[SET COMMENTS]

Torkoal is an important member on sun teams thanks to its ability to set sun with Drought. Unlike Ninetales, Torkoal provides valuable role compression due to its access to both Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin. This allows it to both pressure traditional checks to sun teams like Gigalith and Milotic with entry hazard damage and prevent teammates like Choice Band Darmanitan from getting worn down by entry hazards. Its higher physical bulk compared to Ninetales also means that it has more opportunities to switch in and set sun against Pokemon like Cobalion. However, Torkoal's lackluster Speed means that it cannot offensively check and force out faster Pokemon like Toxtricity and Roserade unlike Ninetails. Its poor special bulk also means that Torkoal struggles to switch into Pokemon like Sylveon and Galarian Weezing, which Ninetales otherwise takes advantage of. Lava Plume's 30% burn chance allows Torkoal to punish switch-ins like Rhyperior and Gigalith, as well as deter Pokemon like Dragon Dance Necrozma from taking advantage of its passiveness. Toxic is the best option in the last slot, as it allows Torkoal to punish Gigalith, Rhyperior, as well as prevent entry hazard removers like Noivern and Rotom-W from coming in freely. Alternatively, Yawn forces switches, which is useful to rack up Stealth Rock damage, deter entry hazard removers like Noivern and Rotom-W, and create potential setup opportunities for teammates like Shiftry. However, the ability to immediately punish checks like Rhyperior, Rotom-W, and the sandstorm-setting Gigalith with Toxic is usually more valuable. Heat Rock maximizes the number of sun turns for Torkoal's teammates like Shiftry, Heliolisk, and Darmanitan to take advantage of, but Heavy-Duty Boots can be used to increase the number of times Torkoal can come in on entry hazards.

Since Torkoal fits exclusively on sun teams, Pokemon that take advantage of the sun that Torkoal brings are mandatory teammates. Shiftry is a fantastic partner that benefits from the added Speed from Chlorophyll, which prevents Pokemon like Noivern and Choice Scarf Flygon from revenge killing it while helping it clean late game. The boost given by Growth also lets Shiftry break through otherwise sturdy checks like Sylveon more reliably. Shiftry is also able to take advantage of and pressure bulky Water-types and Rock-types that check Torkoal like Milotic, Rotom-W, Rhyperior, and Gigalith with its powerful Solar Blade or Leaf Blade. Darmanitan is also a great partner that greatly benefits from both the sun powering up its already strong Flare Blitz and the entry hazard support Torkoal provides, which allows Darmanitan to break through otherwise sturdy checks like Gigalith and Rotom-W, 2HKOing both after minimal prior damage. Swords Dance Incineroar is another partner that is able to check Chandelure, which is otherwise a major problem for sun teams due to its ability to switch into Torkoal and other teammates thanks to Flash Fire. Incineroar can also surprise and KO a weakened Gigalith or Rhyperior with Close Combat, and it can break through Galarian Weezing and Sylveon more easily with a sun-boosted Flare Blitz. Heliolisk is another partner that pressures bulky Water-types like Vaporeon, if brought in safely, and greatly benefits from Solar Power's Special Attack boost and Weather Ball's Fire-type coverage, letting it break through Bronzong, Escavalier, Sylveon, and Celebi. Pokemon that can directly switch into and pressure Gigalith in particular are extremely important due to Gigalith's Sand Stream negating Torkoal's sun. Swords Dance Cobalion takes advantage of Gigalith and can switch in semi-reliably if holding a Shuca Berry or Air Balloon, while it appreciates the pressure placed on Milotic, Noivern, and other switch-ins by Torkoal and teammates like Darmanitan, helping it clean late-game.

