The Three-eyed beast

Story
So far with this team I had some very great success in battling with it. It has three members the same as one of my old teams but I would not consider it similar in any way. I have had far more success with this team and this team has a completely different strategy. I have went through a lot of testing modifying and tweaking things. This is also the team I am planning on using for the rest of the Smogon Frontier. So suggest if you see problems and I'll probably try it. Critisize if you like I really don't mind it. I will bold any changes that I decide to offically make. I also wanted to make a team with some pokes that really pack a punch. By way the title is referring to Jirachi because he has an eye on his stomach and he is a beast. Believe it or not it only took me about 20 seconds to come up with it. Well hope you like the team and here is the team building process.

Team Building Process
212_scizor_1_m.png

First I started the team off with scizor. I have seen the brutal force this truck hits with and I had to try one as my lead. After this I proceeded to make the defensive part of the team. This was hard to come up with and my first run was really horrible.
212_scizor_1_m.png
th_080.png

Next I throw in this fluffy kid. Having experience with using this pokemon before I knew he would be a great addition to this start of a team. Plus he had perfect synergy with scisor. Now moving on in this so far pathetic defensive core I wanted a specially defensive pokemon and maybe a steel to take dragon type moves.
212_scizor_1_m.png

JirachiSprite.png

Beuatiful This Three-eyed beast fits the team perfectly. He serves as my only special wall for now. Well for now this was all my defensive core was. So now it is time to move on to the offensive core. It took me a lot of time to figure this out and I really thought out the synergy. This team kind off, well really started out as way too offensive.
212_scizor_1_m.png
th_080.png
JirachiSprite.png

Well now that i added Latios to the mix this team was starting to shape up. He has levitate which makes him not hit by ground (covering Jirachi) and he has a resistense to fire covering (jirachi and Scisor's weakness.) I he was the bomb at the back of my team at the time that could blow through anything with a Draco meteor. Now I just need more offense so I put a lot of time into this decesion and popped this guy on.

Here's what I came up with. Pretty sweet. I gotta admit I was looking at someones rmt stole the set misread the item put a choice scarf on him and it worked wonderfully. But it doesn't stay this way which you will later find out. So now I was starting to notice a few weaknesses in the team. One of which was excadril so I decide to do something really stupid.

Now the reason I had him on here was to kill excadril with a scarf and a modest nature but he did horrible. He was a really big disappointment. I started thinking for a replacement for him and I came up with something that actually worked really well.

Landorus was an excellent replacement over Deoxys s. He fullfilled the roll as an excadrill check and did much more. He is probably the best thing that happened to this team. But now I was starting to notice a new problem I had nothing that resisted fire except Latios which isn't that bulky. I also was having problems with pokemon that got set up moves in like stockpile and other moves like that. And I was noticing a weakness to calm mind reniculus. Well I had the soloution to all these problems.

Well with the addition of Latias over Latios this team was really in shape. My team had a really bad defensive core before I put him on their anyway so this made him even more perfect. He also didn't mess with synergy at all. (I will explain more in the descriptions). Also since Latios my choice specs user was gone I decided to go with original set I saw on Rotom-w and put choice specs on him. Boy was I pleased with the results now my team had excellent synergy and was ready to take some pokemon down. Until recently Falardan and Eternal pointed some weaknesses out. They pointed out that I didn't have a SR supporter and a few other things I will mention.

Well Tyranitar fixed these problems perfectly. He answered my SR problem and a few others. He abused my Landorus's ability better and gave me a counter to weather teams. (I don't not consider this an SS team. He also still new a lot of the same moves that Scissor did which I liked. He has superpower and pursuit in common. Unfortunately Tyranitar doesn't have the same brute force as Scissor did but I still like him. Now here is The Three Eyed Beast.

The Team (In Depth)

tyranitar_display.png

Tyranitar (M) @ Chople Berry
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 188 Atk / 60 SDef / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- Rock Slide

Thanks to Falardan's and Eternal's suggestions I put Tyranitar on over my old Scissor. I agree that I did need stealthrock support and Tyranitar has been working pretty well. I kind of mixed together Falrdan's and Eternal's sets together and got this. If anyone sees anything wrong with it please point it out. The speed ev's are so he could out speed other Tyranitars. The SDef and HP ev's are for increased surivabiliy. I have him with chople berry over leftovers right now to surive suprise fighting hits. Superpower is nice for hitting Ferrothorns and other tyranitars but I might replace it for fire blast to hit Scissor and Fortress harder. Payback Is for other leads that are gonna wanna switch but can't. Its also for when I switch in on certain hits there not gonna get away without takin a little to the head. Rock slide is as Falardan said for a better way to take down volcaoras instead of switching into landorus who isn't nearly as bulky as my buddy the tyrant. I just wanna make this clear that this is not a sandstorm team just because of T-tar and Landorus is on it but sandstream does help Landorus. So far T-tar has been working pretty well with this set. O yeah I also run an adamant nature on him for better chances of a kill. T tar has kind of worked as a pretty decent special wall because of the SS boost he gives him self.

