The Meaning of Life

That’s right your resident knife wielding nihilistic buddy has done it. I have discovered the meaning of life. It came to me while eating mexican with my mom, I’m not even kidding. Because of course me and my mother have deep intellectual conversations about the meaning of life while eating at the local Mexican restaurant. Regardless, I will now bestow upon you the meaning of our very existence.
There is no purpose
That’s it! There is no reason we are here! At least according to my beliefs. You see I’m an atheist so I believe there is no god, so I believe we are just some meat bags floating through space on a wet rock surrounded by other rocks of differing wetness. There is no greater purpose to extrapolate from that. So that lead me to this conclusion, we make our own purpose. Did you ever think about how lucky you are to even exist? The chances of you existing as you are are practically zero. The chances of your parents meeting and then fornicating are practically zero. You are a statistical anomaly. Your odds of existing are lower than winning the lottery, being struck by lightning, and then being attacked by a shark all in the same day. You barely even exist! And yet here you are, reading this post, listening to some lunatic rambling about the meaning of existence. You have been given life, so do whatever you want with it! Pursue your passions because you’ve earned it! You can do whatever you want because you have literally overcome mathematics itself! You have defied the laws of probability and maybe even existence itself!

thank you for coming to my Snoom Talk
Come visit me some time in the indeterminate future where I prove that money can in fact buy happiness, why the human ego is literally the cause of everything ever, and why 2-D shapes don’t exist.

PS: I do not care if you are religious. I’m not anti religion or anything. If you believe your purpose is to serve a god then go for it. Also if your purpose is to hurt people, stop. I don’t want to justify murder.

I’m glad that this thread has been so far very wholesome.
I actually really struggled with existential thoughts. I didn’t think I meant anything and that life had no purpose and that I was doomed to live the same monotonous life I always have. This might sound pretentious but I’m not a weak willed person. Life has bent me over and done unspeakable things to me. But I always pushed through. This wasn’t something I could just ignore and get past however, because it always kept nagging at me. It was through sheer willpower and intellect that I realized that I was given a chance. We were all given a chance. It is just up to us to seize that chance. And in the words of one of my countries founding fathers with an unparalleled capability to rap.
I’m not throwing away my shot.

I promise I’ll get back to my memey self but I just wanted to let those who are struggling with similar issues know that they are not alone and that there is help out there for them.
I love you all and stay safe

No jokes, I find this topic really interesting. I've always been, and still, looking for my meaning of life, because everyone should find theirs. This video of Daniel Kahneman, a famous psychologist who used to talk with other people who spent a lot of time trying to answer this question, explains it well in a way that really makes you think about you and what your goals should be by projecting others goals, because we are different, there is diversity in the world, and that's the beautiful thing of the meaning of life, each one decides and then tries to accomplish theirs.

Maslow's hierarchy of needs puts "self-actualization" at the very top!

i don't think our lives NEED a greater purpose, but living purposefully makes us happy. whatever your "most you can be" looks like is only determined by you~

this is how my triangle looks:
