Trick Room Slowking Set.

Do you think this set would work on a Trick Room team? I'm considering breeding it for a potential trade thread, would people dig this?

Slowking
Quiet
IV's (pending): 25+/X/25+/30/31/3
Moveset (pending):
~Surf
~HP Electric
~Nasty Plot/Trick Room (if necessary)
~Slack Off

Advice/Thoughts/Critiques? Please.

Well unless it's Spec'd, its not going to be doing fat damage so theres really no point in throwing it in a TR team because its slow.

IMO, a bulky water on a Trick Room team is generally used for Spinning, but I think it's a great replacement for Wish Hypno, which is impossible to get legit.

My 2 cents.

Well, in Trick Room you only have 5 turns, so there are usually better things to do than stat-up during it, and stronger things to use than Slowking.

Well, it's speed is useless anyway, so should I keep it as Quiet or breed a Modest one? And/Or I could breed a Calm/Sassy one as a nice Special Wall. What should I do?

Slowking's real merit (IMHO) is in its defenses, and the Special Defense in particular. But it has both a Grass and Electric weakness which doesn't really fly super-well as a special wall, so if you kept a Quiet/Modest nature and just EV'd it semi-Bulky, that would probably be the best niche for it. Though is depends on your team and -cliche'd stuff-

Yes, RyouChan, that's what I was thinking I should do. I want to do Quiet because it's not going to outspeed anything with Modest. Then I would probably max (or nearly max) its SpAtk and split the rest between HP and SpDef. How about that?

If you were looking to only optimize special defense and not worrying about physical defense, 252 Sp.Def / 4 HP would be more effective. If you worry about his physical defense, you'll need to put some in that as well as HP. There's a good app for figuring out defensive EVs here.

So, should I bother with Quiet? In terms of a trade thread people might question that. I'd probably say it works as a Trick Room poke, but does that justify it being Quiet? Attack serves no purpose, so Modest might seem better to some. Really I don't think it should matter.

Some people have a soft spot for Trick Room things, but most people want what the Analysis says or whatever everyone else is using.

Not many people are using it, that's why I'm breeding it. Thanks for your help. Worst case scenario I breed a great Quiet one, it gets complained about, and I change it to Modest with AR, right? lolz, jk, I don't have an AR. If anyone else has any thoughts I'd love to hear them!

Most Trick Room Pokes need Trick Room themselves, so keep that on it. I'd say go for a Bold nature, since you'll get the biggest boost out of that (IIRC), and give EVs to Hp, De, and Sa. TRing statters aren't always practical, so drop NP. Make it more of a Bronzong-ish Poke; speed lower than *insert joke here*, and enough offense to sweep. Slowbro can do bulky sweeper insteado of all-out tank.

As for the IVs, don't force yourself into Hidden Power if you haven't bred that move yet. Instead, just use the two slots for Stab, counter moves, or an Ice/Grass or Water/Ice combination of moves.

Thanks kamikaen. I have indeed never bred for Hidden Power. Now's a good time to learn though, so I'll see what happens. Plus I'll probably encounter some excellent IV's along the way, so there's a nice fallback. Also this is for Slowking, not Slowbro, but I can offer a Slowbro as well. I may offer multiple sets for the same pokemon.

I think Quiet would work just fine for Slowking. With 30 speed, the only thing I can think of that it has to race with is Snorlax. I personally would rather trade for a -speed one since it could then be used in Trick Room to even greater effect.

I really think Slowbro is better at it. It's perfet for taking on Taunt Gyarados, the biggest thread to TR teams.

Slowking should be used as a Lucario/Infernape counter, mostly against special variants, so unless you have a problem with those or using Nasty Plot, you're better off with those. If Slowking is on a Trick Room team then he should be using Trick Room.

I think the advantage in using Slowking is that he's in a lower tier (last I checked it looked like BL). So that's why I want to breed one instead of Slowbro, who's in OU, as we all know. Thanks for your input! Also in terms of a thread I want it to be able to use either Nasty Plot or Trick Room, so I'll probably have multiple sets for whoever wants them when it's EV trained.
