Hello! Welcome to my second RMT. My previous RMT was titled Triple Dragon Triple Steel, based on Unholy Calamity's and SDS's teams. It had a moderate success rate, but I've replaced a couple members and find it working much better. I call this team The Titans because the team includes many dominant forces in the OU metagame which can easily sweep teams not ready for them - Latias, Empoleon, and Salamence. Raikou is my backup sweeper, and Roserade and Heatran are my support.

The Support

roserade.png

Roserade (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SpA
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Sleep Powder
- Toxic Spikes
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Description: Roserade is the support of the team. She provides valuable Toxic Spikes support that Raikou and Empoleon need to outstall Blissey. Provided Roserade doesn't die, I can also send it in later to absorb Toxic Spikes as well.

Moveset: Sleep Powder is so I can cripple something at the start of the game (barring Taunt). Toxic Spikes is self-explanatory, and what makes Roserade so important to the team. Leaf Storm is my main attacking move to scare off Swampert (although a large number just stay in...) and Hidden Power Fire is for other Roserade and Steels.

Nature, EVs, and Item: Timid and max Speed is obvious, to outspeed as much as possible. 252 SpA was put in to let me have high damage to hit something before I die. What's left is put into HP. Focus Sash increases my survivability and gives me a second chance for Sleep Powder.

Synergy: Roserade sets up Toxic Spikes that are incredibly helpful for Empoleon to outstall Celebi, Blissey, Snorlax, Vaporeon, and whatever else it's against.

Problems: It's so frail. I'm looking for a lead that can set up Toxic Spikes but cripple stuff as well. I was thinking about a Smeargle... Suggestions are open, but without Toxic, my team simply falls to Blissey.

heatran.png

Heatran (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Dragon Pulse
- Stealth Rock

Description: I dunno where this set came from, but it works... sorta. It lets me kill Zapdos who can't Roost; Vaporeon who can't Wish (and then switching to Latias); etc. Fire Blast + Earth Power has close to unresisted coverage, except by Gyarados, Latias, and something else, but what business does Heatran have fighting them anyway? But still, this is probably the least valuable member of the team, even if it does do that.

Moveset: Taunt is the basis of this set. It was explained in the last paragraph why it helps this team. Fire Blast is my main offense; Earth Power is backup; and Explosion is to go out with a bang. I'm considering replacing Earth Power for Stealth Rock, but I'm not sure. Could someone please give me advice on this?

Nature, EVs, and Item: Max Speed, Max Special Attack, rest in HP. Naive to outspeed other non-scarf Heatran. Life Orb, I'm not sure why its there. I think Leftovers may be better, but I also need help with this.

Synergy: Like I said; Taunt stops recovery and such which cause a lot of double switches, and if I come off lucky in the double switch, Empoleon gets a free Agility; Salamence gets a free Dragon Dance; or Raikou gets a free Sub. Explosion gets rid of -anything- I don't like, save Rotom and friends.

Problems: The thing in general? It's usually who I sacrifice to an attack if I need a switch. Maybe ScarfTran would be more effective, giving me an effective revenge killer? NEED HELP.

just a minor nitpick...but i would suggest scarfing your tran is your team is SD luc weak to an extent. It ohkos alot of your team after an sd and can set up on a dpulse...its not really coming in on much but its just a slight problem i guess...also dd grya really destroys you after a dd if it has ice fang. in fact (without running calcs) dd gyra OHKOS all your team after a dd if SR is up (at least im pretty sure)

Heatran - I think scarfing Heatran will help you out a lot. Your team is pretty weak to a fair few threats that are fast, so Heatran can keep these Pokemon at bay. I also recommend Stealth Rock over Explosion, as you really need Stealth Rock support. Also, you need to maintain your core if you want Empoleon to be able to sweep late game, so having a Pokemon with so many resistances Explode early is not a very good idea. Here is the set:

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Naive
4 HP/252 Sp. Attack/252 Speed

Fire Blast
Earth Power
Dragon Pulse
Stealth Rock

Because Heatran forces so many switches, it is quite easy for even ScarfTran to set up Stealth Rock.