[SET COMMENTS]

Torkoal is an important member on sun teams thanks to its ability to immediately set sun upon switch-in with Drought. Unlike Ninetails Ninetales - this is a consistent mistake, i'll highlight it each time it comes up to make things easier for you, Torkoal provides valuable role compression due to its access to both Stealth Rock and Rapid Spin, which allows it to both pressure traditional checks to sun teams like Gigalith and Milotic with hazard damage, as well as prevent teammates like Choice Band Darmanitan from getting worn down by entry hazards. it's also a lot bulkier than ninetales and as such is likely to get more opportunities to set the sun up However, Torkoal's lackluster Speed compared to Ninetails Ninetales means that Torkoal cannot offensive check and force out faster offensive Pokemon like Toxtricity, Lucario, and Roserade. i'd change the lucario mention bc torkoal is actually one of the better defensive checks to luc in the tier, being one of the few mons that can stomach a +2 hit and ohko back - something like rotom-w would work here Its poor special bulk also means that Torkoal struggles to switch into Pokemon like Sylveon, Galarian Weezing, and Roserade, who Ninetails Ninetales would otherwise take advantage of. Lava Plume is the best attacking move of choice due to its 30% burn chance, allowing Torkoal to punish switch-ins like Rhyperior and Gigalith, as well as deter Pokemon like Dragon Dance Necrozma from taking advantage of its passiveness. Toxic is the best option in the last slot, as it allows Torkoal to punish entry hazard removers like Noivern and Rotom-W from freely coming in and using Defog. It also more reliably punishes Gigalith and Rhyperior for switching in. Alternatively, Yawn is useful to rack up Stealth Rock damage due to the switches it forces, and creates potential setup opportunities for teammates like Growth Shiftry, although the ability to immediately punish entry hazard removers and the sandstorm-setting Gigalith with Toxic is usually more valuable. would like you to mention how yawn can prevent pokemon like defog noiv/rotom from immediately removing hazards bc if you yawn them on the switch they pretty much always have to volt/uturn out Heat Rock maximizes the number of sun turns for Torkoal's teammates like Shiftry, Heliolisk, and Darmanitan to abuse, but Heavy Duty Boots is an option to reduce entry hazard damage and increase the number of times Torkoal can come in to set sun, clear hazards, or set Stealth Rock. A defensive EV spread allows Torkoal to check Pokemon like Cobalion, Doublade, and Tsareena, with the Speed letting it outspeed Copperajah, Gigalith, Doublade, and specially defensive Bronzong. trying to cut down on unnecessary info here bc this is quite long, i'll probably do a little bit of this in the teammates section too

Since Torkoal fits exclusively on sun teams, Pokemon that take advantage of the sun that Torkoal brings are mandatory teammates. Shiftry is a fantastic partner that benefits in many ways. The added Speed from Chlorophyll prevents Pokemon like Noivern and Choice Scarf Flygon from revenge killing it, and allows it to clean late game, while the boost to Growth lets Shiftry break through otherwise sturdy checks like Sylveon more reliably. Shiftry is also able to take advantage of bulky Water-types and Rock-types that check Torkoal like Rhyperior, Milotic, Rotom-W, and Gigalith if it's running Leaf Blade. Darmanitan is also a great partner who greatly benefits from both the sun powering up its already-strong Flare Blitz as well as the hazard support Torkoal provides, which allows Darmanitan to break through otherwise study checks like Gigalith and Rotom-W as well as offensive checks like Noivern, 2HKOing the former and OHKOing the latter after minimal prior damage. noiv basically always runs hdb so there's no real point in mentioning hazard support when referring to it Swords Dance Incineroar is another partner that is able to check Chandelure, who is otherwise a major problem for sun teams due to its ability to switch into Torkoal and other teammates with Flash Fire. Incineroar can also surprise and break through a weakened Gigalith and Rhyperior with Close Combat, and can break through Galarian Weezing and Sylveon easier with a sun-boosted Flare Blitz. Heliolisk is another partner that abuses bulky water-Types like Vaporeon solar power heliolisk doesn't have a water immunity so it doesn't rlly abuse vapo - it can switch in under sun bc scald doesn't do a bunch in sun, but that + potential hazard chip + solar power damage is undesirable and greatly benefits from Solar Power's Special Attack boost, letting it break through Bronzong, Escavalier, Sylveon, and Celebi more reliably. Late-game cleaners like Noivern appreciate Torkoal's ability to support the aforementioned sun-abusing wallbreakers who weaken the opposing team for Noivern, while Noivern brings Torkoal in safely on Pokemon like Bronzong, Copperajah, and Sylveon. would rather you talk about noivern being able to abuse its jacked-up flamethrower and access to solar beam here, since that's a more direct form of support torkoal provides for it - alternatively just leave this out altogether, it doesn't fit particularly well Pokemon that can directly switch into and pressure Gigalith in particular are extremely important due to Gigalith's Sand Stream negating Torkoal's sun. Swords Dance Shuca Berry (it can sd in giga's face but shuca is the important part here) Cobalion takes advantage of Gigalith and appreciates the pressure placed on traditional Cobalion checks like Milotic and Noivern by Torkoal and teammates like Darmanitan, allowing it to clean late-game.

