Azumarill @ Normalium Z
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Knock Off

Offensively, Azumarill threatens the OHKO against both Keldeo and Weavile with Play Rough.

Defensively, its Water/Fairy typing allows it to switch in once/twice against both mons. Z-Belly Drum healing it back up is a nifty tech too, allowing Azumarill to use Keldeo and Weavile as set up fodder even upon switching in, if appropriate. Does fear scald burning, though.

Highlights

Threat of the Round:

: Tapu Fini is indeed an incredible threat to the given core, I'd recommend everyone to read Diophantine's amazing post, because it went very in depth.

Additional Notes:

: Taunt on Keldeo turns it into setup bait, but it's fine against Substitute variants.
: Clefable usually just gets its item removed by Knock Off and will be forced out by another teammate, making it very shaky.
: Toxapex is setup bait for Taunt variants and can still be beaten by Substitute variants, because of this, it will not be archived.
: It can force out Keldeo if it's not behind a Substitute, but is OHKOed if Keldeo is.

Round 46 Core: Garchomp + Ash-Greninja

Garchomp @ Rockium Z
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
- Stealth Rock

Greninja-Ash @ Choice Specs
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Water Shuriken
- Spikes

  • Rockium Z Garchomp is capable of overwhelming a majority of Ash-Greninja checks, such as Tapu Bulu, Tangrowth, and Amoonguss.
  • Try to post only OU viable Pokémon and don't post sets specifically for this core, additionally your threat should not be complete deadweight against teams that do not feature the core of Garchomp + Ash-Greninja. Everyone have a good day!

first time posting here leggo

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 24 Def / 232 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Sassy Nature
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball

Pretty much the main set featured on Ferrothorn's analysis. It can obviously take care of Ash Greninja's Water-type moves easily, and its EV spread allows it take its Dark Pulse easier and force it out.
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 232+ SpD Ferrothorn: 100-118 (28.4 - 33.5%) -- 94.9% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Water Shuriken (20 BP) (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 232+ SpD Ferrothorn: 54-66 (15.3 - 18.7%) -- possible 8HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 232+ SpD Ferrothorn: 145-172 (41.1 - 48.8%) -- 76.4% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery and Leech Seed recovery
Handling Garchomp is a bit trickier, but it can be managed. It can take a Continental Crush easily even after one Swords Dance, but Earthquake will manage to do a lot of damage to Ferrothorn, 2HKOing it at +2. However, if Ferrothorn manages to come in on the predicted Z-Move, it helps to relieve a lot of pressure off your team. Still though, it's recommended to have something else for Garchomp, whether it be offensive like Weavile or your own Greninja or defensive like Celesteela or Landorus-T, where the latter ones will benefit a lot after Garchomp uses its Z-Move on Ferrothorn.
+2 252 Atk Garchomp Continental Crush (180 BP) vs. 252 HP / 24 Def Ferrothorn: 152-179 (43.1 - 50.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Garchomp Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 24 Def Ferrothorn: 85-100 (24.1 - 28.4%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 24 Def Ferrothorn: 255-300 (72.4 - 85.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 24 Def Ferrothorn: 127-151 (36 - 42.8%) -- 94.9% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
Tips and Stuff:
If Ash Greninja comes in, especially when your expecting one of its Water-type moves, Ferrothorn can come in easily, force it out, and set up Leech Seed on whatever comes in. Though, try hard as possible to get hazards off the field, as Ferrothorn would slowly lose its ability to wall effectively. Ferrothorn can eat up Garchomp's Z-Move, but it has to be careful if it sets up as Earthquake will do a lot of damage, so much that Ash Greninja could just KO it with Dark Pulse back. Otherwise, Ferrothorn can take on all of the core's moves except for Garchomp's Earthquake, which can be assisted by other Pokemon like Landorus-T and such, most of which appreciating Ferrothorn's ability to soak up Continental Crush.

Tapu Lele @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Hidden Power Fire
- Thunderbolt

Lele outspeeds both members of the core and OHKOs both with Moonblast. As an added bonus, Greninja's Water Shuriken is negated by Psychic Terrain.

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Wish
- Protect
- Heal Bell

While a shaky check to a transformed Ashninja, especially if hazards are up, Unaware Clefable can scout it with Protect or hope for a Hydro Pump miss, while always OHKOing it back after rocks or Spikes and having a meaningful chance to do so without it. As you can probably imagine, it laughs at many setup mons, Garchomp included; while it can't OHKO the dragon, it will always take 2 hits from it.

252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 144-171 (36.5 - 43.4%) -- 99.1% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Garchomp Continental Crush (180 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 172-203 (43.6 - 51.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Garchomp: 224-266 (62.7 - 74.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Clefable: 249-294 (63.1 - 74.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Clefable: 331-390 (84 - 98.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Greninja-Ash: 258-306 (90.5 - 107.3%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO

Thanks to Scarf, Greninja outpaces both and OHKOes Garchomp and slightly chipped Ash-Greninja with Ice Beam and U-turn respectively.

