TyraniBoah Question

ive thought about it but eh

anyway the purpose of boah is to counter stall teams, which are now largely populated with hippowdon and gliscor with a few donphan thrown in

skarmory has never been a tyranitar counter — when they both came on the scene in GSC tyranitar commonly carried fire blast just for it. in advance skarmory was facing one of three variants: the quintessential tyranitar in 2004, who had taunt and didn't need a special attack, boah in ~2005, who carried TB, or CB tyranitar, who became popular in 2006 and did ~43% to Skarmory with Rock Slide and was actually faster. in 2007 Tyranitar got Stone Edge which is even worse for Skarmory, who can often be 2HKOed with a CBed Stone Edge, you get the idea

forry and bronzong may do better against the new standard than they would if fire blast were the non-STABbed special move of choice, but keep in mind that both hippowdon and gliscor have instant recovery moves that can actually allow them to wall tyranitar's dark pulses and recover the hp. forry and bronzong don't have that luxury

Pulse > Ice Beam for Starmie I think (and stab), Ice beam > Pulse for Giscor, Tangrowth, Donphan and the Dragons, and Fire Blast > Something for Forretress and Bronzong (and Scizor I guess). I think that's about right.

You guys can stop spamming this thread by beating that dead horse over and over again. I thought that joke was pretty funny when I first made it but KKM's "Boah serebii spam" was enough to make it unfunny.

I'd take Ice Beam simply because Hippowdon and Breloom are everywhere. I wondered the same thing about Crunch the other day but while you win in raw direct power against things you want to face, Ice Beam is better against things that will be switching in against you.