These quotes pretty much sum it up.

The Titans

empoleon.png

Empoleon (M) @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 12 HP/12 Def/232 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Agility
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Substitute

Description: SubPetaya Empoleon is one of the most devastating sweepers there is. The strategy is simple; Agility on the switch, sub down to Petaya. Now I have a STAB Torrent Petaya Surf off 110 Special Attack, with an Agility boost.

Moveset: Agility and Sub are obvious, to set up. Surf for STAB (see above), and Ice Beam because Raikou and Latias have most likely eliminated Bulky Waters by now.

Nature, EVs, Item: The EVs are straight from the analysis. I don't know what they accomplish (doesn't say), but whatever it does, it works. Petaya is really obvious.

Synergy: Again, the co-star of the show. I love this thing - it's gotten me out of countless situations. It can come in after Roserade Sleeps something, or a double switch, and mostly when Latias uses Trick. More often then not they're stuck on a move that's Super Effective or neutral to Latias, but Empoleon resists, so I get a free switch. So in short: Latias + this = great combo.

Problems: Absolutely nothing, except Vaporeon, but that dies to Toxic Spikes.

latias.png

Latias (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Trick
- Dragon Pulse

Description: The main support of the team. If I need a hard-hitter, I go to Latias. I chose Latias because it's arguably the best Dragon in OU, and the sheer power it packs with Dragon Pulse is incredible. I find this thing doing 60% to Choice Band Scizor with Surf, and since they typically U-turn or Pursuit, if I hit them on the switch, they're dead. Simply put, without this the team would fall apart. Unless Latios becomes OU.

Moveset: Dragon Pulse is my obligatory STAB move. Here is where I should address the question: Why not Draco Meteor? Well, Latias is -not- a hit-and-run Pokemon on my team. I keep it in for a long time to do tons of damage. Draco Meteor wouldn't allow me to do that. And also, I find Dragon Pulse KO's everything it needs to, so Draco Meteor may not be much of an improvement. Surf is for coverage against Scizor and other Steels that feel like switching in, and Thunderbolt gets rid of everything else. I have unresisted coverage with this combination, so Latias is sure to hit what it needs to. Trick screws over Blissey, Vaporeon, Celebi, and whatever else wants to switch into Latias. Although I don't get rid of my Specs too often, when I do it really hurts them. Draco Meteor is for STAB and the sheer power of it.

Nature, EVs, and Item: Self-explanatory for the most part; Timid/max speed is essential to outspeed or tie with Gengar, Starmie, and other Latias. Max Special Attack to put a huge hurt in something, and 4 HP. Choice Scarf so I have a reliable revenge killer for Salamence, Gyarados, etc.

i would suggest scarfing that latias despite the power drop to combat both dd mence (which also destroys you i just noticed) and dd gyra.

Synergy: This thing forces so many switches that help everyone else. Trick something that's SE or neutral to Latias, then switch to one of my set-up sweepers (Salamence or Empoleon) who resists the move. Then they switch and I get a free turn to use Dragon Dance or Agility.

I find Latias the one who always takes the hit for the team and then hits back like a pro. It holds the team together, and without it the team would fall apart.

Problems: Nothing, aside from the Scarf/Specs issue.

---

salamence.png

Salamence (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast

Description: The most fearsome Pokemon in OU. Simple as that. Dragon Dance Salamence tears holes in teams. If it gets a DD, something will die or be severely injured.

Moveset: Dragon Dance is self explanatory. Dragon Claw for STAB. I chose this because I don't like the locked-in thing of Outrage, but I could replace it if I must. Earthquake is for coverage and other stuff, and Fire Blast is for Steels (I'm looking at you, Skarmory/Scizor.)

