The Old Man is Snoring (First UU RMT)

Hello there Smogon! Recently I've become somewhat bored by the OU metagame and decided to jump into UU. After lurking in the megathread for awhile, I threw a team together to learn the metagame. After learning the basics, I set out to build my first serious team. After reading Shrang's warstory (link is in the hide tags) I got interested in rain dance. This team is based off of FlareBlitz's team from that warstory. This team is hanging around 1500 CRE currently, and I could certainly use some help improving it.

Team at a Glance:

Qwilfish (M) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Rain Dance
- Waterfall
- Explosion
- Spikes

Pourquoi?
Qwilfish is a good rain dance lead from what I've seen. Since he has spiking capability, it isn't COMPLETELY obvious (it's only kinda obvious) that this is a rain team. Rain Dance is obvious, Waterfall for reliable STAB, Explosion when he has served his purpose and I want to get another rain sweeper in. Spikes are my only entry hazard, I generally set up only one layer though.
Concerns: Would a bulkier EV spread be better for him? The only lead that I've run into that 1HKO's is Alakazam but being able to get rain dance and spikes more often would be nice.

Kabutops (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 72 HP/252 Atk/184 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Jet

Pourquoi?
Kabutops is the best rain dance sweeper, hands down. The power that he brings to the table is just incredible. Water/Rock provides great coverage, which allows me to run priority in the last slot instead of a coverage move. If he gets a chance to swords dance with a decent amount of rain turns left, it is usually good game right there. Swords dance boosts his attack to 722, allowing him to KO bulky threats like Milotic. Waterfall was chosen over Aqua Tail for flinch and for accuracy. Stone Edge is the other STAB move and hits most things that resist water for atleast neutral. Aqua Jet allows me to defeat priority users, which is useful since it seems like everyone and their mom carries sucker punch.
Concerns: None really, accept that Poliwrath/Toxicroak resist all his attacks.

Gorebyss (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 36 HP/220 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Psychic

Pourquoi?
Gorebyss is the best special rain sweeper in my opinion. Omastar is slightly faster and has slightly higher special attack, but Gorebyss has better type coverage. Gorebyss is my only special attacker, and can absolutely wreck teams if they don't have Chansey. Hydro Pump for ridiculously strong STAB. Ice Beam hits grasses and flyers. Hidden Power Grass takes care of opposing water types. Psychic is the reason to use this over Omastar, it KO's Toxicroak, one of the biggest threats to my team.
Concerns: Does Hydro Pump give me any KO's that Surf wouldn't? If not, I'd prefer the accuracy in most cases. Also, would going timid be viable? Being outsped by scarf Rotom can be annoying once in awhile.

Ludicolo (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 60 HP/252 Atk/196 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall
- Seed Bomb
- Ice Punch

Pourquoi?
Swords Dance Ludicolo may not have the power of Kabutops, but he makes up for it with his typing and the coverage of his moves. Swords Dance boosts his attack from "meh" to "impressive" and allows him to beat pretty much anything that comes in. Waterfall is again the water STAB of choice for him. Seed Bomb allows him to defeat water types that often attempt to wall rain teams. Ice Punch takes out Venusaur and Torterra easily.
Concerns: Would a special set be better? It seems to me that people are starting to expect swords dance as opposed to a special set. Would Zen Headbutt be better than Ice Punch just for Toxicroak?

Mesprit @ Damp Rock
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/94 Def/164 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Rain Dance
- Healing Wish
- U-turn
- Zen Headbutt

Pourquoi?
Mesprit is the first dedicated rain supporter. It does an admirable job. Rain Dance is obvious. Healing Wish is great if one of my sweepers is weakend and I want to get them back in the action at full health. The reason I chose Mesprit as opposed to something else for a rain supporter is Healing Wish. U-turn allows me to bring in a sweeper after using Rain Dance. Zen Headbutt is STAB and is another way to kill those dang Toxicroaks.
Concerns: Would it be better to make him bulkier? Since I usually want to U-turn after they attack, would it be better to drop some speed? Possibly make Mesprit more specially defensive?

Uxie @ Damp Rock
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Yawn
- Rain Dance
- Heal Bell

Pourquoi? Uxie is one of the best supporters in UU, so it is natural that I chose it to be on my team. Uxie's great bulk means that it can sponge attacks and set up. U-turn is the same as on Mesprit, letting me get in a sweeper after setting up Rain Dance. Yawn allows me to pHaze and lets me either set up Rain Dance or U-turn out without fear of being attacked. Rain Dance is once again obvious. Heal Bell is useful if I have a sweeper crippled by status.
Concerns: Do i want to make it slower so it always U-turns second? Should I maybe put stealth rock on here somewhere?

Here's a log just to give you guys an idea how my team is played. I am not posting this to brag about beating FlareBlitz, it just happens to be the only log I have saved.

This is what Flare said in the Warstory thread after the battle:

And for the curious, this is also an older variation of my team; it has serious Raikou and SD Venusaur problems, which my current team does not.
Since this team is pretty much exactly the same (Give or take some slight moveset and EV differences), I'll try and answer those weaknesses. SD Venusaur isn't too difficult to fix. You can either stick Weezing (Flare had this later) or Leafeon in as another Rain Dancer in place of Uxie. I really don't like Uxie on a Rain team, sure, it's nice and bulky, but it is utter set-up fodder (If you notice in the Warstory, I tried to capitalise on Uxie as much as possible, bringing in SubRoost Moltres whenever he was in, although I did screw it up). Something like these sets would do nicely:

Weezing @ Damp Rock
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpA
Nature: Bold/Quiet
-Rain Dance
-Thunder
-Will-O-Wisp/Haze
-Pain Split/Explosion

Use Quiet if you're thinking of Exploding, Bold for everything else. Leafeon set:

Leafeon @ Leftovers
Ability: Leaf Guard
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Atk
-Rain Dance
-Wish
-Protect/Roar/Baton Pass
-Leaf Blade

Raikou's a bit more of a problem, since he can pretty much hit everything on a Rain team really hard. However, he's not too much of a problem should you have Rain up. All you need is something that can survive an attack from +1 LO Raikou and put the Rain back up. I'd just suggest making Mesprit Specially Defensive.

Mesprit @ Damp Rock
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/208 Atk/48 SpD
Nature: Careful
-Rain Dance
-Healing Wish/Stealth Rock
-U-Turn
-Zen Heabutt

The Attack EVs make sure that you can break Raikou's Subs with U-Turn. This Mesprit can survive anything from LO +1 Raikou and set up Rain.

Other nitpicks I'd like to add:
For Gorebyss, change the EVs to 32 HP/4 Def/252 SpA/220 Spe with a Timid nature. This allows Gorebyss to outspeed Scarf Venusaur. I've altered the HP EVs because 36 HP EVs give Gorebyss an HP stat of 260, meaning she'll die from 10 Life Orb recoils instead of 11 (I can't believe QC hasn't picked this up yet).

Hope I helped, good luck.

butter,

I can't really think of anything else for this team since it is basically stock standard. I did notice this though:

Recently I've become somewhat bored by the OU metagame and decided to jump into UU.
You got bored with OU, jumped to UU, and made arguably one of the most overwhored and uncreative teams known to the tier? Wow.

Do everyone a favour and keep shit like that to yourself moron. This person has posted an RMT for advice and you take the opportunity to shoot them down with juvenile comments that at the very best should be kept to the rain thread.

Anyway, I will edit this post later when I am home with USEFUL suggestions unlike the twat above. They will include replacing one of the Elves, most likely Mesprit and the moveset of Uxie. I've also messed around with EV spreads alot on rain sweepers so I will try to give some insight on those.