Keldeo can comfortably revenge both Chomp and Gren with this set. Specs is able to OHKO both with no issue upon proper prediction, Keldeo can switch into Continental Crush due to resisting Rock causing Chomp to waste it's Z Move. Gren is unable to KO Keldeo with any of its moves forcing it to switch out or stay in to be KO'd. Be aware that Keldeo cannot switchin to gren due to Hydro Pump being a 2HKO.

Softy

Banned deucer.
Offensive Magearna
magearna.gif

Magearna @ Fairium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shift Gear
- Calm Mind / Thunderbolt
- Fleur Cannon
- Focus Blast

While offensive Magearna cannot take an Earthquake from Garchomp or a Hydro Pump from Ash-Greninja, it can threaten both with Fleur Cannon or Thunderbolt. If it finds an opening to set up a Shift Gear, both Garchomp and Ash-Greninja are unable to outspeed Magearna while Magearna can KO them with Fleur Cannon.

(Factoring out criticals) If you decide to set up on Greninja, make sure you have over 80% of health.
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Magearna: 204-240 (67.7 - 79.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

However, you can be taken out by Water Shuriken easily.
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja Water Shuriken (20 BP) (2 hits) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Magearna: 74-90 (24.5 - 29.9%) -- approx. 100% chance to 4HKO

It should be mentioned that Magearna can KO Ash-Greninja / Greninja even at -1 or -2.
-1 252 SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Greninja-Ash: 374-444 (131.2 - 155.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
-2 252 SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Greninja-Ash: 282-332 (98.9 - 116.4%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO

However, if you are at -2, you will have to use your Z-Move, Twinkle Tackle, to knock Garchomp out (from maximum health); at -1, you will have to risk the 43.8% to OHKO.

I genuinely think this is a horrible check, given how this two can easily surprise and kill it, but I have to do it, if no one else. Reserving Tapu Bulu.

Tapu Bulu @ Leftovers
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 212 Def / 44 SpD
Careful Nature
- Bulk Up
- Protect / Synthesis
- Horn Leech
- Superpower
I understand that while Rockium Z Garchomp is designed to help against this threat to Greninja, this Greninja, which is the most common set you'll see around, typically is walled when against Bulu, meaning you can switch it in on Greninja quite easily and set up Bulk Up, meaning a Garchomp switching in also struggles to get past your increased physical bulk. This set also works against Garchomp directly assuming he doesn't Swords Dance on the switch and directly go for the Z-Move. If he does, protect or switch back out. On the off chance Greninja does run Ice Beam or Gunk Shot however, Protect allows for mind games, as well as the ability to get some health back.
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 44+ SpD Tapu Bulu: 138-162 (40.2 - 47.2%) -- 95.9% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery
0 Atk Tapu Bulu Horn Leech vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Greninja-Ash in Grassy Terrain: 422-498 (148 - 174.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 252 Atk Garchomp Continental Crush (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 212 Def Tapu Bulu: 290-342 (84.5 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery [This means if you're at full, the most deadliest hit can't actually knock you out, meaning you can Bulk Up or Horn Leech for health]
Edit: Updated Spread to better check the two.

The Walls are Crumbling

Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 28 Def / 228 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Sludge Bomb

While can be overwhelmed by spikes from Ash Gren, Tangrowth can handle both adequately and scare them out while taking most hits well enough then regenning them. Garchomp's +2 regular stone edge only 2HKOs 5% of the time and +2 z edge doesn't kill without rocks while HP Ice 2HKOs Garchomp and gets it in range of priority. Ash Greninja's pump is resisted of course while Tang takes 2 dark pulses and leaves it below 20% HP with giga drain.

252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 228+ SpD Assault Vest Tangrowth: 165-195 (40.8 - 48.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

0 SpA Tangrowth Giga Drain vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Greninja-Ash: 234-276 (82.1 - 96.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+2 252 Atk Garchomp Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 28 Def Tangrowth: 175-207 (43.3 - 51.2%) -- 5.9% chance to 2HKO

+2 252 Atk Garchomp Continental Crush (180 BP) vs. 252 HP / 28 Def Tangrowth: 316-372 (78.2 - 92%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

0 SpA Tangrowth Hidden Power Ice vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp: 216-256 (60.3 - 71.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

reserving Hydeigon

The first thing to do to check this core is to stop the evolution of Greninja. That's why I assume that Greninja is unevolved.

