Toxicroak's unique typing and excellent coverage slots it into a position as one of the few wallbreakers that can power through the many of the tier's traditional Fighting-type checks, such as Vileplume, Vaporeon, and Aromatisse. Its Poison/Fighting typing and immunity to Water-type moves thanks to Dry Skin grant Toxicroak a set of resistances in Grass, Fighting, Dark, and Rock that give it opportunities to set up against Pokemon like Vileplume, Virizion, and Choice-locked Passimian. Drain Punch provides Toxicroak with longevity while still functioning as a solid secondary STAB option against the prominent Steel-types in the tier, such as Copperajah and Silvally-Steel. Sucker Punch allows Toxicroak to pick off Alolan Raichu and Salazzle before they can revenge kill it. Alternatively, Knock Off gives Toxicroak the ability to secure KOs on Pokemon that it normally can't break, such as Claydol and Jellicent. Life Orb is necessary, as it allows Toxicroak to nab OHKOs against Vileplume, Salazzle, and Silvally-Ghost at +2.
Toxicroak ability to remove Vileplume, Vaporeon, and Aromatisse means that late-game cleaners such as Virizion, Passimian, and Scrafty all appreciate its support. All three of these Pokemon also share similar checks to Toxicroak and help overwhelm them. Toxicroak struggles significantly with bulky Ground-types such as Mudsdale, Rhydon, and Gastrodon, as all of them can take a +2 Drain Punch and then fire back with a Ground-type move for an OHKO. Hence, support from switch-ins to these Pokemon, such as Jellicent, Virizion, and Rillaboom, are greatly appreciated. Many of the tier's fast Fire-types such Ninetales, Salazzle and Charizard serve as solid offensive checks to Toxicroak, so Pokemon that can easily switch in, such as Jellicent, Vaporeon, and Rhydon are all solid partners. All three of these Pokemon also appreciate Toxicroak's ability to overwhelm the tier's Grass-types. Toxicroak also gets revenge killed very consistently by Indeedee due to Psychic Surge stopping priority, so Pokemon that can switch in and take advantage of it being Choice-locked, such as Steelix, Malamar, and Silvally-Dark, all make for good partners.

[SET COMMENTS]
Toxicroak's niche as a Choice Scarf user comes from its ability to revenge kill many of the tier's top setup Pokemon with its excellent coverage and its solid base 85 Speed stat that allows it to outpace the most common Choice Scarf user in the tier Passimian. Due to its unique typing and ability, Toxicroak is also able to find opportunities to switch into the likes of Virizion, Inteleon, and Scrafty. STAB Gunk Shot allows Toxicroak to cleanly OHKO Virizion while also taking out threats like Flapple, Silvally-Fairy, and Rillaboom. Low Kick is run over other Fighting-type coverage due to its ability to hit the tier's most prominent Ground-types, Steelix and Rhydon, with a incredibly strong super effective STAB move. Earthquake allows Toxicroak to revenge kill Salazzle, Ninetales, and Alolan Raichu consistently without the fear of missing. Rock Slide is the preferred last move, as it grants Toxicroak the ability to take out Frosmoth and Charizard, the former of which still gets revenge killed even if it has used Quiver Dance once. Alternatively, Knock Off can be used to remove the Ghost-types that this set otherwise struggles with while providing Toxicroak with a solid option to cripple walls like Mudsdale, Rhydon, and Weezing.
Toxicroak's ability to take out many of the tier's Fire-types makes teammates the rely on their removal to succeed, such as Frosmoth and Vanilluxe, excellent teammates. Choice Scarf Toxicroak, once revealed, will often force switches into Ground- and Ghost-types, so teammates that can take advantage of the likes of Jellicent, Mudsdale, and Gastrodon, such as Rillaboom, Drampa, and Decidueye, greatly appreciate the opportunities to switch in. Outside of revenge killing, Toxicroak also functions well as a late-game cleaner, so breakers like Swords Dance Rhydon, Copperajah, and Choice Specs Rotom all are appreciated by it. Weezing is also incredibly problematic for this set, so counters like Xatu and Salazzle are appreciated by Toxicroak.
