[OVERVIEW]

Dark
========

Tyranitar is the premier Stealth Rock setter for Dark-type teams due to its great natural bulk and proficiency as a lead with tons of useful utility and coverage moves such as Toxic, Thunder Wave, and Fire Blast, and its Mega Evolution is a potent setup sweeper with access to great coverage options, allowing it to take on threatening types such as Steel and Ground. Due to Tyranitar's phenomenal natural bulk along with the sandstorm it summons with Sand Stream boosting its Special Defense, it can act as a defensive pivot and blanket check to many special attackers such as Latios and Nihilego. Tyranitar's part Rock typing also gives it a resistance to Fire-type attacks, allowing it to take on Pokemon such as Victini. Mega Tyranitar's natural bulk also allows it to more readily set up with Dragon Dance against weaker Pokemon such as Klefki and Alolan Muk. Tyranitar's decent offensive stats even when left uninvested prevent it from being passive when using defensive sets, allowing it to still threaten hazard removers such as Zapdos, Mantine, and Armaldo. Tyranitar's wide movepool allows it to function as either a Stealth Rock setter or a Dragon Dance sweeper with access to fantastic coverage moves such as Ice Punch for Ground-types and Fire Punch for Steel-types. However, Mega Tyranitar's mediocre Speed stat leaves it susceptible to common revenge killers like Mega Lopunny and Choice Scarf Excadrill, even at +1. Due to Tyranitar's rather poor defensive typing, it is left weak to many common offensive types and stacks the Fighting weakness, giving Mega Tyranitar trouble setting up against a wide variety of Pokemon such as Terrakion and Tapu Bulu. Since Tyranitar does not have a solid form of recovery, chip damage from entry hazards and status conditions such as being poisoned and burned affect Tyranitar's longevity. Dragon Dance Mega Tyranitar also does not appreciate status conditions, as they all negatively affect its ability to sweep late-game.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Stealth Rock chips foes when they switch in and can break abilities and items such as Dragonite's Multiscale and Breloom's Focus Sash. Stone Edge is Tyranitar's main STAB move and form of damage output and allows Tyranitar to hit Pokemon such as Volcarona, Zapdos, and Kyurem-B. Rock Slide is a more reliable Rock-type STAB move that can be run over Stone Edge. Thunder Wave gives Tyranitar a form of speed control, allowing it to cripple offensive foes such as offensive Dragon Dance Mega Altaria. Fire Blast allows Tyranitar to hit Steel-types such as Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor that would otherwise wall Tyranitar.

Set Details
========

The EV spread and Sassy nature maximize Tyranitar's special bulk, letting it more easily take on special threats such as Hydreigon and Volcarona. The Sassy nature also does not sacrifice the power of Tyranitar's Fire Blast. Sand Stream sets up sand, which gives Tyranitar an increase in Special Defense. Leftovers gives Tyranitar passive recovery, allowing it to continually switch into battle, tank attacks, and set up Stealth Rock.

Usage Tips
========

Tyranitar should try to keep up Stealth Rock throughout the game. When a Flying-type Defogger comes in to clear entry hazards, Tyranitar should be switched in to force a switch with its STAB Stone Edge and take advantage of it to set up Stealth Rock again. Thunder Wave should be used against faster threats that Tyranitar cannot OHKO with Stone Edge, such as Latios, allowing teammates such as Mandibuzz and Greninja to more easily check it. Tyranitar is a great special sponge and should switch in on attacks it is not weak to, such as Kyurem-B's Ice Beam and Mega Pidgeot's Hurricane. Preserve Tyranitar against types like Flying and Normal, where it comes in handy against threats like Mega Charizard Y and Porygon-Z. Sand Stream can be used to chip Focus Sash and Multiscale users such as Breloom and Dragonite, allowing teammates to more easily revenge kill these Pokemon. Tyranitar should avoid status conditions, as they affect its longevity in battle due to lack of reliable recovery. For the same reason, it should also avoid switching into entry hazards and weak attacks that its teammates like Mandibuzz can take care of.

Team Options
========

Mandibuzz forms an entry hazard control core with Tyranitar and also possesses a Fighting-type neutrality, allowing it to switch into powerful STAB attacks such as Infernape's Close Combat. Mandibuzz also forms a nice defensive core with Tyranitar, as it is a fantastic physical wall. Mega Sableye possesses a Fighting-type immunity to support Tyranitar, can defend against Trick and Knock Off users that target Tyranitar, and can reflect hazards and status conditions with Magic Bounce such as Toxic Spikes from Toxapex and Toxic from Porygon2. Mega Sableye can also threaten physical attackers with Will-O-Wisp, leaving them unable to wallbreak successfully. Mega Sharpedo appreciates Tyranitar's ability to set up Stealth Rock, as it can clean more easily with the chip damage Stealth Rock provides. Mega Sharpedo can also take care of Fighting-types that Tyranitar struggles against such as Keldeo with Psychic Fangs at +1 Speed. Alolan Muk is a nice switch-in to Fairy-type attacks and can remove items such as Hydreigon's Choice Specs with Knock Off, giving Tyranitar an easier time setting up Stealth Rock. Greninja is a great Choice Scarf user, able to pivot Tyranitar in with U-turn, outspeed and OHKO Dragonite after Multiscale is broken, and revenge kill Tapu Bulu, and it also appreciates Tyranitar's ability to switch into strong special attackers such as Volcarona lacking Bug Buzz. Greninja can also form a hazard stacking core with Tyranitar, as it has access to Spikes and Toxic Spikes. Bisharp can break past Fairy-type Pokemon such as Klefki and Clefable for Tyranitar and threaten Defoggers such as Zapdos due to Defiant. Hydreigon is a fantastic special wallbreaker that can take care of Pokemon such as Skarmory for Tyranitar and can switch directly into Water- and Grass-type attacks as well as Ground-type attacks due to Levitate.

[SET]
name: Dragon Dance (Dark)
move 1: Dragon Dance

move 3: Fire Punch
move 4: Earthquake / Ice Punch
item: Tyranitarite
ability: Sand Stream
nature: Jolly
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Dragon Dance boosts Tyranitar's Attack and Speed by one stage each, allowing it to outspeed Pokemon such as Tapu Koko after one boost. Stone Edge is Mega Tyranitar's strongest STAB attack. Fire Punch allows Tyranitar to hit Steel-type Pokemon such as Ferrothorn that would otherwise wall it. Earthquake provides good coverage with Stone Edge and allows Mega Tyranitar to hit Electric-, Rock-, Poison-, and Steel-type Pokemon such as Alolan Golem, Toxapex, and Excadrill. Ice Punch allows Tyranitar to hit Ground-type Pokemon such as Hippowdon and Landorus-T, preventing them from walling it. Crunch is Tyranitar's main Dark-type STAB attack and allows it to threaten Psychic- and Ghost-type Pokemon such as Mew and Hoopa, though opting for Crunch means that Tyranitar loses out on being able to threaten Ground-types such as Garchomp with Ice Punch. Stealth Rock is an option over Fire Punch for teams that need role compression, but this means Tyranitar will be walled by Pokemon such as Ferrothorn that would otherwise be no problem for it.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed and Attack investment allows Mega Tyranitar to be as fast and strong as possible. A Jolly nature allows Mega Tyranitar to outspeed key threats such as Tapu Koko and Greninja at +1 Speed and Pokemon such as Jolly Bisharp before a Dragon Dance. Tyranitarite allows Tyranitar to Mega Evolve, making it a more formidable sweeper with a decent increase in Speed, Attack, and overall bulk. Sand Stream boosts Tyranitar's Special Defense by 50% and chips the foe at the end of each turn for five turns.

