Tournament TLT IV: Round 3

lkapkd1 escapes me again. Next round i want Lkapd. Make it happen mods. Give the people what they want.
P.s U can't hide forever Lkap. Man up.
Lol who said i was trying to hide i was pushing for the match too but how about this i know yall see this ax and temp we'll both be 1-2 next week so MAKE IT HAPPEN cause a loss basically knocks one of us out would be pointless otherwise if one of us loses elsewhere

have some free time today, and kinda just lounging around, so gonna make a few predictions because why not.

imjustgray vs 70-90GXE- can anyone hope to beat GXE in this tournament? hes top 5 on the ladder in legit like every tier rn, which I think is just a bit crazy. looks almost certain like the finals should be GXE vs Luthier, with only potentially kythr or MJ challenging them.

stareal vs malmoonsault- this is one of my favorite matchups personally because when I joined the tours room at like the end of July, these guys were constantly destroying everyone and winning every tour. now i know that the tours room is not as serious as I thought when i first joined (i thought you got custom avatars from winning the official tournaments and what not, yeah i was a super noob im aware). but i thought both of these guys were ultra legends and its cool to see them facing off both being 2-0. both are great players obviously, stareal should take OU, but Mal is very well rounded, and should be favored in the majority of the other tiers, although I think Stareal has a slight advantage in overall playing ability, so that might prove to be the deciding factor. sorry Mal.

me vs Cheese- ill be the first to admit I have gotten pretty lucky so far in regards to situations with my opponents, and didn't play as well as I could have vs Trade who was not at full strength. got a pretty damn good opponent now in Cheese, should be tough and I am looking forward to a good series.

Surfy vs 79181918181XIU- I believe Surfy should have won his last series vs Mal, but was the victim of some unfortunate hax at the end of G1, as well as a bit throughout G2. I think Surfy should bounce back here with a solid win, although 79x1u or whatever his name is looked pretty decent vs Ronman, besides choking that Ubers match pretty badly.

Decem vs Tote - Decem should have won that last series vs Stareal, but choked very badly in the NU game, but that series in my opinion proved how solid of a player he is, as well as his ability to play in all kinds of tiers. Tote did not look too impressive to me last week, so I think Decem should win this easily, and I believe should end up going 3-1.

TheGreenRoman vs Ethey- I think this should be one of the best series. Might be a bold take, but I think their skill level is very similar. GreenRoman put a bit of a target on his back, referring himself as the dark horse in the tournament, which I think was a bit premature considering he did not beat a tough opponent his first round in Dragon246. Regardless he is a super nice dude, and without a doubt can be a very solid player, giving Cheese a decent series up until the LC game. Ethey, I know decently well, and he can build some fun unique sets, such as the focus punch Abra which worked very well last week in LC vs Giove. Because of his creative building, and I know he can be a very solid player too, when he wants to be, I think this should be a very close series.

KabilaPok vs FatFighter2- Kabila, I knew before this tournament was a very solid player that maybe not a lot of people were aware of, and he showed it in defeating a great opponent R1 in Arce. He looked pretty impressive in that series to me, but then did not look very good vs Axew last week with some questionable team choice, like not having any hazard removal in PU, a tier that has several very common spike setters, as well as having blissey as his primary shadow horse check, and losing his ditto on T1 for no reason. I think he should rebound from those mistakes though. Moving onto Fat, Fat is a great player as well, although he might not have showed it against gray his first round, I know he has gotten a lot better since than, as well as I know personally being a pretty damn good team builder and I think Fat should take this series, which should be pretty close.

Hoopa vs Ronman- After giving POAT a decent series, Hoopa looked pretty abysmal vs Shadow. For two weeks in a row Hoopa brought the same PU team, which consisted of several sash mons as well as sash Frosmoth which was not heavy duty boots for whatever reason. On top of that when Sandaconda was brought in vs his Boltund, he refused to switch to his Belossom, and instead constantly attacked the Sandaconda with his electric doggo, taking more damage to himself, than he was giving. He did that for two weeks in a row which was a bit questionable to me. Ronman did not look his best vs 7191922929XIU, but the only way I see Ronman losing this is if he loses to some strange focus sash sets or hypnosis. Ronman should win pretty easily if he can get stealth rocks up T1.

ESM vs Dragon246- all I can say about this series is um, I'll be looking forward to ESM's video. I am not really sure how Dragon beat halaman, I was under the impression halaman was a very solid player, so maybe he lost to some cheese or hax. Sadly there were no replays but ESM should take this pretty easily.

Lkap vs Maple (dropped out)- Would not be surprised if Lkap somehow found a way to lose this series to his opponent who dropped out. Little bit disappointing we did not get the Lkap Lugia bowl, as instead both of them got opponents who are no longer in the tournament.

