Set Details
===================
Toxapex's impressive bulk and access to Regenerator allow it to check many offensive Pokemon such as Dragapult and Jumbao. Scald is necessary to damage Heatran and potentially score a burn on Landorus-T, Melmetal, and Scizor. Knock Off is used to punish common switch-ins like Zapdos, Galarian Slowking, and Equilibra. Haze is a mandatory move, allowing Toxapex to stop Weavile and Volcarona from sweeping. Poison Jab is an option that allows Toxapex to beat Calm Mind Tapu Fini and hit Rillaboom harder. Finally, Toxic can be run to cripple Pokemon like Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Zapdos. Rocky Helmet is the preferred item, as it significantly damages multi-hit move users like Urshifu-R and Weavile while also punishing U-turn users like Dragapult and Corviknight. The given EV spread allows Toxapex to survive two Leaf Storms from Modest Life Orb Jumbao. Black Sludge can be run to give Toxapex some passive recovery and punish Trick users.

Toxapex appreciates bulky Steel-types like Heatran, Equilibra, and Ferrothorn for their ability to switch into Psychic-type attacks. Ferrothorn and Equilibra also check Electric- and Ground-types like Tapu Koko and Landorus-T. In return, Toxapex takes on the Fire- and Fighting-types of the tier. Ground-types like Landorus-T and Hippowdon are also good choices, as they can switch into Zapdos and Zeraora. Dark-types like Weavile, Colossoil, and Hydreigon help alleviate Toxapex's weakness to Future Sight. Teammates like Kyurem, Weavile, and Landorus-T appreciate Toxapex's ability to counter Urshifu-R. Dragapult and Tornadus-T enjoy Toxapex being able to switch into Weavile.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
===================
Toxapex has access to a number of other support options that can be run in the final moveslot. Toxic Spikes can be useful, especially to boost the power of Dragapult's Hex, but is inconsistent in practice due to the ubiquity of Heavy-Duty Boots and Poison-types like Galarian Slowking and opposing Toxapex that absorb them. Baneful Bunker can be utilized as a scouting tool against Choice item attackers like Tapu Lele and Dragapult while punishing U-turn from Tapu Koko and Landorus-T. Light Screen is a niche option to combat Kyurem, Volcarona, and Future Sight users, but is generally useless outside of those matchups. Toxapex can also use a Shed Shell in order to escape Heatran's Magma Storm, Tapu Fini's Whirlpool, and Scizor's Sand Tomb.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Strong Wallbreakers**: Pokemon like Tapu Lele, Rillaboom, and Kyurem can force Toxapex out with their powerful STAB moves. These Pokemon do have a tough time switching into Toxapex's attacks, however.

**Electric-types**: Tapu Koko and Discharge Zapdos hit Toxapex super effectively, either 2HKOing it or threatening it with paralysis. Both also have access to Roost, negating any chip damage Toxapex might deal with Knock Off or Scald. Arctozolt OHKOes Toxapex, while Zeraora can do the same with some chip, forcing it out. However, these two strongly dislike switching into Scald.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types like Garchomp, Landorus-T, Colossoil, and Equilibra all can force Toxapex out. None of these Pokemon, outside of Colossoil due to Guts, appreciate switching into Scald, however.

**Taunt**: Taunt users like Tapu Fini and Heatran can take away Toxapex's ability to effectively wall. Tapu Fini can use Toxapex as setup fodder or trap it with Whirlpool if it lacks Poison Jab, while Heatran can trap and KO Toxapex with the combination of Magma Storm and Earth Power.

**Future Sight**: Future Sight support from Galarian Slowking, Slowking, Slowbro, and Tapu Lele can help powerful attackers like Urshifu-R, Dragapult, Jumbao, and Kartana break through Toxapex. None of them appreciate Knock Off, however.

Toxapex's impressive bulk and access to Regenerator allow it to act as a check to many physical (because the EV spread leans into special bulk, specifying physical attackers is weird) attackers in the tier. Knock Off is used to punish common switch-ins like Zapdos and Equilibra. (also can remove Galarian Slowking's Assault Vest, which is really helpful) Haze is a mandatory move, allowing Toxapex to stop Weavile and Volcarona from sweeping. Scald is generally preferred in the final slot (reword to address the moveset edits; "hit Heatran harder" is semi-weird phrasing that probably should just be changed to "damage Heatran") to hit Heatran harder and potentially score a burn on Landorus-T, Melmetal, and Hippowdon. Poison Jab is an option that allows Toxapex to beat Calm Mind Tapu Fini and hit Rillaboom harder. Finally, Toxic can be run to cripple Pokemon like Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Zapdos. Rocky Helmet is the preferred item as it significantly damages multi-hit move users like Melmetal, Urshifu-R, and Weavile. The given EV spread allows Toxapex to live two Leaf Storms from Modest Life Orb Jumbao.

Due to Toxapex's outstanding capabilities as a wall, it fits on many team archetypes. (this adds no significant content) Toxapex appreciates bulky Steel-types like Heatran, Equilibra, and Ferrothorn for their ability to switch into Psychic-type attacks. Ferrothorn and Equilibra also check Electric-type Pokemon like Tapu Koko. In return, Toxapex takes on the Fire- and Fighting-types of the tier. On that note, Ground-types like Landorus-T and Hippowdon are also good choices as they can switch into Zapdos and Zeraora. Dragapult and Tornadus-T enjoy Toxapex being able to switch into Weavile.

Toxapex has access to a number of other support options that can be run in the final moveslot. Toxic Spikes can be useful, especially to boost the power of Dragapult's Hex, but is inconsistent in practice. (why is Toxic Spikes inconsistent? be more specific) Baneful Bunker can be utilized as a scouting tool against choice attackers, but Toxapex generally prefers its coverage. ("coverage" is a really weird way to describe the other options you'd run; I'd also specify which Choice item users you scout out because some like Weavile you don't really need to scout. You can also mention the poison utility it offers versus foes like Tapu Koko ig) Light Screen is a niche option to combat Kyurem (Volcarona too; Light Screen + Haze gives you a good edge versus it) and Future Sight users, but is generally useless outside of those matchups. Black Sludge can be run to give Toxapex some passive recovery and punish Trick users, but this notably hurts Toxapex's ability to punish U-turn and physical attackers. (this should be moved into the set details section; the passive recovery is much more helpful than you make it out to be) Toxapex can also use a Shed Shell in order to escape Heatran's Magma Storm, but this is gimmicky at best. (??? how is it gimmicky to avoid losing to Heatran bro LOL)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Tapu Lele**: Tapu Lele can force Toxapex out with its powerful Psychic-type STAB moves. It should be careful about switching into Knock Off (eh, Knock Off isn't that huge) or Poison Jab, however.

**Electric-types**: Tapu Koko and Zapdos hit Toxapex super effectively, 2HKOing it. Both have access to Roost, negating any chip damage Toxapex might incur (this is not how to use the word incur) with Knock Off or Scald.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types like Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Equilibra all force Toxapex out. Equilibra deserves special mention as it has the bulk to tank Toxapex's super effective Scald while not caring about being burnt. (Equilibra definitely cares about burns because losing out on Leftovers recovery sucks; yeah it isn't as bad as if a Garchomp or Landorus-T is burned, but it's still not good)

**Taunt**: Taunt users like Tapu Fini and Heatran can take away Toxapex's ability to effectively wall. Tapu Fini can use Toxapex as setup fodder if it lacks Poison Jab while Heatran can trap and KO Toxapex with the combination of Magma Storm and Earth Power.

**Future Sight**: Future Sight support from both forms of Slowking (Slowbro and Tapu Lele are also relevant Future Sight users, so I don't think you should just leave it to the Slowkings here) can help physical attackers like Urshifu-R and Kartana break through Toxapex. Neither appreciates Knock Off, however.

**Tapu Lele**: Tapu Lele can force Toxapex out with its powerful Psychic-type STAB moves. It should be careful about switching into Poison Jab, however. something about listing tapu lele by itself and having it first in the order of C&C bothers me; sure lele can ohko, but it can never switch directly in due to the threat of knock. maybe just replace this with "strong wallbreakers," move it down in the order, and include specs lele/CB rilla/substitute kyurem? there might be one or two more good examples but I can't think of them atm. you could also mention stuff like CB kart/specs kyurem being able to damage pex faster than it can heal with regenerator and overwhelm it in the long term; I'll leave that one up to your judgement whether to include or not

**Electric-types**: Tapu Koko and Discharge Zapdos hit Toxapex super effectively, either 2HKOing it or threatening paralysis. Both also have access to Roost, negating any chip damage Toxapex might deal with Knock Off or Scald. Arctozolt can threaten an OHKO and easily force Toxapex out, while Zeraora can do the same with prior chip damage; however, neither can ever safely switch in due to the threat of Scald.

===================

Arctozolt OHKOes Toxapex, (AC) while Zeraora can do the same with some chip, forcing it out.

Tapu Fini can use Toxapex as setup fodder or trap it with Whirlpool if it lacks Poison Jab, (AC) while Heatran can trap and KO Toxapex with the combination of Magma Storm and Earth Power.

**Future Sight**: Future Sight support from both forms of Galarian Slowking, (AC) Slowking, Slowbro, and Tapu Lele can help powerful attackers like Urshifu-R, Dragapult, Jumbao, and Kartana break through Toxapex. None of them appreciate Knock Off, however.