Usage Tips
========

Against passive Pokemon such as Klefki, which Tyranitar is not threatened by at all, Mega Tyranitar should and can easily use Dragon Dance to sweep through the team. Wait for Mega Tyranitar's checks, such as Choice Scarf Keldeo, to be removed before attempting to set up. Mega Tyranitar should switch out to a teammate such as Alolan Muk on all status-inducing moves, as all status conditions threaten it and hinder its ability to sweep. Since Mega Tyranitar is best used as a late-game cleaner, you should make sure it does not take too much damage to give it the best chance to sweep. Mega Tyranitar should be preserved to help check threats such as Kyurem-B and Volcarona before attempting to set up and sweep. If Stealth Rock is run, it should be used to capitalize on when Mega Tyranitar forces a switch, as this will give it a free turn to do so.

Team Options
========

Greninja acts as a nice blanket check to offensive Pokemon that threaten Mega Tyranitar due to its great coverage in moves like Gunk Shot to hit Fairy-types like Tapu Koko and Ice Beam to hit Ground-type Pokemon such as Garchomp. Greninja appreciates Mega Tyranitar's ability to take on special walls that wall it such as Chansey. Krookodile takes the role of Stealth Rock setter, allowing Tyranitar to run the Dragon Dance set. Krookodile can also remove items such as Greninja's Choice Scarf with Knock Off to ease Mega Tyranitar's attempts at sweeping and Taunt other slower leads such as Skarmory to prevent them from setting up Stealth Rock, allowing Mega Tyranitar to more easily set up. Mandibuzz is the best answer to Fighting-type teams when Mega Tyranitar is being used and can tank Fighting-type attacks such as Close Combat from Heracross and Terrakion. Mandibuzz can also clear away entry hazards with Defog so that Mega Tyranitar can more easily switch in through the match, and Mega Tyranitar can beat Ice- and Electric-type Pokemon such as Weavile and Tapu Koko for Mandibuzz. Alolan Muk is a nice switch-in to Fairy-type attacks and can remove items such as Hydreigon's Choice Specs with Knock Off, giving Mega Tyranitar an easier time setting up Dragon Dance. Hydreigon is a fantastic special wallbreaker that is capable of taking on physical walls that Mega Tyranitar has difficulty breaking past such as Ferrothorn and Quagsire. Bisharp can set Stealth Rock for Mega Tyranitar, which allows it to freely run Fire Punch, and can also paralyze faster threats such as Terrakion with Thunder Wave. Bisharp can also act as an excellent Swords Dance sweeper alongside Mega Tyranitar, as they both share similar checks and appreciate the other being able to wear them down.

Dark
--------
Rockium Z in combination with Dragon Dance can be utilized on hyper offensive Dark-type teams, allowing Tyranitar to become a potent sweeper that can OHKO Pokemon such as Gliscor with +1 Continental Crush. This set is typically run so Mega Sharpedo can be used as the team's Mega Evolution and Krookodile can be used as the Stealth Rock setter. However, Tyranitar's rather poor Speed stat leaves it outsped by a ton of common Pokemon at +1 such as Tapu Koko and Greninja. Choice Band allows Tyranitar to become a powerful wallbreaker, making it very hard to switch into and allowing it to 2HKO defensive Skarmory and Celesteela, which Flying-type teams typically use as checks to Tyranitar. Other defensive utility moves can be used on specially defensive Stealth Rock setter Tyranitar such as Toxic over Thunder Wave, putting threats such as Azumarill on a timer. Protect and Toxic can be used over Thunder Wave and Fire Blast to scout which move Choice-locked Pokemon such as Greninja and Heracross use. However, this means that Tyranitar loses out on the speed control that Thunder Wave provides and on the ability to hit Steel-types like Ferrothorn for good damage.

Checks and Counters
===================

Dark
--------
**Fighting-types**: Tyranitar struggles against Fighting-types such as Terrakion and Breloom, which resist both its STAB attacks and deal 4x super effective damage to it in return.

**Ground-types**: Ground-type Pokemon resist Tyranitar's main STAB move in Stone Edge and can easily threaten it in return with their super effective Ground-type STAB moves. Hippowdon deserves a special mention, as it can very easily wall all variants of Tyranitar and phaze it with Whirlwind or inflict it with Toxic poison, severely limiting its time in battle.

**Physical Walls**: Physical walls such as Toxapex and Hippowdon can easily take on a boosted Mega Tyranitar and threaten it with their STAB attacks. Toxapex should watch out for Earthquake, as it can not switch into it and is 2HKOed by it when Mega Tyranitar has not set up.

**Status Conditions**: Both Tyranitar and Mega Tyranitar do not appreciate status conditions, especially Mega Tyranitar, as they all affect its ability to sweep. Toxic poison, in particular, puts both of them on a very limited timer.

**Water-types**: Many offensive Water-type Pokemon such as Manaphy threaten Tyranitar with their STAB attacks. Defensive Water-types such as Gastrodon and Toxapex can also burn Tyranitar with Scald, leaving it unable to sweep, with the latter additionally being able to Haze away its boosts.

**Revenge Killers**: Due to Mega Tyranitar's mediocre base Speed, it can be easily revenge killed even after a Dragon Dance boost by common Choice Scarf users such as Tapu Bulu and naturally fast Pokemon like Mega Lopunny.

* Tyranitar is the premier Stealth Rock setter for Dark-type teams due to its great natural bulk and its ability as a lead with tons of useful utility and coverage moves such as Toxic, Thunder Wave and Fire Blast.
* Sand Stream is Tyranitar's main ability, which sets sandstorm and boosts its Special Defense while also being able to chip the foe, which also can break the foe's Focus Sash and or Dragonite's Multiscale. I'd split this into two sentences.
* Tyranitar can cripple opposing team Pokemon such as x and y with Thunder Wave and Toxic respectively, allowing other teammates to more easily outspeed key threats due to Thunder Wave such as Mega Altaria and set Pokemon Azumarill on a timer with Toxic. It can't cripple the whole team obviously; use respective examples.
* Due to Tyranitar's phenomenal natural bulk it can act as a defensive pivot and blanket check to many Special attackers such as Latios and Nihilego.
* Due to Tyranitar's great natural bulk it can quite easily setup Dragon Dance's in the face of non Supereffective attacks and passive Pokemon. Allowing Tyranitar to become a potent sweeper with very few checks once it has setup. This set also is Dark-type teams best chance of successfully beating Fairy-type teams. I'd rewrite this and only mention Dragon Dance while talking about Mega Tyranitar.
* Tyranitar's wide move pool allow it to run two sets very successfully, being Stealth Rock setter and Dragon Dance sweeper with access to fantastic coverage such as Ice Punch for Ground-types and Fire Punch for Steel-types.
* Due to Tyranitar's rather poor defensive typing it is left weak to many common Offensive types, giving Tyranitar trouble setting up against the wide variety of Pokemon that run attacks that hit it for Supereffective damage such as Terrakion's Close Combat and Tapu Bulu's Wood Hammer. Mention stacking a common weakness to Fighting also.
* Mega Tyranitar is a great Offensive Pokemon however its rather middling natural Speed leaves it weak to many common Offensive attackers such as Mega Lopunny's High Jump Kick and Choice Scarf Excadrill's Earthquake even after a Dragon Dance boost.
slow for a setup sweeper
* Both Tyranitar and Mega Tyranitar are extremely weak to status conditions, as Toxic both severely limits their time on the battlefield while paralysis and a burn severely reduce Mega Tyranitar's ability to sweep late-game.

Moves
========

* Stealth Rock chips the opponents when they switch in and can break Dragonite's Multiscale or Garchomp's Focus Sash. Use an example like Breloom over Chomp, a much bigger threat to Dark.
* Stone Edge allows Tyranitar to hit Bug-, Fire-, Flying-, and Ice-type pokemon such as Volcarona and Kyurem-B while being Tyranitar's main STAB attack. Clarify that it's Tyranitar's most powerful move and its main form of dealing damage.
* Thunder Wave gives Tyranitar a form of speed control allowing it to cripple offensive foes such as Mega Altaria and Victini, by slowing them down.
* Fire Blast allows Tyranitar to hit annoying Steel-types such as Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor which would otherwise wall Tyranitar.
* Pursuit can be used to trap annoying Pokemon such as Victini and Latios, while being able to chip anything that might not want to stay in against Tyranitar. If Pursuit is used run a Careful nature, since it would be used over Fire Blast and no longer needs the Special Attack. Clarify that Pursuit mostly traps Pokemon that Dark is already well-equipped against.
* Toxic is an option over Thunder Wave, as it can set setup sweepers such as Azumarill on a timer and prevent it from sweeping the team. Can also lure walls like Porygon2.

