Turn around... [OU RMT]

hello readers.
I would at first like to say I am a complete beginner, and very new to competitive pokemon.
This is actually my first team and started it around scizor and gyarados, as those are 2 of my most favorite pokemon and they were in the OU tier.

at a glance:

I'm aware it might look pretty strange, but it worked out pretty well for me so far, had a lot of people ragequit after my Infernape fainted their Tyranitar.
As well as my skarmory fainting their Machamp or other fighting types.
Ok, on to the building part.

1: I decided to start of with a nice scizor, for a some scouting with U-turn and using bullet punch against meanies.

2: Now I decide to take a nice switch in if the enemy decides to switch to something fiery, and strong to other things as well. Gyarados!

3: And here is the point I realised I needed someone with SR, nice defence and a forced switch move, Hippowdon seemed to fit.

4: From this point I wanted a little more support to my team, so I decided to take blissey, to get rid of all those nasty status effects and she was also to be a nice special wall.

5: The next thing I faced were some T-tars, and I thought: why not use a nice pokemon with fighting moves. I also wanted some fire, so Infernape was the choice.

6: So now all I needed was one last pokemon, I had no real counter to the bulky waters so I thought of Jolteon.

Now when I tried a few battles I didn't really like the Jolt, it was fast for sure, but I didn't seem to get around some bulky pokemon I can't remember, this was the time someone adviced me to take a spiker. This is where skarmory comes in.

So now that I've made myself a team, lets go to the rating.

scizor.png

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP/252 Atk/8 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit
As I really wanted a Scizor, this one was a nice choice. Adamant for extra
attack, technician for the boost on bullet punch, Choice band for the extra
attack, and with U-turn you wont notice the downside.
U-turn is the crux for me, as it allows scouting and has STAB bonus.
A second use of this Scizor is revenge killing, or countering, as it has a lot of resistances.

hippowdon.png

Hippowdon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP/168 Def/88 SDef
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Slack Off
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
A Hippowdon for using SR, Walling, and forcing switches with roar.
Slack off gives it recovery while stealth rock and roar are a brilliant combination to force switches and therefore give out indirect damage.
When I've got spikes (Skarmory) and SR up Roar works quite well.
Earthquake is there for when some bulky things show up.

*-----------------------------*

gyarados.png

Gyarados (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
A dragon dance Gyarados, once it has set up DD it can easily switch in to sweep or for revenge killing, goes well with the Scizor.
U-turn on scizor and then gyarados, for when they want to try to get a fire type in. Waterfall gets STAB and EQ goes well for non-levitate foes.
I try to set up DD early in the game, after SR and spikes, so its easier to use for revenge killing and sweeping.

*-----------------------------*

blissey.png

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Aromatherapy
- Softboiled
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder wave
For this Blissey I didn't take the wall set, but the cleric set, as I wanted her to be able to get rid of status problems. She still does quite well as special wall too, with softboiled and her bulk. The thunder wave is to spread paralysis and maybe force some switch, which is usefull with SR and Spikes up.

*-----------------------------*

infernape.png

Infernape (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk/192 Spd/64 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Grass Knot
- Overheat
Physically-based MixApe with some little tweaks. I decided to take Grass Knot to be able to do a little something if a waterthingy comes in, Infernape isn't one of the main assets to the team so he can be used to sacrifice.

*-----------------------------*

skarmory.png

Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 HP/64 Atk/176 Def/16 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
Smogons spiker setup for it, with one change. I wanted it to be able to poison stuff, for even more indirect damage. It was a difficult decision, but finally I took whirlwind out, as I also have roar on my Hippowdon. I changed whirlwind with toxic, which helped out great at some walls.

*-----------------------------*

Rate my team please, every bit of advice is welcome as I'm very new to smogon and competitive battling.
Thanks in advance,

Puurkool

Your descriptions for Gyarados, Scizor and Hippowdon are lacking. Expand them or I'll have to lock this thread.

First off, get a new lead. CB Scizor is NOT going to work at all. Against most leads they are going to set up Stealth Rock anyway, and if you choose to Bullet Punch, its a free switch to them, possibly a Magnezone/Skarmory getting a free kill/layer of spikes! Something similar like a Choice Scarf Jirachi can work. It can help revenge pokemon such as Gyarados/Salamence after a Dragon Dance, as well as being able to scout with U-Turn, and flinch out non resisting pokemon with Iron Head. Not to mention flinching out leads like Aerodactyl or Azelf who try to set up rocks straight off the block, although U-Turn can be used to pass to anything else.

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Jolly - Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Moves:
~Thunder Punch
~Ice Punch
~U-Turn
~Iron Head

I don't think you gave this team much thought. Not only do you not block SR with either Taunt or Rapid Spin, but you have TWO Life Orb Sweepers, both of which are affected by Sand Stream, and one is even weak to Stealth Rock! Basically Gyarados and Infernape need to be changed completely, running an LO Sweeper with a Sand Stream user is just a pathetic idea, and you are only crippling your team.

Replace Gyarados for the standard BulkyDragon Dance set, that is:

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Adamant - Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP / 72 Atk / 96 Def / 184 Spe
Moves:
~ Dragon Dance
~ Taunt
~ Waterfall
~ Stone Edge / Bounce*

*Bounce is a pretty neat choice, so your non leftovers opponents get hit by an extra turn of Sand Storm.

You would also want to reconsider Infernape, as mentioned above. 12% from SR [lets not forget U-Turn!!], and each attack he will be taking 16% damage, just from LO recoil and Sand Stream! As you do have Paralysis Support from Blissey, you can easily run a LO Metagross set for a late game sweep. However since you do lack a Special Sweeper, a Sub Heatran could work. With Spikes/Stealth Rock/Sand Stream he can even stall with just Substitute! However a more offensive approach would be better since you lack Toxic Spikes. Try this Heatran set over Infernape.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Timid- Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Moves:
~ Fire Blast
~ Earth Power
~ Substitute
~ Toxic
