The Emperor Strikes Back!! (Empoleon OU RMT)

Hey guys! it's been a while since i've played this game, so i decided to fix up my old team to compete in today's metagame! now, i don't really remember much, so i'll need a lott of advice if you can give me some.

The team at a glance:

swampert.png

Swampert @ Leftovers
EV's: 240 HP/ 216 Def/ 52 SpD
Ability: Torrent
Nature:Relaxed
~Roar
~Stealth Rock
~Ice Beam
~Earthquake

I have changed Swampert to my new lead because Roserade wasn't doing as good as she should have been

roserade.png

Roserade @ Leftovers
EV: 252 HP/120 Def/136 SpD
Ability: Natural Cure
Nature: Calm
~Sleep Powder
~Grass Knot
~Toxic Spikes
~Stun Spore

Roserade now is bulkier because she couldn't deal with the leads as well as she used to. I have used the sets given below to have the element of suprise when a heatran attemps to switch in, because most people won't be expecting a double status inducer for a mid game roserade.

rotomheat.png

Rotom-H @ Choice Scarf
Evs: 200 HP/56 SpA/ 252 Spe
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timd
~Thunderbolt
~Trick
~Overheat
~Shadowball

Soo i have spikes, but wouldn't it be a shame if a starmie or a fortress decides to just spin them away? Lord Empoleon will NOT BE HAPPY IF THAT HAPPENS. I have made him into a revenge killer also to deal with the huge SD Lucario, Starmie, and DD gyarados. Take that Homeboys

infernape.png

Infernape @ Life Orb
EV's 252 Atk/64 SpA/192 Spe
Ability: Blaze
Nature: Naive
~Close Combat
~Stone Edge
~Overheat
~U-Turn

I changed Infernape to be more of a physically based Ape, mainly because I needed atleast one Physical powerhouse with my Special attackers. He will be able to take care of snorlax and blissey, two of my most hated enemies. and if needed to, i can U-turn out if i see a Suicine or a Vaporeon and change to Jirachi

jirachi.gif

Jirachi @ Leftovers
EV's: 252 HP/220 Def/36 Spe
Ability: Serene Grace
Nature: Bold
~Wish
~Calm Mind
~Psychic
~Thunderbolt

I replaced Cress so that i have someone to can counter check gengar, who i had a huge glaring weakness too. Wish will allow me to heal my pokes, and also, jirachi can set up on the bulky waters that Empoleon hates (Win-win for me)

Empoleon.png

Empoleon @ Peteya Berry
EV's 12 HP/12 Def/ 252 SpA/ 232 Spe
Ability: Torrent
Nature: Modest
~Substitue
~Surf
~Ice Beam
~Agility

Him. The Emperor. What are you guys doin sitting in a chair?! WHY AREN'T YOU GUYS BOWING TO HIS GREATNESS!?! The team is meant to clear the path to sweep for his highness. As soon as bulky waters, and other special walls are out of the way, nothing will stop him. Except priority moves (Shh don't tell him about his flaw)

EV's 12 hp and 12 Def because it's a Berry Number. and then Maxing SpA is important, because i have Agility WIth me..

Anyway, this is my team, and i hope you enjoyed reading it, and please give me some advice! thanks guys! :)

You are ripped to shreds by Starmie. It can spin away your Spikes and Rotom is a risky switch in since a LO Hydro Pump does 66.12% - 77.96% to it.

You also have trouble with other waters like Vaporeon and Suicune. Personally I think that a Kingdra or Jolteon over Cressilia would work fine since they can both dea lwith the water types that give you trouble. I also think that you don't need to run a NP Ape and that perhapes a Physicaly based MixApe is a better option since you can take out Weakened Vaporeon and Rotom checks Gyarados pretty well anyway.

Have a Nice Day!

This team has troubles dealing with todays metagame. Really no everyone runs SubSplitGar and Bulky Spiker Rade. Really Gengar can basically come in on Cress not taking too much from Ice Beam and blocking status with Sub and set up an tear this team to shreds with the only pokemon not being OHKOed being Swampert (cress isn't OHKOed but it can't do much back) A minor issue is Heatrap who can trap your Swampert with Magma Storm and KO it with HP grass. Apart from Swampert noting can switch in safely without getting hit for a ton of damage. Cresselia would be the only one only taking 35.1% - 41.4% +6% for the vortex. Plus Flame Orb kicking in once you bring it in on an attack your next move will havge to be Rest which just lets your oponent bring something in and set up.And as the previous rater told you, you are really weak to Starmie 2HKOing your whole team or OHKOing it once its weakened.

