Moreau is a great captain though, so it's a morale blow for sure.

too bad he's a shitty player.

I dunno if anyone mentioned it yet, but Jarome Iginla just passed Theo Fleury for number one points scorer on the flames...and got his 400th career goal last night against Tampa Bay in the 8-6 loss. I guess the goalies heard the score after cause neither of them showed up.

Also, double post, I know, but for those of you in NY I will keep you updated but I'll be in rochester for a few days here (tonight-sunday) for my college hockey d3 national tournament. If any of you want to check it out, let me know and I will get you some information and stuff!

^ I laugh at the ending of that commercial every time.

Sadly I think this will be a fairly quiet Trade Deadline. Pronger shouldn't be moving, Bouwmeester shouldn't be moving (except he could end up in Vancouver apparently)... the only 'big names' that should get moved are smaller 'big names', Billy Guerin, Olli Jokinen, Derek Morris, etc. Oh well.

how stupid does Olli Jokinen feel right now

also let's take bets on when the Sabres win another game, I'm taking October of next season

Yeah, I question the flames decision making on this trade day.

Pros: Got rid of prust
Cons: got rid of our best PK guy, Lombardi

why the fuck does calgary need another fucking center in JOKEinen?? and why did we deal for Leopold? We got rid of him for a reason a few years back...

I LOVE how Edmonton did nothing. I guess they are still of the opinion that their team can't do wrong.

I'm surprised at the amount of blockbuster deals (0-1?). The Jokinen deal was pretty surprising at what was given up, but they never really had a first line center (Langkow? lol). The Rangers grabbing Antropov and Morris was surprising, but they're desperate little shits right now. The deal that impressed me the most was Philly's, I mean Carcillo...nuff said. When we (Leaf Nation) grabbed Gerber off Waivers, I literally went mental and broke some dishes. However when I heard that he may be packaged in a deal, I felt a bit better (especially since I heard he might of went to Nashville, which means HELLO ELLIS). In any case, the salary cap fucks over Burke, but we did manage to get some decent amount of picks, hopefully now we can start underachieving like it was foretold in the beginning of the season.

On to my true love in the hockey world, Atlanta. I'm surprised no deals were even really mentioned towards Colby Armstrong, but I guess Atlanta keeping him gives us a bright future. No deals involving Lehtonen is a downer, since he most likely won't want to sign with us, and Pavelec is just a severely over-hyped prospect.

Edmonton was late in announcing that they scored Osullivan for cole in a three way deal where the kings also ended up with williams.

Wow Edmonton won that trade hands down.

The flames DO have a great center- Langkow went to all stars last year, didn't he? He was certainly nominated, which is more than any center in Atlanta. He's an incredible foreward. Lombardi is a fantastic young 3rd line center, I really am disappointed to see him go but said he was trade bait a month ago...

I'm shocked that the flames didn't go after smyth, who was allegedly willing to waive his no trade clause (he's from Banff so like an hour away from calgary)

wow looks like Toronto is STILL bottomfeeding, trading to get olaf. I love the moves Toronto made, though I wish they had kept Antrosuck. I want Toronto to do as poorly as possible while still having zero chance at a good placement in the draft. Same as Edmonton and Vancouver.

Wierd deadline. Good to see the Oilers get some solid forwards. Patrick O'Sullivan is excellent, I think he should be a good fit. Hemsky plays LW right? I think O'Sullivan does too but I'm sure he can move over. Horcoff down the middle could be a potent line I suppose. Kotalik is okay too, solid 3rd or even 2nd line guy as he's had 3 20+ goal seasons, can put in around 40 to 50 points a season. Good move in my opinion.

Bruins get even better too with Montador and Recchi. Even more depth at forward :/ Penguins adding Guerin also seems like a solid pick-up, same with all the stuff the Rangers did this weekend. Except, maybe they should have got someone who can put a puck in a net as that is what they really also.

Nothing big this deadline, but it still brought out some interesting deals and gave some teams some new guys to toss around the lineup.

Weird trade deadline. Moments after I rip on Jokinen he goes to the Flames. Then, Buffalo gets Moore (I like it) and Tellqvist (I like it as well) and dumps Kotalik (underachiever).

And then we dress Vanek and Afinogenov (!!!) back from their injuries, blow out the Habs and lose Lalime's shutout with a minute left. Eastern Conference, take note.

FUCK YES

Edmonton totally got the best out of the Cole-O'Sullivan trade hands down. O'Sullivan is a solid forward and should have no problem with Hemsky. Playoffs here we come.

Also lol Calgary pulled off a neat trade for Jokinen, but I wouldn't want to be trading Lombardi away...

Edit: Kotalik is okay too

21 goals and 21 assists so far for joki, less than 15 in both for lombardi.

Lombardi isn't the kind of guy you like losing, but now look at the roster of centers:

Jokinen 1st line
Langkow 2nd line
Conroy 3rd line
Boyd 4th line

I'd say having craig conroy as your third line center isn't bad. Hell, Dustin boyd is putting up great numbers for a sophomore this year and is amazingly effective at what he does. Lombardi will be missed, but the depth that was gained at his expense simply cannot be ignored.