Set Details
========

* The EV spread and Sassy nature allows Tyranitar to maximize its special bulk, letting it more easily take on special threats such as Hydreigon and Volcarona. Mention how Sassy doesn't sacrifice Fire Blast's power while Careful should be used if not running it.
* Sand Stream chips the opponent breaking the foe's Focus Sash and Dragonite's Multiscale while also giving Tyranitar a nice increase in Special Defense when the sand is up.
* Leftovers gives Tyranitar passive recovery, allowing it to continually switch into battle, tank attacks and set up Stealth Rock.

Usage Tips
========

* Tyranitar should keep up Stealth Rock through out the game. When a Defogger comes into clear hazards Tyranitar should be switched in to take advantage of the forced switch to set up Stealth Rock again.
* I'd mention how Tyranitar matches up decently well against many of the metagame's defoggers thanks to its Rock typing.
* Tyranitar can cripple setup sweepers such as Mega Altaria with Thunder Wave, allowing teammates such as Greninja to outspeed it even with a few Dragon Dances.
* Switch Tyranitar out on Fighting-type attacks such as Terrakion's Close Combat to teammates such as Mega Sableye and Mandibuzz. Generally on any strong physical attacker that Terrakion can not safely stay in on such as Terrakion, Mandibuzz should be switched in, if it can be switched in safely.
* Tyranitar is a great special sponge, it can easily and should switch in on non-Supereffective attacks such as Kyurem-B's Ice Beam and Mega Pidgeot's Hurricane.
* Mention lack of recovery outside of Leftovers and how it can be worn down during the match.
* Mention how you shouldn't play recklessly with Tyranitar in matchups where it's important because of this^

* Tyranitar is the teams Stealth Rock setter and can spread paralysis, so you should preserve it through the match to check fast pokemon with Thunder Wave and to set up Stealth Rock again.
* If threats such as Volcarona and Mega Charizard Y are still alive Tyranitar should be preserved in order to check those threats, even if that means not setting up Stealth Rock that game. I don't think this point is necessary and can be compressed into the one I mentioned.

Team Options
========

* Mandibuzz forms a hazard setting and removal core with Tyranitar, while also being a Fighting-type neutrality for Tyranitar allowing it to switch into powerful STAB attacks such as Terrakion Infernape's Close Combat. Better example since Mandibuzz is always scared of Stone Edge.
* Mega Sableye is a Fighting-type immunity for Tyranitar and Magic Bounce allows it to deflect hazards such as Toxic Spikes from Toxapex. Mega Sableye can also check physical attackers for Tyranitar with Will-O-Wisp, making the unable to wallbreak successfully. Pressures Pokemon trying to status Tyranitar.
* Mega Sharpedo appreciates its ability to set up Stealth Rock, as it can clean late-game easier with the chip damage Stealth Rock provides. Mega Sharpedo can also take care of annoying Fighting-types such as Keldeo with Psychic Fangs at +1 Speed, which Tyranitar struggles against.
* Muk Alola is a nice switch in to Fairy-type attacks and can Knock Off items such as Hydreigon's Choice Specs, giving Tyranitar an easier time setting up Stealth Rock. Muk Alola also appreciates Tyranitar's ability to get rid of Flying-types such as Zapdos for it.
* Greninja is a nice form of Speed control being able to pivot in Tyranitar with U-turn, outspeed and OHKO many threats to Tyranitar such as Dragonite after Multiscale is broken and Tapu Koko. Greninja appreciates Tyranitar's ability to switch into strong special attackers such as Volcarona lacking Bug Buzz.
* Bisharp can break past annoying Fairy-type Pokemon such as Klefki and Clefable for Tyranitar. Bisharp can threaten Defoggers such as Zapdos with Defiant, limiting the amount of times Defog can be successfully used, which limits the amount of times Tyranitar needs to set up Stealth Rock.
* Hydreigon is a fantastic wallbreaker that can severely dent anything that does not resist Draco Meteor such as Toxapex with Choice Specs Draco Meteor. Why does Tyranitar appreciate this?

Moves

* Dragon Dance boosts Tyranitar's Attack and Speed by 1 Stage allowing it to outspeed Pokemon such as Tapu Koko with 1 boost.
* Stone Edge is Mega Tyranitar's main STAB attack and allows it to hit and OHKO annoying Ice-, Flying-, Fire-, and Bug-types such as Kyurem Black and Volcarona.
* Earthquake rounds out coverage with Stone Edge and allows it to hit Electric-, Rock-, and Steel-type pokemon such as Alolan Golem and Excadrill.
* Crunch is Tyranitar's main Dark-type STAB and allows it to threaten Psychic- and Ghost-type Pokemon such as Mew and Hoopa.
* Fire Punch allows Tyranitar to hit annoying Steel-type Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, which would otherwise wall it.
* Ice Punch allows Tyranitar to hit annoying Ground-type pokemon such as Hippowdon, Landorus-T, which would otherwise wall it.
Focus on Fire Punch and Ice Punch over Crunch; their coverage is far superior and helps with more matchups overall.

Set Details
========

* Maximum Speed and Attack investment allows Mega Tyranitar to be as fast and strong as possible.
* A Jolly nature allows Mega Tyranitar to outspeed key threats such as Tapu Koko and Greninja at +1 Speed. Might be worth noting that it outspeeds base 70s like Bisharp and defensive Mew.
* Tyranitarite allows Tyranitar to Mega Evolve making it a more formidable sweeper with a decent increase in Speed, Attack and improving its overall bulk.
* Sand Stream boosts Tyranitar's Special Defense by 1 stage and chips the foe at the end of each turn for 5 turns.

Usage Tips
========

* Tyranitar should not try to attack or setup on Pokemon that can threaten it such as Tapu Bulu and Excadrill. In these situations Tyranitar should switch into a Defensive teammate that can handle these threats such as Mandibuzz and Mega Sableye.
* Against passive Pokemon such as Klefki, which Tyranitar is not threatened by at all, should and can easily setup Dragon Dances to sweep through the team.
* If something that can stop Mega Tyranitar, even after it has set up such as Quagsire, it should not bother setting up Dragon Dance until the threat has been removed from the field by a teammate or weakened enough for Tyranitar to handle. I understand this point but you should probably rewrite it and just say don't set up until all of its checks are KOed or weakened. Quagsire is a pretty bad example too since it's not a very relevant Pokemon in Monotype.
* Tyranitar should switch out on all status moves, to a teammate such as Mega Sableye, as all status conditions threaten it and handicap its ability to sweep.
* If a Mega Tyranitar is threatened by a Pokemon on the opposing team such as Tapu Bulu or Azumarill it should either predict the incoming Pokemon and try to damage them as much as possible or switch into a teammate that can wall and or beat that threat.
* Since Mega Tyranitar is best used as a late-game cleaner, you should try to keep it as healthy as possible to give it the best chance to sweep. This means making sure it does not take to much damage and avoiding all status conditions if possible.

