Welcome to the first edition of the ZU Open! ZU, or Zero Used, is the newest official Other Meta and is the unofficial tier below PU. The idea of a new Smogon tier has been entertained since XY, when it was still named FU, and this tier is a continuation of the same format. Following standard tiering, ZU is a competitive equivalent to the tiers above it. And now for the rules:

Tournament Specific Rules:
  • The ZU Open is Single Elimination.
  • Players will play a best of three series of USUM ZU each round. (Matches will be played in the PU format)
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown either the main server or through Smogtours.
  • To encourage the development of the metagame, all replays must be posted. Privately PMing replays is not sufficient.
  • If a certain Pokemon is banned after a round is posted, it will remain unbanned for the remainder of the round. Vice versa, if a Pokemon drops after a round is posted, that Pokemon cannot be used until the following round.
  • Every round, I may choose several games as the Highlight Matches.
  • The winner of this tournament will have their name featured in the ZU Room Banner on Pokemon Showdown

Standard Clauses:
  • Sleep Clause Mod: Limit one foe put to sleep
  • Species Clause: Limit one of each Pokemon
  • OHKO Clause: OHKO moves are banned
  • Moody Clause: Moody is banned
  • Evasion Moves Clause: Evasion Moves are banned
  • Endless Battle Clause: Forcing endless battles is banned
  • HP Percentage Mod: HP is shown in percentages

Toy Time King has been granted activity and may now start scheduling with Magellan

In regards to a mistake made while coin flipping during Round 1 Haund is actually taking activity over Jase Duken. Tagging Cynde as well about new matchup. Haund vs Cynde will have an extension into Monday if they need it. I apologize.
