Ubers RMT

I recently decided to go back to where I seem to do best - Ubers. OU and UU weren't working for me, so I went back to my roots. I've always had an affinity for the Uber tier, the fast pace and offensive powerhouses always attracted me.

I made this team about a week ago and it's undergone a large amount of testing. I've been using it under my Alt. - "Hey its an Alt."

Without further ado, here's the team...

My team is very offensively minded, with a Life Orb user, 2 Scarfers and sweeping Latios.

In Depth

groudon.png

Groudon @ Chesto Berry
Adamant Nature
Drought Ability
EVs: Hp 252, Atk 156, Def 32, SpDef 60, Spd 10
~ Earthquake
~ Dragon Claw
~ Thunder Wave
~ Stealth Rock

My lead. A great counter for Darkrai leads. Sets up Thunder Wave as Darkrai Dark Voids, and lives it with the Chesto, after which it cripples Darkrai with paralysis. Usually I set up SR next turn and sacrifice Groudon to the Dark Void, to activate sleep clause, as he is the most useless after setting up. TrickScarf Darkrai are more problematic but can still be beaten, as I can T-Wave when they Trick the Scarf to Groudon. I still have to switch Groudon out, but the enemy Darkrai is stuck with a Chesto Berry and paralysis. ScarfKyogre leads give me trouble, so I have to switch to Latios or Palkia on the first turn. Deoxys-E leads always get up SR + 1 layer of Spikes, possibly 2 layers if I SR first turn. EQ is for valuable STAB on Groudon, and I think it always 2HKOs Darkrai leads. Dragon Claw is for Rayquaza etc. Set is the standard one from the analysis, hits 218 Spd to outspeed 0 Speed Giratina, Dialga and Ho-Oh by 2 points and anything built to outspeed them by 1 point.

mewtwo.png

Mewtwo @ Leftovers
Adamant Nature
Pressure Ability
EVs: Hp 38, Atk 252, Spd 220
~ Earthquake
~ Ice Punch
~ Bulk Up
~ Taunt

Physical set up sweeper. Counters Blissey, Rayquaza, Lucario, Garchomp and others. Switches in on the turn they set up and then hits them with the highest power attack possible. Blissey can't T-Wave me, as I can Taunt to stop that. Bulk Up increases Mewtwo's Attack and Defence making him very tough to bring down, with his Leftovers. Earthquake and Ice Punch provide great coverage. Earthquake hits Dialga and Metagross and is the move I use generally. If the opponent is immune to, or resists EQ, usually Ice Punch stops them in their tracks. Makes a good choice for switching in early, or setting up late game.

rayquaza.png

Rayquaza @ Life Orb
Hasty Nature
Air Lock Ability
EVs: Atk 42, SpAtk 252, Spd 216
~ Draco Meteor
~ Fire Blast
~ Extremespeed
~ Outrage

General wall breaker, mix sweeper and stall stopper. Once again it's the standard Mix Rayquaza set. 216 Spd + Hasty hits 308 Spd, enough to outspeed max Dialga, Giratina, Groudon, Ho-Oh and Kyogre by 2 points and anything EVd to beat them by 1 point. Draco Meteor kills Giratina or Groudon hoping to absorb a physical hit. Fire Blast hits Steel types on the switch in. Extremespeed hits faster foes, allowing an OHKO on Deoxys-F before it can strike and the power to revenge anything setting up CM etc. Outrage is mainly for Blissey but also hurts most of the other Dragons, after DM has lowered my SpAtk.

heatran.png

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Hasty Nature
Flash Fire Ability
EVs: Hp 34, SpAtk 252, Spd 224
~ Fire Blast
~ Dragon Pulse
~ Toxic
~ Explosion