Nature, EVs, and Item: Max attack. Naive/252 because Max Speed is incredibly underrated. Most Salamence run much less than this, and expect a Speed tie, and then they're nailed by a Dragon Claw. Life Orb is for more power, and DDMence doesn't exactly survive for long periods of time, so the 10% isn't a problem.

Synergy: Send this out when something faints, Dragon Dance, and attack something. It has unresisted coverage, so I'm guaranteed to nail something, save random priority. Basically, this and Latias are who I fall back on mid-game, to open up holes for Raikou and Empoleon.

Problems: Dunno, I don't think I have any. Aside from the fact it's so frail (Dragonite maybe?) then nothing.

The Backup

raikou.png

Raikou @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spd
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Description: NO THIS IS NOT OUTCLASSED BY JOLTEON

Ahem. Raikou is a beast, so many teams are unprepared for him. Sub on something to scout, Calm Mind, sweep with STAB Thunderbolt off 115 SpA and Speed. This is one of my two late-game sweepers (with Empoleon). If it dies, I know it's torn a hole in the team or revealed something.

Moveset: Calm Mind forms the basis of this set; Sub lets me stat up quite a bit. Without it Raikou would quite simply fail on me. Thunderbolt is for STAB, and Hidden Power Ice is for Dragons that I actually outspeed.

Nature, EVs, and Item: EVs are self-explanatory. Max SpA and Speed, rest in HP; Timid to outspeed as much as possible. Leftovers is so that I can Sub a lot more than if I used Life Orb or something.

Synergy: This is quite simply the co-star of the show with Empoleon. 115 Base Speed is nothing to laugh at; it is my answer to Salamence, Latias, Gengar (who only does like 30% with Shadow Ball), Starmie, and other stuff. With Toxic Spikes support from Roserade, it is also my first answer to stall.

Problems: Not much at all.

Things I Need Help With:

- Obviously, the team in general.
- Salamence: Outrage over Dragon Claw? Or Dragonite over Salamence?

Thank you for reading my RMT. I appreciate any and all help.

Team Building

From my previous RMT:

Empoleon and Kingdra are two of my favorite sweepers - Agility and Dragon Dance makes them downright fearsome - if they can set up it's pretty much GG. I immediately chose them.

dpiconani230.gif
dpiconani395.gif

Empoleon takes Dragon attacks just fine for Kingdra - but none of Empoleon's weaks are covered. I need someone that resists them. Obviously, I should choose another Dragon. Latias resists all three and is great all around.

dpiconani230.gif
dpiconani395.gif
dpiconani380.gif

I need a reliable revenge killer. Out of the list above, Scizor naturally came to mind.

dpiconani230.gif
dpiconani395.gif
dpiconani380.gif
dpiconani212.gif

Now what? I need one more Dragon, and one more Steel. Going back to the list of Dragons, I have to choose between Salamence, Flygon, and Dragonite. Flygon I elminated because it's pretty frail and doesn't have access to Roost. Also, I don't really like it much. I needed a mixed attacker - so I chose Salamence's New MixMence set.

dpiconani230.gif
dpiconani395.gif
dpiconani380.gif
dpiconani212.gif
dpiconani373.gif

Now, none of these Pokemon work well as a lead. Obviously, I needed a good one. I had to choose between Metagross and Heatran. I chose Metagross because of it's ability to reliably set up SR, and also, double Bullet Punch is incredibly helpful.

dpiconani376.gif
dpiconani230.gif
dpiconani395.gif
dpiconani380.gif
dpiconani212.gif
dpiconani373.gif

Then I replaced Scizor with Heatran to kill Steels more easily, so Salamence and Kingdra have an easier time sweeping. Taunt also shuts down Blissey for me.

dpiconani230.gif
dpiconani395.gif
dpiconani380.gif
dpiconani485.gif
dpiconani373.gif

Alright, so I replaced a bunch of moves, changed some EVs, etc. Now for new members; I was swept by a Sub Calm Mind Raikou, so I decided to try that out. Yeah, that would mean going out of the theme, but this isn't the same team it was when I first made this. I decided Kingdra was doing the least for the team, so out it went.