Rotom-W.png

Rotom-W @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Trick
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power {Fire}

Rotom is just a beast. Most people on PO including me at first do not realize how fast this thing could be. With my current set he can't really switch in on much but he is an excellent revenge killer and has some moves that my team really needs for coverage. He has the only water electric moves on this whole team which makes him essential. With this set I have him as fast as he can be and I have it so Well lets just say a STAB hydro pump won't feel too nice. Trick is for crippling pokemon that hate choice specs. Hydro pump is for coverage and just a way to smash down a pokemon. Hidden power fire as suggested by Falardan is for fortresses, scissors, ferrothorns, and other pokemon weak to fire. And lastly there is thunderbolt. This is another great stab move for when the pump is not very effective plus it gives me excellent coverage. Levitate also makes him a great partner to have with jirachi. He could switch in on a ground attack and hydro pump away. Right now I am very please with how this pokemon has been working. He's just a monster.
I have him with choice specs to replace Latios's specs.

Jirachi.png

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 216 SDef / 40 Spd
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Body Slam
- Iron Head
- Wish
- Protect
Jirachi or Haxachi as some people call him serves as an excellent special wall and Can really bit back hard. With serene grace body slam has a 60 percent chance of paralyzing the opponent which makes it very easy to get a pokemon in iron heading position. Once the pokemon is paralyzed Iron head has a 60 percent chance of making them flinch when added together with paralysis This means you will only have about a 20 percent chance of hitting him with a 100 percent accuracy move. Leftovers is for healing while making the opponent flinch and using protect. Wish is obviously once again for healing in a combo with protect. This set is pretty standard but I completely understand why and it should not ever me underestimated. Right now I have his weakness covered my a multitude of pokemon but the main was being latias. He resists fire and ground making the perfect partner for him and giving latias the chance to set up. I have been considering fire punch over protect but I am not sure if I should. Without this guy the team would definately fall apart.

slowbro.png

Slowbro (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Fire Blast
- Psychic
- Slack Off

Here he is the underestimated weird dinosaur thing. I just love this guys physical bulk and could not help adding him on this team. He could switch on almost any physical attack. Even though X-scisor is super effective on slowbro, slowbro is still an excellent excadrill counter. He could take the hit in hit back with a scald (maybe even get a burn.) This guy is also a really good conkeldur check and he puts a dent in tyranitars head.(Crunch cannot OHKO him. In fact not all that close.) He has psychic for machamps and conkeldurs that have been becoming more common. And he has fire blast for ferrothorns and scisors that switch in when they see him.(OHKO's most scisors.) Slack off is for recovery in combination with leftovers and his epic ability. There have been times when I was wondering how my slowbro has so much health when I am switching in with him. Then I remember Regenerator! O yeah and not to mention fortresses don't really this guys fire blast either. And believe it or not this guys special attack isn't bad at all.

380.png

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Recover
- Roar

Finally to my miracle worker Latias. He could switch in on everything that threatens jirachi. In my opinion this completely outclass Latios. Latios was good but not as good. I give him 252 HP and 252 Spd ev's becuase these stats aren't boosted by calm mind. His timid nature is so he gets maximum speed potential and his item is for obvioulsy healing. After a few calm minds this guy is a beast. Dragon Pulse is for opposing latios's and because it has STAB and is neutral on many pokemon it will be hitting, which with calm mind will have no trouble killing. Recover is for healing and roar is for well don't even get me started how important this move is. It will blow away reniculus that have been setting up calm minds with. Lets say as a reunuculus is using a calm mind I switch into this. Then I use calm minds until it hits five then roar it away and keep my calm minds. This has worked countless times and usually makes people quit. Latios is just the problem solver on this team. I had so many problems than poof he made them all go away. This has to be my favorite set I've ever seen on him because it just does everything.

