My team consists of a Charizard-MY, Tyranitar, Tapu Fini, Tangrowth, Toxapex and Garchomp.

Introduction

I've been using this team for a while now, and I've polished most of its problems. It's a balanced team that relies on pivoting, checking and hazards. I've been on and off with Garchomp and Dugtrio, who worked pretty well as a revenge killer, but lacked Stealth Rocks when my team struggled against Focus Sash users/Suicide Leads like Smeargle and Greninja, so I settled with Garchomp.

The Team

charizard-megay.gif

Charizard-Mega-Y @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Solar Beam
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Roost

I chose Charizard-MY because it's a great wallbreaker. It has an outstanding Special Attack stat, and it's just a bit slower than Garchomp. It serves as cleanup, to sweep after entry hazards and pivots have softened up the enemy Pokemon. Flamethrower gets 135 Base Power and 100% accuracy in sun, which is insane. Solar Beam provides much needed coverage against Water and Rock types such as Tapu Fini, Greninja and Tyranitar, leaving it only weak to Electric types such as Tapu Koko.

tyranitar.gif

Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rock Slide
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Earthquake

I chose Tyranitar and Charizard as my core, as they synergized well.
Tyranitar cancels out Charizard's sun, which means ememy fire types can't take advantage of the 50% damage boost, and Charizard can cancel out Tyranitar's sandstorm. The sandstorm from Sand Stream can chip away at focus sashers/sturdy users, and provides some chip damage, which helps even more when I have entry hazards, too. Rock slide is an alternative to Stone Edge, which has 20% accuracy for me (seriously, I hit my Focus Blasts more than I hit Stone Edges). Crunch is a strong Dark stab, and Pursuit means that Tyranitar can switch into a Pokemon with low health and set up Sand + Kill a Pokemon that the enemy is trying to preserve (a Toxapex w/ Regenerator, etx). Earthquake provides coverage against Pokemon like Toxapex, Heatran, Charizard-MX, Diancie, and other Fire & Steel types.

tapufini.gif

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Nature's Madness
- Moonblast
- Defog

Since my core is weak to Water and Charizard is demolished by Stealth Rocks, I needed a Defogger/Rapid Spinner. I chose Tapu Fini because it sported Water typing and access to Defog. Therefore, Tapu Fini's role is my Defogger. Taunt helps against Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Toxapex so that when I remove their hazards, they don't just put them up again immediately after I remove them. Nature's Madness helps against those bulky hazard users by halving their health. This can help force a switch so my hazards can do work. Moonblast is a good stab attack, Scald was another option, but the Pokemon it covered weren't that big of threats to my team, I needed coverage against Dragon, Dark and Fighting types, who rip Tyranitar apart. I don't need burning against walls because taking the turns to spam Scald, hoping for a burn, I could be Taunting/using Nature's Madness. Defog removes hazards and Screens, which I have discussed in this paragraph already.

tangrowth.gif

Tangrowth @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 212 Def / 48 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Leech Seed
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Tangrowth is a great pivot. Since my team is based around forcing switches to soften up the enemy team with hazards and pivots, and then sweep, Tangrowth was a great pick. Tangrowth's role is a pivot, forcing switches and walling Pokemon such as Non-HP Ice Landorus-T. Giga Drain is Tangrowth's stab and semi-reliable source of recovery. Knock off can scout for Z-Moves and break walls' by knocking off their Leftovers/Black Sludge. Leech Seed replaced Sleep Powder, as having Toxic Spikes up from Toxapex would make Sleep Powder only usable against flying Pokemon/Steel/Poison Types, so I use Leech Seed, forcing Pokemon to switch, and hurt another Pokemon with hazards, or stay in and die from Toxic Spikes and Leech Seed. Hidden Power Ice is coverage, destroying Pokemon such as Gliscor, Landorus-T, Garchomp, and other Grass types such as Tapu Bulu.

toxapex.gif

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 192 Def / 64 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Haze
- Recover
- Toxic Spikes

Toxapex is another Toxic Spikes setter/pivot for my team. Tangrowth and Toxapex are a semi-core, they cover most of each others weaknesses, except for Toxapex's glaring weakness to Psychic types, who is checked by Tyranitar, who is immune to them, and then Tyranitar can tackle them with Crunch or Pursuit. Toxapex can pivot back and forth with Tangrowth, checking enemy Pokemon, forcing switches, and healing with Regenerator while slowly chipping their health away. Scald is a great stab for a stalling Pokemon like Toxapex, and can deal with Landorus-T pretty well when Toxapex is cornered. Haze is so Pokemon can't set up on Toxapex, including Quiver Dance Volcarona, Dragon Dance users, Calm Mind users, and pretty much any set-up sweepers. Recover is a reliable source of healing, paired along side Black Sludge and insane Defense and Special Defense, Toxapex is an almost unstoppable wall.

garchomp.gif

Garchomp @ Dragonium Z
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Swords Dance

It was between Garchomp and Dugtrio. I chose Garchomp because of Stealth Rocks, superior stats, and Dragon Type coverage. Garchomp serves as an offensive Stealth Rock setter. I assume I will get a reccomendation for Garchomp to use Focus Sash, but I went for Dragonium Z instead because I would often get checked by Levitate users and Flying Types. I wanted to have a powerful Z-Move as a sort of last laugh from Garchomp. I used Stealth Rock as an additional Hazard, which I have already explained a million times how it's important. I ran Earthquake, which is a necessity for Garchomp. Outrage can rip the enemy Pokemon apart if their Fairy Types have been killed off, especially if Garchomp sets up a Swords Dance, which can be used as setup against other Hazard setters.