This team needs some major revamping so Ill try to help but you might not like my suggestions which is fine.

Roserade as a lead is just beat up by the rampaging LumMachamps and Lum Metagross out there. I was thinking you should used it to set up Tspikes mid game.

Now the classic set is 252HP/120Def/136SpDef and a Calm nature. Now this set uses the following movesets Grass Knot/ Hp Fire/ Toxic Spikes/ Spikes. You might want to keep spikes but I would suggest the following set. Grass Knot/ Stun Spore/ Sleep Powder/ Toxic Spikes. Now basically what this does is incapacitate at least 2 pokemon and gurantee you 1 layer of Toxic Spikes as long as you bring in Roserade into a pokemon that it scares like Choice Specs Jolteon locked into Thunderbolt. Now most people switch right of the bat to Heatran thinking its the classic Mid Game Spiker roserade without sleep powder. This could help you by taking a pokemon out by Sleep.

Now putting roserade will make you lose your lead which means you got to have a new one.

Sorry for not finishing this rate have to leave will comeback and edit my post later.

Thanks for the information. Also yeah, i have noticed that Gengars, Starmies, and Jolteons seem to pose a huge threat to my team :/ and Roserade has been sorta turning into a sucide lead. Spikes itself would be useful to have, but i'd rather have the element of suprise over spikes.

Hey,

Decent team, but as the above raters have said, Starmie decimates your team. DD Gyara can also be a pain as Cresselia is your only check to it. If it has Tricked its Flame Orb, you're in a spot of bother. The best thing to do would be to Scarf your Rotom, although I'd go with a Rotom-w simply for its ability to deal consistent damage to Scarf Tyranitar with Hydro Pump. It still deals good damage to Lucario with Thunderbolt, and is a guaranteed KO after one CC drop.

To make dealing with Starmie less of a headache, I second Screaming Angel's suggestion of moving Swampert to the lead spot and modifying Roserade's moveset to a mid-game Spiker. This guy easily comes in on Suicune, Vaporeon and other Special Attackers that can't do much to you, and sets up Toxic Spikes. More importantly, though, it comes in on Life Orb Starmie, easily takes a LO Surf + Ice Beam, and OHKOs back. I'd suggest simply maxing out HP and Special Defense instead of putting in a few Defense EVs, as countering Starmie is paramount for your team. A moveset of Grass Knot/Toxic Spikes/Stun Spore/Rest or HP Fire will work well.

Seconding the suggestion to replace Avalanche with Ice Beam on Swampert. Change the nature to Relaxed, and also change the EV spread to 240 HP/216 Def/52 Sp Def. The investment in Special Defense makes it easier to take neutral Special hits such as Rotom's Shadow Ball and Heatran's Earth Power.

Trying out Psychic on Cresselia might not be a bad idea, simply to make it a bit easier to deal with Machamp and importantly, Mixed Infernape, who can also be a real headache. You can also replace one of your other support moves with Thunder Wave. Thunder Wave is more useful against the likes of LO Heatran, and can be a lifesaver against fast special attackers who don't really mind burns. Just something to try out.

It's a good team other than that, gl!

Just a quick rate, I would recommend running a tyranitar on your team, I would suggest a choice scarf set which let's your dispose of starmie which gives yours team trouble and also let's you have infinite sandstorm which really helps were down empoleons counters along with toxic spikes also empoleon is walled endlessy by blissey and tyrantiat helps get rid of the big pink whore aswell. The set looks something like this...

Tyranitar @Choice Scarf
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Sand Stream
Ev's: 4HP / 252Atk / 252Spe
-Pursuit
-Crunch
-Stone Edge
-Superpower/Earthquake

the choice between superpower and earthquake is down to personal preference super hits stuff lime weavile and other tyranitars hard whilst earthquake serves as a quick way to dispose of enemy heatran, so which ever one your team struggles more with.

Good Luck with the team :)

Wow. Thanks for the great rates guys!! Like i said before, this is a very out-dated team that was used back in 2009.

Now i'm thinking about having Mixpert as my lead, while having Roserade run Grass Knot/Sleep Powder/Stun Spore/Toxic Spikes.

I Took out Cress for the CM Wish Jirachi.

I changed Rotom to a choice scarf version.

I Also changed Infernape to be more Physically based to help deal with the abundance of Special attackers i have on my team.
