The Monotype Old Generations Tournament

This tournament will be structured like the Welcome to SV Monotype Tournament, however there will be a few slight changes. Each team will consist of four players, each week will feature three of the four generations. I will randomly remove a generation per week via !randpick on Pokemon! Showdown, this will be repeated until the four generations all have been eliminated from a week, then it will reset. Each player on a team will be assigned into a specific generation, the week that generation is not being played they can act as a substitute for one of their teammates if needed. This tournament is played with teams of four to encourage people to build together and have fun learning/playing the old gens of Monotype; so find some friends and sign up!

To join:
Have the team captain submit a list of four names and your team name (keep it appropriate and not very long).
If your desired teammates do not have Smogon accounts, please make sure that they register as soon as possible and tag them appropriately in your signup post.

Rules of this Tournament:
  • Always play your games in the corresponding Monotype Generation format.
  • You must have exactly 4 total players on your team, the captain has to be a player. However each week will be 3v3. Read the next line for further explanation.
  • There will be no extensions in this tour, each team will have four players. However there will only be three generations in a given week, meaning the fourth player will act as the teams substitute.
  • Like normal team tours, you will play bo1 versus your opponent, and the team is playing to win the best of three between the players. You do not need to play all at the same time, so schedule individually like usual!
  • You must play on the main Pokemon Showdown server or on the Smogtours server. Replays posted from any other server will be ignored.
  • This tournament is about developing the Older Generations of Monotype. As a result, you must abide by the following:
    • Save your replays
    • And post your replays
  • Don't be too rude to each other. The usual Nice User TM discussion can go in the Monotype Discord tournaments channel.
  • The number of teams and groups will be dependent on how many teams sign up.
Tournament Structure:
  • This tournament will have two stages: groups and playoffs.
  • For the groups stage, teams will be randomly split into separate groups. The top two teams of each group will advance to the playoffs. Ties will be decided by total wins, so make sure to play every game.
  • For the playoffs, it will be a standard single elimination bracket.