Team Options
========
* Krookodile allows Mega Tyranitar to run the Offensive Dragon Dance set because it takes the role of Stealth Rock setter. Krookodile can also Knock Off items that allows Mega Tyranitar to more easily sweep such as Greninja's Choice Scarf and Taunt other slower lead pokemon such as Skarmory from setting up Stealth Rock, allowing Tyranitar to more easily set up.
* Mandibuzz is the best answer to Fighting-type teams when Mega Tyranitar is being used and can tank Fighting-type attacks such as Close Combat from Heracross and Terrakion. Mandibuzz can also clear away hazards with Defog, so that Mega Tyranitar can easily switch in through the match. Tyranitar can then beat Ice- and Electric-type Pokemon such as Weavile and Tapu Koko for Mandibuzz.
* Muk Alola is a nice switch in to Fairy-type attacks and can Knock Off items such as Hydreigon's Choice Specs, giving Tyranitar an easier time setting up Stealth Rock. Muk Alola also appreciates Mega Tyranitar's ability to get rid of Flying-types such as Zapdos for it.
* Greninja acts as a nice blanket check to all Offensive Pokemon that threaten Mega Tyranitar due to its great coverage in moves like Gunk Shot to hit Fairy-types like Tapu Koko and Ice Beam to hit Ground-type Pokemon such as Garchomp. Greninja appreciates Mega Tyranitar's ability to take on Special walls such as Chansey, which wall Greninja. Make this the first teammate.
* Hydreigon is a fantastic Special wallbreaker that is capable of taking on Defensive walls such as Ferrothorn and Quagsire for it, taking care of walls that Mega Tyranitar has difficulty breaking past.
* Bisharp forms a fantastic Physical wallbreaking core with Mega Tyranitar as they both share similar checks and appreciate the others ability to weaken them in order so the other can deal with the threat such as Hippowdon.

* Z-Stone Edge Dragon Dance sweeper Tyranitar is a set used on Hyper Offensive Dark-type teams, and allows Tyranitar to become a potent sweeper allowing it to OHKO Pokemon such as Gliscor with +1 Z-Stone Edge. This set is typically ran so Mega Sharpedo can be used as the teams Mega Pokemon and Krookodile as the Stealth Rock setter.
* Choice Band allows Tyranitar to become a powerful wallbreaker, making it very hard to switch in. This set 2HKO's Defensive Skarmory and Celesteela, which Flying-type teams typically use as the Tyranitar answer.
* Chople Berry with an EV spread of 252 HP, 88 Defense, 168 Special Defense and a Relaxed nature allows Tyranitar to live some common and very powerful Fighting-type attacks such as Choice Specs Keldeo's Secret Sword and Choice Scarf Terrakion's Close Combat, which it would not usually be able to tank. This set forgoes running Leftovers to have a stronger matchup against Fighting-type teams.
* Mention Stealth Rock on the Mega DD set.

Checks and Counters
===================

Dark
--------
**Status Conditions**: Both Tyranitar and Mega Tyranitar do not appreciate status conditions, especially Mega Tyranitar as they all affect its ability to sweep and Toxic poison puts both on a very limited timer. Pokemon such as Porygon2 and Ferrothorn both can easily tank an attack thrown at them and cripple Tyranitar with Toxic or Thunder Wave. (4)

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Physically Defensive walls such as Ferrothorn, Hippowdon and Quagsire can easily take Tyranitar even with a boost and threaten them with their STAB attacks such as Power Whip, Earthquake, and Scald respectively. These pokemon often carry status conditions and in Ferrothorn's case Leech Seed, which only allows them to more easily take it on. (3)

**Fighting-types**: Fighting-type attacks do 4x damage to Tyranitar due to its crippling weakness to the type and have a hard time setting up and threatening pokemon in this type, even unset Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Terrakion and Mach Punch Breloom can easily OHKO both sets. (1)

**Steel-types**: Steel-types resist Tyranitar's strongest STAB attack in Stone Edge, and can threaten it back with their STAB attacks such as Lucario and Excadrill with Close Combat and Earthquake, respectively. However Steel-types such as Ferrothorn and Scizor should watch out for the Fire-type coverage that Tyranitar might carry to get past the Steel-type resistance in Fire Blast or Fire Punch for Tyranitar and Mega Tyranitar, respectively. (7)

**Ground-types**: Ground-type Pokemon resist Tyranitar's main STAB in Stone Edge and can easily threaten it back with their powerful Ground-type STAB. Hippowdon deserves a special shout out mention as not only can it really easily wall all variants of Tyranitar but it can also phase it out with Whirlwind or status it with Toxic, severely limiting its time in battle. However bulky Ground-type Pokemon such as Hippowdon can be threatened by Mega Tyranitar if it has Ice Punch. (2)

**Water-types**: Many offensive Water-type Pokemon threaten Tyranitar with their STAB attacks such as Keldeo's Secret Sword and or Azumarill's Play Rough. Defensive Water-types such as Gastrodon can also burn Tyranitar with Scald making it unable to sweep or Toxapex being able to Haze away its boosts. (5)

**Tapu Bulu**: Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu deserves a special mention as it can weaken Tyranitar's Earthquake with Grassy Terrain and can take on Tyranitar even with a Dragon Dance boost and proceed to easily OHKO it with terrain boosted Wood Hammer. (6)

No real comments here but it seems a bit all over the place, so I'd reorder the checks and counters like that^
There's quite a bit of grammatical errors here; it's mostly just small things though. Just an AM check so implement what you agree with!

* Tyranitar is the premier Stealth Rock setter for Dark-type teams due to its great natural bulk and its ability as a lead with tons of useful utility and coverage moves such as Toxic, Thunder Wave and Fire Blast.
* You have a bullet about regular tyranitar's role, so add a bullet about Mega Tyranitar's role second (here)
* Sand Stream is Tyranitar's main ability, which sets sandstorm and boosts its Special Defense while also being able to chip the foe. Sandstorm also has the added effect of being able to break the foe's Focus Sash and Dragonite's Multiscale. This is a set details bullet, remove it.
* Tyranitar can cripple Pokemon with Thunder Wave and Toxic respectively, allowing other teammates to more easily outspeed key threats due to Thunder Wave such as Mega Altaria and set Pokemon Azumarill on a timer with Toxic. "Respectively" doesn't make sense here since you're not referring to anything prior to it in the sentence (you do afterwards, but that's not how that word works).
* Due to Tyranitar's phenomenal natural bulk along with sandstorm boosting its Special Defense, it can act as a defensive pivot and blanket check to many Special attackers such as Latios and Nihilego. Its natural bulk also allows it to more readily set up with Dragon Dance against weaker Pokemon such as x and x.
* Due to Mega Tyranitar's great natural bulk it can quite easily setup Dragon Dance's in the face of non Supereffective attacks and passive Pokemon. Allowing Mega Tyranitar to become a potent sweeper with very few checks once it has setup. This set also is Dark-type teams best chance of successfully beating Fairy-type teams. Delete this sentence, it doesn't say anything remarkable on top of the previous sentence (just melded into the previous one like I wrote).
* Tyranitar's wide move pool allow it to run two setsfunction as either a utility Pokemon or a setup sweeper very successfully, being Stealth Rock setter and Dragon Dance sweeper with access to fantastic coverage such as Ice Punch for Ground-types and Fire Punch for Steel-types.
* Dark-type teams already are weak to Fighting-type Pokemon such as Keldeo and Terrakion, which Tyranitar is weak to and stacks on the teams Fighting-type weakness. Just combine this with the previous sentence, you don't need to write two comments on it being weak to fighting
* Mega Tyranitar is a great Offensive Pokemon however its rather middling natural Speed leaves it weak to many common Offensive attackers such as Mega Lopunny's High Jump Kick and Choice Scarf Excadrill's Earthquake even after a Dragon Dance boost.
slow for a setup sweeper?
* Both Tyranitar and Mega Tyranitar are extremely weak to status conditions, as Toxic both severely limits their time on the battlefield while paralysis and a burn severely reduce Mega Tyranitar's ability to sweep late-game. I'd remove this, it can just go in the usage tips.

Moves
========

* Stealth Rock chips the opponents when they switch in and can break Dragonite's Multiscale or Breloom's Focus Sash.
* Stone Edge allows Tyranitar to hit Bug-, Fire-, Flying-, and Ice-type pokemon such as Volcarona and Kyurem-B while being Tyranitar's main STAB attack and form of damage output.
* Thunder Wave gives Tyranitar a form of speed control allowing it to cripple offensive foes such as Mega Altaria, by slowing it down.
* Fire Blast allows Tyranitar to hit annoying Steel-types such as Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor which would otherwise wall Tyranitar.

