Tyranitar and Heracross --- No Big! [Warstory In Here]

So I've been trying out Shoddy Battle the last week, having fun trying different pokemon, losing a lot but winning some. I had a really good battle where someone rocked my team with achoice scarf ice punch jynx and I loved getting the reaction from people when I would go first and one hit ko Magmortar with my choice scarf brave bird skarmory. However, this battle contains neither Jynx nor skarmory.

The Rules:

  • Wi-Fi set to level 100.
  • Species clause, Sleep clause, and Item clause.
  • No ubers.
  • Evasion ban
I'm not sure but I'm assuming these are the rules. We followed them nonetheless.

6-6
I send out Jumpluff, he sends out Ninjask. This spells trouble for me because I know Ninjask is faster, so I can't use Sleep Powder right away. However, Ninjask is almost as predictable as Jumpluff. So he uses three substitutes and I use three Aerial Aces breaking his substitute each time. Here's the log after the final round of this.
Ninjask used Substitute.
Ninjask lost 25% of its health.
Ninjask made a substitute!
Jumpluff used Aerial Ace.
It's super effective!
The substitute took damage for Ninjask!
Ninjask's substitute faded!
Ninjask's Liechi Berry raised its attack!
Ninjask's Speed Boost raised its speed!
Ninjask's speed was raised.

So he was sitting as 25% health with three speed boosts and one leichi berry raised attack stat. I knew he couldn't substitute next turn so I figured I'd sleep whatever was going to be at the receiving end of all those stat ups.

Ninjask used X-Scissor.
Jumpluff lost 64% of its health.
Jumpluff used Sleep Powder.
Jumpluff's attack missed!
Jumpluff's leftovers restored its health a little!
Jumpluff restored 6% of its health.
Ninjask's Speed Boost raised its speed!
Ninjask's speed was raised.

Turns out I was wrong and I received damage and Sleep Powder missed. I wasn't about to lose my Jumpluff just yet.

Zangeese switched in Shedinja.
Ninjask used X-Scissor.
It doesn't affect Shedinja...
Ninjask's Speed Boost raised its speed!
Ninjask's speed was raised.

That's right. X-Scissor doesn't affect your dead brother. However, the family feud would not last long.

Ninjask used Baton Pass.
XxAxX switched in Garchomp.
Shedinja used Toxic.
Shedinja's attack missed!

I am really having bad luck statusing pokemon today with both Toxic and Sleep Powder missing. Oh Well, my Shedinja is not afraid of a +4 Speed Garchomp with +1.5 Attack or however much Leichi Berry raised his speed by.

Garchomp used Fire Fang.
It's super effective!
Shedinja lost 89500% of its health.
Shedinja hung on using its Focus Sash!
Shedinja used Will-o-wisp.
Garchomp was burned!
Garchomp was hurt by its burn!
Garchomp lost 12% of its health.

Ouch! 89500% has got to hurt! But finally a status attack of mine connected!

Shedinja used Shadow Sneak.
Garchomp lost 15% of its health.
Garchomp used Fire Fang.
It's super effective!
A critical hit!
Shedinja lost 82000% of its health.
Zangeese's Shedinja fainted.
Garchomp was hurt by its burn!
Garchomp lost 12% of its health.

He may have +4 speed that's probably like 900 something or now but my Shadow Sneak still connects for the big 12% damage! No other pokemon of mine would probably have survived that attack anyway.

6-5 (Away Team advantage)

Zangeese switched in Gliscor.
Garchomp used Dragon Claw.
Gliscor lost 18% of its health.
Gliscor used Earthquake.
Garchomp lost 35% of its health.
Garchomp was hurt by its burn!
Garchomp lost 12% of its health.

Or would they? I switch in Gliscor and I'm glad that Will-o-Wisp connected.

XxAxX switched in Magnezone.
Gliscor used Swords Dance.
Gliscor's attack was sharply raised.

I know I can safely risk a swords dance here because he won't faint me seeing as dragon claw is probably his strongest attack. I don't know what he is thinking by switching in Magnezone though because it's just going to faint to Earthquake next turn and he just lost all his speed bosts. Maybe he was planning to be faster and get a hidden power ice in.

Gliscor used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Magnezone lost 263% of its health.
XxAxX's Magnezone fainted.