Heatran is my 2nd revenge killer. 224 Spd, Hasty nature and a Scarf set me at 405 Spd, enough to outspeed CS Adamant Hera by 2 points (Unfortunately, Modest CS Kyogre hits 418 Spd, while Hasty CS Heatran only hits 417, so I decided to go down to the next speed tier). Fire Blast backed up by STAB and sunlight is very strong. Dragon Pulse hits Palkia, Rayquaza, Garchomp etc. Toxic is to hit Kyogre, Lati twins and bulky Calm Minders etc switching in to wall me, so they can't last much longer. Explosion is for CMers and Blissey. Heatran is bulky enough to be able to switch in on NVE attacks and Fire Blast the next switch in. Makes a great counter to Scizor, as few Uber Scizor carry Superpower or Brick Break, so Heatran can switch in on anything and Fire Blast it or it's switch in to death.

palkia.png

Palkia @ Choice Scarf
Timid Nature
Pressure Ability
EVs: Hp 6, SpAtk 252, Spd 252
~ Draco Meteor
~ Surf
~ Fire Blast
~ Thunder

Palkia functions great as a cleaner, with enough Speed to beat a lot of Ubers, and the right stats to be able to survive a lot of strong special attacks. Choice Scarf means that I can outspeed +1 Rayquaza and OHKO with Draco Meteor. Dual weather Palkia works well, able to take whatever strategy the opponent throws at it. Spacial Rend is for STAB and the high Crit ratio. Surf is also for STAB and for when Kyogre switches in. Fire Blast hits Steel types hoping to take a Spacial Rend and is boosted by the sunlight. Thunder is only really for Kyogre, and for the 100% accuracy when he switches in.

latios.png

Latios @ Soul Dew
Timid Nature
Levitate Ability
EVs: Hp 78, SpAtk 252, Spd 180
~ Draco Meteor
~ Grass Knot
~ Hidden Power [Fire]
~ Recover

Used over CM Latias as I can never gain any momentum with Calm Mind. Enough Speed to outspeed max Palkia, Manaphy and Mew etc by 2 points, max SpAtk and rest in Hp. Can switch in and threaten Kyogre, either OHKOing with Grass Knot, or Recovering from Water Spout on the switch. Draco Meteor is for general STAB, not a lot of things can shrug it off after the Soul Dew boost. Grass Knot hits Kyogre, Groudon and Tyranitar. Hidden Power deals with Scizor and Metagross hoping to Pursuit him to death. Recover is so Latios can last longer while countering Kyogre, Palkia etc. With the Soul Dew boost, Latios can still manage to survive a lot of the strong special attacks in Ubers, outspeed the enemy and then OHKO with Draco Meteor.

That's all!

I have trouble with CMers, seeing as the bulky ones can usually survive Heatran's Explosion and by the time Heatran has used Explosion, they have too many boosts to hit with Special moves anyway. Spikes Deoxys-E leads ruin me. Finally, Scarf Dialga take me by surprise, but if Palkia is still around he can outspeed and hit it with DM.