(leaf storm isn't a thing rly, replace this with just solar blade and mention it can struggle with gigalith if it's not running leaf blade bc that's the main alternative) Darmanitan is also a great partner who greatly benefits from both the sun powering up its already-strong Flare Blitz as well as the hazard support Torkoal provides, which allows Darmanitan to break through otherwise study checks like Gigalith and Rotom-W, 2HKOing both after minimal prior damage. Swords Dance Cobalion takes advantage of Gigalith and can switch in semi-reliably if holding a Shuca Berry or Air Balloon, (coba on sun will p much always have a shuca berry or air balloon and is a reliable giga switch in as a result, change this to reflect that) while it appreciates the pressure placed on Milotic, Noivern, and other switch-ins by Torkoal and teammates like Darmanitan, help it clean late-game.

Alternatively, Yawn forces switches, which is useful to rack up Stealth Rock damage, (AC) due to the switches it forces, which is particularly useful to deter entry hazard removers like Noivern and Rotom-W that otherwise switch in freely, (P -> C) It also creates and create potential setup opportunities for teammates like Shiftry, although the ability to immediately punish checks like Rhyperior, Rotom-W, and the sandstorm-setting Gigalith with Toxic is usually more valuable. Heat Rock maximizes the number of sun turns for Torkoal's teammates like Shiftry, Heliolisk, and Darmanitan to abuse take advantage of, but Heavy-Duty Boots can be used to increase the number of times Torkoal can come in on entry hazards.

Since Torkoal fits exclusively on sun teams, Pokemon that take advantage of the sun that Torkoal brings are mandatory teammates. Shiftry is a fantastic partner that benefits in many ways. The from the added Speed from Chlorophyll, (AC) which prevents Pokemon like Noivern and Choice Scarf Flygon from revenge killing it while helping it clean late-game (AH). Additionally, the boost given by Growth lets Shiftry break through otherwise sturdy checks like Sylveon more reliably. Shiftry is also able to take advantage of and pressure bulky Water-types and Rock-types that check Torkoal like Rhyperior, Milotic, Rotom-W, and Gigalith (kindly rearrange; water-types first, then rock-types) with its powerful Solar Blade or Leaf Blade. Darmanitan is also a great partner who that greatly benefits from both the sun powering up its already strong Flare Blitz as well as and the entry hazard support Torkoal provides, which allows Darmanitan to break through otherwise sturdy checks like Gigalith and Rotom-W, 2HKOing both after minimal prior damage. Swords Dance Incineroar is another partner that is able to check Chandelure, who which is otherwise a major problem for sun teams due to its ability to switch into Torkoal and other teammates with thanks to (optional, but I like the extra clarity) Flash Fire. Incineroar can also surprise and break through KO (less rep) a weakened Gigalith and or (if rhyp is also weakened in this context) Rhyperior with Close Combat, and it can break through Galarian Weezing and Sylveon more easily with a sun-boosted Flare Blitz. Heliolisk is another partner that pressures bulky Water-types like Vaporeon, if brought in safely, and greatly benefits from Solar Power's Special Attack boost and Weather Ball's Fire-type coverage, letting it break through Bronzong, Escavalier, Sylveon, and Celebi more reliably.
