No I get that, but since you need to make a play that covers both tera ghost is no good.

Inevitably as the foongus player you gotta spam giga drain right away and hope you deal enough damage against goth while it sets up, when goth is on the last sub you can tera steel to break it too, and then you need one prio.
You might need double prio or to tera steel something else that can pivot out of the trap, but either way you don't force yourself to run an unviable foongus tera, or even worse to pop said tera making your situation even worse

Salac goth works off of the back of regular scarf goth already being oppressive
I can understand the technical reason for running tera ghost, but it's an unacceptable compromise as it worsens your match up vs scarf goth

I don’t think scarf and subsalac have anything to do with each other at all. Subcm works by trapping foongus and using it to Tera and set up. I don’t think that has anything to do with scarf goth or your opp expecting scarf. Tera ghost lets you switch out before goth turns you into set up fodder and maxes its stats. Tera ghost synthesis into switch covers both scarf and Tera steel subcm

Tera ghost vs scarf is a losing play though, its a pure waste but necessary to avoid a potential instant loss to the other less common less consistent less good set.
Being threatening is not the same as being good and there is an imbalance

I mean maybe you can afford to wait one turn to see if goth tera steels or not before you tera ghost, but even then that's three free turns to goth already. You made your foongus useless, you'll still lose minimum one extra mon, and foongus would like to run a better tera in other match ups.
That's essentially foongus lost, and definitely one mon and tera lost. In exchange for one goth and one tera

The least resource intense option to punish it is trying to abuse that salac goth needs to get itself to low hp before killing anyone but foongus if it wants to get max value. It's not the best option either since foos fake out is weak and sucker is inconsistent. It's hard to fit multiple sucker mons as well, and idt this is the meta to run timburr or such
