The Forgotten Olympians

DEIMOS: God of Terror
images

Deimos (Sawk) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Lonely Nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Payback
- Reversal

Sawk is a monster in NU, really only needing one move, close combat. Its my estimate that probably 50-60% of the NU tier will be OHKO'ed by a STAB close combat, and sturdy allows for a second chance at anything it doesn't. Flying type switch-ins are all to common, but stone edge often ohkos on the switch. Even if it misses, i get another chance the next turn. Psycics are hit hard by payback if they attempt to switch in. Reversal becomes a 200 BP STAB after sturdy, increasing Sawk's deadliness.

AEOLUS, God of Winds
images

Aeolus (Swellow) (F) @ Flame Orb
Trait: Guts
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Facade
- U-turn
- Protect
- Brave Bird

With a Guts-Boosted facade, Swellow can kill almost anything. The few walls that bother Sawk, such as Weezing, will fall to swellow, who is also nicely immune to any status that may be inflicted upon it. Brave Bird cleans up the few things that resist facade, and with Sawk by her side, even steel and rock types will fall to the physical duo of sweepers.

NEMESIS: Godess of Revenge
images

Nemesis (Magmortar) (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Vital Spirit
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Focus Blast

This thing is almost impossible to wall. With almost perfect super effective coverage, Magmortar can, and will, ravage teams. If, by some chance, a really good special wall comes into play, Sawk or Swellow will kill them off with ease. Quagsire is one of the few pokemon who threaten my team, but HP grass will OHKO with no problem.

Nike: Goddes of Victory
images

Nike (Vileplume) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Effect Spore
EVs: 176 Def / 252 SAtk / 56 SDef / 24 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Giga Drain
- Aromatherapy
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Ice]

A suprisingly effective special sweeper, Vileplume can take hits with ease before 1 or 2-HKOing a high amount of NU pokemon. With Magmortar's weaknesses to rock, ground, and water, Vileplume is a key partner, getting a Super Effective STAB on all three. Outspeeding Exeggutor is a nice bonus as well, considering sludge bomb ohko's it. Flying type switch-ins are destroyed by HP Ice, and aromatherapy prevents a crippling status.

KRATOS: God of Power
images

Kratos (Regirock) @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 232 HP / 24 Spe / 252 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Curse
- Drain Punch
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Slide

Stealth Rocks is crucial on such an offensive team, but the other 3 moves are the main focus. With the curse set, regirock can tank massive hits before ravaging through the opponents pokemon. With good coverage, he is hard to stop. After a few curses, he can wall the entire physical side of NU with ease.

Amphitrite: Goddess of the Sea
images

Amphitrite (Basculin) (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Crunch
- Facade

Basculin serves as my revenge killer most of the time. He shines like a star using Waterfall. First of all, he has Adaptability, boosting its power. Secondly, he gets a STAB from it, and 3rd, he is banded. For the few things that outspeed him, he has Aqua Jet. His HP evs allow him to kill off any annoying walls with Final Gambit once he's done ruining the opponent's team, and therefore makes him a star player on my team. This monster is very rarely walled by anything that isn't grass or electric type. With the abundance of regirock variants running around NU, such a powerful water type is like a blessing for my team. Almost everyone underestimates his sheer power, and send out weakened pokemon to counter him, only to be quickly finished. Basculin is mainly used for late game sweeping.

Threats: Musharna: Mushy walls the crud out of me...
Shell Smashers: If they set up, im screwed

Sawk (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Lonely Nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Payback
- Reversal

Swellow (F) @ Flame Orb
Trait: Guts
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Facade
- U-turn
- Protect
- Brave Bird

Magmortar (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Vital Spirit
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Focus Blast

Vileplume (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Effect Spore
EVs: 176 Def / 252 SAtk / 56 SDef / 24 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Giga Drain
- Aromatherapy
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Regirock @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 232 HP / 252 SDef / 24 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Curse
- Drain Punch
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Slide

Basculin (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Crunch
- Facade

why on earth are you using heat wave over fire blast or flamethrower ?_? more in depth rate coming tomorrow probably, tired atm, quick note though: gorebyss 6-0es you if sturdy is broken

yeah, i hav to agree with shen. if you want power, use fire blast. if you want reliability use flamethrower. trying to do both in one move is a bad idea.

I don't really know NU but Ground + Fighting coverage on Sawk is kind of pointless. I would use Reversal over EQ. It can be pretty good when Sturdy is broken.

Edit: I'd use a bulkier set on Regirock with some SpD EVs.

It would be nice to see an overview of how your team plays, but I assume this is a full-on offensive team? If that is the case, you're lucky defensive teams are somewhat rare in NU! :P On to your team...

I agree with Penance in that you should run a specially defensive Regirock, because Curse already raises your massive Def stat to titanic levels. It is also your only set-up Poke, so that makes it even more imperative. I also agree with the other raters in that you should run Fire Blast or Flamethrower on Magmortar.

Why are you using Frustration on Sawk? Anything that you can hit with Sawk can be hit for near equal damage with any of its other moves. Replacing it with Payback would be better to take on Ghosts and Psychics. Also, well-played Psychic types in general can have a field day with your team, especially Jynx since she can set up easily on a Choice locked Waterfall/Aqua Jet from Basculin or a Giga Drain from Vileplume. Payback makes it much harder for them to switch in.

Actually, set-up sweepers can really give you a hard time because you can't stop them from setting up on you (stuff like Swords Dance Samurott, Sub CM Mesprit, RP Torterra, etc.)

A fun fact is that a core of Quagsire and Specially Defensive Camerupt can easily wall most of your team, except for Swellow (who is easily stalled out). Maybe put in Toxic instead of Aromatherapy? Since your team is offense, it can't really afford a turn healing your teammates; Toxic gives it a way to handle stall teams that can probably handle your offense.

Possible Replacment

Basculin isn't working very well with this particular team. I think a hazer would be a good idea after reading the comments, and after a bit of playtesting, I have realized that Psycics are a threat. Ive been giving thought to some pokemon that can fill a nice hole in my team, and the few ive thought about the most are: Murkrow, Cryagonal, Mantine, Altaria and Skuntank, all of which can eat most special attacks and haze. Skuntank at first seems to be a bad option, but immunity to psycic could be healpful. Cryagonal is iffy, as it wont do much else on my team, and is patheticly weak on the physical side. Altaria is risky because most special sweepers have ice attacks, and murkrow is a bit gimmiky. Mantine seems to be the best option, however, I thought id search for ideas before making the change.
