Good morning everyone,
1v1 has a problem. A big problem. A serious problem. And I can illustrate it pretty easily.
Fire beats grass. Grass beats water. Water beats fire. Right? That’s what Professor Oak taught me. That’s like one of the first things that I learned about pokemon.
Then why can Volcarona beat Primarina?
Why can Roaring Moon beat Alolan Ninetales?
Why can Pecharunt beat Donphan?
It’s not right. The type chart is a lie, and it’s completely breaking down 1v1. When I load a game of 1v1, I want to be playing a picking game. That’s where I and I know all of you truly derive joy from. Not in teambuilding. Not in set building. Not in any of that. I know that when we’re all faced with a situation where A beats B beats C beats A is when we’re all truly happy with 1v1.
To that end, I’ve asked Senior Staff for some help. For a custom rule that can help bring 1v1 back in line with this true vision. This pure vision.
Starting today, 1v1 is embracing its pure Rock-Paper-Scissors nature. If you nickname your pokemon “Rock” “Paper” or “Scissors” it will deal 1.5x damage to any pokemon nicknamed “Scissors” “Rock” or “Paper” (respectively of course)