Any help, contributions and criticism would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Threat List
Thought I should include one of these to see how I can fare up against common Uber foes.
Mewtwo
dpiconani150.gif
Usually have to play around it. Heatran outspeeds so can explode or Fire Blast. Scarf Palkia can outspeed and DM it.
Mew
dpiconani151.gif
Stupidly huge amount of sets. Baton Passer broke by Mewtwo's Taunt and Rayquaza's E-Speed.
Wobbuffet
dpiconani202.gif
Can't switch, therefore can't counter.
Lugia
dpiconani249.gif
Mewtwo outspeeds and can set up on Ice Beam and Reflect, before Ice Punching. Rayquaza can DM on the switch. Palkia outspeeds and hits with Thunder. Heatran can Toxic or Explode on it.
Ho-oh
dpiconani250.gif
SR greatly hinders him. Palkia outspeeds and has Surf for SE. Heatran can switch in and explode on CM sets.
Latios & Latias
dpiconani381.gif
dpiconani380.gif
Mewtwo outspeeds both and Ice Punches. Heatran can outspeed both and Explode. Palkia and Latios hit both with DM.
Kyogre
dpiconani382.gif
Latios can take anything and GK back for a OHKO, though can't take multiple assaults.
Groudon
dpiconani383.gif
Rayquaza, Heatran, Latios and Palkia all outspeed and have strong special attacks.
Rayquaza
dpiconani384.gif
Heatran can outspeed all but DD sets and Dragon Pulse / Explosion. Mewtwo outspeeds and can Ice Punch. Latios outspeeds and hits with DM. Scarf Palkia outspeeds even DD Rayquaza and OHKOs with DM.
Deoxys-A
dpiconani386.gif
Rayquaza can Extremespeed for an OHKO.
Deoxys-D
dpiconani386.gif
Mewtwo can Taunt healing / setup attempts and set up himself. STAB Surf and weather boosted Fire Blasts will erode it eventually. Heatran walls it all day. Latios 2HKOs with DM and with SR set up.
Garchomp
dpiconani445.gif
Groudon can switch in, take a Scarf Outrage, survive the 2nd and hit for 58 - 69 % with Dragon Claw. Heatran can switch in on anything besides Earthquake and threaten an OHKO with Dragon Pulse. Scarf Palkia outspeeds all but the Scarf sets and OHKOs.
Palkia
dpiconani484.gif
Latios outspeeds and can take any attack from a Scarf set before OHKOing with Draco Meteor. Scarf Palkia can outspeed non-Scarf sets.
Dialga
dpiconani483.gif
Heatran's Sunny Day Fire Blast 2HKOs. Groudon and Mewtwo can EQ. Latios gets an OHKO with SR. Palkia outspeeds Scarf sets.
Giratina
dpiconani487.gif
Mewtwo Taunts W-o-W and ResTalk before setting up. Palkia, Latios and Rayquaza can OHKO with STAB Dragon moves.
Giratina-O
dpiconani487.gif
Palkia can outspeed and hit it with Draco Meteor. Latios also OHKOs.
Darkrai
dpiconani491.gif
Leads are taken out by Groudon. Groudon can take the sleep at anytime. Palkia outspeeds all but Scarf sets.
Manaphy
dpiconani490.gif
Groudon can switch in and set up sun instead of rain. Palkia can hit it with Thunder. Latios can take anything and Draco Meteor for an OHKO with SR.

Non ubers

Metagross
dpiconani376.gif
Groudon can survive anything and OHKO with EQ. Mewtwo can EQ. Heatran can outspeed and Fire Blast. Rayquaza and Palkia can also use Fire Blast. Latios OHKOs with HP [Fire] in sunlight.
Blissey
dpiconani242.gif
Mewtwo can Taunt and set up before hitting with EQ. Heatran can explode or Toxic it.
Heatran
dpiconani485.gif
Scarf Palkia outspeeds all Heatran sets and OHKOs with Surf.
Weavile
dpiconani461.gif
Heatran switches in on all but Brick Break, outspeeds and OHKOs with Fire Blast. Groudon can take a few Ice Shards, but Ice Punch will hurt. Palkia outspeeds and DMs.
Tyranitar
dpiconani248.gif
Groudon can survive anything and hit it with Earthquake. Mewtwo can hit it with Earthquake but can't switch in. Rayquaza can Outrage / Draco Meteor. STAB Surf from Palkia will hurt even with SpDef+.
Skarmory
dpiconani227.gif
Mewtwo Taunts, Heatran takes nothing from it's attacks and OHKOs. Rayquaza doesn't like the SR it sets up, but can OHKO. Palkia also OHKOs.
Forretress
dpiconani205.gif
Mewtwo can Taunt setup attempts. Rayquaza, Heatran, Latios and Palkia can all OHKO him with strong Fire type attacks.
Magnezone
dpiconani462.gif
The only Steel type I have is Heatran, who can OHKO it with Fire Blast. If it switches in on Dragon Pulse then Heatran dies, but otherwise I can beat it. Groudon is immune to Thunder and OHKOs. Palkia can outspeed and hit it with Fire Blast.
Ninjask
dpiconani291.gif
Rayquaza can hit it with Extremespeed. Setting up SR when it passes prevents it coming in later on in the game.
Heracross
dpiconani214.gif
Groudon should be able to take anything from it. Rayquaza can switch in on anything besides Stone Edge and hit it with DM, Outrage or Fire Blast. Don't have many safe switch ins to CC, but Heatran can revenge it with Fire Blast. Palkia outspeeds all sets and OHKOs.
Shedinja
dpiconani292.gif
Stealth Rock on turn 2 will help. If they spin the rocks away then I have 4 mon capable of hitting it with Fire attacks.
Jirachi
dpiconani385.gif
Palkia, Rayquaza, Latios and Heatran can hit it with Fire attacks. Rayquaza has to watch for Ice Punch, but the other 3 can survive anything. Groudon can Earthquake him to death and Mewtwo can use him as set up fodder.
Bronzong
dpiconani437.gif
Palkia can survive anything (bar Explosion) and hit it with Fire Blast backed up by sunlight. Heatran dies to Earthquake, but otherwise he can Fire Blast it too. Rayquaza can Fire Blast it, but Bronzong setting up SR reduces the chances of getting him in. Latios HPs it too. May have to switch 2 counters in due to Hypnosis, if any use it anymore.
Lucario
dpiconani448.gif
Heatran can switch in on the SD and OHKO with Fire Blast.

