Type: Null's great bulk, which is further bolstered by Eviolite, and access to U-turn make it an incredible pivot able to switch into some of the premier special threats in the tier, like Mr. Rime and Lilligant. U-turn allows Type: Null to pivot out of unfavourable matchups, and, thanks to its low Speed, allows a teammate to get in safely. While Toxic allows Type: Null to cripple Pokemon that try to take advantage of it like Crustle, Stunfisk, and Gourgeist, Crush Claw provides Type: Null with a STAB move that makes it considerably less passive and allows it to beat threats it otherwise wouldn't beat, like Calm Mind Galarian Rapidash. Rest allows it to stay healthy throughout the game and act as a status absorber, while Sleep Talk prevents it from being overly passive when sleeping. Shadow Claw is an option over Toxic or Sleep Talk, as it allows Type: Null to beat Substitute Calm Mind Drifblim.
Answers to Fighting-types, like Drifblim, Mareanie, and Gourgeist-XL are vital partners, as they can switch into threats like Throh, Falinks, and Hitmonchan Type: Null struggles against. Drifblim also gets rid of entry hazards, which Type: Null greatly appreciates due to its lack of passive recovery, while Mareanie sets Toxic Spikes. In exchange, Type: Null acts as a reliable switchin to Pokemon they're threatened by, like Appletun, Beheeyem, Mr. Rime. Knock Off absorbers, along with Pokemon that can switch into Trick and Switcheroo, are appreciated since Type: Null needs its item to do its job reliably. Pokemon holding a Rocky Helmet, such as Stunfisk and Sandslash make for great options; they can also switch into threats like Lycanroc-M and Shift Gear Klinklang that threaten Type: Null, while they appreciate the latter's ability to switch into Ice-, Grass-, and Water-types. Teammates like Unfezant and Gourgeist holding a Choice item also work, as they can switch into Pokemon with Trick and Switcheroo like Choice Scarf Galarian Mr. Mime and Manectric. Gourgeist can also cripple Pokemon like Calm Mind Musharna and Cosmic Power Gothitelle Type: Null struggles against with Trick. Strong physical attackers like Swords Dance Drednaw and Choice Band Gourgeist-XL can easily overwhelm Type: Null; this makes answers to these, like Tangela and itemless Appletun. They all appreciate Type: Null dealing with special attackers such as Lilligant they struggle against, while they can aid Type: Null in checking Electric-types. Frailer or slower threats appreciate Type: Null bringing them in safely against Pokemon like Dusknoir, Klinklang, and Stunfisk via U-turn. Choice Band Morkepo, Flame Orb Throh, and Beheeyem are prime examples, with the former being able to deal with Substitute Calm Mind Drifblim, while the latter also acts as an answer to Fighting-types.
