[Uber RMT]

locopoke

Banned deucer.
Well, I haven't played the Uber Tier much before, but I'd like to be in this weekends Smogon Tour, so I'm trying to create a decent team. This is the team I came up with and it's alright, but not as good as I would like it to be, so I'm just looking for some friendly advice.

Deoxys-e @ Light Clay
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/252 Spd/6 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd,-SAtk)
Moveset:
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt

Generally a pretty good lead, and most of the time it does its job. Which is to set up Stealth Rock and hopefully Screens. The only lead it really had a problem dealing with is other Deoxys-E, because it depends on whether i lose the speed tie or not. If I do lose the speed tie, and I get taunted, I'm forced to switch to Parasect, who can kill it with X Scissor or put it to Sleep with Spore and hopefully set up.

Forretress @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/252 SDef/6 Def
Sassy nature (+SDef,-Spd)
Moveset:
- Reflect
- Gyro Ball
- Rapid Spin
- Spikes

I'm beginning to question whether Forretress really belongs on this team or not. With Drizzle active, he has a better chance of living from a Fire Attack than ever before, especially with the EVs provided (and possibly Light Screen in effect).

His job is strictly to set up Spikes and Rapid Spin anything that's on my side of the battle field. Other than that he really has no other purpose. He can set up Reflect to aid his defenses, and possibly the defenses of the rest of my team (though without Light Clay, 4 turns (or less) really doesn't help out much).

Gyro Ball can't hit much in Ubers, and runs out of PP really quickly, especially with all the Pressure abusers running around in this tier. Which is why I'm questioning if Forretress should or shouldn't be replaced with somebody who can do his job better.

Parasect @ Leftovers
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 248 HP/8 Atk/96 Def/156 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk,-SAtk)
Moveset:
- Stun Spore
- Spore
- X Scissor
- Light Screen

Parasect has escaped the UU Tier and wandered into Ubers! This is the UberSect moveset, which is one of the most recent movesets for Parasect posted here on Smogon. Parasect really does a good job in Ubers, and especially on this team.

Dry Skin helps to keep him alive a lot longer, and Drizzle helps weaken Fire moves directed at him. Not only that, he has Light Screen to help his poor typing.

Parasect runs double status, which is always very effective. Put one Pokemon to sleep, and use Stun Spore on the switch. That's already two Pokemon that have been crippled by this little guy.

Not only that, but this is probably the most effective ScarfOgre and SpecsOgre counter in the game. He takes around 20-25% from a SpecsOgre Thunder, which is in reality more like 2-7% once you factor in Health restored from Dry Skin and Leftovers. Parasect definetely helps this team.

Kyogre @ Leftovers
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 SAtk/252 Spd/6 HP
Timid nature (+Spd,-Atk)
Moveset:
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Thunder
- Calm Mind

This is my Kyogre, and a great set-up sweeper. It also provides some nice Rain with Drizzle, aiding Parasect and Forretress with their fire weakness. Kyogre has a pretty easy time setting up, especially if screens are active. Kyogre has massive SDef as it is, but with a calm mind or 2, no Special Attacks will hurt it. Surf, Ice Beam, and Thunder hit about everything in the metagame. Kyogre can be deadly, and is the center to this team.

Garchomp @ Salac Berry
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 Def
Jolly nature (+Spd,-SAtk)
Moveset:
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake

Here's my second set-up sweeper after Kyogre, and he's just as much, if not MORE deadly than Kyogre is. If Salac Berry is activated and I have a Swords Dance, I can pretty much say GG.

I never really thought that Garchomps Tier-Change was a good idea, until I used this. Dragon and Ground hit a lot if things strong in this tier, and Garchomp is a great addition to this team.

Mewtwo @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 64 Atk/216 Spd/228 SAtk
Hasty nature (+Spd,-Def)
Moveset:
- Brick Break
- Ice Beam
- Selfdestruct
- Thunder

My last Pokemon, and an amazing mixed sweeper; Mewtwo. In my opinion, it's one of, if not THE best Mixed Sweeper in this tier, and it's very easy and simple to use.