Micoy vs Atiman- I think Micoy should win this pretty easily, Atiman looked alright vs Skipkan, and is a solid player overall but in his second series it looked as his effort dropped off a bit. Micoy can be very solid at some times, and I hope to see that from him this round.

Time for predictions (18/32 last round. This round I am going to get 19; ty drop outs. I once dropped out of a burping contest)

2-0:

iNoLife vs kythr: 91%, This guy has never played a game of Life in his... um... existence (gottem). Meanwhile this other guy reminds me of Slyther the Sky Dragon which we all know is the worst Egyptian God Card. Everyone knows skill at mons is inversely related to skill at yugioh multiplied by ones skill at The Price is Right and assorted board games to help with teambuilding. Thus kythr should be the superior player here bc his team will be better and he has more skill.

imjustgray vs 100%GXE: 88%, Apparently being a good player classifies a " kryptonite" playstyle. I shall run tests later. {Grey and gray are two different spellings of the same word. Gray is more common in the U.S., while grey is more common in other English-speaking countries. In proper names—like Earl Grey tea and the unit Gray, imjustgray, among others—the spelling stays the same, and they need to be memorized.}

saba1111 vs Luthier: 58%, Three fast facts... 1. Darth Saba will prep harder, 2. Luthier shares the first two letters of Luke as in Luke Skywalker, 3. luthier means: a maker of stringed instruments such as violins or guitars. None of these things matter. Luthier will win. Saba will fall. Such is the way of the universe.

Let's Rumble Shall We vs NotAnHacker: 66%, EASIEST PREDICTION OF MY LIFE. Look at NotAnHacker's intials. Let's Rumble Shall We? NAH. Boom gg ez.

Stareal vs APW001: 93% I am convinced (do not ask me why) that Mal is actually a former Mexican professional wrestler (or Luchador) named Francisco Islas Rueda or the name Super Crazy. Meanwhile, idk if star has ever even been in a wrestling ring.

MJ vs Sensei Axew: 59%, Dragons eat goats.

TeamCharm69 vs Cheese5555: 83%, This round's Cheese is... Saint Andre. Saint Andre is a triple crème cow's milk cheese produced in Coutances, in the Normandy region of northwestern France. It has a high fat (75%) content because it is further enhanced with heavy cream, making it dense, buttery and rich. The rind is covered with a velvety and powdery bloomy mold while the inside is ivory white in colour. The taste of the cheese is an intense version of the Brie, another famous French soft cheese. The flavours of the satiny, edible rind are tangy perfectly complementing the rich, slightly salty and decadent centre. Saint-André topped with Caramel Pecan, Craisin-Currant-Walnut, or Roasted Tomato Pine Nut forms an ideal course for Valentine’s Day! The full, buttery taste of Saint Andre can make a white wine taste sour, so it is best suggested with a light beer, dessert wine or a slice of pear. It could also be enjoyed with a crusty French bread or a plain cracker.

Sificon vs Gilgamesh9: 59%, Sificon is 22. Gilgamesh is also 22. The number 9 appears 6 consecutive times in the decimal places 762 through 767 of π. We add all these numbers up we are left with about 1591.14159265. This was the year François Viète published In Artem Analyticien Isagoge, introducing the new algebra with innovative use of letters as parameters in equations. Thus Gilgamesh will win.

1-1:

SiceXV vs Skipkan: 69%, We call a captain or leader "Skip" because they Kan win with a capital "K." We do not call a captain Sice because the XV win with a capital X.

EternalSnowman vs Dragon246: 61%, Dragons melt snowmen, unless it is an ice dragon. Then they make snowmen. The Ice dragon was invented by George RR Martin btw.

blinkboy vs Roxiee: 99%, I like words that end in "ee." The longest one I can find is chincherinchee. This is a white-flowered South African lily. Blinkboy will lose bc he blinked.

ZUALBR vs Failures: 0%, Mission Failed. We will get em next time.

Hys vs The Thunderbirds: 92%, The Thunderbirds are, in North American Indian mythology, a powerful spirit in the form of a bird. By its work, the earth was watered and vegetation grew. Lightning was believed to flash from its beak, and the beating of its wings was thought to represent the rolling of thunder. Hys makes a good pun with history. I like Mythology better.