5-5

XxAxX switched in Cresselia.
Cresselia makes ground moves miss with Levitate!
Gliscor used Earthquake.
Gliscor's attack missed!
Cresselia used Energy Ball.
Gliscor lost 24% of its health.

I play very stupidly here and use Earthquake forgetting about Levitate. I guess I thought she was Pressure. I'm surprised she didn't run ice beam like a lot of Cresselia's I've been seeing recently. Oh well I didn't die.

Gliscor used Substitute.
Gliscor lost 25% of its health.
Gliscor made a substitute!
Cresselia used Thunder Wave.
It doesn't affect Gliscor...

I use my remaining health to pull of a Substitute and I guess he was planning on Thunder Waving by Baton Passed recipient. Bad choice on his part.

Gliscor used Baton Pass.
Zangeese switched in Absol.
Cresselia used Energy Ball.
The substitute took damage for Absol!
Absol's substitute faded!

In comes Absol and doesn't even lose any health and since I'm Jolly I go first next turn with one Swords Dance under my belt. Booyakasha!

Absol used Night Slash.
It's super effective!
Cresselia lost 142% of its health.
XxAxX's Cresselia fainted.
Absol lost 10% of its health.

No Critical hit but Life Orb + Swords Dance + Super Effective + STAB was enough to one hit KO her. What will I face next?

5-4 (Home Team Advantage)

XxAxX switched in Tyranitar.
Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
A sandstorm brewed!
Absol used Rock Smash.
It's super effective!
Tyranitar lost 110% of its health.
XxAxX's Tyranitar fainted.
Absol lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Absol is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Absol lost 6% of its health.

Oh, I'm sorry! Did you sandstreaming big hunk of annoying just get one hit KOed by base power 50 Rock Smash. Suck it up T-Tar! I've been waiting to pull that off for a long time. My opponent is freaking out over this of course. His jaw must have been touching the floor after that turn.

5-3 (Home Team Advantage)

It's a rare game where I'm up by two with only one pokemon, fainted.

Garchomp used Earthquake.
A critical hit!
Absol lost 100% of its health.
Zangeese's Absol fainted.
The sandstorm rages.
Garchomp was hurt by its burn!
Garchomp lost 12% of its health.

Garchomp gets lucky and gets a critical hit and Absol is down for the count. I'm proud of you Absol today. Usually you just faint right away and don't get to do anything but today was your big day.

4-3 (Home Team Advantage)

Zangeese switched in Gliscor.
Garchomp used Dragon Claw.
Gliscor lost 14% of its health.
Gliscor used Substitute.
But it failed!
The sandstorm rages.
Garchomp was hurt by its burn!
Garchomp lost 12% of its health.
XxAxX's Garchomp fainted.
Gliscor's Salac Berry raised its speed!

I was stupid there because I only had very little health left and I forgot Garchomp is faster.

XxAxX switched in Ninjask.
Ninjask used X-Scissor.
It's not very effective...
Gliscor lost 10% of its health.
Gliscor used Baton Pass.
Zangeese switched in Mismagius.
The sandstorm rages.
Ninjask is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Ninjask lost 6% of its health.
Mismagius is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Mismagius lost 6% of its health.
Mismagius's leftovers restored its health a little!
Mismagius restored 6% of its health.
Ninjask's Speed Boost raised its speed!
Ninjask's speed was raised.

This is not looking good for me. My Mismagius is of the PerishTrap variety and I can't PerishTrap a Ninjask because he'll just Baton Pass out.

Ninjask used Baton Pass.
XxAxX switched in Heracross.
Mismagius used Perish Song.
Both Pokemon will faint in 3 turn(s)
The sandstorm rages.
Heracross is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Heracross lost 6% of its health.
Mismagius is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Mismagius lost 6% of its health.
Heracross was badly poisoned!
Mismagius's leftovers restored its health a little!
Mismagius restored 6% of its health.
Heracross's perish count fell to 3!
Mismagius's perish count fell to 3!

In comes the mighty Heracross, and I blindly use Perish Song anyway hoping to scare him and mean look the next pokemon he switches in. My opponent was probably expecting a Thunderbolt or whatever the normal Mismagius uses so I don't think he was aware of my little plan.