Set Details
========

* The EV spread and Sassy nature allows Tyranitar to maximize its special bulk, letting it more easily take on special threats such as Hydreigon and Volcarona. The Sassy nature does not sacrifice the power of Tyranitar's Fire Blast, however, if it decides not to run Fire Blast a Careful nature should be ran to not make Tyranitar slower.

Usage Tips
========

* Tyranitar should keep up Stealth Rock through out the game. When a Defogger comes into clear hazards Tyranitar should be switched in to take advantage of the forced switch to set up Stealth Rock again. Probably need to explicitly state that Tyranitar threatens Flying-types with its STAB Stone Edge, which is why they'd switch out. (Remove the bullet below this since you can just meld it into this bullet)
* Since Tyranitar is a Rock-type Pokemon it has an advantage over many Defoggers such as Zapdos and Mandibuzz and can easily switch in on them and use that pressure to reset Stealth Rock or cripple the opponent with a status condition.
* Tyranitar can cripple setup sweepers such as Mega Altaria with Thunder Wave, allowing teammates such as Greninja to outspeed it even with a few Dragon Dances. This is just a repeat of what you wrote in the moves section. Talk in more detail about when to take advantage of Thunder Wave.
This is kind of just the same thing written twice, remove the second sentence.
* Tyranitar is a great special sponge, it can easily and should switch in on non-Supereffective attacks such as Kyurem-B's Ice Beam and Mega Pidgeot's Hurricane.
* Since Tyranitar is the a fantastic special wall it should not be recklessly switching into powerful attacks in matchups where Tyranitar is a key part in victory such as against Flying-type teams. Examples of what it shouldn't switch in against vs. Flying?
* Tyranitar does not appreciate getting its Leftovers removed by Knock Off as it is Tyranitar's only form of recovery. Tyranitar should switch into a teammate such as Mega Sableye to preserve its item in these situations. Examples of Pokemon it shouldn't stay in on in fear of Knock Off?
* Tyranitar is the teams Stealth Rock setter and can spread paralysis, so you should preserve it through the match to check fast pokemon with Thunder Wave and to set up Stealth Rock again. This is just repetition of the beginning bullets, remove.
* If threats such as Volcarona and Mega Charizard Y are still alive Tyranitar should be preserved in order to check those threats, even if that means not setting up Stealth Rock that game. I wouldn't say "don't set up Stealth Rock bc you need to keep Tyranitar healthy" bc that's a bad tip.

Team Options
========

* Mandibuzz forms a hazard setting and removal core with Tyranitar, while also being a Fighting-type neutrality for Tyranitar allowing it to switch into powerful STAB attacks such as Infernape's Close Combat.
Mega Sableye can also switch in on Pokemon that try to spread a status condition by bouncing it back at them due to Magic Bounce. The 1st and 3rd sentence say the same thing (magic bounce) just add reflecting status to the first sentence
Don't say "annoying"
Change Koko to Bulu.
Don't say annoying.

Don't say annoying.
Rephrase this "Crunch can be run as an additional STAB in order to hit... however, you lose out on..."

Set Details
========

* Maximum Speed and Attack investment allows Mega Tyranitar to be as fast and strong as possible.
* A Jolly nature allows Mega Tyranitar to outspeed key threats such as Tapu Koko and Greninja at +1 Speed while being able to outspeed pokemon such as Jolly Bisharp before a Dragon Dance.

Usage Tips
========

* If something that can stop Mega Tyranitar, even after it has set up such as Skarmory, it should not bother setting up Dragon Dance until the threat has been removed from the field by a teammate or weakened enough for Tyranitar to handle.
* Only setup Tyranitar after all of its checks and counters have been taken care of by teammates such as Skarmory and Celesteela or being weakened to the point where Mega Tyranitar can beat them. This is just a repeat of the previous bullet
* Tyranitar should switch out on all status moves, to a teammate such as Mega Sableye, as all status conditions threaten it and handicap its ability to sweep. Double mega? :megathink:
* If a Mega Tyranitar is threatened by a Pokemon on the opposing team such as Tapu Bulu or Azumarill it should either predict the incoming Pokemon and try to damage them as much as possible or switch into a teammate that can wall and or beat that threat. This is again a repeat essentially of previous bullets...
* Since Mega Tyranitar is best used as a late-game cleaner, you should try to keep it as healthy as possible to give it the best chance to sweep. This means making sure it does not take to much damage and avoiding all status conditions if possible.

Team Options
========
Alolan Muk
This doesn't really make sense. "They're both checked by the same Pokemon, therefore they're good partners!"

Other Options

Dark
--------
* Z-Stone EdgeRockinium Z plus Dragon Dance sweeper Tyranitar is a set used can be utilized on Hyper Offensive Dark-type teams, and allows Tyranitar to become a potent sweeper allowing it to OHKO Pokemon such as Gliscor with +1 Z-Stone Edge.
Are you sure these EVs are correct? If you're a +Def nature, you only need 24 Def to live Specs Secret Sword. Even if you're using 88 Def, you still have a 50% chance to be OHKO'd after rocks. Honestly, I'm not sure if this should even be in OO. Fighting isn't very relevant this gen so it's only helping with keldeo on water.

Checks and Counters
===================

Dark
--------
**Fighting-types**: Fighting-type attacks do 4x damage to Tyranitar due to its crippling weakness to the type and have a hard time setting up and threatening pokemon in this type, even unset Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Terrakion and Mach Punch Breloom can easily OHKO both sets.

**Ground-types**: Ground-type Pokemon resist Tyranitar's main STAB in Stone Edge and can easily threaten it back with their powerful Ground-type STAB. Hippowdon deserves a special mention as not only can it really easily wall all variants of Tyranitar but it can also phase it out with Whirlwind or status it with Toxic, severely limiting its time in battle. However bulky Ground-type Pokemon such as Hippowdon can be threatened by Mega Tyranitar if it has Ice Punch.

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Physically Defensive walls such as Ferrothorn and Hippowdon can easily take Tyranitar on even with a boost and threaten them with their STAB attacks such as Power Whip, Earthquake, and Scald respectively. These pokemon often carry status conditions and in Ferrothorn's case Leech Seed, which only allows them to more easily take it on. Ferro isn't the best example since both sets are running a fire attack. Just use P2 instead.

Talk about burns and paralysis inhibiting its ability to sweep w/ mttar.

It doesn't really make sense to say Water-types are threatening with their non-Water-type STAB (Secret Sword and Play Rough) when it's already weak to water moves..

Bulu doesn't need its own mention

**Revenge Killers**: Faster Pokemon/scarves - talking about mttar specifically (like bulu)

Just remove this. The Pokemon you listed are threatening here because they carry other SE STAB - lucario could technically go under fighting-types and exca under ground-types. The other Steel-types are threatened by its Fire coverage anyways.

[OVERVIEW]

Dark

* Tyranitar is the premier Stealth Rock setter for Dark-type teams due to its great natural bulk and its ability as a lead with tons of useful utility and coverage moves such as Toxic, Thunder Wave and Fire Blast.
* Mega Tyranitar is a potent setup sweeper with access to great coverage options, allowing it to take on threatening types such as Steel and Ground. Steel- and Ground-type Pokemon. doesn't make sense, gp thing
* Tyranitar can cripple Pokemon <examples> with Thunder Wave, allowing other teammates to more easily outspeed them key threats. due to Thunder Wave.
* Due to Tyranitar's phenomenal natural bulk along with sandstorm boosting its Special Defense, it can act as a defensive pivot and blanket check to many Special attackers such as Latios and Nihilego. Its natural bulk also allows it to more readily set up with Dragon Dance against weaker Pokemon such as Klefki and Zapdos. switch zapdos to a different example like alolan muk or just drop the second example alltogether. ttar can't switch into subtoxic zapdos without being heavily crippled
* Tyranitar's wide move pool allow it to function as either a utility Pokemon or a setup sweeper very successfully, being a Stealth Rock setter and Dragon Dance sweeper with access to fantastic coverage such as Ice Punch for Ground-types and Fire Punch for Steel-types.
* Due to Tyranitar's rather poor defensive typing it is left weak to many common Ooffensive types, giving Tyranitar trouble setting up against the wide variety of Pokemon that run attacks that hit it for Supereffective damage such as Terrakion's Close Combat and Tapu Bulu's Wood Hammer. ok this is really wordy. i'd say something like "Tyranitar can potentially have a tough time setting up due to a poor defensive typing that makes it susceptible to common attackers like Terrakion and Tapu Bulu" Dark-type teams already are weak to Fighting-type Pokemon such as Keldeo and Terrakion, which Tyranitar is weak to and stacks on the teams Fighting-type weakness. id just drop this, you already mentioned its weakness to fighting types in the sentence before and it just looks like uneccessary fluff. also hard to read lol
* Mega Tyranitar is a great Ooffensive Pokemon however its rather middling natural Speed leaves it weak to many common Offensive attackers such as Mega Lopunny's High Jump Kick and Choice Scarf Excadrill's Earthquake even after a Dragon Dance boost.

confusing. make it "Mega Tyranitar's mediocre Speed stat leaves it weak to common revenge killers like Mega Lopunny and Excadrill, even at +1."

moves & set details have fine content but can be hard to follow at times, i would recommend reading through some of this.