Conclusion

My team is based around pivoting and luring in threats to my sweepers, and softening up enemies with Hazards and pivots so my sweepers have no problem OHKOing everything. I have 5 years of competitive experience, but I only really got into teambuilding recently. Thank you for reading my wall of text.

Hey solid Team but I have a few recommendations.

  • I wouldn't run Tapu Fini because Misty Terrain weakens your Garchomp's dragon stab moves. I would recommend Mew > Tapu Fini as it is a great Zygarde answer provides Defog support and it can Wisp offensive threats. Mew can also deal with Medicham well which Toxapex cannot. And you don't need another water resist due to having Tangrowth, Toxapex and Sun from your Zard-Y.

Mew @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 240 HP / 156 Def / 112 Spe
Timid Nature
- Ice Beam
- Will-O-Wisp
- Soft-Boiled
- Defog

  • Next I would suggest using the Assault Vest tangrowth set because it walls Greninja and Tapu Koko better which your team needs. The set is pretty self-explanatory. The 28 defensive Evs let it live a +1 devasting drake at full from Zygarde.

Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 28 Def / 228 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Hidden Power Ice
- Earthquake

  • I understand why you have Rock Slide for the better accuracy but I would recommend Stone Edge as it hit's so much harder especially on Pokemon that resist stab rock too. The whole point of this Tyranitar is to dent holes and Stone Edge helps it do that.

  • Also maybe run Shed Shell on your Toxapex because Dugtrio is annoying for your team and if it traps your Toxapex you lose your Regenerator core. This is optional. If you find you don't need the item then Black Sludge is the better option or Eject button if you use Duggy.
Other than that your team is fine but I do see a Mega Pinsir weakness if it sets up as you don't have a reliable switch in. I would suggest trying Scarf Chomp as it is your only way to revenge kill it, otherwise it sweeps. You need to consider ways to deal with it as it is a major threat and very common. A good Pokemon to wall it would be Celesteela which also works well with Toxapex.

Hi.

I will not consider Duggy in any part of this rate as I'm pretty sure that Arena Trap is going to be banned and the suspect test does not allow Arena Trap anyway.

Your team has a few problems, the biggest being that you have no Steel types. Steel types are mandatory in any OU team because of the defensive utility they provide, giving you a switch-in to many threatening offensive typings such as Flying, Psychic, and Fairy. While you do have switch-ins to these typings, such as Toxapex for Fairy types and TTar for Psychic types, this can be overcome by wearing down over time in the case of TTar, or even hitting it with another attack like Moonblast from Lele or Focus Blast from many other Psychic types. Speaking of Psychic types, Specs Lele can really just destroy your team once they manage to get TTar down, which isn't all that hard to do.

Here are some suggestions to improve your team:

I honestly find Pex in a very weird spot in your team, since it invites some wallbreakers in, and TSpikes tend to get forced to be removed by Fini anyway. Although Tang can handle most of them, this core can be destroyed by esense Gren, or simply worn down over time by Spikes AGren. I think Spdef Rachi is a perfect replacement for it, as it is capable of sponging special hits from so many big threats such as MDiancie, Latios, Lele, and Magearna. In addition, with Duggy gone, nothing can really remove it if you play it carefully enough, as it can easily take a hit from Scarf Magnezone (the only set that outspeeds it) and U-Turn out. WishTect is really nice for Rachi to keep itself and the rest of your team, especially Fini which lacks reliable recovery, healthy. Protect happens to be really useful to help scout Gren sets too.

Sand >

Since Garchomp doesn't synergise well with Fini, why not run Driller which can benefit from the Sandstorm that TTar brings about. This gives your team much-needed speed control, and a sweeper so you have something that can quickly finish up the game. As for its z-move, I chose Z-Iron Head to allow you to hit things like Chansey, MLatias, Lando-T, and Zygarde all at once, but u can change it based on your personal preference.

PhysDef >

Since you lack Rocks now, I think PhysDef Lando-T is a suitable replacement for Tangrowth as it has similar defensive capabilities. I chose U-Turn > Protect to form a VoltTurn core with Rachi, and also let you bring in your wallbreakers more easily.

Here are the sets:
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 108 SpD / 152 Spe
Careful Nature
- U-turn
- Iron Head
- Wish
- Protect

Excadrill @ Steelium Z
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide

Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 216 Def / 24 SpD / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power Ice
- U-turn

Hope I helped, thanks for reading, and have a nice day! n_n