Maki vs 52Gambit: 51%, I figured out his username. D52 denotes the Queen's Gambit Declined Cambridge Springs Defense opening (qgd) in chess. Thus 52 + gambit. 1 d4 d5 2 c4 e6 3 Nc3 Nf6 4 Bg5 Nbd7 5 e3 c6 6 Nf3. Honestly I prefer to play something akin to a baltic defense when facing qgd because I am bad ( I get wins by playing a nice side game and by opponents not understanding that's how you win those games.) Cambirdge Springs is much stronger but it is not without its hiccups. Firstly, you have to realize white has a very weak left side. The long plan should be take those pawns, march yours, and play a defense akin to a high level French where you need to actively move your king to prevent most kinds of attacks. I do not recommend castling here (I only watched one game btw and do not know what I am talking about). Maki just has to play this like a normal qgc and rush the right, gain some value, win. I think 52 has a better grasp on the potential endgame scenarios.

PrinceOfAllTacos vs Mr. DoTooMuch: 68% HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHa, So... this guy... Lkap.... free win... nope!... I am ded!! Um, hi poat. You aren't on the right side. Sorry I cant pick you to win.

vs Shadowmonstr7: 98%, I don't like that big heart.

realSurfyTeen vs 7u9i2: 83%, Surfy teen hangs at the beach. You know what beats the beach. Eighteen muda F-ing umbrellas.

Baloor vs Sets: 91%, He is going to Baloor you into the trap he Sets. Sometimes these things just write themselves.

(Dropped out) Trade vs TheFranklin: 0%, Kay

RaJ.Shoot vs henguinie: 54%, Guinie = Guinea. Thus Guinea Hen, which is... actually a thing!! Hmm. Has less fat than chicken and tastes like pheasant. Well I am from rural Pennsylvania and I love gamey tasting food. I also love chicken. So a gamey tasting Chicken... I would Raj.Shoot that in a blinkboy.

t0te vs Decem: 73%, Well Decem cannot lose in December. That is just too obvious. Especially against HO spam #2.

TheGreenRoman vs e~t~h~e~y: 53%, I am thouroughly enjoying your bantor on the site e~t~h~e~y. I think here you win. This is because coins sometimes land heads. Still rooting for you tho TheGreenRoman, very nice games so far.

RichardPepper vs Angels & Airwaves: 76%, I am actually a big Richard fan, but here you have to understand that salt is what kills angels not salt. Thus by choosing the wrong seasoning you lose.

KabilaPok vs FatFighter2: 87%, FatFighter reminds me of Executioner Smough from darksouls. Best boss fight of the series. Meaniwhile KabillaPok reminds me of Kaida from yugioh. Second best antagonist. Thus Fat gets the W.

0-2:

Hoopa590 vs Ronman5: 67% HOW DID YOU LOSE TO UMBRELLAS??!!

Alternatif vs get_lucki: 74% Honestly, both of these players are way too good to be out after three rounds. umm... (god there is so many matches) go lucki.

suzize vs LethalHobo723: 0%, L

Furya vs Lugia_numair: 0%, O

giove97 vs halaman95: 53% I am definitly no suprised these two are here unfortunatly. Look I love to play both of them and they are not bad mon clickers, but I feel like they have similier playstyles that tend to win tour room matches. In tours on smogon there is a certain amount of prep and subtlety to winning and I just do not see that from either one.

micoytancinco12 vs Atiman: 91% That a man. Way to win. Sorry Micoy.

2-0:

iNoLife vs kythr - been seeing kythr play since he was essentially a fetus on PS and he never ceases to amaze us staff and myself. Expecting a high level performance from both players.
imjustgray vs 100%GXE - already happened
saba1111 vs Luthier - saba is a good player and I feel this could be a close one but gonna have to go with luthier here based on how he has played throughout his tour career. Gl to both
Let's Rumble Shall We vs NotAnHacker - Rumble has peaked my interest from their past two rounds compared to hacker in terms of playing and team composition but I’m thinking this could go either way between the two.
Stareal vs APW001 - mal is a good player indeed but I see star taking this one over them, he’s a better team builder and really knows how to pressure his opponents with the way he plays. Still expecting both players to perform well.
MJ vs Sensei Axew - mj is a solid player and always shows great performance despite being away from the competitive scene this gen. Axew as well is a prominent figure in the current meta and really has the knowledge over mj when it comes to lower tiers such as ru, nu, pu, and so on. Giving the edge to Axew as I feel he is quite a phenomenal player in the current gen and understands it more than mj does, but I am expecting them to give it their all in their games.
TeamCharm69 vs Cheese5555 - TC is a very fun player to play against and his teams are as carefree as always, though I will have to give it to cheese due to the experience he has over TC overall. Cheese has always proven that he is no pushover in these kinds of tours and with one more win to make it to the next phase, I’m sure he will give it his all in this matchup. Gl both
Sificon vs Gilgamesh9 - Sificon is a underrated player in this pool and should be one to look out for in future rounds. His playstyle and team compositions are what brought him this far in this phase and I have no doubt he will bring this home.