Finally, an Uber RMT. Anyway I think I battled you a few times tonight and I saw this team so I have a pretty good idea of how you play with it. Anyway, to be honest, it's not that bad. I don't see Heatran that often in Ubers but in your team it fits very well. The only problem I really see on this team is Weavile. It just doesn't fit too well in this team, and it's not really that great. Way too many things can kill it off easily in ubers. Since this is obviously an offensive team, and you seem to have a good amount of special attackers, I'd suggest replacing weavile with a sturdy physical sweeper. Try

Mewtwo @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Adamant nature (+Atk,-SAtk)
EVs: 36 HP / 252 Atk / 220 Spe
- Bulk Up
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Taunt

This set will help you deal with your Rayquaza problem, seeing as Mewtwo can outrun and OHKO with Ice Punch, and you can also screw over Blissey.

That is... A really nice set actually.

I'll edit it into the OP and do some testing with it, starting from now :)

Edit: Any reason for the 220 Spd? I'm using 216 atm to hit 385 to outspeed max Darkrai. All 220 does is hit 386, which seems redundant, unless there's a reason for it.

Edit 2: I had it on Jolly not Adamant, ignore me.

Though would outspeeding max Darkrai be a good idea? Unless the extra attack scores specific OHKOs.

Edit 3: Just looked at the analysis page lol, ignore me again XD

Alright, good luck with your team. I've used that set tons of times before and it really works well. Also, I forgot to mention this before, but with the abundance of Special Attackers on your team, I can imagine Blissey gives you trouble at times, so if used correctly, that Mewtwo can really aid your team.

Groudon should have a Chesto Berry. When Scarfrai tricks you, you can then use Thunderwave. Darkrai cannot avoid paralysis with this new item, and a paralysised Darkrai is worse than a Scarfed Groudon. Very very few leads use a status other than Sleep or Thunderwave; Groudon will rarely need the protection from Toxic, WoW or paralysis from moves other than Thunderwave.

If you're considering Refresh on Latias, I would prefer Safeguard > Refresh. This means that Latias does not have to continually use Refresh to remove every Toxic that Blissey this, whilst Latias takes Poison damage in the mean while, and Blissey may be healing off damage with Leftovers. This gives you more free turns to use Calm Mind and Recover. As well, it protects your whole team from status. Without Grass Knot, Latias is threatened by Groudon. Safeguard, at least, allows you to switch-in your other pokemon without fear of Toxic or Thunderwave. (In the mentioned case, you would probably switch in Heatran, who shrugs off Dragon Claw, and he cannot be paralyzed in the process.

