Hi, I'm here to advocate for the inclusion of SS Partners in Crime. PiC has previously featured in TPP and has been really well received since breaking into the OM teamtours which has let us develop the SV metagame further than I think we imagined at the start of the generation. I think at least a few of our players would love a chance to go back to gen 8 and give it the development it deserves while putting on some good games for this tour.

Hello everyone, im gonna share my thoughts for formats in tpp

i havent been a fan of the tpp format process so far and i think the tiers are decided soon, so to help i have came up with a short list of 3 requirements that make a format in tpp good
  • Uniqueness
How unique is the format itself?
How unique will different teams from different players be?
Will players use teams that were used in the past or will they build their own teams?

  • Comprehensiveness
How easy is the format to pick up?
How easy is it for a player playing a different format to help in teambuilding?

  • Enjoyability
Is this format fun to build and play?
Is it fun to watch?
Does it attract a good player pool and does it result in enjoyable / intense games?
How active will this formats channel be?

lets take a look at the best format in tpp: same six

what has made same six so successful?
  • Uniqueness: this doesnt need much explanation
  • Comprehensiveness: anyone can pick this up or help with teambuilding; you have the same six pokemon on both teams
  • Enjoyability: whether you have been apart of a good or bad team, same six has most likely been your most active channel in your teams discord. throughout the years i personally enjoyed this format the most myself

mashups
with the mashups ill focus more on comprehensiveness and enjoyability and why i am against mashups like camove, pokebh, and most stabmons mashups

there are too many good moves in pokemon. that fact makes these kinds of mashups unenjoyable and hard to understand. i dont want to build, play, or watch a pokemon match where all your pokemon are spamming healing moves, anchor shot, spectral thief, doom desire, pivoting moves, hazards, and hazard removal. as a camomons player myself, i did not want to play or build for camove at all last year because it wasnt fun

with that being said id recommend snm and caaamo

i also dont really care too much if a meta has resources or not. if you are really desperate for resources for caaamo for example, aaa and camomons both have great resources already

NDubers - without obtainable formes
other than same six, i think this format has been the second best tier from tpp - however i dont know if we should keep it
  • Enjoyability: in my opinion this format has produced the best player pool quality and the best games in tpp
  • Uniqueness: this is the reason why i might want to see a different format this year. people have been using the same teams or ideas from the past few years
on the other hand i couldnt think of another ubers type of "tpp" format that can match the player quality of ndubers obtainable formes, but i think AAA ubers could work

Mystery / Iron Chef OU:
  • Uniqueness: i feel like a lot of people reused teams for whatever mystery ou format was chosen. for example if it was monocolour ou, people would already have multiple sample teams from many different colours ready to go. so id like to see something else
i havent played nor do i know much about ou this gen but some kind of ban or ban and pick system could be interesting - one thing up for discussion is how many bans and picks would be needed for both sides? something that also could be interesting to see is a OU format with ghosting.

“niche” formats:
e.g./ bwpuaaatd, orre, etc
  • Comprehensiveness (e.g./ orre): i think it was great that the orre community was a part of tpp last year, however, i dont think most people outside of that community playing in tpp had a clue as to how to help their orre player build. so i think we should go away from these types of formats
however, there are two formats stolen from NatDex Alt Metagames that are easy to pick up: 35 Pokes and Home Field Advantage

35 Pokes:
35 Pokes is similar to same six but i dont mind it. The host generates 35 (we can change the number if needed) random pokemon at the start of the tournament and that set of pokemon is used the whole tournament.

Home Field Advantage:
bo3, you have a list of formats (im not sure what they could be) - the first game's tier will be randomized among the tiers not chosen by either player. remaining games will be played in the loser's chosen tier.

other people prob have better ideas for the list of formats here, but maybe we could do OUBL, UUBL, RUBL..., LC Ubers

To summarize here are my recommendations:
Same Six
StabNMega
CAAAmomons
NDubers obtainable formes / AAA Ubers
B12P6 SP Rands
Ban and Pick OU / B10P6 Ghosting OU / Gen 9 OU + One Mon from each tier (taken from a TPP seasonal) / anything more interesting than Mystery OU
35 Pokes / Home Field Advantage (I prefer 35 Pokes)
*Doubles

*if it were up to me i wouldnt choose to have doubles, but that probably isnt the popular opinion
