This show does take a few episodes to get going and really get good, but stick with it, and it will be well worth the watch. I'm usually not into romance shows/films and mainly started this because I thought it would have more fantasy elements, but it has surprisingly held my attention and is quite good once it gets going. Film:
The Wonder
Genre: Drama, Mystery, Thriller

She's been sent to keep watch on a young girl who is reported to have not eaten in months, yet is inexplicably healthy and sound-of-mind. Solving the mystery is made more difficult by frequent visitors and the girl's day-to-day routine but Lib (Florence) is determined to see the assignment through.

A very unique blend of period piece and mystery, and an ominous tone set by clever pacing and a soundtrack that keeps the viewers on edge. Definitely one of Netflix's stronger releases in recent years.

This show is based on a manga and also has a 3 episode anime. Has a ton of anime tropes if you arent in to that kind of thing, but the ending to the season 2 is something i absolutely loved. Really recommend this if you're into the "death games" thing. Cant wait for season 3?

Film:
M3GAN
Genre: Horror, Sci-Fi, Thriller
Description: Gemma is a robotics engineer who reluctantly becomes caretaker to her orphaned niece Cady after a car accident claims her parents. After a rough and awkward adjustment period to living together, Cady takes a liking to M3GAN, a lifelike prototype doll that syncs with its primary child companion and learns how to bond better through repeated interactions over time. Soon thereafter, M3GAN exhibits unpredictable behaviour and Cady becomes overly attached, leading to problems for the new family on multiple levels.

The film plays out similarly to a Black Mirror episode, for those familiar with the show. And if you're not familiar, please consider this a double recommendation as you should definitely pick that series up as well (but for your benefit, skip episode 1 and come back to it after watching several other episodes first - you'll understand why later). It juggles the 3 listed genres, focusing on some moreso than others in certain acts, but I would also consider the film to be a comedy at times and, let's be honest, documentary at most. I would also recommend watching the movie as a group if possible - it's always fun to get multiple perspectives on a unique film like this afterwards.
