless until LO brings Lucario down, so there wasn't really a whole lot of action. Two Pokemon doing nothing kinda ruined it, and of course, since I'm quite possibly biased, the CH on Giratina-O made me sad.

Still, the warstory isn't bad. I'll give it four stars, but mainly because of the freaking epic picture!

I kinda realised that as they wrote it maybe they should have soething that can take a DM seeing as it is a very common move in ubers.

It was a good match and a decent warstory. I prefer stories with nore text and insight though, but yeah 4 stars is a good rating.

I loled at the picture. Anyway..the battle was ok, but not the best, but it is nice to see OU pokemon dominating in ubers. Well written, nice job.

I'm not going to lie. I really don't like people commenting on the fact that this is a good warstory because Kyogre is absent.

Amen.

Anyways, it was a pretty mediocre battle. Most was a Lucario sweep, the rest was nothing really. Not exactly fantastic playing on either side (no offense to either of you, but zero of the plays really involved much thought, except maybe who to sacrifice). Nice comments thoughout most of it though (a plus), lol picture. Those made up for the lack of good battle.

Why do I have a feeling this is directly related to flyingsolo?

Ya, the this might have not of been the greatest battle I have had, but I really think this shows just how powerful Shiftery and Lucario are in Ubers. Plus, I loved the picture, KD24 :D. It descirbed my thoughts perfectly!

I think my only major gripe is the lack of editing out Nicknames for actual names. I don't care how many time you say (level 100 POKEMON), when that same guy is in 6 moves down fighting your whoever, I want to still know who's doing what. Yeah, it gets confusing when you and your opponent have basically mirror teams, but that's why other good war-story-ists have using different colors for different player's actions.

The story itself was more or less a fisticuffs match, which isn't really that exciting after the initial "OH SNAP HE SET UP ALL HIS THINGS ON YOU, WHAT NOW?" and that well timed crit was just a bit much (I mean, luck for you, it's still possibly THE thing that kept you from a loss).

However, despite being mostly a "punch me, punch you" brawl, the match was well played and your interim commentary, what you could make, was all good.
