Tricked (and not Trick Room)

Hey this is my first post/RMT so if I do something wro ng PLEASE tell me I don’t want to look like a retard. I would like to post a build that has done pretty well at local VGC tournaments in the Oregon region of the globe and I would like to make it better. The build is………

REGIGIGAS
The team is simple, get sun out with DW Ninetails, use Entrainment on Regigigas from Lilligant, and sweep. I’ve only had problems with Trick Room and weathers other than Sun.

The team…

Daddy (Regigigas) @ Big Root
EVs: 252 Atk; 252 Spd; 4 Hp
-Drain Punch
-Crush Grip
-Zen Headbutt
-Rock Slide
The abuser of the team, Daddy hits like a truck as soon as he hits the field thanks to Lilligant. His item allows him to heal himself as he rolls across teams. Rock Slide helps get double KO’s and Zen Headbutt hits Ghosts.

Aide (Lilligant) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Chlorophyll (more like chlololphyll)
EVs: 252 Spd; 252 Sp. Atk; 4 Hp
- Entrainment
- Helping Hand
- Solarbeam
- Energy Ball
The well, aide of the team, Aide helps by entraining Daddy so he goes and wrecks things. Aide’s item ensures that she lives to use Entrainment, but after that she is easily expendable for another party member.

Silver (Ninetails) @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 Sp.Atk; 252 Spd; 4 Hp
- Solarbeam
- HP Ground
- Flamethrower
- Sunny Day
The glamorous Drought user, Silver brings the sun via her ability and attempts to make Daddy hit the ground running Turn 2. If the impossible should happen and Daddy does die (mainly from getting focused down by 2 strong Pokémon) Silver can attempt to pull some weight.

Archeops @ Flying Gem
EVs 252 Atk; 252 Spd; 4 HP
- Dragon Claw
- Shadow Claw
- Acrobatics
- Earthquake
The Bonnie to Daddy’s Clyde, after Aide gets KO’d, he comes in and helps to finish off anything Daddy doesn’t OHKO. He’s squishy, but seeing a Chlorophyll Regigigas facerolling things helps keep the attention off Archeops.

Griever (Garchomp) @ Dragon Gem
Nature:Adamant
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 Atk; 252 Spd; 4 Hp
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Protect

Magnezone @ Air Balloon
Modest
Sturdy
252 Sp. Atk; 252 HP; 4 Def
- Thunderbolt
- Protect
- Thunder Wave
- HP Ice

Untested, mainly used to make the opponent go WTF?! Don’t know how good these guys are exactly in the team, but they make opponents wonder what I’m doing.

Howdy. Keep in mind that RMT self bumps should only really be done if your threads been unresponsive after a day.

From a glance... I think you need to work on your basics. Complicated set ups like what you're trying to accomplish don't flourish without a good deal of defensive synergy between your two Pokemon. Lilligant and Regigigas have a very poor array of resistances between them and average bulk at best. There's very little stopping a standard Latios + Hitmontop core stomping Lilligant out turn 1. Additionally, your team lacks any sort of Water-type resistance beyond Ninetail's sun meaning a rain team can plow right through you with repeated surfs. On top of all this, your team lacks basic offensive and defensive synergy between its members beyond your set up and lacks several staples of doubles play like the all important Protect without any explanation for their absence.

I would recommend enrolling in Battling 101's VGC program when the new rule set is announced and new tutoring rounds begin. Although the rule set will likely vary heavily from what we have now, many of the underlying concepts you would learn would carry over to all sorts of doubles rule sets.

Hi!

First off, I'd like to comment that your Pokemon description are'nt very detailed, and leave much to be desired. It's hard to rate when you don't provide detailed enough explanations of how to deal with common threats. Well from what I can gather, here are my recommendations:

With Regigigas, a set that I find more effective is this one:

486.gif

Regigigas - 112 HP/252 Atk/92 Def/52 SpDef
Ability: Slow Start
Nature: Adamant
Item: Normal Gem

~Ice Punch
~Crush Grip
~Rock Slide
~Wide Guard/Thunder Wave

The purpose of this set is to use Regigigas' movepool to it's advantage. Ice Punch is guaranteed to OHKO non-Yache Berry Hydreigon, Garchomp, and Latios. Plus your opponent will not expect it. Crush Grip shall be it's STAB move, hitting almost anything for massive damage, and that normal gem, and STABB will sentence anything that does'nt resist or have a sash to death. (Except maybe 252 HP/252 Def Cress) Rock Slide is good for hitting both Pokemon, possibly causing a flinch against those slower mons, and giving some type coverage. The final move can work either way. If you have a Pokemon that could possibly draw attention away from Regigigas it can set up Thunder Wave to cripple it, outspeed it, and potentially sweep it. Wide Guard is great because Regi can't learn Protect, and spread moves are very common in VGC.

As it's partner:

Whimsicott - 252 Speed
Ability: Prankster
Nature: Hasty
Item: Focus Sash

~Worry Seed
~Endeavor
~Tailwind
~Protect

Pretty much running FEAR, and serving as an appropriate partner for Regigigas. It's meant to be as frail as possible, so Endeavor will work good, and Regigigas can step in with Rock Slide. Worry Seed is to eliminate Slow Start. And Tailwind is to give some extra Speed support to your team, which seems to almost crave it. Protect can make your opponent waste a turn/scout for a priority move such as Bullet Punch Metagross.

Archeops does'nt make sense.

Archeops - 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Speed
Ability: Defeatist
Nature: Jolly
Item: Flying Gem

~Rock Slide
~Acrobatics
~Earthquake
~Protect

Another Pokemon that can be used in conjunction with Worry Seed, if Archeops survives something, the insomnia ability will really come in handy. Well this set is standard damage aside from that.

With Garchomp switch Protect with Substitute.

Replace Magnezone with another electric type such as Thundurus, or Zapdos, it's just does'nt hold a candle to those two.

I would recommend enrolling in Battling 101's VGC program when the new rule set is announced and new tutoring rounds begin.

^ Agreed.

alright thanks guys I thought I screwed something up naturally being my first post here. I'll take a look at the Tutoring program. Thanks though.

wait when is the new round starting I couldn't find it

I have been talking to my local judges in RL tourney and it's basically the same, it's just now letting you use B2/W2 moves/abilities

Judges have been wrong in the past, so we'll be waiting for official confirmation from TPCi before making any announcements. There's still three months to go until the next regionals, no need to rush.