Heracross used Megahorn.
It's not very effective...
Mismagius lost 77% of its health.
Mismagius used Mean Look.
Heracross was trapped!
The sandstorm rages.
Heracross is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Heracross lost 6% of its health.
Mismagius is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Mismagius lost 6% of its health.
Heracross is hurt by poison!
Heracross lost 6% of its health.
Mismagius's leftovers restored its health a little!
Mismagius restored 6% of its health.
Heracross's perish count fell to 2!
Mismagius's perish count fell to 2!

I magically pull off the Mean Look and Survive the Mega Horn because of my resistance even though she has no EV's in defence and is Calm. But I got this in the bag though.

Mismagius used Protect.
Mismagius protected itself!
Heracross used Megahorn.
Mismagius protected itself!
The sandstorm rages.
Heracross is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Heracross lost 6% of its health.
Mismagius is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Mismagius lost 6% of its health.
Heracross is hurt by poison!
Heracross lost 12% of its health.
Mismagius's leftovers restored its health a little!
Mismagius restored 6% of its health.
Heracross's perish count fell to 1!
Mismagius's perish count fell to 1!

His perish count is at one and he can't switch out. So that means bye bye Heracross.

Zangeese switched in Gliscor.
Heracross used Megahorn.
It's not very effective...
Gliscor lost 30% of its health.
Zangeese's Gliscor fainted.
The sandstorm rages.
Heracross is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Heracross lost 6% of its health.
Heracross is hurt by poison!
Heracross lost 19% of its health.
Heracross's perish count fell to 0!
XxAxX's Heracross fainted.

I switched in Gliscor for the sacrifice. He had served me well though.

3-2 (Home Team Advantage)

This is looking good he has got two weakened pokemon and I have three pokemon in alright shape. I figure I'll switch Mismagius back in and stall him to death.

XxAxX switched in Ninjask.
Zangeese switched in Mismagius.
Ninjask used X-Scissor.
It's not very effective...
Mismagius lost 27% of its health.
Zangeese's Mismagius fainted.
The sandstorm rages.
Ninjask is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Ninjask lost 6% of its health.
Ninjask's Speed Boost raised its speed!
Ninjask's speed was raised.

This is where I made my fatal error. I should have used Protect so Ninjask would receive damage from the sandstorm but I was being over confident in my Mismagius's ability to survive am X-Scissor. My last two pokemon can do nothing to stop it either.

2-2

Zangeese switched in Jumpluff.
XxAxX: can i pull out a win?! probably not!
Ninjask used X-Scissor.
Jumpluff lost 42% of its health.
Zangeese's Jumpluff fainted.
The sandstorm rages.
Ninjask is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Ninjask lost 6% of its health.
Ninjask's Speed Boost raised its speed!
Ninjask's speed was raised.

I switch in Jumpluff again only to faint right away to another X-Scissor.

1-2 (Away Team Advantage)

Zangeese switched in Alakazam.
Ninjask used X-Scissor.
It's super effective!
Alakazam lost 153% of its health.
Zangeese's Alakazam fainted.
XxAxX wins!

I switch in Alakazam and my opponent Lol's because he knows he's won now. Ninjask is sitting at 6% health right now but since I'm running TrickZam there's nothing I can do to out speed it. So with a hat trick of X-Scissors it's over.

0-2 (Final Score Away Team Wins!)

Pros:
- Absol One Hit KO'd Cresselia and One Hit KO'd Tyranitar with Rock Smash
- Mismagius perish trapped Heracross
- Gliscor pulled off a substitute / swords dance baton bass correctly
- My opponent had to resort to his Ninjask to win the game

Cons:

- Being unlucky and having Sleep Powder and Toxic miss
- made a few stupid moves
- Alakazam didn't get to do anything

This is a really good warstory. It is nice to see pokemon like Shedinja and Absol being used, and having success, in OU teams. It's a good thing for your Shedinja that he didn't decide to bring out his Tyranitar until later.

Got To Give Props To Old Absol, And It's Hard To Do Perish Trap But Surprisngly You Got It Through.
But His Ninjask Messed Your Plan Up Big Time.
But I Got To Say This Is One Of The Best Iv'e Seen Lately.