645.png

Frosto (Landorus) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Sand Force
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
Time for Landorus. This pokemon is so much better than deoxys s and I don't know what made me try that but I did. I have landorus with a choice scarf so he could outspeed +1 DD users and Volcaora with a +1 quiver dance. Landorus is also an excellent excadrill check once his balloon is broken(if it ever had one.) If the opponent is using a excadrill this most likely means that sandstorm is up which gives me more attack. So I just proceed to earthquake it becuase there is nothing an excadrill can do to OHKO me. Hidden power ice is for salemence and Dragonite who both like to use dragon dance which I can outspeed. Earthquake is for power and stonedge is for coverage. U turn is a move that have I would not be able to live without. With this guy and scisor knowing it the damage just starts to add up as I toss u turns back and forth. U turn is also great for doing some nice damage it a verizon if slowbro is no longer alive to psyshock to death. Landorus is the revenge killer above all revenge killers in my oponion. He can stonedge the thunderus that is too blind to see the scarf around my neck. And Stonedge gives me something to make little Volcaora mad that think they could outspeed me with a +1 quiver dance. U-turn also gives me a safe way to switch into Latias and possibly pull off a few calm minds.

Old Member(s)

Scizor_art_by_Pokemon_Diamond.png

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- U-turn
- Pursuit

Scisor. I could not help putting this guy on my team. He hits like a bloody truck with a choice band. This guy may not seem like a lead but trust me it works well. I have bullet punch to take out pokes that have been setting up and are weakend and for other leads like aerodactyl. I choose U-turn over bug bite because it makes him able to get out of their vs something like hippowdon and still do some damage. Also in some situations I have killed a few pokemon with scizor and landorus shuffling U-turn. Pursuit is for hitting pokemon like reuniclus hard and some leads that may try switching. Superpower is mainly for tyranitar and ferrothorn. If i could get a superpower in on a tyranitar it most likely has an appointment with death. This scizor set has worked very well and I think Choice Band is what holds it together. It makes bullet punch able to OHKO alot of the frailer pokemon in the metagame. O yeah and going back to U-turn, U-turn is a great way to switch into Latias and posibbly pull off a few calm minds.

Hope you enjoyed the RMT and feel free to rate The Three-eyed beast

-Greasypanda.

Hey there.
The first thing I noticed is that you have shadow ball on Rotom-W. Since it isn't a ghost anymore it is pretty worthless, stab hydro pump hits Gengar harder anyway. Replace Shadow Ball with Hidden Power fire for ferrothorn, a really common switch in. Also, replace thunderbolt for volt switch, as it is amazing for scouting purposes, and with choice specs, it is usually enough to take out what you need to.
On Scizor, a spread of 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe works better, as it minimizes the damage you take from Stealth Rock, which is very important for a revenge killer and priority user. Also, I dont really see the point of psyshock on Slowbro, replace it with Thunder Wave to hinder sweepers such as Virizion. Also, you should run bold on Slowbro since it is your defense wall.

Hello GreasyPanda, you seem to have a pretty cool team here but it's lacking some crucial things. First, your team is missing a Stealth Rock supporter. Without a Stealth Rock supporter Dragon Dance sweeping Pokemon like Dragonite or Salamence will have a really easy time setting up and sweeping you. Not only that a Sun team with Volcarona could easily set up on all your Pokemon excluding Rotom-W and Landorus (which it can still find a way to set up on). One thing to patch up with weakness is by using Tyranitar. Not only will Tyranitar be able to support your team with Stealth Rocks, it will give you a solid option to stop opposing weather abusing teams. It will also give your Landorus a 30% boost in power, which would be very helpful to the team. Now, we have to choose which Pokemon we will need to replace for it. Rotom-W, Jirachi, Slowbro, Latias, and Scarf Landorus all look necessary for the team to handle all the common threats of the metagame. We can replace the Choice Band Scizor for Tyranitar. You mentioned that the purpose of Scizor in your team was to stop threats like Reuniclus and Latis, but from what I can see your specially defensive Jirachi counters them just fine. While the priority Bullet Punch would be very helpful, you could your Choice Scarf Landorus to revenge kill threats like Gengar, DD Dragonite/Salamence/Gyarados, Starmie, Thundurus, etc; just fine. So replacing Scizor for Tyranitar would be the best option here. Here's the Tyranitar set:

248.png

Tyranitar @ Leftovers -- Sand Stream
Nature: Careful - EVs: 252 HP / 248 Def / 8 Spe
- Pursuit
- Crunch
- Superpower
- Stealth Rock

Now, I've chosen to give it Superpower instead of Fire Blast beause your team lacks safe ways to come in on other Tyranitar leads. So with enough speed and Superpower, you would be able to knock out other standard Tyranitars.

That should patch up the team's problems. Good luck!

