The Everything NHL Thread

FUCK FUCK FUCK two minutes to wrap it up and you give it up twice?

whatever go caps or hawks i guess :/

Well I did pretty damn good in round 1 getting 6/8 match ups correct and getting two of those in the correct number of games. I'll do even better round 2 though:

vs.

Boston impressed everyone with their sweep of Montreal and Carolina looks damn good too. Staal and Ward will need to keep playing like they have been to have a chance to win this series. The Canes have the stars but Boston is deeper and better rested. I would like to go with the Canes but Boston gave me no reason to doubt their regular season success. Bruins in 6

vs.

Both teams impressed in round 1 and were the past two Stanley Cup champions. Hiller was outstanding in net for the Ducks, but don't forget Osgood had even better numbers in the first three games. That's saying a lot considering Ozzie was the question mark of the Wings. Both team's superstars produced, but Detroit has more depth then the Ducks. Not to mention the extra days of rest the Wings got from sweeping. Red Wings in 5

vs.

Ovechkin vs. Crosby!!!! I wouldn't be surprised if the NHL hired some guys to shine a laser pointer in Broduers eyes to make sure this matchup happened. Also we won't have to worry as much with versus only playing these two team's games since their playing each other. Anyway both these teams actually disappointed me in round 1 and I wasn't planning on picking either in round 2. So I'm torn between the erradic Capitals or the Penguins who probably shouldn't have lost their 1 series if it weren't for the Flyers giving away two games. I think Pittsburgh is the better team overall. They are also more rested and experienced thanks to their run last year. However the Capitals were determined after going down 3-1 to the Rangers and if they can play all games like that they will win. I don't think they will play like that though. Penguins in 7

vs.

Luongo looked sharp against the Canucks sweep of St. Louis, but the Blackhawks are going to score more goals than the Blues did. If Vancouver can't give Luongo more goal support they will not beat Chicago. Chicago will also not squander 5 on 3's like the Blues did. The Canucks will have to play better to win this series and I don't see it happening. Blackhawks in 6

Okay, so first off, I am glad my idea to steal icons from NHL.com worked out and that people are still using them!! WOOHOO.

vs.

Boston was solid and after 7 games with the Devils I think the Hurricanes will be a bit tired. However, I still think they will net a game but I think the Bruins will finish this in 5.

vs.

Oh dear lord, the one matchup I didnt want to see. I think the Ducks will give the Wings a really good run and take it to 7 where the Wings will prevail. Getzlaf and Ryan have a chance to be the difference makers and actually win the Ducks the series but I dont think Hiller or Giguere can stand up to Detroit which is why I am taking them in 7.

vs.

BUM BUMMM BUMMMMMMMM. Caps in 6.

vs.

Outside of the Wings/Ducks I think this will be the hardest fought series of the playoffs and I think the Hawks will sneak away with this in 7 as well.

I went 7/8 in round 1 which allows me to pretty much stick to my early predictions, which I made up to the finals

vs.

Carolina in 6

vs.

Red Wings in 6

vs.

Pittsburgh in 7

vs.

Canucks in 5

Was 7/8 in the first round mainly because the only upset was ducks .

vs.

Boston in 5

vs.

Ducks in 7

vs.

Pittsburgh in 5

vs.

Vancouver in 6

As well as the Ducks handled San Jose (for a myriad of reasons), I think it would be foolish to pick against the Red Wings! I wouldn't be surprised by an upset, but I wouldn't hesitate to put money on a Detroit series win. It might take seven games, but they'll pull it out somehow.

Canes and Ducks bandwagon represent.

vs.

I loved the fact that the Hurricanes sent the Devils packing, however the Bruins are really solid this year. I would love to see them advance, but the Bruins will win this one without too much trouble.
Bruins in 5

vs.

The oh-I-hate-them-so-much Wings versus the Mighty Ducks. This series will all depend on Hiller's game. The ducks are always good in the playoff with rookie (debut in playoffs) goalies, and Hiller showed that in the first round. I haven't seen Detroit play much this year, but I hope this series will also be the last time I'll see them play this year. I root for the ducks, but I expect the Wings will take this one home.
Red Wings in 7

vs.

Battle of the superstars, but I will keep this one short. I just prefer watching Ovechkins game then Crosby's. I expect Washington to take this one home, they are on a roll since their shitty start versus New York.
Capitals in 6

vs.

Vancouver had a sort of a walkover versus the blues, they didn't put up much competition. Chicago sent the Flames packing, which was a tougher opponent then St. Louis. I expect the young guns of the hawks to make Luongo's playoff run end here.
Blackhawks in 6

lol blackhawks, i was more worried about the blues than i am worried about them. they'll throw a hissy fit the moment they start losing.

here is how the last canucks and blackhawks game went, a 4-0 canucks victory

I think the Hawks will actually beat the Canucks because, to be honesty, St. Louis really didnt look good at all, plus I think when Chicago throws a "hissy fit" they just attack people so be wary of that.

I am so disappointed in the devils. Well, not really, they just had a small lapse that cost them the series. With them, the sharks and flames all gone, all I have to cheer for is for everyone but chicago to lose in the west. I hate most teams in the playoffs right now.

I guess the best I can hope for is carolina versus chicago final, and that is pathetic. Though if Vancouver won the cup, that would be incredible momentum for that city going into the winter olympics it is hosting next year.

I think I was 4/8, but that's what I get for picking underdogs =[ Too lazy to put shit in, so just gonna give quick predicts:

vs.

Carolina in 6

vs.

Detroit in 6

vs.

Capitals in 6

vs.

Vancouver in 6

Leave jackal alone he's just jealous that his team wasn't bad enough to get a great draft and wasn't good enough to do something useful this season

Stealing pretty pictures, figured I'd better get going with this round's predictions with a game in an hour...

vs.

This will probably be pretty interesting but Boston looks pretty dominant, I think the winner of the other series will make things real interesting for them, but I'm not sure the Canes, hot or no, have what it takes. 7 games vs. 4 in the previous series is factor too. Boston in 6.

vs.

This will be a great series, as was the one two years ago where the Ducks eliminated Detroit on their way to the cup. It's a pity Niedermayer and Pronger are getting up there because I think this rivalry has potential to be as close to DET/COL of the old days as the West has right now -expect a great series. I think Detroit will pull it out with additions since that match-up like Stuart and Hossa, as well as more experience for some of the younger guys. Goalie switches since then on both sides as well, which will probably decide the series. Detroit in 7

vs.

NHL brass is probably still cleaning up their pants from this match-up finally occurring. I refuse to predict the Penguins in this one; do it for me Ovie!

Caps in 7

vs.

This should be pretty good, I'm hearing a surprising amount of people who think the Hawks are going to lose this because they aren't physical enough, but being physical is exactly why they got past Calgary in the first place. I think they'll rough up the Sedin sisters enough to get by here, but Khabs vs. Luongo will be key too and the nod is obviously to the Canucks in theory, there.

Blackhawks in 6

I think the Ducks/Wings matchup could be solid too but I am predicting that the Ducks franchise is going to go to the shitter within a few years similar to what happened to Colorado. It is funny that the Wings have managed to stay strong while their old rivals just kind of fizzled out...

7/8 last round. I don't even remember # of games.

vs.

Carolina in 7

vs.

Detroit in 5

vs.

Pittsburgh in 6

vs.

Vancouver in 5

go pens go nucks etc etc

Moot, I dont mean to offend or make fun of you, but we usually like to give some reasoning behind our choices rather than just laying it out there because that would get boring and also there is nothing to read!