Thanks guys. Yeah I was kind of lucky I got to pull off those moves I did. However, I've just discovered my team has the biggest weaville weakness. I just got swept 6-0 three times in a row by facing a Weaville. It's too bad though because my team is really fun to play and really rewarding when I get to take down a bunch of overused annoying pokemon. I don't want to replace any of them. I've learned that Jumpluff is not as fun in diamond pearl. Too many leads outspeed her now. Ninjask / Weaville / yanmega are really common and she can't do anything about them.

I just had another good battle using a sandstream team I made that did not have tyranitar or garchomp (I used hippowdon to start the sandstream) and I took out a team that involved ko-ing metagross and heatran with a choice scarf sandslash. It was awesome.

This is an example to me, of a team that in spite of weaknesses, makes the game fun.

You so often hear people who want to use their favorites, and then lose horribly. This is an example of a team that can be used well (obviously with the prediction you displayed), and is still a lot of fun to play.

Good job, one of the better warstories around, even if you didnt win.

Wow. Rock Smash lol. Doesn't Absol learn Brick Break? Probably not or else you would be using it. Nice warstory. Makes me want to play me favorites now.

I just have a little comment. You should run sucker Punch on absol. 80 bp+ stab+ life orb+ swords dance maybe hurts alot of things.

Anyway, a good read.

I agree with StrangerDanger. You have a unique team, which you utilized effectively. I liked your use of Jumpluff also; everyone either laughs or swears at that thing.

It does seem that Jumpluff got hit hard by Choice Scarf and U-Turn, but Jumpluff's still awesomely fun, can work wonders. Although Subseed may be reduced, it can still DoubleStatus, or outspeed with Sunny Day, or support with Reflect or Aromatherapy. Or it could Memento suicide, but there's only one battler moronic enough to do such a silly thing...

Great writing, great favourites team, and a good battle that definitely earned you respect. Grats.

Memento sets up easy Smeargle bellypasses... but anyway aside from that, that was a cool warstory, and I loved your use of Jumpluff. That thing is awesome, and its too bad that you missed with Status twice and got crit'd while sweeping.

BTW, you really should consider Sucker Punch on Absol. 120 BP Priority attack can take out a lot of pokes after a Sowrds Dance coming off his attack(provided they attacked you).

Thanks guys. I really like it when I face people who are using their favorites too because then I actually see some new pokemon. This is my stategy based favorites team. If Wobbuffet was allowed in non-ubers play I would use him instead of Shedinja.

Note: I have Alakazam, Absol, Mismagius and Gliscor already bred ingame with Alakazam and Absol EVtrained although I still have to raise them to over 50. I'm in the process of breeding a good jolly 31 IV speed decent defenses Jumpfluff but I haven't tried to get a Shedinja yet.

I almost have a good Dunsparce bred too, he's another of my favorites with his flinch hax awesomeness. However using him involves surviving one hit which seems to be a lot harder in diamond/pearl. Back in NetBattle for RSFRLG doubles I would lead with Jumpluff and Dunsparce. Sleep the faster and paralyze the other. Flinch hax the paralyzed and set up the substitute as they switched out. It worked really well.

I fell in love with Shedinja when I did an uber battle on NetBattle with a friend, (neither of us new much about ubers) and I baton passed a subsititue and a couple swords dances and some speed boosts with Ninjask and took out Mewtwo or something with a Silver Wind. A question about Shedinja though. I can breed with ditto right? If I attach the everstone to ditto will I still get the chance of passing down its nature?

I think I might try Sucker Punch on Absol. I guess when I was choosing his moveset I figured the difference in base power 80 vs 70 plus the fact that Night Slash works well with his Super Luck trait was why I chose it. I was also woried about it failing because of them not attacking me. But the fact it is priority will be awesome because there are a lot of things faster than Absol especially with Choice Scarf so prevalent. I will try it out.

Also, I think I've figured out a good way I might be able to take out a Weaville with my team. Choice Scarf Alakazam vs Choice Specs. Choice Scarf Alakazam will definitely outspeed a Weaville unless it's Choice Scarfed as well. In the first case I can hope focus blast hits for the one hit ko or in the second I can sacrifice him and send in absol who should survive the dark attack Weaville used and one hit ko with Rock Smash. However in game my Alakazam is timid with 31 speed iv so he might be able to outspeed some of the Weavilles.
