Metagame Trademarked

I was trying to use a challenge code to play a match of Trademarked with a friend to bypass some of the bans, but it seems like challenge commands weren't working because it did not recognize the Trademarked abilities. The team had went through the validity team check for Trademarked, and worked under the normal challenge without the command, but the /challenge command for Trademarked just wasn't working. Is there a way to get this working, or did i mess up in my command?
My command was simple- /challenge gen9Trademarked @@@ Max Level = 100, Min Level = 50, ! Obtainable Moves, ! Obtainable Abilities, + Past.

These were all Pokemon that worked regardless of my command, but had me worried due to it not working, in the case I wanted to use banned stuff with friends.

Trademarked

Banner by Gravity Monkey

In Trademarked, Pokemon can put one of their status moves in the ability slot and have it activate upon every* switch in, giving up their ability in the process.

Clauses:
Standard OMs
Single Trademark Clause. (1 of each trademark per team).
Sleep Moves Clause
Min Source Gen = 9

Banlist:
Trademarked Moves:
Baneful Bunker, Block, Chilly Reception, Copycat, Detect, Destiny Bond, Encore, Fairy Lock, Ingrain, Instruct, Mean Look, move:Metronome, Nasty Plot, Parting Shot, Protect, Roar, Silk Trap, Spiky Shield, Sleep Talk, Shed Tail, Shell Smash, Substitute, Swords Dance, Teleport, Thunder Wave, Trick Room, Will-O-Wisp, Whirlwind
Moves: Baton Pass, Last Respects, Revival Blessing
Abilities: Arena Trap, Magnet Pull, Moody, Shadow Tag
Pokemon: Arceus, Calyrex-Ice, Calyrex-Shadow, Dialga, Dialga-Origin, Eternatus, Flutter Mane, Giratina, Giratina-Origin, Groudon, Koraidon, Kyogre, Landorus-Base, Magearna, Mewtwo, Miraidon, Palkia, Palkia-Origin, Rayquaza, Slaking, Spectrier, Urshifu-Base, Zacian, Zacian-Crowned

Watchlist:
Trademarks: Disable, nonvolatile status moves such as Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave, Self Switching Moves
Pokemon: Annihilape, Iron Bundle, Iron Valiant

Strategy:
  • Pokemon can set up more easily, as they can simply swap in to gain a boost from their trademark as opposed to having to force something out or swallow a hit.
  • Defensive Pokemon can take advantage of stat dropping moves like Charm or Confide to get the edge vs Pokemon that may not be using boosting moves or to weaken Pokemon that are using them, especially since having a boosting move as a trademark usually means a foe isn't running one as a regular move.
  • Entry hazard setup and removal is also made much easier as you can now simply use it on switch-in (though hazard stacking at that point will definitely not be as easy).
  • Overall, Pokemon with setup as trademarks need to be prepped for (especially choiced ones), and the mons that may abuse stat drop status moves will make u more wary when u swap in your setup user.

Potential Sets:
:sv/Iron Valiant:
Iron Valiant @ Life Orb
Ability: Agility
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 64 Atk / 252 SpA / 192 Spe
Rash Nature
- Moonblast
- Close Combat
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball

Iron Valiant no longer needs to run Booster Energy to increase its speed, and can instead invest in both offensive stats for a terrifying mixed attacker.

:sv/Corviknight:
Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Light Screen
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Roost
- Defog

Corviknight can give itself and its allies the same bulk as Ice Scales thanks to Light Screen, which doesn't get removed by the user's defog.

:sv/Meowscarada:
Meowscarada @ Choice Band
Ability: Spikes
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- U-turn
- Flower Trick

Meowscarada becomes a dangerous choiced pivot by setting a layer of spikes whenever it comes in.

:sv/Gholdengo:
Gholdengo @ Assault Vest
Ability: Trick
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Make It Rain
- Shadow Ball
- Nasty Plot
- Recover

By having Trick as a trademark, Gholdengo can cripple its opponent by giving it an Assault Vest, preventing it from using status moves.

FAQ:
Q: How does trademark interact with the likes of trace, skill swap and other ability transfer/ removal moves and abilities?
A: All ability changing moves work as they normally do. It still does what it needs to as a move though.

Q: How does taunt and assault vest effect trademarks?
A: Because they are treated as abilities, effects that would normally prevent the move from being used do not affect trademarks.

Q:How do Magic Bounce and Imprison affect trademarks?
A: Magic Bounce rebounds status moves as trademark back as they should, however Imprison doesn't block trademarks.

Q: Can trademarks miss or run out of pp?
A: They do not run out of pp or miss as they are essentially abilities.

Q: There's a limit on trademark activations now?
A: The format was removed last generation because of various infinite loops discovered, putting a strain on the server. Now, each Pokemon can attempt to use a trademark once per turn, which shouldn't affect the gameplay too drastically and would only be noticable if you attempted to make an infinite loop yourself.