Usage Tips
========

* Tyranitar should keep up Stealth Rock throughout the game(throughout is one word.). When a Defogger comes into clear hazards Tyranitar should be switched in to take advantage of the forced switch, due to its STAB Stone Edge, to set up Stealth Rock again. forced switch? seems more like a free switch if something is using defog here. i would really recommend adding examples of Defog users that ttar beats since some of them (like skarmory) aren't beaten by stone edge, so this can seem misleading.
* Thunder Wave should be used against faster threats that Tyranitar can not OHKO with Stone Edge, such as Belly Drum Azumarill, allowing teammates such as Mandibuzz and Greninja more easily check it. makes no sense. mandibuzz will already be EV'd so that it can outpace and ko a boosted azumarill with foul play and greninja can die to +6 aqua jet with rocks up or minimal chip. i'd recommend changing azumarill to a different example.
* Switch Tyranitar out on predicted Fighting-type attacks from Pokemon like Terrakion's Close Combat to teammates such as Mega Sableye and Mandibuzz. just a gp thing. having "predicted Fighting-type attacks" is important here since if you know the fighting-type is locked into a fighting-type attack you'll never be sending ttar out anyway.
* Tyranitar is a great special sponge,; it can easily and should switch in on non-Supereffective attacksattacks it is not weak to, such as Kyurem-B's Ice Beam and Mega Pidgeot's Hurricane. 4 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar: 138-162 (34.1 - 40%) -- guaranteed 3HKO. "sponge" is not the word i'd use here, especially since you have to watch out for outrage kyub on ice and icium/band on dragon. change the example to something like nihilego. also this is not really a tip lol, maybe mention capitalizing on the free switch by setting up sr?
* Since Tyranitar is the a fantastic special wall it should not be recklessly switching into powerful attacks in matchups where Tyranitar is a key part in victory such as against Flying-type teams such as Mega Charizard Y's Focus Blast. very hard to follow. change this to something like "Preserve Tyranitar against types like Flying and (add another example), where it comes in handy against threats like Mega Charizard Y and (example), respectively."
* Tyranitar does not appreciate getting its Leftovers removed by Knock Off as it is Tyranitar's only form of recovery. Tyranitar should switch into a teammate such as Mega Sableye against Pokemon like Seismitoad which carry Knock Off to preserve its item in these situations. pretty irrelevant example and too long/confusing to read. rewrite it to something like this "Because of Tyranitar's reliance on Leftovers as recovery, utilize teammates like Mega Sableye to absorb moves like Knock Off and Trick."

Team Options
========

* Mandibuzz forms a hazard setting and removal core with Tyranitar, while also being a Fighting-type neutrality for Tyranitar allowing it to switch into powerful STAB attacks such as Infernape's Close Combat.
* Mega Sableye is a Fighting-type immunity for Tyranitar and Magic Bounce allows it to deflect hazards and status conditions such as Toxic Spikes from Toxapex and Toxic from Porygon2, respectively. Mega Sableye can also check physical attackers for Tyranitar with Will-O-Wisp, making them unable to wallbreak successfully.
* Mega Sharpedo appreciates Tyranitar's ability to set up Stealth Rock, as it can clean late-game easier with the chip damage Stealth Rock provides. Mega Sharpedo can also take care of Fighting-types such as Keldeo with Psychic Fangs at +1 Speed, which Tyranitar struggles against.

* Greninja is a nice form of Speed control being able to pivot in Tyranitar with U-turn, outspeed and OHKO many threats to Tyranitar such as Dragonite after Multiscale is broken and Tapu Bulu. Greninja appreciates Tyranitar's ability to switch into strong special attackers such as Volcarona lacking Bug Buzz. replace 1st sentence with this "* Greninja is a great Choice Scarf user, able to pivot Tyranitar in with U-turn, outspeed and OHKO Dragonite after Multiscale is broken, and revenge kill most Tapu Bulu variants."
* Bisharp can break past Fairy-type Pokemon such as Klefki and Clefable for Tyranitar. Bisharp can also threaten Defoggers such as Zapdos with Defiant, limiting the amount of times Defog can be successfully used, which limits the amount of times Tyranitar needs to set up Stealth Rock. fluff
* hydreigon

i have limited use with mega ttar so i'll not comment on that bit. overall a lack of good examples imo so maybe work on that a bit, otherwise gj!

* Fire Blast allows Tyranitar to hit annoying Steel-types such as Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor which would otherwise wall Tyranitar.

* Tyranitar should keep up Stealth Rock throughout the game. When a Defogger comes into clear hazards Tyranitar should be switched in to take advantage of the forced switch, due to its STAB Stone Edge, to set up Stealth Rock again. *This is a bit vague, it implies all defoggers are flying types. * Thunder Wave should be used against faster threats that Tyranitar can not OHKO with Stone Edge, such as Belly Drum Azumarill, allowing teammates such as Mandibuzz and Greninja more easily check it. *Does Azumarill is a terrible example since this only applies if it's trying to set up on Tyranitar directly. Mandibuzz should be outspeeding adamant Azumarill at the very least anyways.
* Switch Tyranitar out on predicted Fighting-type attacks from Pokemon like Terrakion to teammates such as Mega Sableye and Mandibuzz. *Remove this bullet
* Tyranitar is a great special sponge; and should switch in on attacks it is not weak to, such as Kyurem-B's Ice Beam and Mega Pidgeot's Hurricane.
* Preserve Tyranitar against types like Flying and Normal, where it comes in handy against threats like Mega Charizard Y and Porygon-Z, respectively.

* Choice Specs Hydreigon appreciates Stealth Rock that Tyranitar provides as it can OHKO threats with Draco Meteor such as Dragonite and Mega Venusaur with Stealth Rock chip. *Choice Specs Hydreigon is a very specific set to discuss. You should talk about Hydreigon more generally as a Water/Grass resist and Ground immunity to support Tyranitar as well.

* Dragon Dance boosts Tyranitar's Attack and Speed by 1 Stage allowing it to outspeed Pokemon such as Tapu Koko with 1 boost.
* Stone Edge is Mega Tyranitar's main STAB attack and allows it to hit and OHKO Ice-, Flying-, Fire-, and Bug-types such as Kyurem Black and Volcarona. *Again you can just say Stone Edge is Mega Tyranitar's strongest STAB attack. Examples aren't really necessary here.
Crunch however means that Tyranitar loses out on being able to run Ice Punch not allowing it to threaten Ground-types such as Garchomp. *Crunch Mega Tyranitar can still threaten Garchomp, it just can't OHKO it. Clarify that.