Hydreigon @ Darkinium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 244 SpA / 32 SpD / 232 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- Defog
- Roost

252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 32 SpD Hydreigon: 120-142 (36.9 - 43.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja-Ash Dark Pulse vs. 0 HP / 32 SpD Hydreigon: 88-104 (27 - 32%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252 Atk Garchomp Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 119-141 (36.6 - 43.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

244 SpA Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Greninja-Ash: 271-321 (95 - 112.6%) -- 75% chance to OHKO
244 SpA Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp: 470-554 (131.2 - 154.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

This is a core of hazard setters and Hydreigon is a Defogger.
Moreover, he counters Greninja and can OHKO him.
He checks Garchomp but needs to take attention of Z-Stone Edge at +2.

Highlights

Threat of the Round:

: Outspeeds both Garchomp and Ash-Greninja and can easily OHKO both.

Additional Notes:

: While Ferrothorn beats Garchomp 1v1, Garchomp will be able to weaken it into Greninja's Dark Pulse range, meaning that this core will still do its job.
: Like you said, Unaware Clefable is very shaky against Ash-Greninja.
: Choice Scarf is unviable.
: Magearna is pretty shaky, because it struggles to find switch-in opportunities, but if it gets in safely, it will be able to setup a Shift Gear claim Garchomp or Ash-Greninja. Shuca Berry would have a much easier time doing this.
: "Rockium Z Garchomp is capable of overwhelming a majority of Ash-Greninja checks, such as Tapu Bulu, Tangrowth, and Amoonguss"
:"Rockium Z Garchomp is capable of overwhelming a majority of Ash-Greninja checks, such as Tapu Bulu, Tangrowth, and Amoonguss."
: Why is it walled by Fairy-types? While it can take on the given core, the given moveset is simply unviable.

Round 47 Core: Kyurem + Toxapex

Kyurem @ Metronome
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 56 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
- Roost

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Haze / Toxic
- Recover
- Toxic Spikes

  • I'd be saying basically the same, so I'll simply quote Mellow's post.
Kyurem's definitely proven that it's a force to be reckoned with, so I think a core featuring it should definitely be showcased. Kyurem loves Toxic Spikes support to wear down stuff like Mega Tyranitar, Gastrodon, and (Mega) Slowbro faster. Kyurem can also have some issues with Steel-types like Celesteela, Jirachi, and especially Mega Scizor, and Toxapex walls all three with ease. Bulky Volcarona's a bit of a roadblock for Kyurem too since it can boost it's SpDef with Quiver Dance, heal off any damage with Roost, and bypasses Substitute with Bug Buzz. Toxapex's utility is twofold here, punishing Volcarona with Toxic Spikes and being able to wall it quite comfortably, having an even easier time if opting to run Toxic over Haze. Toxapex also absorbs opposing Toxic Spikes which is pretty important considering how weak Kyurem is to them.
  • Try to post only OU viable Pokémon and don't post sets specifically for this core, additionally your threat should not be complete deadweight against teams that do not feature the core of Kyurem + Toxapex. Everyone have a good day!

Reserving Mega-Medicham

Medicham-Mega @ Medichamite
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Zen Headbutt
- Ice Punch
- Fake Out / Power-Up Punch
Honestly, this poor thing can't switch in to either, given Toxapex can just scald it while Kyurem is just gonna blast it hard. However, pivot to this pokemon, and something's gonna eat a powerful hit to their face. Medicham's dual super effective STAB hits both Kyurem and Toxapex hard. A plus is that because of Pure Power, no one wants to switch in, even Landorus-Thedian doesn't like a -1 Ice Punch, so this Pokemon can always act as pressure against other teams.

This Pokemon needs a little prediction to pull off, as a potential Baneful Bunker from Toxapex or a few clever switches could mean goodbye to your Medicham, so play smart and you'll be fine
Calculator is on Chinese New Year Break, I'll get it to work, don't worry

Reserving Tapu Fini

2788-Shiny-Tapu-Fini.png

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Def / 76 SpA / 20 SpD / 148 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nature's Madness
- Moonblast
- Whirlpool
- Taunt

Tapu Fini is an excellent check to both Toxapex and Kyurem as it resists Kyurem's stabs as well as neutralizes Toxapex completely.
Tapu Fini is able to taunt Kyurem to prevent it from roosting or setting up a Substitute and can hit it for super effective damage with Moonblast and easily 2hkoing it in the process.
Tapu Fini also neutralizes Toxapex completely with Misty Terrain as it can't be statused via a Scald burn or Toxic. Taunt shuts down Toxapex and prevents it from recovering or setting up Toxic Spikes.
Most Importantly Tapu Fini traps both the former and the latter with Whirlpool which prevents them from switching out and henceforth can easily remove them with the combination of Nature's Madness, Moonblast and Taunt.
Tapu Fini also acts as an extremely good teammate as it prevents its allies from being statused as well.

