The real WiFi battles will begin soon. (PBR Discussion)

I can't help but think it's odd that there are NO threads out yet about Pokemon Revolution, even though it will be officially released in North America in under 30 days! Maybe it's because for most people, the WiFi in D/P in enough for them. Actually, that's what your probably thinking right now. Who needs junky 3D XD sprites that haven't been updated since Pokemon Stadium?

Well, unfortunately, sprites have NOT gotten an upgrade, but attack sprites have. Ice Beam is AMAZING, and now with physical attacks you can actually see your Pokemon hitting the foe. People who have played Colo or XD will know that all physical attacks oddly didn't show physical contact. If your a normal person, which I certainly hope you are, then you'd probably think that was odd, and so did I. Luckily those days are over.

What else does this junky game have over past console games, and our current D/P WiFi? Trainer customization! I for one am tired of having everybody else on WiFi look EXACTLY like me. In Pokemon Battle Revolution
you get to make your trainer! From male to female, to blonde hair to purple, to what clothes you wear, you customize it.

Ok, so maybe it does have a LITTLE bit of advantages over D/P WiFi, right? I mean it's not like SERIOUS competitive battlers like us should care about fancy smancy sprites, right? Well, there's an advantage for people who just flat out like battling too. What's that, you may ask? RANDOM BATTLES VIA WIFI! Forget friend codes! Who needed them? Now you can battle total and complete strangers!

And last but not least, who could forget everybody's favourite announcer from the Stadium games?! Well, you'll be glad to know he'll be returning again, without that stupid phrases like "That was rock!". Joe (Serebii) also says, and I quote, "You'll be pleased with the commentator this time".

Watch 2:47 to watch the little Delcatty walk up to giant Palkia and give it a nice tail slap xD

I probably would get Revolution, except it suffers from the fact that I don't have WiFi, and the Nintendo wifi dongle doesn't work for me. Therefore, it's just a glorified Stadium, which I was never partial to. (Why spend $50 for more repetitive battling against horrible computer opponents?)

I know that(mostly prior to DP being released here) there was a thread with approximately 8 billion PBR videos posted, but it's not really as interesting now that we have DP and not it, I guess. A lot of poeple lack Wiis too which definitely curves interests.

I'm personally really excited about it though just because I like the element of team-picking prediction as well as the ease of finding an opponent; the whole friend code entry-get on wifi thing irritates me a lot, I guess! Surprisingly my Wii actually manages to get a signal from my router downstairs so not having to sit in the den to play other people at Pokemon will be nice.

When you try to install the dongle, does it say to insert the USB connecter when it's already inserted, and then the installation crashes? That's the problem I used to have. If so, I know how to fix that.

It's a problem affecting many, many, people, which Nintendo tech support chooses to ignore, but recently someone posted a fix they found on a Japanese forum, and it that worked for me. If it's a firewall/router problem, then I know how to fix that too. If you still have the dongle and want to give it another try, I could try to help you fix it.

What's to discuss? Battles already take years thanks to being forced to sit through animations, add a minute per round and you get what PBR is going to be like. I'm not a big fan of stadium mode anyway, and this game really has nothing to offer. As someone said on IRC, "not even a gym leader tower".

Yeah, one PBR video was kinda cool to watch, but I got impatient even sitting through that. *_* Having had animations turned off forever, waiting that long would be incredibly annoying.

I still believe the only reason that DP doesn't have random WiFi battling itself is because they had to give this 'game' a reason to exist. Random battling would eventually come to the DS in the obligatory 3rd version of DP, along with a new Battle Frontier-ish place.

now if you could turn off the animations and speed the battles up, I would gladly pay for it. Lets be honest, the battles on wifi are fricking ridiculously long. If both players have animations turned off then why oh why does it make you watch them?

Meh I'm with the Pro-crowd on this one. I always personally liked Stadium mode (Though you have to tweak your squad so that you can deal with the absence of Sleep Clause); it's one weirdass metagame that produces cool stuff like Magic Coat Porygon, and actually viable Trick Room teams.

In any case, Competitor will of course be most serious battlers' main source of 6v6 Pokemon once it gets rolling, but until then it's always nice to have a little diversion. Yeah, I was a bit uneasy about battles taking ages to finish due to lag and animations and such over wifi at first, but after looking through some videos, the battles progress quite speedily, especially when compared to, say, watching Blisseys HP go down after getting focus punched, etc. on the portables. And Leftovers, Jesus Christ.

EDIT: I liked the old Commentator though. His tone of voice was ridiculous i.e. "DOWN, THE LEVEL DIFFERENCE IS OBVIOUS!"

I'm also really looking forward to it - mostly for the random battles - although the fact that you have to do it in stadium mode is kind of a drag. The gay friend code system proves how inherently gay it is when you don't have any friends interested in pokemon. Random battles pwn.

DP has random battles in the form of wifi battle tower.
If you dont have any friends that play pokemon, just go to a pokemon wifi chat room like everyone else does.

Wasn't so hot for Pokemon Colosseum, didn't even buy Gales of Darkness, DP makes Revolution irrelevant, unless some really amazing new Pokemon-move combos emerge like they did for GoD, even then I've got better things to buy with fifty bucks.

I am looking forward to PBR, but I'll probably rent it before I slap down 50 bucks for it. I liked Colosseum and XD because of the RPG mode, and they've removed that. Like others have said, we can already battle over WiFi on the DS, so this is somewhat irrelevant.

I like the idea of random battles and customization, but I don't know that it's worth the price for me. I'll find out.

I had been considering getting this game, but honestly there are better games on the Wii to buy. All this is is a way to see your Pokemon on your TV screen, except it costs 50 bucks to do it. I'd rather buy Super Paper Mario, which I still don't own.

I was excited 'til I learned random battles are only 3v3 or 4v4 at LV50 -_-; That's just horrible.

I'm looking foward to it. Nothing else to buy for the Wii, plus it will only cost me 25 bucks cause my bro is paying for half:)

Personally I would have preferred a new version of Pokemon Box, hopefully something like that is in the works. My pc is already almost full on my copy of Diamond.

Well, Regigigas is actually playable there. Is that good enough?

What makes Regigigas usable in PBR?

When you Skill Swap it, instead of it's stat-downs being locked, like in D/P, they reset to normal. It's just Double Battle Slaking v.2, but it's better than being absolutely worthless.

And I already reserved a copy last Friday, although I still don't know how to set up Wifi on my DS yet.

I will buy it because it is a Pokemon game that lets me see my Pokemon on the television. I like to see my Pokemon on the television.

SURF PIKACHU AND LEICHI BERRY GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

This game isn't really worth buying. Random battles are a letdown, no 6v6. I'll buy it once it's like $30 [and I have a Wii >.>].

I'm kinda glad that there's no 6 vs 6.

It make everything focus on offense more then they already are, thus making battles shorter. That and it allows use of favorite Pokemon more. I've seen Japan battlers use stuff such as Squirtle even. I can imagine the looks on some of their faces on June 25th, when CBGarchomps, CSMence, Mewtwos, Palkias and Dialgas start raiding random battles = /

WiFi Battle Tower is pretty obvious about things too. If an enemy Pokemon knows Earthquake, and the Pokemon I currently have out is weak to ground, 99.9% of the time it will choose that move. Even if you switch. At least with Random Battles there is actually a real person on the other end.

Official tournaments are also in Stadium style too, aren't they? At the very least, PBR is good for practicing the "official" metagame.