Brick Break is used for the occasional Blissey I may see, and it usually is a 1-2HKO. It also helps to take down Darkrai because with 285 Speed, there are few things that can outrun it without a Choice Scarf.

401 Special attack + Life Orb makes any Special Move from this Pokemon absolutely deadly. Ice Beam and Thunder make a great combo, just like Boltbeam, except better. With Kyogres Drizzle ability, Thunder has 100% Accuracy, and great base power. Ice Beam completely rids the battle of any Dragons that step in the way of Mewtwo.

For the last move, I chose Selfdestruct because it's a great way to deal a huge amount of damage, and is a great last-move for when Mewtwo is about to die of Life Orb Damage. Overall, Mewtwo makes an amazing Special Sweeper, and aids this team to no end.

~ Thank you for reading, please give me advice and suggestions.

Well, I'll just skim through this:

Deoxys-e leads w/o Lum Berry are pretty outdated. Scarfrai simply sleeps you, and bam, a big chunk of your strategy is over. Perhaps stick a Lum Berry on so you can taunt after he uses Dark Void, forcing him out and giving you a few free turns to set up your rocks or screens. Alternatively, since you do use stuff like Parasect and Forry, who can force a lot fo pokemon to switch, you can run the spiker set: Taunt/SR/Spikes/Superpower. Extreme Speed is no longer necessary, as no one uses Sash Deoxys-A anymore.

If you run the spiker set, you could probably switch Forry out for another steel. Bronzong is quite good, as with Drizzle, his has zero weaknesses. Meanwhile, he is a very solid set upper of screens.

Parasect is fine.

Garchomp needs Outrage if you are going to do SubSD. He really appreciates the raw power. Even though it is not necessarily GG after an SD, if you do have a Sub up, Salac, and and SD (tough to get all three), something is going to die, since an SD Outrage can 2hko just about anything (Dragon Claw doesn't though).

Mewtwo seems fine. I think Aura Sphere would be better, since you do have spikes, but Aura Sphere still doesn't beat Blissey.

Thanks for the advice, I'll change those right away. The only thing that I don't see working is Aura Sphere > Brick Break. Like you mentioned above, Brick Break kills Blissey, Aura Sphere doesn't.

This isn't really a rate, but avoid Fire attacks no matter what when Parasect is out. Also once you've played your hand that you're using Parasect, it's wise to do some long term thinking when a Kyogre comes in. An Ice Beam will OHKO a Parasect, so be careful.

I'm seconding all of Chenman's suggestions

Yeah, I'll usually switch Parasect out to save him from an Ice Beam. (of course, that's only if Kyogre is locked into Ice Beam, or doesn't have a choice item) If I can switch into a Spec'd/Scarf'd Surf then that gives me a huge advantage.

Aura Sphere > Brick Break. Aura Sphere does more damage to Dialga. It's a guaranteed 2HKO on every variant except the Bulk-up variant. Your team has trouble dealing with Dialga; only Garchomp does it well, and he has trouble swapping in. In the meantime, all of your pokes can deal with Blissey fine depending on her moveset. And Mewtwo can always blow up on Blissey for a guaranteed OHKO. Not to mention that Dialga is much more common than Blissey, and Aura Sphere does more damage to almost every other pokemon.

I agree with chinoman's changes. Replace Forretress with DS Bronzong. Don't have Gyro Ball; you'll find that Ubers don't take much damage from it, and it gets PP wasted easily. Have HP Ice for Rayquaza and Grass Knot for Groudon. Bronzong makes a good Rayquaza switch-in. It can absorb Outrage, and should Rayquaza be caught using DD, Bronzong can easily survive a LO Overheat. Groudon's rarely carry Fire Punch, generally using Dragon Claw and Stone Edge instead, so Bronzong will usually have an easy time against him with a 120 base power move, and it's a decent move against Choice Palkia locked into a Dragon move. No pokemon in your team can safely swap into Rayquaza and Groudon; Bronzong solves that.

I'll take Aura Sphere into consideration and see how that works out. As far as Chenman's suggestions go, I'm all for them. I'll definetely use HP Ice on Bronzong for Rayquaza, and same goes for Grass Knot to help me deal with Groudon.

and YES, I've seen how horrid Gyro Ball is in Ubers ._.