Calcs:
Kyurems dmg output after using Ice Beam / Earth Power 3x
200 SpA Metronome Kyurem Ice Beam vs. 248 HP / 20+ SpD Tapu Fini: 67-79 (19.5 - 23%) -- not a KO
200 SpA Metronome Kyurem Earth Power vs. 248 HP / 20+ SpD Tapu Fini: 90-107 (26.2 - 31.1%) -- not a KO
76 SpA Tapu Fini Moonblast vs. 56 HP / 0 SpD Kyurem: 234-276 (57.7 - 68.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Mega Bro Calm Minds up on both Kyurem and Toxapex pretty easily. Mega Bro w/ Psyshock and 44 Speed EVs lets it smack Pex before it can go for Haze. If it's a Toxic variant, don't let Bro get statused because it will then lose to Kyurem spamming SubRoost. Kyurem is set-up fodder as long as you don't let it stack too many Earth Power Metronome boosts.

Damn frog can do anything, huh?
Greninja can OHKO Toxapex after Stealth Rock or one layer of Spikes and has a 75% to OHKO without such. Getting Toxapex in isn't that challenging, as it's a common switch-in to wall Ash Greninja and Protean Greninja, so you can catch it with Z-Dig for the element of surprise.
252 Atk Protean Greninja Tectonic Rage (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Toxapex: 290-344 (95.3 - 113.1%) -- 75% chance to OHKO after Black Sludge recovery
252 Atk Protean Greninja Tectonic Rage (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Toxapex: 290-344 (95.3 - 113.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after 1 layer of Spikes and Black Sludge recovery
Z-Dig Greninja can also handle Kyurem fairly well. It can switch in on a predicted Substitute and Low Kick to pressure it out, as it will definitely KO after breaking its Substitute. Spikes set up beforehand also help to pressure Kyurem. Greninja actually can live Metronome Ice Beam up to 5 consecutive uses and Earth Power up to 4.
252 Atk Protean Greninja Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 56 HP / 0 Def Kyurem: 344-408 (84.9 - 100.7%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

200 SpA Kyurem Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Greninja: 125-148 (43.8 - 51.9%) -- 14.1% chance to 2HKO
200 SpA Metronome Kyurem Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Greninja: 223-266 (78.2 - 93.3%) -- not a KO (after 5 uses)

Tips and Such:
This set is revolved around surprising your opponent. Revealing only Spikes can fake out another Protean set, which then the opponent may be inclined to switch into Toxapex, where you then can hit it with Z-Dig. Playing against Kyurem is a bit trickier. It's very risky to just hard switch in to Kyurem with Greninja, so a slow pivot can be useful when it sets up Substitute. You can then pressure it with Low Kick, though be careful of the Metronome stacking moves. Don't reveal your set until the opportunity to damage either these Pokemon (or others), otherwise it defeats the purpose and the opponent can play around it. However, Z-Dig is still an option to surprise after showing Low Kick.

Other Options:
To fit both Low Kick and Dig on this set, you'll unfortunately need to sacrifice either Ice Beam, Gunk Shot, or Spikes. Here I chose to get rid of Ice Beam as Gunk Shot helps Greninja against Grass-types like Tapu Bulu, and Spikes helps for chip damage, especially since that chip damages helps to KO both Toxapex and Kyurem. It also always Greninja to run a nature that doesn't hinder one of its defenses. You can replace Gunk Shot with Ice Beam since it still hits Grass-type decently, but you'll lose out on a lot of damage, though it's useful after using Z-Dig so Greninja's moveset is more reliant as Gunk Shot has shaky accuracy, Dig is nearly useless after using its Z-Move, and Low Kick is also dependent on the target's weight. Gunk Shot is probably the most likely move to be replace by Ice Beam due its accuracy if one desires.

Alakazam @ Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Recover
- Calm Mind

Reliably switches in on Toxapex (especially if not Mega'd yet since you're not affected by residual damage from Scald burn / Toxic) and forces it out, can take an Ice Beam from Kyurem, and forces it out with a Focus Blast, meaning it is free to Recover. Calm Mind's just there as an extra fuck you since Pex is setup fodder, and Kyurem can't 2HKO if you're at +1.

LO Dragon Claw Kyurem-Black

Kyurem-Black @ Life Orb
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 92 Atk / 164 SpA / 252 Spe
Rash Nature
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Bolt
- Dragon Claw
- Roost

While Kyreum-Black is unable to switch in to either of these 'mons, it can destroy this core if it can get safely on the field. Kyurem (regular) is unable to OHKO its brother with any of its attacks, and is OHKOed by Dragon Claw.Pex is 2HKOed with Fusion Bolt, which becomes a OHKO if Electric Terrain is up. However, Kyurem needs to be wary of getting burned by Scald (since Fusion Bolt will be a 3HKO if KB gets burned) or being poisoned by Toxic. Because of these factors, Tapu Koko is recommended as a teammate.
