Victini @ Choice Band
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- U-turn
- Brick Break
Victini can switch into Tapu Lele and can OHKO with V-Create. Although Victini cannot switch into Kartana because of Knock Off, it can come in on Leaf Blade, Sacred Sword, and Defog and OHKO Kartana.

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 8 HP / 4 Def / 244 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]

You're faster than Lele, you can take a hit from it if necessary and can OHKO it with Flash Cannon after some chip. For Kartana, you can trap them and OHKO them with HP Fire in a number of ways. You can: sack something to bring in Magnezone as long as they're not locked into Sacred Sword, you can try hard switch in predicting them to not click Sacred Sword (risky) or you can tank a Sacred Sword from full with this spread.

252+ SpA Tapu Lele Shattered Psyche (160 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Magnezone in Psychic Terrain: 235-277 (83.3 - 98.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Tapu Lele Hidden Power Fire vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Magnezone: 158-186 (56 - 65.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
244 SpA Magnezone Flash Cannon vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tapu Lele: 230-272 (81.8 - 96.7%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

252 Atk Kartana Sacred Sword vs. 8 HP / 4 Def Magnezone: 224-264 (79.1 - 93.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
244 SpA Magnezone Hidden Power Fire vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Kartana: 628-740 (241.5 - 284.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Magearna @ Assault Vest
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 216 SpD / 40 Spe
Sassy Nature
- Fleur Cannon
- Volt Switch
- Iron Head
- Hidden Power [Fire]

magearna can check the two pokemon in a solid way and can give ohko in the kartana and give 2hKO in the lele thing she can not and kartana.

252 SpA Tapu Lele Psyshock vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Magearna in Psychic Terrain: 87-103 (23.9 - 28.3%) -- 96.5% chance to 4HKO
0 Atk Magearna Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Lele: 210-248 (74.7 - 88.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Kartana Smart Strike vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Magearna: 130-154 (35.8 - 42.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

0 SpA Magearna Hidden Power Fire vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Kartana: 524-620 (201.5 - 238.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Kartana @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Sacred Sword
- Smart Strike

Kartana outpaces Tapu Lele and OHKOs it with Smart Strike. Kartana also survives Sacred Sword from Kartana after rocks and OHKOs it with All-Out Pummeling. Kartana can't freely switch into both mons, though.
252 Atk Kartana Sacred Sword vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Kartana: 200-236 (76.9 - 90.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 Atk Kartana All-Out Pummeling (175 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Kartana: 388-458 (149.2 - 176.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Kartana Smart Strike vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tapu Lele: 372-438 (132.3 - 155.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Hawlucha @ Electric Seed / Psychic seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 36 SpD / 124 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics
- Swords Dance
- High Jump Kick
- Roost

While this mon isn't exactly what it used to be due to people being way overprepared for it, Hawlucha is still a huge threat to offensive teams like this one given its absurd speed and STAB coverage. It also helps that it can use Kartana as setup fodder, and subsequently OHKO both lele and kartana with +2 acrobatics, without even risking a high jump miss.

252 Atk Kartana Smart Strike vs. +1 96 HP / 0 Def Hawlucha: 126-148 (39.2 - 46.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252+ Atk Hawlucha Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Lele: 198-234 (70.4 - 83.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252+ Atk Hawlucha Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Kartana: 246-291 (94.6 - 111.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Hawlucha High Jump Kick vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Kartana: 290-344 (111.5 - 132.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Infernape @ Firium Z
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Close Combat
- Swords Dance
- Gunk Shot / Earthquake

Infernape is not a switch for either of the two Pokémon, however, it's a great offensive check, outspeeds Tapu Lele, can take one hit by Kartana, and also OHKOes both.

252 Atk Infernape Close Combat vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Kartana: 266-314 (102.3 - 120.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Infernape Gunk Shot vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Lele: 284-336 (101 - 119.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Infernape Inferno Overdrive (190 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Lele: 337-397 (119.9 - 141.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Kartana Sacred Sword vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Infernape: 166-196 (56.6 - 66.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Muk-Alola @ Assault Vest
Ability: Poison Touch
EVs: 248 HP / 136 Atk / 92 SpD / 28 Def / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Pursuit
- Poison Jab
- Fire Blast / Fire Punch

Muk is what Lele would see in her dreams if Freddy Krueger was a Pokemon, and with a Fire-type move taking the fourth slot, Scarf Kart won't be helping her too much. Of course, Muk doesn't want to switch into Kart locked into anything other than Leaf Blade, but hey, that's what VoltTurn support is for (which a trapper like Muk should have anyway).