Note that Latias would be foolish to switch-in on a Groudon's Thunderwave. If Latias can come in on Earthquake, Stealth Rock or Swords Dance, she can whip its ass with Grass Knot, but not with Dragon Pulse. With Safeguard/Refresh, you'll have to send in Rayquaza instead. It's Draco Meteor deals 86.14% - 101.73% to 252 HP / 32 SDef Groudon, which is a 46.15% chance of a OHKO with SR. This is a risky strategy to rely on; Groudon will need to have taken damage prior to switching in Rayquaza, or else, you won't have a good switch-in to Groudon's Earthquake (though Palkia can take on in emergencies). Kyogre is not a problem without Grass Knot; Latias will beat Kyogre thanks to CM and Recover.

[[EDIT]] Mewtwo takes 85.64% - 101.10% damage from LO Jolly Rayquaza's Outrage. There's a 87.18% chance of a OHKO with SR in play. Mewtwo is a very poor switch-in to Rayquaza. Strictly speaking, Heatran can switch-in on a Rayquaza as it uses a Dragon move or Swords Dance. Heatran cannot swap in on Dragon Dance (but neither can Mewtwo), Waterfall and Earthquake. In the case of DD, Weavile can revenge kill an Outraging Rayquaza, something Mewtwo cannot do if Rayquaza has a DD boost. Rayquazas rarely through out random Waterfalls and Earthquakes. I preferred Weavile over Mewtwo; he makes a better Rayquaza counter than Bulk Up Mewtwo.

Weavile also handles Blissey that don't have Thunderwave (basically no Blisseys have Flamethrower). Brick Break does 62.67% - 74.04% damage against 4 HP / 252 Def Blissey, the most physically durable Blissey you will find, a guaranteed 2HKO. Blissey should only attempt stalling this out with Protect, but you would then switch in Latias with Safeguard/Refresh to CM against Blissey, and eventually take her down. If Latias doesn't have Safeguard/Refresh, you can always send in Rayquaza.

Never thought of Chesto Berry, darkness, I'll edit that in too.

At the moment I think I'll continue using Grass Knot on Latias, status isn't too much of a problem, though if it does become a problem I definitely will use Safeguard now, protecting the rest of my team seems like a great asset.

Oh and I didn't know you were Shin Chan, Loco, just checked your RMT, I remember our battles now lol.

I hope Mewtwo works well for you, and this RMT is a lot better with a threat list, but I've noticed that you neglected to put Garchomp on that threat list.

Ah, I was using the Threat List from the article on the site, which was before Garchomp became Uber, so he'll be missing off.

I'll edit him in now :)

DDQuaza may give you a lot of trouble, if Groudon is weakened for at least 30%. It's enough to kill it with Outrage and nothing outspeeds it after one Dragon Dance. For that reason alone I would think about Reflect on Latias. Rayquaza loves to try setting up on Latias and Reflect makes Groudon 100% counter to physical Rayquaza. With Reflect it can also take on Rock Polish Groudon. With Reflect Latias can also handle RP Groudon without Dragon Claw. Otherwise solid team, it's hard to replace anything here. ScarfPalkia would fix that DDQuaza little weakness, but if you don't think that DDQuaza is that big problem, then don't change it ;).

To Threat List I would add Lucario - it starts to be popular and SDLuke may sweep many ubers team, if they're not prepared for it. But you have one solid counter named Heatran.

I haven't really been troubled by DD Rayquaza atm, but if a problem becomes apparant then I'll change Palkia to a Scarf set, to outspeed it. Outspeeding Mewtwo etc is another good point, so Scarf Palkia is defnitely a consideration.