Raikou worked beautifully. Then I realized that Raikou and Empoleon both failed without Toxic Spikes. I tried a Forretress lead over Metagross first, but realized that it didn't suit me. I'm an offensive player, and Forrretress just sits there and sets up. I went back to Metagross while I thought of something else, then realized that Roserade would be perfect. It allowed me to gain momentum by Sleeping something, setting up Toxic Spikes, and denting something with Leaf Storm, and this is how the team has remained, member-wise.

Just to answer your question, I suggest Draco Meteor. They'll probably switch to a counter once you attack and kill with Draco Meteor.

Hi there,

Looking at your team strategy, it seems "muddy." You pack some incredibly deadly pokemon, but no Stealth Rock or anything for them to take advantage of. You pack Toxic Spikes to help Empoleon and Raikou, but your other Pokemon do not seem to need Toxic Spikes to be effective. Therefore, I think we need to "streamline" the team a little bit, and focus on one side of your double sided team. I think Empoleon sweep is where we should be looking.

Roserade - The lead you have picked supports Empoleon very well, so I suggest you keep it. The EV spread however should be 80 HP/176 Sp. Attack/252 Speed. This allows you to avoid being 2HKO'd by lead Metagross Bullet Punch, giving you a security measure if you miss with Sleep Powder.

Empoleon - The one we are centered around, so of course keep it.

Latias - For further support, I suggest Vaporeon. Latias, Salamence, and Raikou were the pokemon conflicting with the other three, so to streamline your team I think a Vaporeon could be a big help. Wish support helps your bulky team stay in decent health as most lack recovery. This is also a very good Gyarados counter, who you were a little weak to before. Vaporeon can easily outstall many Bulky Waters with Toxic Spikes down, aiding your Empoleon sweep. Having a solid counter to fire types and Infernape is just what Latias did, but Vaporeon supports the team better, which is why I think it is a better fit. Here is the set:

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Bold
244 HP/252 Def/12 Speed

Wish
Protect
Hp Electric
Surf

The EVs give you great bulk while allowing you to outspeed the standard CB Scizor.

Salamence- Another offensive pokemon that isnt supporting Empoleon well. Your core will win you lots of games, but keeping threats in check is also a major goal. For that reason, I suggest CB Scizor here. Scizor, together with Heatran, checks the vast majority of the metagame threats your other Pokemon cannot deal with. Its powerful U Turn will rack up free damage and weaken cores for either Heatran or Empoleon to break through. Finally, its powerful Pursuit will help against threats like Latias. Here is the set:

Scizor @ Choice Band
Adamant
Technician
248 HP/252 Attack/8 Speed

Bullet Punch
U Turn
Pursuit
SuperPower

Raikou - ok, i like the electric type. However, your team is so reliant on entry hazards to gain a sweep that Rotom i feel is the better fit. It also helps because your former team is straight 6-0'd by an Agility Metagrosss, something Rotom walls easily. Rotom's Will o Wisps will help wear down the Pokemon immune to your Toxic Spikes, and with RestTalk Rotom can absorb status for your team. This is another fantastic staller with Toxic Spikes up, much like Vaporeon. And, of course, Rotom blocks spin. Here is the set:

Rotom-A @ Leftovers
Bold
252 HP/200 Def/56 Sp Def

Rest
Sleep Talk
Thunderbolt
Will o Wisp

With these Evs, Rotom is terribly hard to kill, even able to stop special threats like Zapdos with a little Sp. Defense investment.

The way you should be thinking as you play is to get down your entry hazards early, then stall out any Empoleon counters. Vaporeon helps keep your team healthy, especially Heatran and Scizor who will be out much of the mid game forcing switches and stopping problematic threats. Once the Empoleon counters are down, Empoleon can go ahead and set up for the final endgame sweep.

Thats all I have, good luck with your team.
