The Everything NHL Thread

Flames are in deep, deep shit. Maybe they should learn not to pull kipper so fast and call a time out to get everyones composure back again. Maybe if they had actually gave a shit enough to try for the division leader late in the season (hell, one more win woulda done it) they'd be seeing second round action.

I thought Luongo/Ward would've at least placed over Backstrom, the other 2 I don't have a problem with.

Also, lol @ Brashear 6 games.
I am not really sure how Ward could place higher since he was pretty bad over the regular season iirc.

Also that suspension is horseshit because Ovechkin, earlier that game, was ran headfirst into the boards so I think the NHL is really trying and succeeding at pissing me off.

Did you watch any Canes games this year because he is the biggest reason that they made the playoffs this year. I think he may have struggled a little at the start but he was great the rest of the year.

yeah cam ward was a rock down the stretch and started pretty much all the hurricanes games.. i would have liked to see him nominated

I followed that he was good at the end and now in the playoffs he as been solid, but I was under the impression that he was less than Vezina-able for the first couple months..

Ward was pretty bad the first part of the season, and it is a full season award - you can't ignore the shitty first half because of the strong second half. The three finalists were strong all year. Similarly, Luongo was injured half the year, can't really expect a nomination when you're out a few months.

Thomas definitely wins it but I hope Mason gets some votes, he's sure earned them.

I gotta say that at least Calgary was consistent this year- they repeatedly were able to raise the hopes of the calgary fans and then dash them quite expertly. They have some major answering to do to the fans this year, they have a great team but just keep shitting the bed over and over.

Now that SJ is out, I hate Anaheim even more. Those cocks.

GO NEW JERSEY YOU ARE MY LAST AND ONLY HOPE!

Backstrom basically has the same situation as Luongo where he doesn't get any goal support from his team. His numbers are damn good too. He really deserves it because he gets no credit being on a team with really one other good player, Koivu. I would say Thomas is least deserving since his team is so good.

In other news: BRING ON THE DUCKS! Time for revenge for two years ago.

I dunno man, we're cookin some Shark meat right now that nobody even expected us to cook =P.

IMO, I think the Red Wings are greater than the Sharks. Red Wings are so experienced and coming off a similar championship lineup. The only games I see it losing is to something like the Canucks or the Stanley Cup Series.

I completely agree with you there. The Red Wings have great experience in the playoffs and have been known to generally do well where as the Sharks are the Cubs of Hockey really >_>.

But with all being considered Jonas Hiller is on fire, shutting out the Sharks in two games. Add in the fact that the last time we played the Red Wings in 2007 during our Stanley Cup run we beat them in Conference finals 4-2. We'll see what happens though. Anything can happen really as the Rangers are kind of proving by even taking the Capitals to 7 haha.

Nice I wanted to see wings/ducks match up and this won't be an easy match up for Detroit. I still am not sold on their goal tending and on the other side if Hiller keeps up this play he could easily steal a couple of games and bring this to 6 or 7 games. The problem for the Ducks though is they will have to get another forward line going offensively because even with Hillers strong play they need to pick it up in that department.

I am planning on getting some round 2 predictions up later tonight, but I am kind of annoyed at the Sharks for multiple reasons, those being not really playing in the first two games and looking sloppy last night. They didnt even deserve 2 games out of that series in my opinion.