Playability: Playable on Pokemon Showdown!
Question?
Why are like status moves as a ability gets invalid when you post a team with each trademark on the server?

Not sure when this meta will become more relevant again but wanted to post this anyway. Meet the permatrapping duo:

Smeargle @ Eject Button
Ability: noretreat
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 Def / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Soak
- Skill Swap
- U-turn
- Infestation

Mew @ Leftovers
Ability: imprison
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 4 SpD / 124 Spe
Bold Nature
- U-turn
- Flip Turn
- Transform
- Volt Switch

Basically the idea is to pass No Retreat with Smeargle and then to switch into something that also blocks pivot. If you're afraid of the opposing pokemon's boosts, you can also throw in a Topsy-Turvy Malamar there if you like.

Glad to see this OM finally get a ladder but why is endure restricted? Last time tm had a ladder it was completely fine imo.
The idea of being about to pivot into any attack and live once, maybe multiple times if you can't keep up hazards, sounds kinda busted ngl

Also can we get the bans implemented please? I'm tired of facing Volcarona #25 on the ladder and Stun Spore/Glare is making me tweak

:roaring-moon::cinderace::iron-moth::walking-wake::blissey::corviknight:

this is almost definitely not a good team but its a real fun one imo.

the team is sun, because 252 SpA Choice Specs Tera Fire Iron Moth Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Eviolite Chansey in Sun: 362-428 (51.4 - 60.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO and 252 SpA Choice Specs Tera Fire Iron Moth Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 64 SpD Toxapex in Sun: 201-237 (66.1 - 77.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery. moon seems like the best sun setter since it packs uturn and some very useful resistances. ace hits pretty hard in the sun, helps a ton against hazards which this team hates, and can pivot (i dont think i clicked sd even once). moth is a horrifying monster in the sun and with agility+pivoting (hint hint) you will get multiple opportunities to nuke someone's face. wake is here cause its broken and busts through garg (as well as pex with tera) and also helps a lot against rain. the two ebuttons are most likely suboptimal but hilarious since you proc it on like tusk's spin or something and moth gets to nuke someone's face. id on corv over a screen because ace, and over defog since i really need the bulk here against like dd pult.

this team is definitely not optimal. moon can probably run something like eq on the last slot though i do like dtail. ace's sd can be sucker or wisp or something. moth can legitimately run 3 fire moves (overheat+fblast+flamethrower) esp since i clicked the discharge/solarbeam slot literally never and fire blast misses have costed me games multiple times. wake can literally run spa boosting protosynthesis lmao (its ddance since moth is agility) or scary face/noble roar or whatever and i suppose you can run hydropump>flamethrower for out of sun and against rain (i never clicked flames either). if you are sane youd probably not run ebutton on bliss and/or corv but its hilarious.

d1 team, dlc2 ver of this as dlc brought some really stupid stuff to the table

:roaring moon::ogerpon-hearthflame::gouging fire::corviknight::blissey::walking wake:

:roaring moon: rm is still sun setter bc its fast fat and useful type. dlc gave it knock off which is quite cool although in practice it should just be running away asap. as an aside band/scarf dd moon with knock sounds really menancing in general, its like the normal variants of those sets but like with twice the stats.

:ogerpon-hearthflame: this mon is very dumb and is the main way the team gets through fat teams. autocrit cudgel under sun is already a menace and teraing it with a +1 atk bonus (lol) renders it completely unstoppable. like hearthflame feels genuinely so dumb sometimes since the tier's primary way of actually defensively checking the crazy stuff running around is reflect/def boosts, so basically this mon has no actual defensive checks (besides like, vanilla heatran). sub and tb hard punishes passive responses or sacks and gives the mon potential usefulness vs offense. play rough can clip a random dpult/rm out of sun and hits wake ig idk i only every clicked it vs kommoo you can probably replace with stomping or spiky shield or smth.

:gouging fire: dd and sun gives this mon all the power it needs so its scarf to give the team its speed. this thing is insane vs offense, its way too tanky, as fast as dd pult, and has insane amounts of power in the sun. even with scarf its stronger than oger raw although it lacks ogers cheaty autocrit bullshit so its mostly a revenge/cleaner, but it is impressively good at that (tera fire oneshots most offensive resists in sun). btw ada actually speedties dd pult so you might want jolly.

:corviknight: ebutton #1, throw this against a physical guy for a free kill. despite the merits of ability defog i think reflect is pretty clutch for this team against dd mons or whatever and it aims to win before rocks become a losecon anyway.

:blissey: ebutton #2, free kill into special hit etc etc. im deathly afraid of random stunspore slither wing or whatever so this is a blissey with heal bell. otherwise this + corv + rm gives the team a semblance of defensive integrity should it need it.

