Trying to settle

Hello, all. Recently I've been trying to build a team that I can use for a long time, to save me the hassle of constantly building and modifying teams. The prototype was good, but I wanted it a lot better. I need your help.

212.png

Scizor @ Leftovers
Technician
252 HP / 120 Atk / 136 SDef
Adamant
- Roost
- X Scissor
- Pursuit
- Light Screen / Quick Attack / Brick Break

Porygon2 used to be here, but Scizor worked for me more consistently. Light Screen is what I run currently, but Quick Attack might be nice, and Brick Break offers coverage against Steels who render Scizor useless otherwise.

Machamp @ Leftovers
Guts
252 HP / 56 Atk / 64 Def / 136 SDef
Adamant
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Cross Chop
- Stone Edge / Ice Punch

An incredibly strong Pokemon, but so far it hasn't been living up to its potential in my team. May be replaced by a Heatran/Gengar counter.

251xg2.png

Celebi @ Leftovers
Natural Cure
252 HP / 156 Def / 16 SpA / 60 SDef / 24 Spe
Bold
- Reflect
- Recover
- Grass Knot
- HP Fire

An incredible little guy. My answer to Gyarados and Breloom, and takes some Physical Lucario well.

130rt4.png

Gyarados @ Life Orb
Intimidate
120 HP / 164 Atk / 36 Def / 188 Spd
Adamant
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge

Straightforward BulkyGyara. Its performance lately has been just like Machamp's; sort of not been able to sweep up to par, but has been decent enough to stay on the team. Not throwing out the possibility of adding a Gar/Tran counter over it, though.

Bronzong @ Leftovers
Levitate
252 HP / 88 Def / 4 Spe / 24 SpA / 142 SDef
Calm
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- HP Fire
- Charge Beam

This Bronzong may seem odd, but it has been working reasonably. HP Fire hits steels, and Charge Beam hits Starmie. 4 Speed EVs outspeed other Bronzong, as I am not running Gyro Ball.

Garchomp @ Leftovers
Sand Veil
252 HP / 176 Def / 64 Spd / 16 SDef
Jolly
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Swords Dance
- Dragon Claw

Sort of the centerpiece of the team. Sort of. There was a big argument on Serebii Forums about this being any good or not, so I decided to test it for myself. This thing is so good, it turned a 1-6 into a 1-0 in my battle against Setrack. May I also request that nobody shun Rest Talk Chomp's usage here; commenting on it in the team, etc is fine, but I would like to avoid what happened at SPPF.

Problems

Gengar: I have no real Gar counter, though Scizor and Bronzong do well against it.

Heatran: An incredibly big weak, and Machamp is the only one that has a remote chance of beating it. Porygon2 used to be my lead over Scizor, so I need suggstions.

Thanks.

I see somewhat of a SD Lucario and Heracross problem. You also have a Gengar problem, so why not add Calm RestTalk Zapdos over Gyarados? Heatran is obviously a huge problem, so I suggest using Vaporeon over Celebi. Breloom is covered by Zapdos.

Your EVs are very strange. I suggest Expert Belt Scizor with 176 HP / 100 Atk / 176 SpD / 56 Spe over yours. You can also try 216 HP/176 SpDef/136 Atk instead. Machamp dosen't really need that SpDef; I'd use 252 HP/208 Def/48 Atk instead. Garchomp dosen't seem like it's going to need that Defence since most Pokemon run Ice Beam, so why not put that Defence in Special Defence?

P.S. Where'd you get the pictures?

Pictures courtesy of Blue Ace from Serebii Forums, except the first two. Those Scizor EVs are for Ubers. I will edit Machamp's EVs, and will definitely try out Zapdos.

Thank you.

Even though those EVs for Scizor are for Ubers, they do good stuff against things like Gengar too. But it's your choice...

Seems solid enough. Those Def ev's definitely want to be in spcdef on Garchomp. Seems like a rather gimmicky set to me but to each their own.

Like those last 4 pics.

Edit: Looks like Waffles got to it first =D

The guy who made those pictures is a great battler as well, so its sort of a double threat. :)

Will consider EV change in Scizor and Machamp. Testing Zapdos, but I still need a Heatran counter.

I honestly don't see Garchomp as a Sleep Talker. It's better off doing what it does best, which is a Choice Scarf/Yache Berry, but if you want it to Sleep Talk, then let it Sleep Talk. I think the you could take Gengar somewhat better with Light Screen on Scizor, attach a Expert Belt on him, at try to lock in Gengar, but it's not the best way to deal with it. Blissey is a great counter to Gengar, and can handle Heatran if there is no Explosion. I would much rather lead with Gyarados, since it's classic, but still good lead.

Here is the the standard blissey set:

Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 64 SpAtk / 192 SDef
Nature: Calm
- Softboiled
- Thunder Wave / Sing
- Ice Beam
- Seismic Toss

Pretty much what Wayff said, hope I helped.

Ok I don't get some of your sets. For example, you have Charge Beam to hit Starmie, when you can Pursuit it with Scizor. You say you have a Gengar weak, when all you have to do is run Gyro Ball over Charge Beam on Bronzong. You can also Pursuit a ScarfGar with Scizor. I don't think the weakness is as bad as others have made it out. Charge Beam should only be for Gyarados, but you have Celebi for that. Also, HP Fire is a bad option IMO for Bronzong. Most Steels barring Forretress have a recovery move, and will simply heal off the HP Fire, as it doesn't do much to begin with. Heatran is usually the first switch to Bronzong, and you definately don't want to give it a boost. I say run either Earthquake or Hypnosis in that slot. Preferably Earthquake, considering that it hits the incoming Fire types that can give you trouble (You have a fairly large weakness to fire types).

You have way too many RestTalkers on this team, and with the constant switching you will have to do, that sleep will definately cost you at some point or another. Since Bronzong is necessary to counter Gengar, and you do not want to change Garchomp, I suggest replacing Machamp with Gliscor. Takes care of SDLucario, Heracross, and Garchomp all in one basically. Run Earthquake, Ice Fang, Roost, and either Swords Dance/Stealth Rock to either keep the offensive flow going or get the rocks up.

Heatran as mentioned is a large problem. I suggest running your own Heatran with a Choice Scarf, considering this team is extremely slow. Gyarados seem's out of place here, so you might as well replace it for instant-speed. You can run Fire Blast, Earth Power, HP Ice, and Explosion as the set.

I like the Garchomp coverage this team has. You have the three steels to absorb Outrages, and also Heatran to revenge kill YacheChomps, provided something like Gliscor removes the Yache with Ice Fang.

Some minor tweaks on EV's. For Celebi, run 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 Speed. For Bronzong, change the Sp.Att EV's into Att. Also, switch the defensive EV's on Garchomp into Sp.Def. As others mentioned, you want to take Ice Beams rather than Ice Shards because you have all Ice Sharder's covered with Bronzong.

Good luck, hope I helped.

You helped too much, and it means a lot coming from a battler like you. I will actually understand your post tomorrow as where I am right now it's midnight, and my brain isn't really registering anything atm.

Appreciate it, though.

Ok. before I edit the first post, I'd like to get an opinion. I'm thinking of these changes.
1) Bronzong becomes Physical.
2) Heatran > Gyarados
3) Gliscor > Machamp

Some approvals would be nice