Thanks, I might start testing that soon. You gave some pretty good reasons for this pokemon and I like the set. Does anyone else have any suggestions or objections.

Hey man got your request and this seems like a very solid team to begin with. There is not much to change here, although I'd like to start off to say that I completely agree with Eternal's fixes on running Tyranitar over Scizor. Tyranitar will give you an excellent check to Reuniclus and the lati twins as well as providing you with a good weather advantage and stealth rocks. Besides that, this team is pretty solid although I do notice one problem that can really annoy this team. In general, Scizor's U-turns will be pretty hard for you to take, especially with a more offensively based Rotom-W and the fact that Scizor can pursuit trap or do massive damage with U-turn to more than one member of this team.

Without changing this team too much, I would suggest running Skarmory over Slowbro to remedy this problem. Skarmory can easily take all of Scizor's attacks including choice banded superpower and roost off pretty much any damage taken. Another cool thing is that Skarmory works excellently on these types of teams that have more than one volt switch / u-turn pkmn. Between spikes and sandstorm damage, Rotom-W and Scarf Landorus will be wearing down your opponent very easily which also gives Latias an easier time at cleaning up later in the match. Although you lose Slowbro which is a fighting type resistance and a very good switch into threats such as Conkeldurr and Terrakion. Between Latias, Skarmory, and Scarf Landorus none of these fighting types should be a problem. A set with spikes | roost | whirlwind | brave bird would work best on Skarmory with an impish nature and an ev spread of 252 HP | 240 Def | 16 Spe. Leftovers or shed shell is also pretty much the best possible item choice.

Really cool and nicely built team. Good Luck.

Yep, Tyranitar seems like a solid suggestion. Depending on how offensively you like to play, you might also want to try a Chople Berry set with 252 HP / 188 Atk / 68 SDef and a Brave nature. The moveset should be Stealth Rock / Rock Slide / Fire Blast / Pursuit. Rock Slide makes it easier for this team to handle Thundurus and Volcarona, since Landorus can't always switch in directly to their attacks. Fire Blast is also useful, since this team doesn't stack up well against Ferrothorn.

Definitely go for Psychic > Psyshock on Slowbro for hitting Bulk Up Conkeldurr harder. Slowbro doesn't have a high enough SAtk to break through special walls, anyway. I also recommend either Substitute or HP Fire in Latias' last moveslot. You have Reuniclus covered already, so it'd be better either to have a way of protecting from status and Pursuit (use Substitute as Tyranitar / Scizor switches in) or hitting Ferrothorn (HP Fire). Roar is a lot more useful if you have hazards to abuse.

Wow, it's been a while since I've seen a Scizor weak team. It can come in as a revenge killer or on Latias and just completely ravage you with U-Turn. It takes about at least 50% from everything. The single thing you have to resist it doesn't resist SR and doesn't even have Leftovers.

This will sound so cliche and probably not what you expected when you went to have your team checked out but...

What if you just replaced Landorus for Gliscor, who can seemingly infinitely switch into Scizor. Since I took away your main revenge killer for most Dragon Dancers and Volcarona, I was thinking you could Scarf something else or replace Rotom-W for an Excadrill.

But then again that might make your team so bog standard and typical so if you don't want to go that route, than I advise you to Scizor proof your entire team. That means definitely run Fire moves on Tyranitar, try to fit it in on Jirachi, possibly over Protect and also to be weary about what moves Landorus/Rotom-W might be stuck on.

Wow thanks for the suggestions. I will be updating the recomendations I decide to take later. Seriously thanks for posting everyone.

How do you guys like the edits. Anymore suggestions. By the way I don't really consider what Deoxys S an old member because the First set I tried on him was to disgusting to talk about. Well please feel free to comment.

Hey there,

Extremely solid team you got there GreasyPanda, however, I see in it a slight Hydreigon and Volcarona weakness. The best way you can handle these two is by revenge killing them with Landorus/Latias, so they'll end up killing something, and can come later and kill something else. This weakness is more the case for Hydreigon, as Volcarona normally won't switch out in fear of Stealth Rock to an extent. This is why I think that SpD Heatran would be superior to SpD Jirachi on this team. Since you can handle Thundurus with Tyranitar and Landorus, and Rotom-W with Latias, the loss of check to these grant you an extremely solid Hydreigon/Latios counter while also handling Scizor very well (be wary of Superpower on CB versions though). Here is the set :

Heatran @ Leftovers
Flash Fire
Calm
EVs : 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
-Lava Plume
-Toxic
-Roar
-Earth Power