:walking wake: scary face can be randomly useful tbh if gouging needs to revenge smth somehow faster than it but losing agi sucks so honestly you can probably replace it with rgb or a defensive helper or real hazards or smth.

Because it enables pokemon to live forever when they shouldnt (eleki was the biggest user but anything with high speed + boots can)

Correct with the first part, stall/fat was pretty infamous for abusing it.

Seems like DD and QD/Volcarona were missed, nice catch. Ill bring this up with council
Annihilape should be banned for abusing Rage Fist + infinite Wishes and Ogerpon-Hearthflame should be banned for Focus Energy destroying walls and opposing Pokemon without speed boosts.
Honestly, Annihilape (from my experience anyway) isn't very good? Reflect/ID/Charm/AArmor/etc really shut it down and it wants 5 moves + has no amazing Trademarks; Focus Energy needs Scope Lens + is relatively easy to shut down, Bulk Up can't set up, and Scary Face and Spite have their own issues. Maybe it can do more in future but for now I'm not as sold on it.

Hearthflame can probably be watched but it kinda suffers from ability overwrite shoehorning it into trying to sweep on the spot. It also has a GLARING hazard weakness in a meta where hazard setting and stacking is incredibly easy and commonplace. Don't get me wrong - it is really strong, especially on Sun - but its no instant game-winner.

This is already one of my favourite OMs of all time, has a very unique feel and power level and I'm loving the small banlist compared to other OMs. Hoping for no bans other than certain moves.

Big fan of Gouging Fire if dd is banned. By far the best Hearthflame check, even +2 Stomping Tantrum doesn't KO I'm pretty sure. I've been a fan of Burning Bulwark too, stalls out weather turns, and really good into physical offense. Not broken either imo, too many mons have non-contact physical moves and heal bell blissey is quite good imo, mainly punishes lazy uturns.

Think hearthflame is completely fine, largely walled by goug and insane hazard weakness in a tier with auto spikes. Tera on it is not bad by any means but it removes its trademark so that's a big point against it. Anti-offense stuff like auto sticky webs hurts it too and also sun in general.

Don't think ape is broken either given poor trademarks, it's a highly effective way to make progress into defensive teams which do have access to some insane tools imo like auto fog/wish/idef. DD/QD being legal trademarks is surprising, it's disproportionately powerful compared to other trademarks and I'd honestly assumed it was already banned.

Some hax stuff also exists that usually doesn't in OMs e.g. bright powder for one is legal. Nonsense like sand attack and confuse ray have also been here from the start so I'm wondering if the council does not see these as an issue?

It's more like the cost of using these is so significant that it'd take a serious amount of effort to make them actually work against a player of decent skill.

And HiZo this is not an invitation to prove me wrong. Even if this is a former Miss Crisis meta.

In my opinion wacky stuff like this is what makes this om so fun and unique.

Also just my two cents but I dont think its a broken move and can be countered with hazards/knock off, scarf, rocky helmet and literally any status or prio, things that any decent team will be running. The move allows creative counterplay to otherwise almost impossible to deal offensive power some mons have like Ogrepon and allows for more creative teambuilding.

Gouging Fire is the ONLY defensive Pokemon (maybe Tauros-Paldea-Blaze but that's fake) that can wall Ogerpon-Hearthflame with Focus Energy. Broken checks broken. Also, Burning Bulwark is meant to be restricted, and I don't really see the hazard argument because you can simply pair an auto-Defog teammate alongside Hearthflame.

Annihilape can abuse the infinite Wishes and a Bulk Up to threaten even offense teams and become nearly unkillable. I fail to see how Annihilape is necessary to "make progress into defensive teams" when powerful setup moves already exist for offense. Iron Defense, Defog, and Wish are absolutely not broken whatsoever in the context of normal offense gaining much more powerful moves with Victory Dance, Quiver Dance, Focus Energy, Sticky Web, etc.

Raging Bolt and Volcarona are now banned, and Dragon Dance restricted!
Speed control is way more limited now than last time with Tailwind and Thunder Wave restricted so further adjustment have been needed, right now it doesn't seem like other QD users are relevant, so action on Volcarona was preferred.

We are currently looking for people that wants to be part of the council for this tier, in case anyone is interested.

In theory these do answer, in practice they don't because they get scouted or heal belled. Endure was mainly used on stall where its really difficult to punish endure from a player that knows what they're doing, and while Toxic is definitely good the necessity to use Tera Ground + Toxic or Rocky Helmet is incredibly unhealthy, so it's just better to remove it. As someone who has both used and played against the Trademark, it's not balanced at all.

I actually think the part that makes Annihilape significantly more manageable in this meta is the part where it gets hit by various chip damage trademarks and it cannot Taunt to prevent them. The Will-O-Wisp trademark was nasty back in the day, but Toxic and Leech Seed trademarks still do a number to it, and auto-Sandstorm isn't exactly enjoyable.