* Stop saying "annoying"

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

* Tyranitar should not try to attack or setup on Pokemon that can threaten it such as Tapu Bulu and Excadrill. In these situations Tyranitar should switch into a Defensive teammate that can handle these threats such as Mandibuzz and Mega Sableye. *This entire bullet is unnecessary.
* Against passive Pokemon such as Klefki, which Tyranitar is not threatened by at all, should and can easily setup Dragon Dances to sweep through the team.
* If something that can stop Mega Tyranitar, even after it has set up such as Skarmory, it should not bother setting up Dragon Dance until the threat has been removed from the field by a teammate or weakened enough for Tyranitar to handle. *This is overwritten and awkward, just say "Wait for Mega Tyranitar's checks, such as Skarmory or Choice Scarf Keldeo, to be removed before attempting to set up" Skarmory's also not the best example, since if they switch to it you get a free +1 Stone Edge / Fire Punch against it.
* Tyranitar should switch out on all status moves, to a teammate such as Alolan Muk, as all status conditions threaten it and handicap its ability to sweep.
* Since Mega Tyranitar is best used as a late-game cleaner, you should try to keep it as healthy as possible to give it the best chance to sweep. This means making sure it does not take to much damage and avoiding all status conditions if possible.

* Add a bullet about when and how to leverage Mega Tyranitar's bulk to set up and sweep; and when to preserve it as a check for an offensive threat (Volcarona, Kyurem-B)

Team Options
========
* Alolan Muk is a nice switch in to Fairy-type attacks and can Knock Off items such as Hydreigon's Choice Specs, giving Tyranitar an easier time setting up Stealth Rock. Muk Alola also appreciates Mega Tyranitar's ability to get rid of Flying-types such as Zapdos for it. *Don't think you can just copypasta the alola muk bullet from the last set and I won't notice Q_Q
* Hydreigon is a fantastic Special wallbreaker that is capable of taking on Defensive walls such as Ferrothorn and Quagsire for it, taking care of walls that Mega Tyranitar has difficulty breaking past.

Dark
--------
* Rockium Z plus Dragon Dance can be utilized on Hyper Offensive Dark-type teams, and allows Tyranitar to become a potent sweeper allowing it to OHKO Pokemon such as Gliscor with +1 Z-Stone Edge. This set is typically ran so Mega Sharpedo can be used as the teams Mega Pokemon and Krookodile as the Stealth Rock setter. *Talk about the flaws of this set i.e. slow as shit
* Choice Band allows Tyranitar to become a powerful wallbreaker, making it very hard to switch in. This set 2HKO's Defensive Skarmory and Celesteela, which Flying-type teams typically use as the Tyranitar answer.

*Add a bullet for alternative move options on the specially defensive set over Thunder Wave; Pursuit / Protect / Toxic

Checks and Counters
===================

Dark
--------
**Fighting-types**: Fighting-type attacks do 4x damage to Tyranitar due to its crippling weakness to the type and have a hard time setting up and threatening pokemon in this type, even unset Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Terrakion and Mach Punch Breloom can easily OHKO both sets. *This isn't english. Just say "Tyranitar struggles against Fighting-types such as Terrakion and Breloom that resist both its STABs and deal 4x damage to it in return." Also Breloom doesn't OHKO Mega Tyranitar with Mach Punch fwiw.

*No, Ice Punch Mega Tyranitar can't even 2HKO Hippowdon at +1. Just cut the last line.

**Physically Defensive Walls**: Physically Defensive walls such as Porygon2 and Hippowdon can easily take Tyranitar on even with a boost and threaten them with their STAB attacks such as Power Whip, Earthquake, and Scald respectively. These pokemon often carry status conditions and in Ferrothorn's case Leech Seed, which only allows them to more easily take it on. *This line needs to be rewritten since you removed Ferrothorn from the initial examples and I suppose another pokemon that uses Scald (Toxapex?)

**Status Conditions**: Both Tyranitar and Mega Tyranitar do not appreciate status conditions, especially Mega Tyranitar as they all affect its ability to sweep and Toxic poison puts both on a very limited timer. Mega Tyranitar specifically rely on Speed and Attack to pull off a sweep so these two status conditions prevent it from effectively sweeping opposing teams. Porygon2 can easily tank an attack thrown at them and cripple Tyranitar with Toxic or Thunder Wave. *Cut the last two lines.

**Water-types**: Many offensive Water-type Pokemon threaten Tyranitar with their STAB attacks such as Manaphy's Surf. Defensive Water-types such as Gastrodon can also burn Tyranitar with Scald making it unable to sweep or Toxapex being able to Haze away its boosts.

**Revenge Killers**: Due to Mega Tyranitar's lower natural Speed it can be easily revenge even after a Dragon Dance boost by common Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu and naturally fast pokemon like Mega Lopunny.
Tag me when all of these changes are implemented and I'll give it 2/3.

I'd also read through and look for phrasing errors or awkward language.

Overview:
- Seems weird to talk about how the Rock typing helps with Fire-types and then immediately jump to that the Rock typing sucks. Might want to reword this part.

Moves:
- No reason to have Careful on the set itself when there's no alternative to Fire Blast
- Rock Slide is a pretty decent option over Stone Edge.

Dark
========

Tyranitar is the premier Stealth Rock setter for Dark-type teams due to its great natural bulk and its ability proficiency as a lead with tons of useful utility and coverage moves such as Toxic, Thunder Wave, (AC) and Fire Blast. Mega Tyranitar is can also serve as a potent setup sweeper with access to great coverage options, allowing it to take on threatening types such as Steel and Ground. Due to Tyranitar's phenomenal natural bulk along with the sandstorm it summons with Sand Stream boosting its Special Defense, it can act as a defensive pivot and blanket check to many special attackers such as Latios and Nihilego. Its natural bulk also allows it to more readily set up with Dragon Dance against weaker Pokemon such as Klefki and Alolan Muk. Tyranitar's decent offensive stats even when left uninvested prevent it from being passive on defensive sets, (AC) allowing it to still threaten hazard removal removers Pokemon such as Zapdos, Mantine, and Armaldo. Tyranitar's part Rock typing gives it resistances to Fire-type attacks, (AC) allowing it to take on Pokemon such as Victini's V-Create (only bc you say 'allowing it to take on Pokemon' and not 'take moves' or w/e.). Mega Tyranitar's wide move pool movepool allow it to function as either a utility Pokemon or a setup sweeper very successfully, being a Stealth Rock setter and Dragon Dance sweeper with access to fantastic coverage such as Ice Punch for Ground-types and Fire Punch for Steel-types. However, Mega Tyranitar's mediocre Speed stat leaves it weak susceptible to common revenge killers like Mega Lopunny and Choice Scarf Excadrill, even at +1. Due to Tyranitar's rather poor defensive typing, (AC) it is left weak to many common offensive types and stacking the Fighting-type weakness, giving Tyranitar trouble setting up against the a wide variety of Pokemon such as Terrakion and Tapu Bulu. Since Tyranitar does not have a solid form of recovery, (AC) chip damage from entry hazards and status conditions such as being poisoned and burned affect Tyranitar's longevity. Sweeper Dragon Dance Mega Tyranitar also does not appreciate status conditions, (AC) as they all negatively affect its ability to sweep late-game.

Stealth Rock chips the opponents foes when they switch in and can break abilities and items such as Dragonite's Multiscale or and Breloom's Focus Sash. Stone Edge is Tyranitar's main STAB move and form of damage output and allows Tyranitar to hit Pokemon such as Volcarona, Zapdos, and Kyurem-B while being Tyranitar's main STAB attack and form of damage output. Rock Slide is a more reliable Rock-type STAB move for Tyranitar that can be run over Stone Edge. Thunder Wave gives Tyranitar a form of speed control, allowing it to cripple offensive foes such as offensive (feels kind of redundant, though this change is optional.) Dragon Dance Mega Altaria. Fire Blast allows Tyranitar to hit Steel-types such as Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor which that would otherwise wall Tyranitar. Rock Slide is a more reliable Rock-type STAB for Tyranitar that can be run over Stone Edge. (only since it's slashed with stone edge)

Set Details
========

The EV spread and Sassy nature allows Tyranitar to maximize its Tyranitar's special bulk, letting it more easily take on special threats such as Hydreigon and Volcarona. The Sassy nature also does not sacrifice the power of Tyranitar's Fire Blast. Sand Stream sets up sand, (AC) which gives Tyranitar an increase in Special Defense when the sand is up. Leftovers gives Tyranitar passive recovery, allowing it to continually switch into battle, tank attacks, and set up Stealth Rock.

