Tournament The Official OLT VIII Discussion Thread

Hey here is the FLEXMAN, the most handsome guy of the french's community which qualified without forcing his talent because he simply didn't need it

So I'm going to introduce you to the team I've been using since 1800 (from 1000 to 1800 I was using john w's teams.

I wanted to play a team with a Pokemon that puts a lot of pressure and that would've do the job no matter the mu and surround that with a good defensive core. I went for Tornadus taunt, Nasty Plot simply because it's broken and it destroys most of the team archetypes that were spammed. then I focused on the defensive core and I started with something quite classic with double pressure with Kyurem and Corviknight, a ground type, Clefable Unaware, and Toxapex Poison Jab for Tapu Fini Calm Mind, with 19 ivs speed to outspeed Marowak under Trick Room. In short, a classic 6. The team is quite weak to kyurem but it wasn't a problem during the cycle 2 because there was almost no kyurem however there was a little more at the end of the cycle, personally I was lucky I haven't met any Kyurem. (And if you play this team, please play this version because Ewin know how to copy perfectly the team except the Corviknight which makes the team 6-0 by Scizor. :/) To finish I'd have only one thing to say, glhf for those who will try the qualification and congratulations to those who have qualified.

Oh and GL to Soulwind and Tace for the tb, match of anthology between Soulwind who may miss the qualification because he was sleeping and tace who may miss the qualification because he didn't have the balls to restart a game
friday good for you?

I'm all for having fun banter but let's please try to keep things on-topic and not post a bunch of stuff that doesn't pertain to OLT, please. There are a ton of posts to clear through and I know a lot of people had fun earlier today with these jokes, so I'll let them stay, but future posts in this light will be deleted. Thank you for understanding!

I wanted to take a different approach regarding the Cycle trends by providing interested spectators and ladder participants with some prompts to guide thinking, and in general, help to garner discussion about the kinds of changes we've been seeing! Here are some questions for those interested:

1: What Pokemon or trends have you been seeing more frequently on the ladder this cycle? What about them do you think is prominent?
2: Do you feel any of these trends are things we've seen in previous cycles? Why do you or do you not think so?
3: How do you feel the metagame has adapted to changes we've seen?
4: Have you seen or tried anything interesting at all? If so, what?
5: Do you have any other thoughts?

Here's to a great Cycle 3; thank you all for your continued support and we look forward to seeing the next batch of qualifiers!

1: What Pokemon or trends have you been seeing more frequently on the ladder this cycle? What about them do you think is prominent?
light screen toxapex has my undivided attention in the olt cycles as a defensive safety net vs future sight gking, let alone other special breakers like specs lele, cm fini (pult?) and such. not much to really say, but i find it quite potent on fat which is also becoming a bit common as a trend again.

as said in the trends archive kart has been seeing a good chunk of usage on bo teams either paired with zone, or future sight as an offensive tool for cleaning and weakening down defensive checks. builds like kart/zone/fini/lando/weavile/filler can make it kinda straightforward to immediately get free high ground territory with offensive layers and momentum via getting breakers in safely. offense is the potent playstyle in olt for sure, at least imo- i can see it getting a larger uptick next cycle for sure.

the same can be said for defense- in fact, ive been seeing a lot of np + taunt tornt fwiw as a good stallbreaker and lategame cleaner. tapu koko on fat is a good adaptation to atleast rkill it. directly addressed light screen pex, 3 atks buzzwole is also a fantastic safety net vs physical breakers such as kart and weavile, which is also very flexible on bulky offenses

finally people started realizing that tapu fini was pretty potent, with a huge amount of defensive utility. soft-checking moistshifu, volc, being a great wincon and running a lot of sets such as whirlpool, scarf, util and cm is huge.

gl to qualifiers

won vs sw btw for the tb
"it would be your easiest victories" said eternal spirit I burst sw at 10% of my capacity, I obviously left him the g1 because he made me pity and also because it was good for the suspense.
Ahah I laugh it was so easy for me it will have at least had the merit of entertaining me.
Let's talk about tace now I just saw the BO3, tace was so bad that I wondered if there was not an arrangement between the 2 and tbh I wouldn't be surprised by sw, because what I saw it was worthy of ladd 1500 game.
I hope you will raise the level for tomorrow tace because if you play at the same level you have no chance of winning (even if I suspect you will be better ^^).

yo it's still me flex who is still winning (obviously)
I don't know if it's mandatory to post his win since sw doesn't do it but I'll do it anyway I just wanted to thank the tds who made this decision (I know not all of you are concerned) for wasting my time with this stupid decision but it amused me a bit so it's already better than nothing and I was able to put the fraud that is sw in his place which was my only objective during this tb and it's also those why I accepted this stupid tb without defending myself.
Oh and sw you should learn to say gg even when you lose, it's not good to be a bad loser my boy ^^
That being said, we'll see you guys in po
tace you are much stronger when you play real team, gl for cycle 4 ^^
So I'll end with these words "This user shouldn't even be playing a tie-break. Easiest wins of your life tace and borja, good luck boys."

HEHE !

S/o SoulWind for trying to stop me ( and for having failed)

S/o Tace for the participation

S/o Pheo' for allowing me to do this training which was rather simple
