This is a team I plan to use in next year’s Pokémon Video Game World Championships, if Australia is finally allowed to participate.
The championship battles will be in doubles format, and each player will use 4 Pokémon in a battle, but are allowed to take 6 to the tournament. Pokémon of any level will be allowed, but those above level 50 will have their levels dropped to level 50 for each battle, just like in the Battle Subway. Also, Team Preview will be used, which my team takes maximum advantage of.
Once again (this is getting very old), if it’s revealed that Australia will once again not be part of the “World” Championships, then please lock or delete this thread.
Reuniclus @ Mental Herb
Ability: Magic Guard
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 HP / 132 Def / 124 Sp.Def
- Protect
- Trick Room
- Psyshock
- Energy Ball
Primary Trick Roomer, initially partnered with Togekiss. Start with Trick Room, while Togekiss lures Taunts away with Follow Me. Mental Herb is for Pranksters with Taunt, like Whimsicott and the three genies. Psyshock for STAB and versatility, Energy Ball to hit water-types and Tyranitar. Protect will be used primarily against Taunt + Fake Out leads who ruin the Mental Herb protection.
Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 Sp.Def
- Follow Me
- Air Slash
- Aura Sphere
- Protect
Supporting Follow Me wall, initially paired with Reuniclus. Follow Me to lure dangerous moves away, most importantly Taunt. Air Slash for STAB, and to try and disable threats with Serene Grace. Aura Sphere for coverage, and to stop Sandstorm teams, and more importantly, MOODY USERS, because Moody is not banned in this tournament! EVs to be as bulky as possible, balanced in both stats, as it is a Follow Me wall first and foremost.
Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
Nature: Quiet
EVs: 252 Sp.Atk / 128 Def / 128 Sp.Def
- Trick Room
- Tri Attack
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
Secondary Trick Roomer. Tri Attack for STAB, Ice Beam to eliminate Gliscor and Landorus. Thunderbolt to handle the water-types of rain teams. EVs to make Pory2 as hard a hitter as possible, and then to take maximum advantage of Eviolite.
I’m considering giving Pory2 Protect and/or Recover, but can't decide what to forsake. What do you suggest?
Shedinja @ Focus Sash
Ability: Wonder Guard
Nature: Brave
EVs: 255 Attack / 255 Sp.Def
- X-Scissor
- Shadow Sneak
- Protect
- Sunny Day
Physical tank, which can switch in on various dangerous attacks to completely nullify them. X-Scissor and Shadow Sneak for STAB. Protect to scout, and to allow the partner to more easily eliminate a threat.
Sunny Day to weaken rain teams and end Hail and Sandstorm. Since Shedinja would faint if it switched in during Sandstorm or Hail, it can only come in after another Pokemon has fainted.
Special Defence EVs to be maxed because all Download users are special attackers, and the investment will more likely rob them of their Special Attack boost.
Politoed @ Wacan Berry
Ability: Drizzle
Nature: Quiet
EVs: 252 Special Attack / 252 HP / 4 Def
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Protect
- Mud Bomb
Sunny Day counter. Shedinja nerfs all other forms of weather with Sunny Day, but Politoed is specifically designed to stop Sun teams that may take advantage. Hydro Pump for STAB, and to stop its rival Ninetales, as with any other Fire-types. Ice Beam stops grass-type Chlorophyll users like Sawsbuck, and fliers with Hurricane like Dragonite and Thunderus. Mud Bomb stops Electric-types with Thunder like Jolteon. Protect to scout the opponent’s moves, making prediction a little easier. With Solarbeam nerfed by the rain, Wacan Berry is used to better handle Pokemon with Electric attacks, especially since the Follow Me wall is Electric-weak.
Flareon @ Passho Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
Nature: Quiet
EVs: 252 Special Attack / 252 Def / 4 HP
- Heat Wave
- Shadow Ball
- Protect
- Helping Hand
Hail counter, because we have little else to handle Hail teams. Works best with Shedinja, who nerfs the opponent’s Hail with Sunny Day. Heat Wave for STAB, type advantages and its ability to hit both opponents, and to stop Scizor if it ever appears. Shadow Ball for power, and to stop the occasional Ghost, especially Jellicent. Protect to scout, especially against water-types, who the partner can take out in that turn. Where safe, Helping Hand could also be used to help take out threats. Passho Berry to better handle water attacks.
C&C more than welcome. Tournament or not, I have plenty of time to prepare and refine.
Anyone who says “Do not use Shedinja” will be ignored. I WANT to use Shedinja!