Usage Tips
========

Tyranitar should keep up Stealth Rock throughout the game. When a Flying-type Defogger comes into in to clear hazards, (AC) Tyranitar should be switched in to take advantage of the forced switch, due to its STAB Stone Edge, to set up Stealth Rock again. Thunder Wave should be used against faster threats that Tyranitar can not OHKO with Stone Edge, such as Latios, allowing teammates such as Mandibuzz and Greninja to more easily check it. Tyranitar is a great special sponge; (remove semicolon) and should switch in on attacks it is not weak to, such as Kyurem-B's Ice Beam and Mega Pidgeot's Hurricane. Preserve Tyranitar against types like Flying and Normal, where it comes in handy against threats like Mega Charizard Y and Porygon-Z, respectively. Because of Tyranitar's reliance on Leftovers as recovery, utilize teammates like Mega Sableye to absorb moves like Knock Off and Trick. (might just be me, but this sounds more like a team options bit than a usage tips bit.) Sand Stream can be used to chip Focus Sash and Multiscale from Pokemon users such as Breloom and Dragonite, allowing teammates to more easily revenge kill these Pokemon. Tyranitar should avoid status conditions, (AC) as they affect its longevity in battle due to lack of no reliable recovery. Since Tyranitar does not have access to reliable recovery it should avoid switching into entry hazards and weak attacks that its teammates like Mandibuzz can take care of.

Team Options
========

Mandibuzz forms a hazard setting and removal core with Tyranitar, (RC) while also being possessing a Fighting-type neutrality for Tyranitar, (AC) allowing it to switch into powerful STAB attacks such as Infernape's Close Combat. Mandibuzz also forms a nice defensive core with Tyranitar, (AC) as it is a fantastic physical wall. Mega Sableye is possesses a Fighting-type immunity for Tyranitar and Magic Bounce allows it to deflect hazards and status conditions such as Toxic Spikes from Toxapex and Toxic from Porygon2. Mega Sableye can also check threaten physical attackers for Tyranitar with Will-O-Wisp, making leaving them unable to wallbreak successfully. Mega Sharpedo appreciates Tyranitar's ability to set up Stealth Rock, as it can clean easier with the chip damage Stealth Rock provides. Mega Sharpedo can also take care of Fighting-types such as Keldeo with Psychic Fangs at +1 Speed, which Tyranitar struggles against. Alolan Muk is a nice switch in to Fairy-type attacks and can Knock Off remove items such as Hydreigon's Choice Specs with Knock Off, giving Tyranitar an easier time setting up Stealth Rock. Greninja is a great Choice Scarf user, able to pivot Tyranitar in with U-turn, outspeed and OHKO Dragonite after Multiscale is broken, and revenge kill Tapu Bulu, (AC). (remove period) Greninja and appreciates Tyranitar's ability to switch into strong special attackers such as Volcarona lacking Bug Buzz. Greninja can also form a hazard stacking core with Tyranitar, (AC) as it has access to Spikes and Toxic Spikes. Bisharp can break past Fairy-type Pokemon such as Klefki and Clefable for Tyranitar. Bisharp and can also threaten Defoggers such as Zapdos with due to Defiant. Hydreigon is a fantastic special wallbreaker that can take care of Pokemon such as Skarmory for Tyranitar and can switch directly into Water- and Grass-type attacks, (AC) as it resists them, (AC) and can also switch into Ground-type attacks for Tyranitar due to Levitate for it.

Fire Punch allows Tyranitar to hit Steel-type Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, which would otherwise wall it. Earthquake rounds out coverage with Stone Edge and allows it to hit Electric-, Rock-, Poison-, and Steel-type Pokemon such as Alolan Golem, Toxapex, and Excadrill. Ice Punch allows Tyranitar to hit Ground-type Pokemon such as Hippowdon and Landorus-T, (AC) which would otherwise wall it preventing them from walling it. (optional change, but it keeps it from reading as repetitive.) Crunch is Tyranitar's main Dark-type STAB and allows it to threaten Psychic- and Ghost-type Pokemon such as Mew and Hoopa, (AC). (remove period) Crunch however though opting for Crunch means that Tyranitar loses out on being able to run Ice Punch not allowing it to threaten Ground-types as well such as Garchomp with Ice Punch. Stealth Rock is an option over Fire Punch for teams that need role compression, however but this means Tyranitar will be walled by Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, which would otherwise be no problem for it.

Set Details

Maximum Speed and Attack investment allows Mega Tyranitar to be as fast and strong as possible. A Jolly nature allows Mega Tyranitar to outspeed key threats such as Tapu Koko and Greninja at +1 Speed while being able to outspeed pokemon such as Jolly Bisharp before a Dragon Dance. Tyranitarite allows Tyranitar to Mega Evolve, (AC) making it a more formidable sweeper with a decent increase in Speed, Attack, (AC) and improving its overall bulk. Sand Stream boosts Tyranitar's Special Defense by 1 stage and chips the foe at the end of each turn for 5 turns.

Usage Tips
========

Against passive Pokemon such as Klefki, which Tyranitar is not threatened by at all, Mega Tyranitar should and can easily setup use Dragon Dances to sweep through the team. Wait for Mega Tyranitar's checks, such as Choice Scarf Keldeo, to be removed before attempting to set up. Mega Tyranitar should switch out on all status moves, (RC) and into a teammate such as Alolan Muk, as all status conditions threaten it and handicap hinder (again, optional.) its ability to sweep. Since Mega Tyranitar is best used as a late-game cleaner, you should try to keep it as healthy as possible to give it the best chance to sweep. This means making sure it does not take too much damage and avoiding all status conditions if possible. Mega Tyranitar should be preserved to help check threats such as Kyurem-B and Volcarona before attempting to setup a sweep. Stealth Rock should be used to capitalize on when Mega Tyranitar forces a switch, giving it a free turn to setup Stealth Rock as this will give it a free turn to do so.

Team Options

Greninja acts as a nice blanket check to all offensive Pokemon that threaten Mega Tyranitar due to its great coverage in moves like Gunk Shot to hit Fairy-types like Tapu Koko and Ice Beam to hit Ground-type Pokemon such as Garchomp. Krookodile allows Mega Tyranitar to run the offensive Dragon Dance set because it takes the role of Stealth Rock setter. Krookodile can also Knock Off remove items that allows Mega Tyranitar to more easily sweep such as Greninja's Choice Scarf with Knock Off, and Taunt other slower leads pokemon such as Skarmory to prevent them from setting up Stealth Rock, allowing Mega Tyranitar to more easily set up. Hydreigon is a fantastic special wallbreaker that is capable of taking on defensive walls that Mega Tyranitar has difficulty with breaking through such as Ferrothorn and Quagsire for it, taking care of walls that Mega Tyranitar has difficulty breaking past. Bisharp can setup set Stealth Rock for Mega Tyranitar, (AC) as which it allows it to freely run Fire Punch, (AC) and Bisharp can also paralyze faster threats such as Terrakion with Thunder Wave for Mega Tyranitar, (AC). (remove period) Bisharp and can also act as an excellent Swords Dance sweeper alongside Mega Tyranitar, as they both share similar checks and appreciate the other being able to wear them down.

Protect and Toxic can be used over Thunder Wave and Fire Blast to scout which move Choice-(AH)locked Pokemon such as Greninja and Heracross used. [OVERVIEW]

Dark
========

Tyranitar is the premier Stealth Rock setter for Dark-type teams due to its great natural bulk and proficiency as a lead with tons of useful utility and coverage moves such as Toxic, Thunder Wave, and Fire Blast, (comma) Mega Tyranitar and its Mega Evolution is a potent setup sweeper with access to great coverage options, allowing it to take on threatening types such as Steel and Ground. Tyranitar's part Rock typing gives it resistances to Fire-type attacks, allowing it to take on Pokemon such as Victini.