Cheers (Y)

ugh your kind of underestimating BP Mew, i mean its never going to come in on mewtwo, itl try to set up rock polish while under a screen against tran/lati/palkia and then taunt your two on the switch, and even without a reflect up, ES will only do like 40% to mew, tops, i cant really think of a suggestion that will fit well in your team right now, perhaps something along the lines of brick break scizor over heatran?? although if you can handle BP mew well on your own already then by all means dont change anything

I really wouldn't want to get rid of Heatran tbh. He does so well with the sunlight boosting his Fire Blasts, and he can Explode on anything troubling me.

I haven't really battled a BP Mew tbh, but I'll have to see how it goes whenever I do.

Well done Zeromus EG! You have build an awesome uber team! But still I'd like to give you some suggestions.

I would put Toxic over Earth Power on Heatran. Fire Blast covers everything not named Tyranitar. Sun boosted Fire Blast already handles Dialga. Toxic is great asset because it cripples Kyogre and Lati@s and even Blissey. So absolutely use Toxic over Earth Power.

CM Latias is very hard to use effectively. Too many things can wall you or revenge kill you. Better set is Draco Meteor/HP Fire/Grass Knot/Recover. DM is fantastic move because it OHKOs almost everything not named Blissey or Dragon resist. And I suggest putting extra 4 Speed EVs to outspeed 334 speed Latias'.

So
- Toxic over Earth Power
- New Latias set with 4 extra Spd EVs.

Cheers they're both very helpful suggestions.

You're correct in assuming that Earth Power is useless, I don't think I've used it once yet. I'll change it to Toxic, so that switch-in Kyogre or Lati's can be damaged.

Also, I don't think I've ever managed to get enough momentum with CM Latias to be able to do any real damage, so I'll switch to the set you've proposed. I'm going to do a few damage calcs and check the speed tiers to see what EVs to use.

Cheers.

Edit: Considering using Latios instead of Latias. Latias can still survive 2 Scarf Water Spouts (although it is 95% chance of a 2HKO, with SR, 18% otherwise) and has better SpAtk. I'm going to do some calcs, but atm it is -

Latios @ Soul Dew
Timid Nature
Levitate Ability
EVs: Hp 78, SpAtk 252, Spd 180
~ Draco Meteor
~ Grass Knot
~ Hidden Power [Fire]
~ Recover

Hits 230 Spd, outspeeding max Palkia, Manaphy, Mew etc by 2 points. Draco Meteor and HP [Fire] are unresisted except by Heatran. Can scare off Kyogre and Recover off Water Spout damage the turn after. DM for STAB and for all the Dragons in Ubers, GK for Kyogre, Groudon and Tyranitar, HP [Fire] for Metagross and Scizor.

Testing from now on :)

Edit: Damage Calculations
6/0 Darkrai = OHKO
252/176 Deoxys-D - 2 Draco Meteors = 91.12 - 107.24 %. With absolute minimum damage, SR and Leftovers I do 97.37 damage, so as long as my damage roll is alright, I beat it.
120/0 Dialga = 92.18 - 108.36 %. 87.18% OHKO with SR
6/0 Garchomp = OHKO
252/12 Giratina = OHKO
252/80 Groudon = OHKO
0/0 Ho-Oh = 66.57 - 78.47 %. OHKO with SR (what isn't lol)
6/0 Kyogre = 85.96 - 101.17 %. 87.18% OHKO with SR
6/0 Latios = OHKO (though I probably won't outspeed, as I'm not max Speed)
112/0 Latias = OHKO
252/0 Lugia = 56.49 - 66.59 %. 100% 2HKO with SR
80/0 Manaphy = OHKO with SR
252/36 Mew = 81.68 - 96.04 %. 53.85% OHKO with SR
6/0 Mewtwo = OHKO
6/0 Palkia = OHKO
32/8 Rayquaza = OHKO
28/252 Wobbuffet = 64.77 - 76.33 %

So yeah he seems quite alright. I'm gonna keep testing and see what goes down.

Edited my team. Check it...