252+ SpA Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. 248 HP / 92 SpD Assault Vest Muk-Alola: 105-124 (25.4 - 30%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
+1 252+ SpA Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. 248 HP / 92 SpD Assault Vest Muk-Alola: 156-184 (37.7 - 44.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
136+ Atk Muk-Alola Poison Jab vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tapu Lele: 284-336 (101 - 119.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
136+ Atk Muk-Alola Pursuit (80 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tapu Lele: 142-168 (50.5 - 59.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Kartana Smart Strike vs. 248 HP / 28 Def Muk-Alola: 180-213 (43.5 - 51.5%) -- 8.2% chance to 2HKO
0- SpA Muk-Alola Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kartana: 480-568 (185.3 - 219.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
136+ Atk Muk-Alola Fire Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kartana: 224-264 (86.4 - 101.9%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO
136+ Atk Muk-Alola Pursuit (80 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kartana: 90-106 (34.7 - 40.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Mawile-Mega @ Mawilite
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Crunch
- Iron Head
- Fire Fang

Mega Mawile can wall both Tapu Lele and Kartana due to it's great defensive stats, and having a good amount of resistances. Tapu Lele has to use a +1 Calm Mind in order to faint Mega Mawile with Shattered Psyche, but that won't matter since in can easily OHKO it with Iron Head without having to use a SD, Kartana on the other hand can't 2HKO Mega Mawile due to being choiced locked and not having a boosting move, and Mega Mawile, again like Tapu Lele, can OHKO Kartana without having to use SD by using Fire Fang, if you guys want an alternative option, then you can always use an SD and then use Crunch to OHKO both Tapu Lele and Kartana.

252+ Atk Huge Power Mawile-Mega Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tapu Lele: 624-734 (222 - 261.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Huge Power Mawile-Mega Fire Fang vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kartana: 424-500 (163.7 - 193%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Huge Power Mawile-Mega Crunch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tapu Lele: 415-489 (147.6 - 174%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Huge Power Mawile-Mega Crunch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kartana: 260-306 (100.3 - 118.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Tapu Lele Hidden Power Fire vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Mawile-Mega: 150-178 (49.5 - 58.7%) -- 98.8% chance to 2HKO
252+ SpA Tapu Lele Shattered Psyche (160 BP) vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Mawile-Mega in Psychic Terrain: 223-263 (73.5 - 86.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Kartana Sacred Sword vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Mawile-Mega: 104-123 (34.3 - 40.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Kartana Smart Strike vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Mawile-Mega: 121-144 (39.9 - 47.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Highlights

Threat of the Week: Celesteela

: I just like this submission because it's solid in the meta right now with all the Tornadus, M-Latios, and M-Zam going around and doing it big. Jordy

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

: Just a quick note, I'm archiving this, but post actually viable movesets, SD isn't really supposed to run Fire Fang, and Crunch is just an unviable move on M-Maw. ragmatho

Not Archived

: I don't really like this submission, I understand the whole idea of it surviving a Sacred Sword from the opposing Kart, but it's not hard to chip Kartana into range of that, the other submissions like the Volc and Lucha are okay because while both can't set-up on Lele, they can atleast set-up on Kart freely, while both can outspeed Lele and take it out with chip anyways.

: Not viable in the OU Tier as of right now. Yujiii

Week 22 Core: Greninja + Tapu Bulu

Greninja (M) @ Waterium Z
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Gunk Shot
- Spikes

Tapu Bulu @ Leftovers
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 224 HP / 216 SpD / 68 Spe
Careful Nature
- Swords Dance
- Horn Leech
- Superpower
- Synthesis

  • Protean Greninja has recently been really annoying a lot of fat Balances that either lack switch-ins, lack a form of speed control to revenge kill it, or in some cases in both depending on the moveset and possible Z-move, such as Z-Hydro Pump, Z-Low Kick, or even Z-Dig. Speaking of the moveset, the one we're going to use for the week is the Z-Hydro Pump one, with Spikes in the last slot to wear down the few switch-ins it does have. Here, I paired it with SD Tapu Bulu, who enjoys it when its answers such as Tornadus, Heatran, and Sludge Bomb Tangrowth get either forced out or lured. Now c'mon, get to core breaking! Also make sure to get the submissions in before the deadline of 7 days, I hope I don't have to keep reminding you all of that.
  • Try to post only OU viable Pokémon and don't post sets specifically for this core, additionally your threat should not be complete deadweight against teams that do not feature the core of Greninja + Tapu Bulu. Everyone have a good day!
  • PM me a few cores if you guys have any good ideas I could use!

The song of the week is a really lit track from "The Carters" (Beyonce and Jay-Z)
"APESHIT"

Kartana @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Sacred Sword
- Smart Strike
- Knock Off

Kartana is a massive threat to this core and can be very hard to play around thanks to its blistering speed and ability to threaten both base Greninja and Tapu Bulu with its respective STAB moves. It's very hard for the type of teams that utilize this core to pivot around Kartana effectively, especially considering most do run Smart Strike to deal with Tornadus-T nowadays.

Tapu Koko @ Leftovers
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Wild Charge
- Taunt
- Roost

Tapu Koko can threat those 2 if used the right way, The 2 damaging moves Wild Charge and Brave Bird can be used to OHKO and 2HKO Greninja and Tapu Bulu respectively, since both of those moves have recoil damage, it has Roost and Leftovers to help it gain health back from those moves, Taunt is used for Tapu Bulu only since it has Swords Dance and Synthesis which help Bulu, and since Tapu Koko is faster then both Greninja and Tapu Bulu, it can easily pull of sweep on this core.

252 Atk Tapu Koko Wild Charge vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Greninja in Electric Terrain: 626-738 (219.6 - 258.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Tapu Koko Brave Bird vs. 224 HP / 0 Def Tapu Bulu: 214-252 (63.5 - 74.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery
0 Atk Tapu Bulu Horn Leech vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tapu Koko in Grassy Terrain: 175-207 (62.2 - 73.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery

Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Low Kick
- U-turn

- Ice Beam
- Gunk Shot

252 Atk Protean Greninja U-turn vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Greninja: 288-338 (101 - 118.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Protean Greninja Low Kick (60 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Greninja: 246-290 (86.3 - 101.7%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Protean Greninja Gunk Shot vs. 224 HP / 0 Def Tapu Bulu: 564-664 (167.3 - 197%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Outspeeds both with Choice Scarf and can threaten that core with super effective coverage.

Amoonguss @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 160 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Stomping Tantrum
- Hidden Power Fire

Amoonguss kinda just sits in front of this core; it takes 36.1% max from Gunk Shot and plays mind games with Greninja between Giga Drain (if it uses Spikes) and Stomping Tantrum (if it uses Gunk Shot), whereas Tapu Bulu just gets chunked by Sludge Bomb while doing fuck all back.

Venusaur-Mega @ Venusaurite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 248 HP / 88 Def / 156 SpD / 16 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Both Greninja and Tapu Bulu can't really touch Mega Venusaur. Greninja's Gunk Shot does ~30% max and +2 Superpower from bulu does even less. Meanwhile Mega Venusaur threatens to OHKO both of them with its STAB moves. Fire type Greninja gets 2HKOed by Sludge Bomb and Poison type Greninja is 4HKOed or 3HKOed after SR, but Mega Venusaur can just heal any damage Greninja can do with Gunk Shot.

Dragonite @ Flynium Z
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Fly
- Earthquake / Fire Punch
- Extreme Speed

Dragonite's glory days are far behind it, but this core dropping Ice Beam for Spikes gives it the setup opportunities it tends to lack. There's really not much to say here - neither 'Mon can do much to it aside from Gunk Shot poisons, especially if Multiscale is still intact, and it blows them both back after the free boost.

Aerodactyl-Mega @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Wing Attack
- Aqua Tail
- Roost

Aero outspeeds and deals with both threads with ease while being inmune to spikes. It can't switch in to Gren and it rather not switch to Bulu but along volt-turn support Aero will always kill both mons

252+ Atk Aerodactyl-Mega Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Greninja: 255-300 (89.4 - 105.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock (56% if Jolly)

252+ Atk Tough Claws Aerodactyl-Mega Aerial Ace vs. 224 HP / 0 Def Tapu Bulu: 254-302 (75.3 - 89.6%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Grassy Terrain recovery

Thundurus-T @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

- Sludge Bomb/Wave

- Hidden Power Ice
- Focus Blast

Offensive calcs:
252 SpA Thundurus-Therian Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Greninja: 422-500 (148 - 175.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Thundurus-Therian Sludge Bomb vs. 224 HP / 216+ SpD Tapu Bulu: 328-388 (97.3 - 115.1%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery
252 SpA Thundurus-Therian Sludge Wave vs. 224 HP / 216+ SpD Tapu Bulu: 344-408 (102 - 121%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Thundurus-Therian Thunderbolt vs. mono Poison-type 0 HP / 0 SpD Greninja: 211-250 (74 - 87.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Thundurus-Therian Sludge Wave vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Greninja: 149-176 (52.2 - 61.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Defensive calcs:
0 Atk Tapu Bulu Horn Leech vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Thundurus-Therian in Grassy Terrain: 102-120 (34.1 - 40.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Thundurus-Therian: 184-217 (61.5 - 72.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Greninja Hydro Vortex (185 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Thundurus-Therian: 307-363 (102.6 - 121.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Scarf Thundurus-T is perfectly viable as Scarfer thanks to its 101 base Spe tier, which allows it to outpace the other base 100 with a +1 Spe boost.
It is simple to destroy this core: enter in the battlefield (it is better through fast VolTurn support in order to avoid being weakened too much) and click the coverage move suited in that moment.

I'm back.
This post is super late, but I had to study for multiple exams and really didn't have much time to do this but here you go...

(doing this on mobile on my school bus lol)

Week 23: M-Alakazam + Magnezone

Alakazam-Mega (M) @ Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Focus Blast
- Recover
- Shadow Ball

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Basically M-Alakazam is A+ now and has actually surpassed M-Latios as an offensive Psychic-type, lol it's A+ in a gen that introduced great Psychic checks in Magearna and Celesteela and also introduced Tapu Lele which for a large majority of the generation has overshadowed it, but whatever, it's really good right now and that's why we're doing it this week. I paired it with Scarf Magnezone because fuck Celesteela. Go ahead and try to break the core, I promise the next post will be more formal.

Song of the week is Lucid Dreams by Juice WRLD, look it up it's good.
