The Rise of Cinccino
A BW2 UU RMT by LucaroarkZ

A BW2 UU RMT by LucaroarkZ
What's up everyone! So, as most of you know, Skill Link Cinccino was released with Black 2 and White 2. Since its shit movepool contains basically three good moves, all of which are multi-hit moves, Cinccino has been buffed tremendously. So, I got an idea: Use it somewhere higher than NU! Like... UU!
This is the team that resulted from that idea, and it has so far been working out really well for me.
Cofagrigus @ Leftovers
Trait: Mummy
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SDef
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Haze
- Shadow Ball
- Pain Split
Cofagrigus is THE Heracross counter. Not Shitclops, not Gligar, it's Cofagrigus. I really don't understand why people still use Dusclops; Dusclops doesn't really do much outside of burn stuff. Cofagrigus's Mummy ability is great to have on something for Heracross, as it gets rid of Moxie or Guts once Heracross uses a contact move on it. It also gets Haze so it can remove stat boosts from set-up sweepers. Part of the reason I believe Cofagrigus is so good is also because it has 95 base Special Attack, meaning Ghost-types such as Chandelure and Mismagius must think twice about switching in on it, while those two both basically switch in on Dusclops for free. In addition, I've found Shadow Ball to help me against Slowbro.
Cinccino @ Life Orb
Trait: Skill Link
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Tail Slap
- Rock Blast
- Bullet Seed
- U-turn
Cinccino is one of my favorite Pokemon; It's just so damn cute! However, before Skill Link was released it was rather useless. The release of Skill Link means Cinccino has changed my competitive views on Cinccino from "Weeeeak, don't use it" to "I need this thing on my team NOW!" I mean, yeah, walled pretty badly by Steel-types, but that's why I have Magneton and Mienshao. Wake-Up Slap is stupidly weak anyway, while U-turn eases predictions with "what is the opponent going to switch to". Other than that, Cinccino's only options are Tail Slap for STAB, Rock Blast for doing more damage to Pokemon such as Zapdos and Chandelure, and Bullet Seed to hit Swampert and Rhyperior.
Snorlax @ Leftovers
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Return
- Earthquake
- Pursuit
- Crunch
I have only ever really considered using two things to switch in on Chandelure: Snorlax and Porygon2. I tried Porygon2 once and I found that it wasn't doing much, while at the same time I've been consistently underwhelmed by RestTalk Snorlax. So, for this reason I decided to use an offensive Snorlax so I can smack Chandelure with a Pursuit as it flees in fear. This is helped by Thick Fat and its immunity to Shadow Ball. I use Return for STAB because my team doesn't really need things to be paralyzed by Body Slam. Earthquake covers Pokemon that resist its STAB, for example Rhyperior and Bisharp. Pursuit lets me trap the aforementioned Chandelure, as well as Pokemon such as Mismagius (and Azelf to a lesser extent). Fire Punch only really hits Bronzong, while Earthquake hits other Steels harder, so I went for Crunch for hitting Cofagrigus (on the switch-in of course, can't stay in or I'd be getting hit by Will-O-Wisp) and lolClaydol.
Magneton @ Choice Specs
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon
Now, I understand that Magneton is RU because its Steel-trapping capabilities are not as necessary in UU as they are in OU, while OU has Magnezone to accomplish that job. However, Magneton can trap Empoleon and hit it with a super effective Thunderbolt, which helps make Cinccino's life much easier. Outside of that, though, the Steel-trapping aspect of Magneton is not particularly useful. Registeel isn't even 4HKOed if I recall correctly (Registeel isn't very common anyway), Bronzong will be obliterating it with Earthquake, and there just aren't very many Steel-types running around in UU when compared to OU. Still, Choice Specs Magneton's Thunderbolt hits ridiculously hard against anything that doesn't resist it, and if you think you can simply switch in Flygon or something to block Thunderbolt or Volt Switch, think again - You're getting hit with a Hidden Power Ice instead. Flash Cannon hits... Uhh, I guess Rhyperior? I really don't go for Flash Cannon much.
Mienshao @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Hi Jump Kick
- Stone Edge
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- U-turn
Scarf Mienshao is a beast in UU. It outspeeds the entire tier and even quite a few opposing Scarfed Pokemon, and is at the same time one of the few Pokemon that can reliably revenge kill Dragon Dance Scrafty. Heracross gets Moxie now, but Mienshao gets Regenerator and U-turn. You can interpret that as "I love using U-turn" (I do, though). Even without a power boost, Hi Jump Kick hits like a truck against anything that doesn't resist it, while Stone Edge hits Pokemon such as Zapdos that do resist it. Stone Edge also hits Chandelure. Hidden Power Ice is only really useful for Gligar, but that's a pretty big deal to me because Gligar can wall Cinccino pretty well.
Roserade @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Sludge Bomb
- Sleep Powder
- Rest
Offensive Roserade is a beast. It can put things that wanna switch in on it to sleep and hit everything hard with its powerful Leaf Storm, as long as it doesn't resist it. Sludge Bomb is its best option against Flying-types. At the same time, it can use Rest + Natural Cure to stay in the battle longer. I've used Spikes Roserade in UU but I found it underwhelming due to how easy it was to stop it. Spikes Roserade also can't legally use Sleep Powder, which I believe is too good to give up due to its ability to incapacitate a Pokemon for the entire match. Roserade can still function to absorb status thanks to Natural Cure.