1-1:

SiceXV vs Skipkan - gonna give this to sice as I’ve seen the way they play while with skipkan I haven’t been around to see them and their games though I’m aware that they are into lower tiers. Good matchup I’d say.
EternalSnowman vs Dragon246 - I’m aware of how ESM performs in tournaments through team tours we were in together and I’ve no doubt he will bring this home. Haven’t seen or heard of Dragon246 until now but gl to both.
Roxiee vs blinkboy - hurts to do this but gonna have to give it to blinkboy, roxiee is a great player and packs it with good teambuilds + shows an understanding of the metas he’s playing. Though I do feel blink does have the edge here in terms of playing, I’ve seen his games and he always pulls upsets in any meta he plays. Prove me wrong with this one Rox, gl to both.
ZUALBR vs Failures - not really following these two as much but giving it to failures as I have seen their games from previous rounds and they showed promise of the zualbr in terms of the way they’ve performed. Gl both
Hys vs The Thunderbirds - I’m actually interested to see how this matchup goes honestly, both play metas that aren’t main tiers afaik like hys playing nfe and natdex while thunderbirds with omms. I think this’ll go depending on how they could contradict each other in their teambuilds while it being decided with the way they perform. Both are equal in terms of playing, giving the edge to hys as I’m familiar with the way he’s been performing recently in some forum tours. Gl both
Maki vs 52Gambit - Another good matchup, both are good players and always know how to entertain those watching. I’ve been teammates with gambit for one team tour where he would make very steady + confident plays and I feel he has the edge in terms of performing well in gameplay over maki. With proper building in countering makis own build then i would give the edge to him.
PrinceOfAllTacos vs Mr. DoTooMuch - not familiar with Mr. but I’ve been following poat since the recent CPL and he’s been pulling quite a bit of upsets but tends to put himself down a bit. With a bit of motivation to get past this phase I’m sure poat could win this with ease.
PokeArt2004 vs Shadowmonstr7 - both are good players but I see shadow taking the win over pokeart here. Art has shown promise in their games from last round but if shadow has seen their gameplay im sure he won’t fall victim of the strats they’ve pulled. Looking forward to this one as well gl both.
realSurfyTeen vs 7u9i2 - Not too familiar with both actually, I’ve seen a couple of surfys matches and noticed he’s won vs prominent players or those who have more experience than them from recent rounds. Assuming he will win this and make it to the next phase.
Baloor vs Sets - old tours goon sets is my bet for this one. Baloor is a fun player while providing interesting teams to add-on to his performance while sets brings standard teams but does well overall in playing. Really tough to choose but I went with sets as he didn’t lose his touch from last gen.
(Dropped out) Trade vs TheFranklin
Raj.Shoot
vs henguinie - raj is definitely the favored one here, always plays well in any situation so I don’t doubt him taking the win for this week.
t0te vs Decem - the experience and dedication to mons brought Decem this far but I do expect t0te to give Decem a run for his money on this one.
TheGreenRoman vs e~t~h~e~y - Roman actually impressed me in our practice games, I’ve always thought he was more into past gen tiers but i was wrong. Ethey on the other hand is a solid player as well, but I’m giving it to Roman as he stays calm and collected in every game he plays thus far.
RichardPepper vs Angels & Airwaves - giving this to angels as I’m not too familiar with the two but angels did impress in their previous matches over Richard. Gl both
KabilaPok vs FatFighter2 - fighter is a good player and is quite prominent in tours room scene but KabilaPok is no joke either. Pok will definitely give fighter a very difficult time I feel. Pok’s past matches show how much experience there is between the two, looking forward to this as well.

0-2:

Hoopa590 vs Ronman5 - favoring Ronman over hoopa since I’ve heard he is pretty good based on how he plays in room tours.
Alternatif vs get_lucki - sad to see either of these two lose if one of them lose but unfortunately I’ll have to give this to Alternatif. He’s in the om scene rather than main tiers so that could be his downfall but he performs really well despite having that weakness. Lant I don’t doubt is a good player either but based on who plays better I’d give it to Alternatif especially since he it at a losing position, he’d definitely give it his all.
(Dropped out) Maple vs lkapkd1
suzize* vs LethalHobo723
Furya* vs Lugia_numair
giove97
vs halaman95 - picking giove over halaman here as I’m more used to how they perform in tours much more than halaman. Under pressure giove can be stuck at a corner which they are rn but with a better attitude and motivation to win vs halaman I’m sure they could win if performance is solid. Gl both
micoytancinco12 vs Atiman - micoy has to win this to not be out, I’m sure he will try his hardest to compose his team to his liking (probably stay away from ubers as a choice). Gl to both
Vamshi vs Pamplona (Dropped out)
