With SPL finally at a conclusion for the Cryos, I figured it'd be a good time to do a team dump on what I used this season. Most of the credit for these teams does go to Tman tho. I'm gonna be honest, I didn't care/expect to get picked up this time around but I just signed up for the fun of it. Didn't even know the draft was going on til CrashinBoomBang PMd me the discord link mid-draft as I was waking up that Sunday. Since last SPL I got a huge promotion at work so time was a very limited resource I had when it came to preparing for SPL games. Luckily it was already set in the cryo's minds to pick up someone else who understood dubs so I wouldn't be alone with prep and everything. At first Edu was my priority pick, but after classiest grabbed him I quickly chose Tman and teal6 just waited for the best time to grab him. Now I know most people probably didn't see the value in Tman over a more dubs regular, but from what I knew of him already he has good experience with practicing with Jake and Sam and hes a very strong builder in doubles formats. Call it a gamble, but he honestly just seemed like a perfect fit to add to the SPL spotlight and help out the team.

Thanks again for trusting in me Cryos. Shame we didn't make playoffs, but its the way it goes sometimes. 5-3 obviously wasn't what I wanted out of the season but everything considered not the worst. Onto the teams

Overall wasn't too sure what to use this week, but with the Marshadow ban I knew I wanted to start with a core around Lando/Gengar/Zapdos. Tman suggested the scarf bulu and I kinda just rolled with it. Before the game the ttar slot was actually a staka in that slot, but after playing some I did a last minute switch to AV ttar which ended paying off a lot. Early game plays by milk gave me a pretty huge advantage along with the fact that he had no Intimidate to stop Bulu and ttar from spamming attacks. W

This week Tman and I built pretty well.....for everything except hard TR. Going into the week we wanted to build around MMeta/Victini/Kyurem-B, but honestly I wasn't too sure on the Kyurem set. I'm not the biggest fan of the AV set and I don't think LO Fusion Bolt is too great without Koko. So we just built the rest of the team before filling in the set. Mimilax felt solid vs Jake as long as Bronzong/Staka weren't on the opposing side of the field. I do wish I was Physical LO Lando-T in hindsight but seeing as I had no Ground-immunes, special felt like the call. LO could've KOd Staka, but I did make the change last minute to AV to try creating a better pivot slot on the team. I did like the team, but I didn't build hard enough for possible hard TR. L

This week I looked at visuals and rain felt like a pretty good pick. I tried building a different version of the team but then Tman just dropped a team skeleton of Lele/Deo/Poli/Ludi and I just went off from there. Gengar was mostly just a comfort pick and Ferro was literally just thrown on last minute by Tman. Sadly though, team preview had me kinda crying at seeing Mega Scizor/Gastro/Volcanion/Kyub and my dumbass packing rain. Early game he allowed me to chip away at the 4 of them thanks to MGar and some weird plays by Demantoid. Once everything was chipped I could just take KOs and sack mons til the game was over. W

This was a weird week in building to say the least. Tman and I ended up building a 5 mon tailroom team and somehow Pheromosa got brought up. Drill Run/Ice Beam/Low Kick coverage was actually kinda neat so I kept it on and it ended up doing well in test games. The game itself was pretty sloppy and marilli had the advantage a lot of the time but some luck multiple times helped me pull out this game. W

This was one of the weeks I took a little more freedom with building and tried to have a little more fun. Tman threw together all the fire spreads for the team though. I do regret throwing on all of the Kartana coverage, but overall I was actually pretty satisfied with how the team ended up. Some unfortunate rolls on the Zapdos and crit on Tornadus hurt my chances at winning this one, but after the breaks I got the previous week I couldn't be too upset. L

Naughty Nature

- U-turn
- Ice Beam
- Flamethrower

This was a week I was actually super busy with work things to actually prepare too much for. Tommy ended up doing all of the prep sans me changing some EV spreads and natures(hence the Figy Amoonguss). Goal of the team was pretty simple to lock in threats with Gengar and pivot around properly to create a win condition for Azumarill. A huge misstep turn 1 set me back hard with losing Koko to Scarf Hoopa followed by allowing Tyranitar to get burned on a switch in, which honestly at that point I thought the game was over. Croven makes a couple misplays which eventually brings the game down to a 50/50 which I end up getting. W

After skipping week 7 due to being busier at work, I was back in action this week. I wanted to win here pretty badly after our game in snake tour. The Mew was specifically something I wanted to bring this week after what stax had been bringing this whole SPL, but didn't actually end up doing too much aside from setting rocks. After setting up Gengar's trap turn 1 it just became a matter of how fast his Lax ended up being so I could just set the Azumarill end game. When Amoonguss was able to get the first Clear Smog off, it was pretty smooth afterwards just making sure the Lax stayed under control with Gengar pressure. W

Now I don't want to give excuses for this game, but honestly neither Tman or I really prepared for this game at all. I just loaded up a team that I thought I'd have fun with, and that led Jhon to a pretty easy victory with his prep. Excadrill+Double Scarfers+Skymin was definitely a great call vs what I'd brought these last couple weeks. There was a small chance of coming back in the end of the game when he double edge'd Kartana instead of my Lele, but without actually acting on that not much to say about what ifs. L

All replays can be found here

Everything was pretty fun this season and I'm pretty glad we have more quality players getting drafted into SPL. With everything going on IRL I was definitely on the border about signing up this year, but everything was definitely worth it this year between getting to build with Tman and finally passing blarajan in overall SPL wins putting me at 28-19 overall. Might just sit on the sidelines til another dubs player gets to passing me, who knows :blobshrug:

Also shoutouts to this log from the dubs discord pre-draft:

Anyway, see y'all around on discord if you ever wanna talk Duel Links or DR :blobnom:
