Toxic Sweep

Roserade (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Sleep Powder
- Toxic Spikes
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Roserade is an ideal Lead for this team. It allows me to set up Toxic spikes reliably while usually putting a pokemon or two out of commision with either sleep powder or by attacking directly. The Evs are standard. Focus sash allows me to survive a hit and put my opponent to sleep while i set up some Toxic Spikes.

Empoleon (M) @ Petaya Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 12 HP/232 Spd/252 SAtk/12 Def
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Agility
- Hydro Pump
- Substitute
- Ice Beam

Empoleon is the Main sweeper on this team.Without the Calm minds celbi once passed I decided to go back and use the standard Petaya Berry Set. Evs allow me to activate Berry after three substitues, and with empoleons immpresive resistances i usually find the time to set up an agility and a few subs. I chose Hydro pump over Surf just to nab a few Kos surf cant reach.

Latias @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/6 Def/252 Spd
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Dragon Pulse
- Surf
- Roar
- Recover

Originally I had a Calm mind passing Celebi in this slot. It came to my attention however, that i had a huge infernape weakness on my team. To correct that i sought out a reliable infernape counter that was resistant/immune to fighting, ground, electric. Latias makes a Suitable replacement for Celebi. It helps out my team by taking on several common attacking types. It helps me out further by Shuffling my opponents team, hopefully allowing me to poison several pokemon. Dragon Pulse for Stab and I choose surf simply because they compliment eachother quite well.

Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 244 HP/220 Spd/32 SAtk/12 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Lava Plume
- Substitute
- Torment
- Protect

I knew i wanted Heatran on this team from the start so i could have the awesome Celetran defense. But i didnt want to use the usual Scarftran, so I decided to try out Smogons Torment set and i havent changed it since. Torment Heatran works really well on this team. With Toxic Spikes support heatran can beat many of its usual counters such as Vaporeon, Swampert and Blissey(without Aroma Therapy). The idea is simple yet brilliant. Switch in on something that will switch out, set up a Sub on the switch and proceed to torment and Stall with Protect and Sub. Many pokemon tend to carry only one move that can hit heatran super effectively. Whatever i cant Poison i hit with Lava Plume. If i burn it with its 30% burn rate i proceed to stall. The biggest counter Ironically is opposing Heatran. Though Torment usually forces them to switch out.

Rotom-h @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/188 Spd/68 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Overheat

Once toxic Spikes get set up i really dont want a rapid spinner to ruin the fun. So i choose Rotom as my Rapid Spin Blocker. The evs are something i came up with. With a timid nature and 188 Speed EVs i hit a speed of 280, that put me 1 speed point in front of lucario who can give my team hell. I usually switch in on a Swords Dance and Proceed to One Hit KO with Overheat. Thunderbolt and Shadow ball offer Reliable Stabs. For the final moveslot i was going to go with Will-o-Wisp or Thunderwave but i realized that they didnt go well with toxic spikes already on the field, So i went with Hidden Power Ice. One of the most annoying pokemon to Rotom in my opinion is Gliscor, who has set up on mine a couple times. With HP Ice I get a clean KO on it plus it leaves a big dent in Salamence/Dragonite.

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 128 HP/252 Atk/128 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- U-turn

Finally i needed something to scare off the likes of Blissey and Latias who could be problimatic to Empoleon and Heatran. I knew just what to use. Scizor is the most OU pokemon for a reason. I know you all get tired of hearing this but, Bullet Punch and Pursuit for Revenge Kills, Super power to hit incoming Heatran/Magnezones, U-Turn For a strong stab and to Scout switch ins.The EVs arent special. Max Attack and I divided the rest between HP and Special Defense for some bulk.

Watch out for infernape, especially the lead ape with fakeout/flamethrower/closecombat

1) Any smart player knows every lead roserade is sashed, then he fakeouts which forces a switch

2) empoleon, celebi, heatran, scizor are all slower than infernape and would each respectively switch into a super effective attack

3) rotom is the only viable counter here, but once he's gone, you can pretty much say bye bye to the rest of your team if infernape is still alive

Good team. Firstly, I really see the lack of Fire-type check for this team, most especially mix Infernape. Heatran will be quite troublesome as well with SD Lucario + Heatran being a common combo today to take Overheat from Rotom and whatnot. A simple addition would be a bulky CM Latias to handle Fire-type threats nicely over Celebi, which currently contributes nothing at all imo.

Latias
@ Leftovers
Timid Nature (Spe+ / Atk-)
252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe

- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Recover
- Roar

This specific Latias fits on Toxic Spikes teams. Starting off with the EV spread, its quite uncommon but max HP lets Latias takes Specs Fire Blast from Heatran, Specs Thunderbolt from Jolteon, etc. more better. Latias acts like the defensive backbone on the team with the current EV spread, taking most of the specially based hits by herself. The basic premise of this set is to Calm Mind, you lure in Blissey (hopefully), get the Toxic Spikes affecting her, etc. Dragon Pulse can only be spaced in for one moveslot to provide a near unresisted coverage, only checked by Steel-types. Recover heals you. Roar forms the moveset as it acts as a good check to mono Suicune (a threat), as well as Roaring away common phazers first before they roar you. The art of this set is luring in Hippowdon and Swampert (taking the Toxic Spikes damage), and Roaring them first before they Roar you. This way you rack up Toxic Spikes damage, and you get your Calm Mind boosts in safely.

On Rotom, I'd look for Reflect over Hidden Power Ice to take on physical threats more better, and in general, take its from Salamence much easier. Hidden Power Ice is almost hard to use as you have to smash Salamence / Dragonite on the switch.

As for other options, the lack of Stealth Rock seems like a turn off as teams that are immune to Toxic Spikes have an easy time with this team. The way I see it, you have two choices. Space in Stealth Rock on Empoleon (the only way without removing Pokemon) or opt to use the stallbreaker Gliscor set which is Jolly with evs of 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe and moveset Taunt / Earthquake / Stealth Rock / Roost to provide some good way to check Aroma Blissey, Wish, and any form of recovery to prevent healing off those Toxic Spikes. Stealth Rock adds a way to beat Salamence and Gyarados more better. Roost + Earthquake + Taunt is a cool way to stall breaker by alternating between Roost and Earthquake to bring the foe down. Gliscor's main role is to stop set ups and help set up Stealth Rock. To conclude, 2 choices are Stealth Rock on Empoleon (if you dont want to replace Pokemon) or putting Gliscor over Empoleon to make it a more bulky oriented team. overall gl.

Great team, and a small nitpick here, you should probably replace HP: Electric with Grass Knot on your Empoleon, though I recognize that you see Tentacruel as a thread, Swampert is more more so, completely walling Empoleon without Grass Knot, that and Swampert is a FAR more common switch in, and poke in general, as well as the ability to threaten Empy with an EQ.

Just a quick rate, if I see anything else wrong I'll edit this post.

are you sure you dont like subpetaya empoleon set....cause i use it in conjuction with celebi and it honestly can take out things that resist it with a couple of calm minds under its belt ... also....arent you worried that empoleon get knock out on the pass..or take mega damage from it..ending his sweep with life orb recoil pretty fast....you could try reflect over recover on celebi to soften physical hits on the pass.... but its honestly your choice

When i meet a Lead ape i can usually predict the fake-out so I switch to rotom or Latias and bring is roserade later to finish the job. I am now aware i do have a pretty big Infernape weakness so i decided to make some changes to my team which include replacing Celebi and changing Empoleons Set. Thanks for the help guys.

I don't see a need for Latias to max speed why not just go with 176 speed evs and use the remaining 80 EV's for SpA or even Defense? It could put much more use IMO as with Latias sole purpose as you have mentioned I don't see as to why it has to run max speed.

Max speed is important so that you tie with other Latias/Gengar instead of auto-losing.

Your team looks solid after the changes, but the lack of Stealth Rock is problematic. A lot of the OU metagame is immune to Toxic Spikes so you'll want Stealth Rock to damage other switch ins. This is important because things like Gyarados and Salamence can have repeated opportunities to set up because they won't have to worry about Stealth Rock.

I'm going to suggest a Smeargle lead over Roserade since it can set up Toxic Spikes and Stealth Rock.

Smeargle @ Focus Sash
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SpA)
- Spore
- Toxic Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- ExtremeSpeed

Pretty self-explanitory. The last slot is pretty flexible. ExtremeSpeed is an option to break Focus Sashes.

I am very grateful for your comment Bribes. I am aware that stealth rock is necessary so I can nab some kos and weaken some flying pokemon, most natably salamence and gyarados. Problem is I couldn't think of a lead that could set up both Toxic spikes and Stealth rock. Toxic spikes is a must for empoleon/heatran to be succesfull. I will try out that smeargle,it may be too frail to set up both entry hazards, but at least he gets a chance right?
