Pet Mod Trading Post (Slate 2)

With that, Slate 2 is completed (barring any coding issues)!
If you have an idea of what your item's sprite should be, let me know in the discord!

Type A
normalium-z--held.png
Normalium Z (from Yoshiblaze): If holder has a Normal move, this item allows it to use a Normal Z-Move.
pinsirite.png
Pinsirite (from Orangesodapop): If held by a Pinsir, this item allows it to Mega Evolve in battle.
venusaurite.png
Venusaurite (from ErrorMon): If held by a Venusaur, this item allows it to Mega Evolve in battle.
Type B
big-root.png
Big Root (from Cyaneedle): Holder gains 1.5x HP from draining/Aqua Ring/Ingrain/Leech Seed/Strength Sap.
eviolite.png
Eviolite (from bro torterra): Holder has 1.5x Def/SpD and 1.3x Atk/SpA per possible evolution. (ie Pokemon that evolve twice gain 2.25x and 1.69x)
Type C
[TBD] Baseball Glove (from anaconja): On switchin, blocks one attack from the opponent and lowers their Atk/SpA if an attack was blocked. Single use.
bicycle.png
Bicycle (from Fragmented): After attacking, swaps held items with the target.
[TBD] Bizarre Vest (from Samtendo09): Holder moves last in its priority bracket. If holder's Atk/SpA > Def/SpD, the user's Def/SpD will equal its Atk/SpA.
[TBD] Golden Belt (from DuoM2): If the user is at full HP, they are immune to incoming status moves.
net.png
Heavy Net (from Rasdanation): Halves the holder's Speed. If the holder is targeted with a move that has a pivoting effect, this item reveals itself and will block that pivoting effect.
explorer-kit.png
Mining Helmet (from Squawkerz): If holder is hit by a Dark-type or Rock-type move, the attacker loses 1/6 of its max HP.
[TBD] Mirror Shroud (from War Incarnate): If the holder is hit by a Special move, reflects 33% of the damage back to the attacker.
[TBD] Paladin Shield (from PalpitoadChamp): This Pokemon is immune to stat drops and secondary effects.
[TBD] Pineapple Pizza (from Beebos): Holder consumes this item at 1/2 max HP or lower: If the holder has a neutral nature, restore 1/2 max HP and any nonvolatile status condition, otherwise Confuse the holder.
[TBD] Rain Jacket (from Jumpheart): Extends user's set Rain by 1 turn. 1.5x SpDef in Rain.
[TBD] Shard of True Ice (from Taliyeet): If the holder is an Ice type with <600 BST: User resists Dragon/Steel/Fighting and Stealth Rock, but is weak to Dark/Psychic/Poison.
[TBD] Tera Amulet (from Gaboswampert): Reduces the damage of the type this Pokemon can Terastalize into by 0.4. Announces itself on switch-in as well as the type it reduces damage from.

Please discuss these items in the thread or in the discord. I have 1 (possibly 2) more slates planned, date TBD.

Happy Trading!

Basic thoughts again.

Normalium Z is a very cool choice here. We all know how strong Z-Moves are but limiting it to one type changes the amount of possible checks each Pokémon can lure out. For example, Something like Scizor could Z-Move past Zapdos, but still doesn't do great into Corviknight regardless. Kinda similar vein to Iron Fist Bug Tera where yeah, the mechanic as a whole is uncompetitive, but limiting it to one type changes a lot about the dynamic.

The different hazard game and the lack of competition with Megas will make it interesting to see how Mega Pinsir and Venusaur will be. I have a bit less faith in Pinsir but could see Venusaur being fine especially as a check to offensive Grasses and Fairies.

Big Root I could see being nice for something like Hatterene especially that runs CMKiss. Would lessen the amount of boosts you'd need to sustain yourself and begin snowballing.

My brain jumps to Porygon2 as a potentially solid Eviolite user but I'm not super convinced it'll be anything better than decent. It's like, not an inherently bad Pokémon, has a weird but solid set of Pokémon that it checks, but it lacks utility and is vulnerable to chip damage. I could see it being fringe viable maybe. Mostly the kind of Pokemon that you can't really justify unless your team needs the extremely specific stuff it can offer.

Baseball Glove looks really strong. There are a lot of Pokémon that have an inability to get in as one of their major weaknesses and being able to do so for free while severely messing with a bunch of Pokémon with the stat drops is a big deal. One-time use is plenty since you can easily run this on faster-paced teams.

...Is the Paladin Shield not just a better version of the Twist Band, which people were already calling really strong? If its effect only applies to opponents' moves then Intimidate-proof Covert Cloak is cool but if it applies to the holder's own Draco Meteor then that's very strong.

Tera Amulet gives a Pokémon essentially either a free resistance or neutralizes one of its weaknesses. Should be a very good item, a big contender for the de facto fat mon item for the tier, but it's one that effects teambuilding in a pretty fun way. Imagine giving your Ting-Lu a free Dragon resist so it can handle Dragapult better, or giving your Dondozo a free Grass resist so it can check Ogerpon better, so on.

That's about all that I find immediately interesting to talk about. Maybe I'm not thinking about some of these items enough but it feels like the best items of this slate are wayyyyy stronger than the average ones.

I worded the item wrong. THIS ITEM SHOULD NOT AFFECT SELF-STAT DROPS. This does not allow free Draco Meteors. Thank you for your time.

Thought I’d drop some thoughts on some items that Duo didn’t cover.

Bicycle brings item disruption up to 11. Suppressing Armor holders really don’t like this item, although it is worth noting that in order to actually disrupt the opponent’s item, they have to either be faster, switching in, or using a status move, otherwise they can attack same turn and get it right back. Could also give mons more reason to run Bottled Lightning however, given with it you essentially paralyze your opponent, get their bike, and then steal another mon’s item with said bike.

Pineapple Pizza likely won’t see much use. A Sitrus Berry combined with Lum Berry is on paper solid, however it only has Sitrus Berry trigger conditions and requires you to actively nerf your own mon by giving it a neutral nature.

Bizarre Vest is in fact bizarre. Any Mon with strong mixed offenses suddenly gets just as much walling potential, but at the cost of moving last. idk in what direction this will go in terms of viability, especially when any holder of this item probably hates getting hit with a Bicycle. The first thing I can think of for users is maybe Archeops liking this item as a lead, given its excellent Atk and solid SpA

I subbed the Heavy Net, so it might be my bias talking, but slapping this onto any of your slower walls turns them into some solid momentum disruptors. Has the same issue of being vulnerable to bicycle shenanigans, although that really depends on if its pivot blocking goes before the item stealing.

Rain Jacket seems cool on paper, but struggles from a lack of actually viable users. Obviously rain setters want to hold this item, however taking into account what mons actually get drizzle, the special defense buff goes unappreciated by most. It doesn’t patch up Politoed’s biggest issue of being passive as hell, Pelipper still hates rocks and probably prefers HDB, which only leaves Kyogre, who would seemingly like this but is banished the to the Ubers dimension.

I don’t have too much time to continue on so I’ll wrap things up here for now. Maybe I’ll analyze a few more new items in another post.
